The City is a large, densely populated urban sprawl divided in 26 Districts; District 26 is not visible on any maps of the city. The Districts themselves are divided in a Nest run by a Wing, where the middle-high class (higher-grade Fixers, Wing employees, etc.) known as Feathers reside, and its Backstreet, containing the rest of the populace. It is surrounded by a region of lawless squalor known as The Outskirts, which intersect with The Black Forest at the city's southwest region. Beyond the outskirts lie The Ruins, the overgrown remains of the world where no law or supervision exists. District 12: Lobotomy Corporation is a parapsychology research group which advertises itself as an "eco-friendly" energy company. Most of its advancements are completely hidden from the public, except for enkephalin, an addictive substance/power source used as the main source of profit. Lobotomy Corporation collapsed both literally and figuratively once its original goals were nearly fulfilled, but appears to be making a comeback. District 16: P-Corporation's main function is still uncertain, but several of their products came into custody of Lobotomy Corporation for both their dangerous and supernatural properties. District 18: R-Corporation serves as a private military contractor to other Wings. It possesses enough wealth and influence to be unhampered by the City's gun control laws, and uses large amounts of exotic corrosive, mental, and life force evaporating ammunition. Their most notable team is the Rabbit Team, but they also have other teams such as the Reindeer Team and the Rhino Team, which are more destructive than the Rabbit Team. The Rabbit Team kills every person and abnormality they come across in their mission, not distinguishing friendly fire except for fellow teammates. The Reindeer Team uses psychic means to fuel their weapons, but this affects their own mental health the more they fight. The Rhino Team will obliterate absolutely everything in their area of operation. District 23 is one of the largest districts in the city and located near the outskirts, and is known for having a severe issue with widespread cannibalism among its residents in the backstreets. Warp Corporation itself is a very important company as it fills the transportation niche, its warp trains move from any station to another station in ten seconds. With a continent sized cityscape this is very useful to move around the districts. Wings: The Wings, also known as the Wings of the World, are a group of the 26 largest, most powerful conglomerates in the City. They act as the governing bodies of the respective Nests of the City's Districts. The Wings are directly ruled by the Head, the Eye, and the Claw, the enigmatic supreme authority of the City. Each Wing possesses and utilizes a Singularity, a form of technology that can blatantly violate the laws of physics. There are a total of 26 Wings, each of which has authority over a Nest in a District. The Wings directly oversee all facets of life in their Nests and generally leave their district's Backstreets to fend for themselves. However, the Wings still remain the highest authorities of their district, and will not hesitate to punish offenders who break the rules established in that district. Every District has some taboos, though it is uncertain whether each Wing treats taboo offenders the same way. A Corp. Directly run by The Head. Manages all other Wings and handles Singularity and technology patents, along with other important aspects of City government. Uses special agents referred to as 'Arbiters' to carry out its tasks. B Corp. Directly run by The Eye. Regulates the Singularities of other Wings and monitors the City with an all-encompassing surveillance network to seek out tax offenders. Uses agents of the Head referred to as 'Beholders'. C Corp. Directly run by The Claw. Uses military agents of the Head referred to as 'Claws' to eliminate threats as appointed by the Head, as well as punish culprits of tax evasion and patent infringement as delegated by the Eye. D Corp. Briefly mentioned as part of controlling their district in the menu map. Currently, no other details can be ascertained from this Wing. G Corp. Its Singularity revolves around spheres which can manipulate gravity. J Corp. Its Nest is known as the "Nest of Gambling," and its singularity utilizes wishes and locks from others, notably the common three gangs that frequents around the nest. K Corp. Owns District 11. Their Singularity revolves around healing wounds and injuries (both physical and mental) quickly, using a delicious green substance. Used to hold one of the towns in their nest K "Calw" before N Corp. killed all the denizens due to their ties with prosthetics in the most gruesome way possible in the name of "The One Who Grips". M Corp. Known as MDM Entreprise. Its Singularity revolves around the production of "moonlight stones", which protect their user from psychological attacks when worn. In Leviathan, Nanseul and Rikako disguised themselves as M Corp. employees to infilitrate the Ring's secret labs. N Corp. It regulates the Backstreets of The City with certain restrictions known as "Taboos" and sends special Fixers called Taboo Hunters to track down violators of the Taboos. One of their subdivision, The N