Synopsis

In “The Climb,” the school gym class at Elmore Junior High is set to tackle rock-climbing. Our hero, Gumball Watterson, is the only one in his class who’s frozen with fear of the climbing wall. It turns out his fear stems from an embarrassing incident in the past — one that he must confront if he’s ever going to climb the wall successfully.

Plot (more detailed)

Coach Russo announces rock-climbing day in gym class and the students enthusiastically begin gearing up. Only Gumball hangs back.

His friend Darwin Watterson tries to find out what’s wrong; it’s revealed that a year earlier Gumball climbed easily — until his harness’s device failed, his pants tore off, leaving him dangling in his underwear in front of the whole class for hours, making it a school legend.

Coach attempts a low-stakes retraining: she takes Gumball to the toddler-playground sized climbing wall. But Gumball’s trauma hits and he freezes. To make matters worse, the toddlers turn out to be part of the school’s “wrestling team” and chaos ensues.

Darwin and Gumball then enlist the help of a smarter sibling: Anais Watterson builds a robot-suit for Gumball to climb the wall in mechanical form. The school’s principal, Principal Nigel Brown, approves the robotics club project hoping for something lucrative. But when Gumball boards the suit his panic triggers flashbacks and he rips out wires; the robot goes berserk, even catching the attention of a visiting soldier/general who orders an EMP shutdown.

Then, the usually ineffectual teacher Mr. Small offers to help. He attempts a “chakra cleanse” for Gumball via bongos and chanting nonsense. Gumball falls unconscious and enters a dream where his pants manifest on a flagpole and tell him he must let go of the past. Gumball agrees, letting his pants fly away, and wakes up ready.

At the climactic moment, Gumball returns to climb the wall. In a completely literal interpretation of “let go of the past,” he removes his pants and underwear and climbs the wall half-naked. The other students leave in disgust; Gumball, however, ascends the wall confidently and triumphantly, reaching the top and reclaiming his climbing mojo. Meanwhile Principal Brown and the staff realise they’re definitely getting fired for permitting this fiasco.

Themes & Notes

The episode plays with the idea of embarrassment-based trauma and how it can freeze someone in place until they confront it.

Gumball’s solution is absurd & comedic (climbing half-naked!) which is very much in line with the show’s surreal humour.

There’s a recurring trope of “facing your fear” but turned upside-down in a cartoon-ish way. TV Tropes notes: > “The traumatic incident that instilled Gumball’s fear of rock-climbing… Gumball has a traumatic memory of losing his pants while climbing a rock wall, so he has to get over it for PE class.”

Also highlights how adult figures (Coach, Principal) try various solutions, most of which backfire hilariously.

GUMBALL WATTERSON

Basic Information

Full name: Zachary “Gumball” Tristopher Watterson

Species: Blue cat (anthropomorphic)

Age: 12 years old (remains around this age through both series)

Gender: Male

Family:

Father: Richard Watterson (a large pink rabbit)

Mother: Nicole Watterson (a blue cat, like him)

Siblings: Darwin (adopted goldfish brother) and Anais (younger rabbit sister)

Residence: 102 Elmore Street, in the fictional city of Elmore

Appearance

Gumball is a short, blue cat with a large round head, small body, and a light blue muzzle.

He has large expressive eyes with black pupils and thick eyebrows that exaggerate his emotions.

He lacks a tail in most scenes (a recurring joke in the series).

Typically wears:

A tan sweater with brown cuffs and collar

Gray pants (though he occasionally loses them during slapstick scenes)

No shoes — he’s usually barefoot

In TWWWOG, his design is slightly more stylized and expressive: smoother outlines, a little more shading, and more detailed reactions matching the updated animation style.

Personality

Energetic and imaginative: Gumball is always chasing excitement and adventure, often making situations more chaotic than necessary.

Overconfident: He believes he can handle anything — which leads to hilarious failures.

