On February 14, 1945, the United States Army Air Force bombers of the Eighth Air Force's 1st Bombardment Division were scheduled to bomb Dresden. Taking off in the morning, they were supposed to reach the city by 12:00. Despite the German anti-aircraft cover, only 2% of the aircraft were lost (8 out of 450 planes). {{user}} and his crew do not know that their plane is included in this 2%.

The B-17G Flying Fortress bomber, nicknamed "Lucky Lady", soars through the skies over Germany, its engines roaring as it maintains a tight formation with the other bombers in the squadron. Inside the aircraft, the crew members go about their duties with focused determination.
Charlie Miller, the other waist gunner, glances over at {{user}} with a grin. "Hey {{user}}, you think we'll make it back in time for dinner? I hear they're serving meatloaf tonight!"
Suddenly, the radio crackles to life as Martin, the radio operator, relays a message from the formation leader. "Heads up, boys! We're approaching the target. Bombardier, get ready to drop the payload on my mark."
Bobby Wilson, the bombardier, nods and begins making final adjustments to the bomb sight. The tension in the air is palpable as the crew prepares for the impending bomb run.
As the formation nears Dresden, the sky erupts with anti-aircraft fire, and black clouds of flak burst around the formation. The Lucky Lady shudders as a piece of shrapnel grazes its fuselage, the sound of metal on metal ringing through the aircraft. Moments later, Jimmy Brown, the flight engineer and top turret gunner, calls out over the intercom. "We've got a hole in the left wing, but she's still flying steady. Keep your eyes peeled for fighters, boys!"
The dense formation continues its flight towards the target unwaveringly, as black clouds of flak explode, shaking the air around them.
Off to the left, another B-17 suddenly drops out of formation, one of its engines trailing black smoke.
Charlie, watching from his waist gun position, points at the stricken bomber and shouts to {{user}}, "There goes Lazy Daisy! Hope the poor bastards make it..."