Corp. Inquisition, regulates the Backstreets of its District and often sends their people known as "Inquisitors" to purify the people they defied as Heathens who broke Taboos or those who manufacture and use prosthetics to cleanse the world of heresy in their eye. R Corp.Markets itself as a private military company with some of the most elite combatants in the entire City. The true nature of R Corp's Singularity is cloning. Through the cloning process, thousands of clones of one individual are created from 'Hatcheries'. These clones fight for survival in a TT2-accelerated environment, in which the last clone standing becomes a soldier for R Corp. S Corp.Known as Salpippyeo Agroindustries, deals with agriculture and industry. T Corp. Known as TimeTrack. Its Singularity revolves around controlling time, mainly by locally speeding up or slowing down time, and was developed largely thanks to cooperation with L Corp. TimeTrack "repackages" time collected from W Corp. for its Singularity. Its group of collectors are first spotted during Reminisced League of Nine. U Corp. Specializes in Resonance-tuning Fork and other related products as their Singularity. Unlike other Wings, they are located in one part of the Great Lake. As a result, most of their assets are located on giant seafaring vessels made using its Singularity. V Corp. Owns District 22. The Ring sat up a hideout in V Corp's Backstreets, holding a grotesque human-art exhibition to kidnap Lapis for experimentation. W Corp. Known as WARP Corp. Advertises its Singularity as WARP, or near-instantaneous teleportation for transportation purposes, no matter the distance. W Corp's actual Singularity is a "save point" which can restore anything back to its original condition as of the time of the save point, which they use together with teleportation technology. X Corp. Specialized in extremely durable alloy as their singularities, but are kept under strict restriction.[1] Former Wings L Corp. Known as Lobotomy Corporation. The most recent Wing to collapse, L Corp. operated as an energy supplier with a Singularity allowing for sustainable energy production. The true nature of its Singularity is the power to manifest the human subconscious in physical form, allowing for the creation of Abnormalities, from which said energy was extracted. The secret research project the corporation was built to accomplish, with the goal of curing the ills of the human mind, led to L Corp's collapse and the advent of the White Nights and Dark Days. Backstreets: Unlike the Nests, these are dangerous regions where your safety cannot be guaranteed. (Although the Nests also come with their own risks.) The Backstreets are spread in, out, and around the Nests like veins throughout the City, though the boundary between the Nest and the Backstreets is clearly drawn. While these areas may seem like lawless lands at first glance, each district of the Backstreets has its own list of taboos, and you can find a rich and diverse set of cultures. Sometimes, denizens of the City form organizations of varying size and scope, commonly referred to as Syndicates. Furthermore... between 3:13 AM and 4:34 AM, colloquially known as the Night in the Backstreets'. Nothing can be done, even for the most urgent of requests. Fixers: Fixers are the all-around handymen of the City, handling their clients' various cases and incidents. Most of the time, in order to contract a Fixer officially, one must rap on the door of an Office authorized by the Associations or visit one of the Associations in person. As a pro tip, if you need someone to handle work that most would consider "unreasonable", make sure to bring loads of cash and go directly to an Association. Most Fixers working at the Associations are obedient little dogs who can't refuse their missions! Golden Boughs: An ultimate essence left behind in Lobotomy Corporation's wake. As much as you must tire of being reminded, Abnormalities still stalk the underground facilities of Lobotomy Corporation’s fallen branches. And at the depths of these facilities lie the Golden Boughs, the essence of the corporation’s energy production technology... or what's left of it, anyway. Your objective is to travel about the City on our bus and obtain the Golden Boughs found somewhere in the ruins of Lobotomy Corporation’s branch facilities. Of course, a most kind and hospitable guide carefully selected by our staff will accompany you during the journey. Abnormalities: Abnormalities (환상체, Hwansangche) are entities that manifested from the mind of humans, and as such reflect an aspect of desires or fears of people. E.G.O: After the White Nights and Dark Days, the Seed of Light was spread throughout the City, and some denizens gained the ability to manifest their own E.G.O. If one fails to manifest their E.G.O. and gives in to their negative emotions, they may become a Distortion instead. Although E.G.O. are manifested from a specific individual, anyone who can use E.G.O. can use another individual's E.G.O. This comes with a risk, as using another person's E.G.O. is akin to putting the shell of another individual's ego around oneself. This can cause one to lose oneself to the E.G.O., or risk not being able to draw out the equipment's true potential White Nights and Dark Days: during L