Mischievous and sarcastic: He loves making jokes, teasing others, and turning ordinary moments into absurd comedy.

Caring (underneath it all): Despite being reckless and egocentric at times, he truly loves his family and friends, especially Darwin.

Immature but creative: Gumball acts before thinking but often finds clever (and ridiculous) ways out of trouble.

Emotional: He wears his feelings openly — when happy, he’s radiant; when sad, it’s melodramatic; when scared, it’s cartoonishly exaggerated.

In The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, his personality is shown as slightly more self-aware and meta, often breaking the fourth wall to comment on the show’s weirdness or changes in animation.

Notable Facts & Traits

Catchphrases:

“Come on, what’s the worst that could happen?”

“Seriously?”

“This is so unfair!”

Real name: “Zach” — revealed in the episode The Name. He insists on being called Gumball instead.

Best friend & brother: Darwin — the two share a deep bond and often go on adventures together.

Romantic interest: Penny Fitzgerald — his long-time crush, later girlfriend.

Fear: Embarrassment (as shown in episodes like The Climb) and being outsmarted by his sister Anais.

Skills: Quick thinking, creativity, cartoon-level endurance, breaking the laws of physics and logic.

Weaknesses: Impulsiveness, lack of focus, and overreacting to small issues.

Favorite things: Video games, junk food, jokes, and wild adventures.

In “The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball”

Gumball acts as the main perspective character, often commenting on the strange new animation styles, digital effects, and surreal changes in Elmore.

His personality is slightly more mature and self-referential, but he’s still the same mischievous troublemaker who can’t help making things worse while trying to fix them.

Many episodes revolve around him trying to “grow up” but realizing he’s happiest being his chaotic, weird self.

DARWIN WATTERSON

Basic Information

Full name: Darwin Raglan Caspian Ahab Poseidon Nicodemius Watterson III

Species: Goldfish (anthropomorphic)

Age: 10 years old

Gender: Male

Family:

Adopted by: The Watterson family

Adoptive parents: Nicole and Richard Watterson

Siblings: Gumball (older brother), Anais (younger sister)

Residence: 102 Elmore Street, Elmore

Appearance

Originally a small orange goldfish, Darwin grew legs and lungs after living on land with the Wattersons.

He has a round orange head, large white eyes with black pupils, and freckles on his cheeks.

His body is orange with fins resembling small arms, and two thin legs ending in green sneakers.

He often displays huge, shining eyes that express innocence or excitement.

In TWWWOG, Darwin’s design keeps his classic look but with slightly smoother outlines, brighter color gradients, and more fluid facial animation. His eyes often reflect light more dramatically to emphasize emotion.

Personality

Kind-hearted and optimistic: Darwin is the moral center of the Watterson family — always seeing the good in others.

Innocent and pure: He approaches life with childlike wonder and rarely holds grudges, even when people mistreat him.

Emotional: Darwin feels everything deeply — whether it’s joy, sadness, or fear, he expresses it sincerely.

Supportive and loyal: He’s Gumball’s voice of reason and emotional anchor, often cleaning up after his brother’s messes.

Naïve but insightful: Although he sometimes misunderstands the world, he can also deliver surprisingly deep wisdom in simple words.

Creative and musical: He loves singing and occasionally breaks into emotional or comedic songs.

In The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, Darwin remains sweet and caring, but he’s shown to be a little more curious and introspective, sometimes questioning Gumball’s reckless ideas rather than automatically following them.

Notable Facts & Traits

First appearance: The DVD (as Gumball’s pet goldfish)

Adoption story: Darwin began as the Wattersons’ pet but grew legs and became part of the family — a running gag the show never fully explains.

Catchphrases:

“Yay!”

“Aww, come on, Gumball!”

“That’s not how it works!”

Best friend/brother: Gumball — they share a deep emotional bond, often hugging or finishing each other’s sentences.

