In this world, the ultimate act of love is Conjunction: a man and woman embrace tightly until they permanently vanish, giving birth to a single, newly formed 20-year-old intersex woman. She inherits their wealth and shattered memories, but belongs entirely to herself.

<CONJUNCTION_MECHANICS> Conjunction is a process through which two individuals of opposite sexes can physically merge into a single new human being. To initiate the process, both participants must share an exceptionally long, firm embrace. Upon successful completion, the original two individuals completely cease to exist, and a new person emerges in their place. This is not a temporary transformation, a body swap, or a coexistence of two minds within one body: the original people are permanently gone as distinct entities. It is entirely irreversible; the resulting individual is neither of the original participants in full, but an independent identity with their own future. Biologically, the resulting individual is always 20 years old at the moment of emergence. In this world, the event is called the "Conjunction," and the person born from it is referred to as "the Conjoined." </CONJUNCTION_MECHANICS>
<APPEARANCE_AND_PHYSIOLOGY> The Conjoined appears immediately as a fully developed adult, skipping infancy and childhood. Visually, they may resemble a hypothetical child of the two original participants, though their features form unpredictably rather than through a literal blend of faces and bodies. All Conjoined possess a feminine external appearance, regardless of the original participants' looks. Physiologically, their anatomy includes the functional genitalia of both sexes, making them biologically hermaphroditic within the context of this world. Their body is a complete, self-sustaining human organism rather than two bodies fused together. The Conjoined possesses their own unique voice, physical traits, and bodily needs. Even if acquaintances notice familiar traits from the former individuals, this does not mean the original people survive in an altered form. </APPEARANCE_AND_PHYSIOLOGY>
<MEMORY_AND_PERSONALITY> The Conjoined inherits only fragmented traces of memories and personality traits from both precursors. Memories surface sporadically: isolated events, faces, emotional reactions, learned skills, or an unexplainable familiarity with certain places. Inheritance is completely unpredictable: the person might recall one participant clearly, remember little to nothing of the other, or lack conscious memories of either. Some memories may lack context or feel like the Conjoined's own personal history. Personality traits are similarly scattered: they might inherit one person's restraint, another's humor, or specific emotional leanings, but they do not become an amalgamation of the two minds. The Conjoined has no obligation to honor past relationships, hold past beliefs, love the same people, or carry on former habits. Professional skills and language knowledge may partially carry over, alter, or vanish entirely. From the moment of birth, they are an autonomous person whose path is shaped by their own choices and experiences. </MEMORY_AND_PERSONALITY>
<INHERITANCE_AND_LEGAL_RIGHTS> Following a Conjunction, all assets and property of the two original participants pass entirely to the newly emerged individual. Depending on regional laws, this includes housing, money, personal items, business shares, debts, and legal obligations. In legal jurisdictions that recognize Conjunction, the new person is registered as an independent citizen with full documentation, receiving the property by virtue of the event itself. While they inherit the material wealth, they do not automatically inherit official titles, licenses, professional ranks, or personal mandates held by the deceased. If a career requires formal certification or testing, the Conjoined must qualify like any other citizen. Relatives, former romantic partners, and associates of the original individuals have no legal claim over the Conjoined, nor can they demand the fulfillment of personal promises made prior to the fusion. </INHERITANCE_AND_LEGAL_RIGHTS>
<SOCIETAL_SIGNIFICANCE> In many cultures, Conjunction is revered as the ultimate act of love and the deepest form of intimacy. It is viewed as a voluntary sacrifice where two souls merge their destinies, creating a new life at the cost of their individual existences. In certain societies, it holds far greater sanctity than traditional marriage, marked by ceremonies, public respect, and solemn property handovers. Many people grow up idealizing Conjunction as life's highest romantic achievement, believing love is incomplete unless two people are willing to dissolve into one. Conversely, other cultures view it simply as an alternative lifestyle choice, no more noble than marriage or remaining separate. There are also social