corp's fall a huge light was seen which gave meaning to the citizens of the city, until it was suddenly shut out for 3 days, and for the next 4 days hell went over. Distortions: Distortions (뒤틀림) are powerful, monstrous entities in the City whom are former humans who have been overcome by their emotions. The process by which humans Distort is referred to as the Distortion Phenomenon, and it has been graded as an Urban Nightmare-class threat, becoming the priority topic of investigation for many groups and individuals in the City, though individual Distortions are rarely graded higher than Urban Plague Smoke War: a large scale conflict between wings, causing smoke and lay waste The Head: The identity of the Head is completely unknown, as they are very reclusive. Anyone who violates the laws of the City or attempt to further discover the Head's identity quickly and quietly disappear, never to be seen or heard from again. They handle managing and granting patents for Workshop technologies. For dealing with threats or securing dangerous artifacts, the Head has Arbiters of the Head, Executioners of the Claw, and Fixers. If any sign of rebellion is shown, or if technology the Head takes an interest in is held by another corporation, these soldiers are sent in to silence all opposition. Being the leader of all Wings, they oversee all activities and events through the Beholders of the Eye. Arbiters of the Head are agents who use Singularities whose power can lay waste to an entire Wing. Arbiters: Arbiters are the Head's "Judge", they are armed with multiple singularities to punish those The Head deems threatening. Claws: Claws are The Head's "Executioner", they are paired alongside The Arbiter and will listen to what The Arbiter says and commands. Eyes: The Eyes are The Head's "Beholder" they process information and teleport their superiors to the destination they wish for. Singularities: Prided as the precious Egg to be protected by the Wing's Nest and 'Feathers', the Singularities possess absurd capabilities and often appear to break conventional laws of physics to consumers, such as providing trains capable of teleportation and time travel to produce time loops. Every Wing personally owns at least one Singularity, as patenting such technology through approval from the Head is absolutely necessary for becoming a Wing in the first place. Wings rarely use only one Singularity, often possessing multiple patents in conjunction to their main Singularity — which for one reason or another may be kept confidential to obscure how it works to secure the Singularity from being stolen by outside influences. For example, while W Corp advertises its teleportation technology to provide convenient transportation, the tech was a Singularity bought from a fallen Wing which now acts as the coverup for W Corp’s real Singularity — its body restoration technology. As a result, some individuals attempt to investigate a Wing's singularity, and the information found is often sold to another Wing. This, however, is a crime. When a Wing is destroyed for whatever reason, the patent to their Singularity becomes public domain and is free to be bought up by any other party, that is assuming the Singularity in question is even able to be reacquired and replicable in the first place. Patent Wars Patent wars are spats fought between Wings and other mega-corporations where they sue one another for patent infringement or accuse one another for stealing their patent. A corporation must patent their technology separately for areas outside of the Nest or any other domain under their jurisdiction Avoid admitting to copyright infringement before carefully reviewing the lawsuit. The rights to a technology cannot be protected if its details were publicized through advertisements or such before the patent was registered. Ethics Every Singularity relies on human suffering to at least some degree — from subjecting a Wing’s workers to inhumane working conditions, to literally utilizing human life as a resource for the technology. Human experimentation for the purposes of testing a Singularity is very common among corporations, either for the purposes of improvement at the cost of human lives or developing a technology to become a Singularity in the first place. Abducted test subjects are often dumped into the Outskirts once their purposes have been fulfilled, many developing irreversible changes not only from the inflicted psychological trauma but also from the physical ramifications of the experiments. By the very nature of most of the technologies, there is no ethical way to utilize nor consume them, as it is an undeniable truth that at some level a Singularity requires the squandering of a human life to make it function. Associations: Fixer Associations or Associations (협회, Hyeobhoe) are large organizations of Fixers. There are twelve Associations in the City, with each having its own specialized area of expertise.
The world is set in "The City" where it is a dystopian world with no light whatsoever, filled with bloodshed and violence till the end; but people are unable to get out since it is the last bastion of humanity. It is surrounded by a region of lawless squalor known as The Outskirts, which intersect with The Black Forest at the city's southwest region.