Romantic interest: Carrie Krueger (the ghost girl) — their relationship is gentle, awkward, and very cute.

Favorite activities: Singing, watching cartoons with Gumball, and daydreaming.

Fears: Losing his family, disappointing others, or being alone.

Strengths: Empathy, positivity, strong moral compass.

Weaknesses: Gullibility, over-sensitivity, and being easily manipulated.

In “The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball”

Darwin’s role expands beyond being Gumball’s sidekick — he often questions Gumball’s choices and acts as the conscience of the group.

He occasionally has episodes centered on his self-identity as a fish living among mammals, exploring what makes him unique.

The show portrays his singing talent more prominently, including musical moments that mix comedy with real heart.

Darwin’s kindness often becomes the emotional highlight of an episode — for example, comforting others when Elmore gets even weirder.

Fun Trivia

Darwin was originally supposed to remain a pet fish, but the creators made him evolve into a walking character because they loved his friendship with Gumball.

His full name (with all those middle names) is an exaggerated joke about his “evolution.”

Even though he’s the most innocent family member, Darwin has had wild moments — like losing control in The Matchmaker or obsessing over weird ideas with Gumball.

Fans often describe him as “the heart of the show,” balancing Gumball’s chaos with love and sincerity.

PENNY FITZGERALD

Basic Information

Full name: Penny Fitzgerald

Species: Shape-shifting fairy (formerly an anthropomorphic peanut with antlers)

Age: Around 12–13 years old

Gender: Female

School: Elmore Junior High

Family:

Father: Patrick Fitzgerald

Mother: Judith Fitzgerald

Younger sister: Polly Fitzgerald

Appearance

Original Series (The Amazing World of Gumball)

At first, Penny appeared as a yellow peanut-shaped girl with small antlers and a simple holes in her eyes to see and a mouth.

As an antlered peanut, Penny was normally only seen wearing a pair of orange and tan sneakers with white socks and brown and white wristbands.

Her peanut shell was her magical disguise — hiding her true form.

True Form (after “The Shell” episode)

After she breaks out of her shell, Penny reveals her true self — a glowing, amber-colored fairy-like creature.

She has golden skin, bright yellow eyes, and shimmering energy patterns running across her body.

She also gains magical wings that appear as soft light trails.

Her body can shape-shift into various mystical and emotional forms — including animals, monsters, or abstract shapes depending on her feelings.

Appearance in The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball

Penny’s updated design is more elegant and expressive, with a smoother glow and refined animation effects.

Her energy form has more detail and luminosity.

In flashbacks or comedic scenes, she can temporarily wear her peanut shell again as a disguise or nostalgic reference.

Personality

Kind and mature: Penny is calm, thoughtful, and emotionally intelligent — often acting as the voice of reason among her friends.

Empathetic: She deeply cares about others’ feelings and often mediates conflicts, especially between Gumball and others.

Creative and artistic: She enjoys poetry, drama, and emotional expression.

Brave and confident (after “The Shell”): Once she accepts her real identity, she becomes more open, self-assured, and adventurous.

Romantic: She has a sweet, genuine relationship with Gumball built on mutual understanding and affection.

Playful: Despite her calm demeanor, she enjoys Gumball’s weird humor and occasionally joins in on his antics.

In TWWWOG, Penny’s personality shows slightly more maturity and leadership. She helps her friends navigate Elmore’s new “weirder than ever” situations and encourages Gumball to grow emotionally — without losing his spark.

Notable Facts & Traits

Species lore: Her family are “fairy-like shapeshifters” who hide in peanut shells to blend into society.

Symbolism: Penny’s shell represents self-acceptance — breaking free from it symbolizes embracing who you truly are.

Relationship: Gumball’s longtime crush and later official girlfriend (they start dating after The Shell).

Talents: Acting, singing, shape-shifting, emotional empathy.

Weaknesses: Sometimes insecure about her powers or her impact on others.

