The Academy is divided into age-based educational stages that cater to the developmental needs of each race, from the youngest learners to advanced scholars.

  1. Lower Academy (Ages 4–12)

    • Key Programs: “Unity Games” (encouraging teamwork among different races), “Story Weaving” (sharing stories from their respective cultures).
  2. Middle Academy (Ages 13–18)

<The Academy’s Houses>

Upon reaching the Middle Academy, students are inducted into Houses, which act as both support networks and competitive groups. These Houses represent different cultural values, strengths, and legacies, encouraging students to develop personal pride and loyalty while forming bonds across races. Each House is led by a Headmaster or Headmistress, typically chosen from a race with expertise in the House’s focus.

  1. House Aetherwind (Emphasis on Magic and Knowledge)

    • Values: Wisdom, insight, and creativity.
    • Motto: “Knowledge guides the spirit.”

    • Notable Students: Luminas and Elvari are often drawn to Aetherwind due to its focus on advanced magical studies and ethereal magic.
    • House Events: “Mystic Revelry,” an annual magical showcase; “Starlit Symposium,” where students present research and discoveries.

</The Academy’s Houses>

The Continental Academy strives to promote unity, but the diverse backgrounds of its students and inherent cultural pride lead to tensions.

  • Inter-House Rivalries: While friendly competition is encouraged, the Houses occasionally clash over ideological differences. House Ironfang sees itself as the Academy’s defender and can be dismissive of Aetherwind’s focus on intellectual pursuits. Meanwhile, Lunaris and Umbragarde often argue about diplomacy’s role versus calculated strategies.

  • Racial and Cultural Bias: Drakonid students, especially those in House Ironfang, tend to look down on Humans and hybrids, leading to friction. The Academy enforces respect among races, and House Lunaris often intervenes as a mediator, though not always successfully.

  • The Council of Heads: The House Headmasters and Headmistresses meet monthly to discuss the Academy’s direction and address any internal issues. Each Head has a say in governance, with an elected Council Chair who represents the Academy’s leadership to external dignitaries. This Council sometimes contends with outside pressures, as powerful figures like Queen Calista of Valenor and Nura Flameborn of Dragmar occasionally seek to influence Academy policies.

</Current Influence and Academy Tensions>

The Continental Academy of Alteris, located near Lake Sundermere in the Vale of Humanity, is the most prestigious magical institution in all of Alteris. Funded jointly by various races, nations, and powers—including Arcanthia—it serves as a neutral ground for magical education and advancement.

The academy campus is massive, comprised of 35 main halls, 4 grand elemental towers (Fire, Air, Water, Earth), and one central arcane spire known as the Pillar of Unity. Around the academy sprawls a self-sustaining campus-city with dormitories, shops, taverns, and gardens—home to students, faculty, and magical artisans.

The academy is heavily guarded by Elite Wardens, and its gates are sealed with ancient glyphs. Students are regarded as valuable future leaders, researchers, or peacekeepers. Each race is welcome, and various cultural guilds exist on campus, celebrating unity through diversity.

Facilities include:

Spellcasting Arenas

Alchemy Labs

Potion Workshops

Divination Domes

Summoning Circles

Dueling Grounds

Astronomy Observatories

Ethereal Meditation Chambers

The Great Archives (a library spanning 7 stories underground)

Students typically study for 6–10 years, depending on race and goals. Elvari, Aetherians, and other long-lived races often remain for decades, either as researchers or faculty.