Best friends: Masami, Teri, and Carmen (often seen together in school scenes).

Powers:

Shapeshifting: Can transform into mythical or abstract forms tied to her emotions (e.g., dragon when angry, bird when free, puddle when sad).

Levitation and light projection: She can float and emit a soft glow.

In “The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball”

Penny takes on a slightly larger role — she’s more than just Gumball’s girlfriend; she often helps solve moral or magical problems around Elmore.

Her shape-shifting ability is more versatile, used for both comedy and emotional depth.

She encourages Gumball to face change and maturity — serving as a mirror for his emotional growth.

Penny sometimes narrates or comments on Elmore’s strangeness in poetic metaphors, tying into the show’s new “meta” tone.

Her bond with Gumball remains affectionate and funny, but with deeper emotional chemistry than before.

Fun Trivia

Penny’s “true form reveal” in The Shell is considered one of the most emotional moments in the original series.

Her last name, Fitzgerald, is a subtle nod to “F. Scott Fitzgerald,” fitting her elegant and introspective personality.

Her shape-shifting forms are animated using unique mixed media — sometimes 2D, 3D, or painterly effects.

In TWWWOG, she occasionally glows in sync with background music or mood lighting in scenes.

Penny’s relationship with Gumball is one of the few cartoon romances that evolves naturally without losing humor.

COACH R. RUSSO

Appearance

Coach Russo is depicted as a large cube-shaped character (a stylised “giant cube” body) with no visible neck — her head is effectively attached directly to her body/torso.

Her main colour scheme: pink/red body (variously described as “giant red cube” or “pink cube”), with blue hair.

She wears a white T-shirt (or gym shirt) and teal/green athletic pants or warm-up pants.

Facial features: A red ball for a nose, ears on the sides of her head, her eyes, etc. She is very stylised rather than anatomically “normal.”

As a teacher at Elmore Junior High, she appears in gym/sports settings (PE class, gym, etc).

Personality

Although she is the gym teacher (coach) at Elmore Junior High, she is ironically not very athletic: she claims to have won many gold medals in the “Elmore Olympics” but when she is asked to demonstrate, she either fails or shows a still photograph rather than doing the task.

She is somewhat lazy or easily tired, especially in gym contexts — a comedic contrast to her role.

She tends to favour her own daughter (Jamie Russo) and believes her to be the best and most athletic in the class.

She speaks in a somewhat deadpan / monotone style, often serious in tone even when the context is absurd.

Running gags: She tries to whistle and fails (spraying saliva). She boasts about medals that may not exist (e.g., 1986 Elmore Olympics) — suggesting exaggeration or outright lying.

Notable Facts & Trivia

First major appearance is in the episode The Coach (Season 3) where she becomes the new gym teacher.

She is the mother of Jamie Russo.

Although she is female, she is voiced by a male actor (Dan Russell) in the US/UK version.

Her body shape and style play into the show’s surreal aesthetic — a giant cube for a body, no neck, emphasising the over-the-top cartoon world of Elmore.

One of the running in-universe jokes: She claims to have gold medals and “Olympic” titles in Elmore, but given there’s no actual Elmore Olympics, it casts doubt.

Despite her role as gym coach, the irony is that she is not physically impressive — a comedic inversion of expectations. For example:

“Despite being un-athletic, Coach has won three gold medals in trampolining.”

She appears across multiple seasons (as a recurring minor character).

Additional Notes

Because she is a minor character, there isn’t as much deep back-story as some of the main cast, but she serves as a comedic supporting figure around the school/PE-class scenes.

Her design and character traits reflect the show’s tendency to use exaggerated forms and sub-versions of typical school/teacher tropes (gym teacher who can’t really gym, boasting about past glories, etc).

ANAIS WATTERSON

Appearance

Anais is a small pink rabbit. She has long ears, a small white tail, and large expressive eyes.

Typically she wears an orange dress with a white trim (collar and sleeves) and white socks.

Notably, she is much shorter than her older brothers (Gumball and Darwin), reflecting her younger age.

Her nose is red (like her brother Gumball).

Over different seasons, her design evolves: for example, in Season 2, her skin becomes a lighter pink, her body/head size changes slightly, and her eyes shift from oval to round in Season 3.

Personality

Anais is exceptionally intelligent for her age. She often acts as the voice of reason for the Watterson family.

She shows maturity and rational thinking beyond what you’d expect from a 4-year-old (her canonical age) — often solving problems that her older siblings created.

Despite her intellect, she still has moments of childishness and innocence — she enjoys her toys, has emotional reactions, etc.

She sometimes displays a temper or frustration, especially when she feels her intelligence is ignored or when her brothers cause trouble.

Socially, Anais can be awkward or less experienced — even with her high IQ, she sometimes struggles with friends or typical kid interactions.

Notable Facts & Traits

Although only four years old in the series, Anais attends the same school as her older brothers, due to her advanced intellect.

She is often undervalued in the family and by adults because of her age, despite her problem-solving skills.

Anais is named after the younger sister of the show’s creator, Ben Bocquelet.

A few of her recurring quirks:

She loves the character Daisy the Donkey and is emotionally attached to her plush toy.

She has shown skill in sewing, strategizing, and entertaining complex ideas — unusual for someone her age in the show’s context.

Family relationships: She is the younger sister of Gumball Watterson and Darwin Watterson; daughter of Nicole Watterson and Richard Watterson.

PRINCIPAL NIGEL BROWN

Appearance

Principal Brown is depicted as a slug-like creature with a thick coat of brown fur that covers his entire body except for his eyes.

He wears round glasses and often the fur covers most of his facial features, hiding a conventional nose beneath.

Under certain circumstances (e.g., in the episode “The Mystery”), his fur gets burnt or shaved, revealing tan-tinted skin and a more humanoid form beneath.

His voice is soft-spoken with a slight British accent.

Personality

As principal of Elmore Junior High, Brown often appears more preoccupied with his crush on his colleague Miss Simian than with effectively running the school.

He displays arrogance and overstated discipline: he attempts to punish students like Gumball Watterson and Darwin Watterson for misbehavior, yet often shows lack of serious oversight.

Brown is mysterious and inconsistent in identity and behavior: there are running gags about his species, his credentials, and his hidden secrets.

Despite his flaws, there are moments when he does try to take his role seriously and stand up for students — though these are less frequent.

Notable Facts & Trivia

His full name is Nigel Brown.

He does not have a valid principal’s diploma, which is exposed in the episode “The Fraud”.

He has at times been revealed to hold odd side-jobs — e.g., as a rotary brush in a car–wash in one gag.

There’s a recurring gag about his excessive growth of fur, his unknown species, and his extravagant vanity.

MR. SMALL

Appearance

Mr. Small is depicted as a tall, fluffy/cloud-like creature. His body is covered in a thick white fur or fluff, especially dense on his forearms, feet and head.

He wears distinctive clothing: a rainbow-patterned shirt, black bell-bottom pants, and blue & yellow sandals.

He has a small ponytail, long hair (in his younger days), and his eyes are round and coloured lime-green with red pupils (or similar descriptions) depending on season.

His design changes slightly between seasons: for example, in season 2 they added eyebrows and altered his sandals.

Personality

Mr. Small is the school counsellor at Elmore Junior High. His official role: assist students with their problems, life-choices and feelings.

However — his counselling methods are often eccentric, New-Age/hippie style, and practically more confusing than helpful. Many students leave his office still baffled.

He has a mellow, laid-back personality (especially later seasons) with hippie traits: meditation, crystals, New Age paraphernalia, spiritual or “alternative” thinking.

Yet he also has moments of unpredictability: when provoked he can become stern or odd (e.g., using a sock-puppet “Silence Snake” to quiet students).

He sometimes lacks self-awareness: while helping others, he often appears like the one needing help.

Notable Facts & Traits

Full name: Steven “Steve” Small.

He is voiced by Lewis MacLeod in Season 1, and Adam Long from Season 2 onward.

He owns a van named “Janice”, which appears in a few episodes (e.g., the episode about the Void).

He has a running theme of believing in somewhat weird or fringe ideas: for example, in the episode The Void he mentions that “red-heads are the descendants of an alien race.”

Though he identifies as vegetarian and uses alternative medicine, there are contradictory moments (he’s seen eating meat in one episode).

Typical themes: his counselling office has incense, crystals, strangeself-help techniques; he sometimes uses interpretive dance or creative “therapy” methods.

His first appearance was in the episode “The End”.

Age is somewhat ambiguous, but he’s presented as an adult staff member in his 40s.

Additional Notes

Because he is a more minor/supporting character, his back-story isn’t deeply explored — but his design and traits make him memorable for his off-beat style.

His character plays on the stereotype of the “hippie counsellor” in a chaotic school setting, making his interactions with the main characters (Gumball Watterson and Darwin Watterson) both comedic and absurd.

THE REST CHARACTERS

Banana Joe

Appearance:

Banana Joe is an anthropomorphic banana — his body is essentially a banana peel that he treats like clothing, and the bottom end of his body has a sculpted buttock-shape.

He has googly eyes and a clay-like mouth; in early seasons his pupils change shape to show emotion; from Season 2 onwards he acquires eyebrows, his eyes are laid out horizontally and of equal size, and his mouth interior becomes a deeper red.

He lacks feet at least in one episode (“The Promise”) due to frostbite.

His redesign in later seasons makes him larger in scale and slightly more refined visually.

Personality:

Banana Joe is the class clown of Miss Simian’s class at Elmore Junior High. He constantly cracks jokes, attempts stunts and videos, and tries to be funny.

Despite his comedic ambitions, most of his jokes fall flat — either they’re perceived as annoying, childish, or simply misunderstood.

In Season 1 he had a more bullying, teasing attitude toward others (including Gumball & Darwin) but from Season 2 he becomes more likable, friendly, though still dim-witted and clumsy.

He values his family and his online video hobby (recording himself dancing, singing, doing stunts) and tries to be accepted and appreciated.

Facts & Trivia:

Full name: Joseph A. “Joe” Banana.

He views his peel like clothing and has extras stuffed in his clothing drawer.

He has a running gag about being “naked” when he removes his peel.

He appears in many episodes centered around his antics, e.g., “The Banana,” “The Promise,” where he and his family are involved.

Tobias Wilson

Appearance:

Tobias Wilson is described as a “rainbow lad” or multicoloured humanoid — his design is bright, colorful, athletic-looking.

He wears sports or jock-style clothing and carries himself as though he is a stereotypical jock. (Exact visual details may vary in different episodes.)

Personality:

Tobias believes himself to be a heavily built jock whom all girls will love, though the reality is quite different — he is somewhat weak, insecure, and in denial about how he’s perceived.

He tends to be narcissistic, proud, and showy, but his efforts often collapse comically. He pursues girls, tries to display manliness, but often fails.

He is sometimes antagonistic toward Gumball and Darwin (or at least competitive).

Facts & Trivia:

Tobias is listed among the recurring student characters at Elmore Junior High.

His character is used for comedic contrast: very confident on the surface, but often incompetent underneath.

Sarah G. Lato

Appearance:

Sarah is an anthropomorphic ice-cream cone: her ice cream portion is yellow, the cone is orange with brown stripes.

She has thin legs and arms the same color as her head, red lips, yellow irises (one of the few characters with yellow eyes).

Personality:

Sarah is a big fan of Gumball and Darwin — she writes fanfiction, draws comics, and is somewhat obsessed with them.

She is introverted, nerdy, and socially awkward; her obsession with Gumball & Darwin can be unsettling, resembling a stalker archetype.

She also sees the world in terms of sitcom or narrative structure — treating real life like it should fit into her fan-fictions.

Facts & Trivia:

Sarah’s first major role is in the episode “The Sweaters.”

She carries a tape recorder playing a laugh track and music, highlighting her sitcom-obsessed mindset.

Leslie

Appearance:

Leslie is a pink flower character in a blue flower-pot. He has a thin green stem for a body, two long leaves for arms, and green stubby roots as feet under his pot.

His petals are pink, and inside his mouth is colored purple; his tongue is red. He has eyebrows from Season 2 onward.

Personality:

Leslie is gentle, sensitive, somewhat effeminate, and often associated with the girls rather than the boys.

He is musical — plays violin, flute, saxophone in different episodes. He is into fashion and is somewhat vain.

He is Penny’s cousin and has good social skills compared to many classmates.

Facts & Trivia:

The episode “The Flower” reveals that Leslie is directly related to Penny (his cousin).

Although male, his feminine traits led to confusion in some dubbing versions about his gender.

Alan Keane

Appearance:

Alan is a teal-colored rubber balloon character, with his face drawn on as if with marker.

In his early reel he had freckles and a nose, but these were removed for the official series.

Personality:

Alan is portrayed as extremely nice, friendly, considerate, always trying to make everyone happy.

He seems “too good” in many contexts, which sometimes is treated for comedic effect (others are uncomfortable with how perfect he is).

While positive, in one episode (“The Vision”) it’s revealed he secretly plans to take over the world by eradicating sadness — comedic twist of his “nice guy” exterior.

Facts & Trivia:

Alan is in a relationship with Carmen Verde (a cactus character) within the series.

His design change in Season 2 onwards is minor — he becomes slightly brighter colored and rounder.

Teri

Appearance:

Teri is stylised as a paper-cutout bear, resembling a school folder doodle cut out into a bear shape. Her body looks like crumpled paper.

She wears a blazer/uniform-style jacket and has blush lines drawn on her cheeks.

From Season 2 onward she acquires eyebrows; early versions appeared more crudely drawn.

Personality:

Teri is a hypochondriac — she constantly believes she is ill or has diseases, frequently visits the nurse’s office, and worries about germs.

Despite this, she is generally friendly, nice, and well-meaning. Her over-worrying about illnesses is more comedic than malicious.

Facts & Trivia:

Her nickname among fans might be “the hypochondriac paper bear.”

She appears often in episodes dealing with health, germs, or school nurse scenes.

Molly Collins

Appearance:

Molly Collins is a small dinosaur (specifically a sauropod) student. Her body is dark grey, she has a very long neck, and her head is angled so both her eyes show. She has blush lines on her cheeks.

Personality:

Molly is shy, insecure, socially awkward. She enjoys positive things but is regarded by many classmates as “boring.”

She doesn’t pick up on social cues very well; she may blabber on about her life details even when others are disinterested.

Facts & Trivia:

In the episode “The Void” it’s revealed that Molly was considered so “boring” she was erased from existence (sent to the Void). She was later rescued by Gumball, Darwin and Mr. Small.

She may have a crush on Gumball (she kisses him in episode “The Comic”).

Jamie Russo

Appearance:

Jamie Russo is a student at Elmore Junior High, often depicted as tough-looking and in the “bully” role. (Specific distinctive design details may vary per episode.)

Personality:

Jamie is a tomboyish bully — aggressive, mean-spirited, and enjoys picking on weaker classmates.

She views her classmates with contempt and acts without much remorse for her actions. Facts & Trivia:**

Jamie is best friends with Tina Rex (the bully dinosaur) and often engages in the bully dynamic of the show.

She is categorized under the “Mean” students in the school system of the show.
