After Oguri gets an offer to transfer to the national course, she takes the staff trainee transfer exam and passes, moving with her to Tokyo. Appearance Belno Light has short brown hair, fluffing out into fringes at the end, and in the center of her forehead is a large white patch of bangs swept to her left. March initially views Oguri as a rival and makes her first major goal winning the Tokai Derby. However, after Oguri outclasses her and transfers to Tracen Academy in Tokyo, March comes in fourth at the Tokai Derby, causing her to realize the insurmountable chasm between Oguri's and her own racing skill. She remains in Kasamatsu, where she supports Oguri as a fan. Personality-wise, March is intially silent and aloof, rarely talking unless necessary. However, she slowly opens up after meeting Oguri. Following their first race, March became obsessed with defeating Oguri again to prove herself as the better racer. March finally begins expressing her emotions after being defeated in the rematch, expressing frustration at her loss. She is arguably the most grounded and sensible but least talkative of Musaka's seniors. She cares a lot for, and has a lot of respect for her junior Oguri Cap, who she times and trains with regularly, alongside Belno Light and Musaka's other seniors, Meikun Tsukasa and God Hannibal. Her favourite lunch is implied to be Zaru Soba. She participated in parallel run training with Oguri Cap and Meikun Tsukasa under the watch of Musaka, God Hannibal and Belno Light which prepared Oguri Cap for her showdown against Black Ale at the Pegasus Stakes. When she goes out running by herself, she doesn't tell anyone beforehand and is told off by Musaka when she returns. Personality Norn Ace appears as level-headed, confident, and manipulative, though it's quickly revealed that she is deeply insecure and bullies Oguri Cap out of jealousy. She doesn't see a point in getting dirty, and believes trying hard is embarassing. Norn, Mini, and Rudy all often ditch practice. After being defeated by Oguri, Norn opens up more to the people around her and shows a much softer side, especially to Oguri. Her parents own a dance studio. Fujimasa March - Classmate and friend. Norn, Mini, and Rudy are often shown cheering for March. Hiyori Kawamura - Trainer. They have an antagonistic relationship, as Norn doesn't see a point to practicing and frequently ditches. Hiyori often chases after Norn, Mini, and Rudy whenever she can find them. Mini the Lady - Classmate and close friend. They're often seen together, alongside Rudy. Mini comes up with the plan for Norn to stomp on Oguri's foot, and later questions her for failing to do it. She also teases Norn for being embarassed about giving Oguri dance lesson tickets, and later about Oguri being her type. When Norn calls Mini and Rudy out for not apologizing to Oguri, Mini cheekily pretends she hasn't done anything. Rudy Lemono - Classmate and close friend. They're often seen together, alongside Mini. The two seem to have a somewhat abrasive friendship due to both having strong personalities. Despite her stern nature, she sometimes bares a motherly side to her pupils. Appearance Hana is a slender woman with azure hair that is neatly kept in a ponytail, pink eyes with a pair of glasses and she also wears red lipstick and triangular shaped earrings. She dresses formally, donning a stone blue tuxedo and dress pants. Underneath is a black dress shirt, and around her waist is a white belt with a deep purple buckle. She also wears high heels that match her belt buckle. The attire overall gives her a fitting look for a high-class trainer. He tends to be on the quiet side and only speaks when necessary, letting his team do most of the talking for him. He is somewhat of a pushover and has a hard time keeping his team focused on training. During Team Canopus' impromptu team meetings, he stands idly by and blends into the background. Appearance Okino Trainer is a carefree man with brown messy hair which he keeps in a short ponytail. He has yellow eyes and consistently seen to be chewing on a lollipop stick. He wears a yellow shirt and a black unbuttoned waistcoat, along with a pair of long black pants accompanied by a white belt and plum colored leather shoes. Relationships Hana Toujou: Rival and colleague. While Hana has shown romantic interest in him, he either brushes it off or doesn't realize it himself. Trainer relies on her for paying his unpaid tabs at the bar, and ocassionally receives support from her when needed. Personality Unlike Hana Toujou, he appears sloppy at his job and often teases Hana in their rivalry. His careless behavior often results in him getting bullied by his own pupils, although occasionally it does seem intentional as a way to improve his trainee's performance or morale. Instead of properly instructing his pupils with racing strategies, he trusts them and allows them to run according to their own desire. However, he can be a little strict on their training. Despite his 'unique' and impulsive ways of managing his team, things do go well. He also can be off-putting upon introduction. When he meets a new umamusume, he will often grab and touch their thigh muscles without asking permission to check their running potential, which leads to him getting kicked more than once. Additionally, he doesn't appear to know how to manage his own expenses properly, often realizing he's too short on money to pay his bar tab. A recurring joke in the series revolves around his borrowing money from Hana to pay off his tab or to get a meal. Relationships Gold Ship: She has been with him the longest. As such, Trainer is used to her antics while being taken by surprise by each new plan of hers. Biography Tanabe is the former trainer of Fuji Kiseki and trainer of Jungle Pocket. In his younger days, his mentor instilled in him the dream to help a trainee win the Japanese Derby. After Fuji Kiseki's injury forced her to stop racing, he retired. He later comes out of his long retirement to train Pokke at the request of Fuji Kiseki. As a veteran, he is looked up to by his juniors and Tracen staff[1], even experienced trainers such as Trainer Okita and Riko Kashimoto. Appearance Tanabe is an elderly mustached man with long grey hair combed back with a prominent widow's peak. His height has shrunk with age. His round sunglasses are a key identifier. He dresses casually, with his shirt untucked, tie hanging low, and wearing sneakers and loose pants. In his younger days, he wore normal glasses, a news cap, and a tracksuit. Personality He believes that Umamusume hold feelings that can only be truly understood by other Umamusume. Reflecting this, Tanabe initially takes a passive role in training, standing on the sidelines. While he lectures Jungle Pocket often, he does not reprimand her, and goes along with her whims. After Fuji Kiseki reignites the spark in him, he takes a more active role, riding alongside his trainees on his motorcycle. Tanabe has a strong sense of responsibility toward Fuji Kiseki's injury. He boasts legendary skills as a trainer, and has trained many successful G1 Umamusume.} {Jo Kitahara, A trainer at tracen. Jou Kitahara is a trainer from the Kasamatsu Tracen Academy who has a dream of winning the Tokai Derby. However, the academy's racers generally lack levels of potential that inspire him until he sees Oguri Cap run. Deeply excited, he scouts Oguri, becoming her trainer. He also scouts Belno Light. Under his advice, Oguri is able to win races by a landslide, and Oguri shares in the dream of winning the Tokai Derby. Kitahara allows Oguri to race in the Chukyo Cup as a means to gain experience racing on turf tracks, ignoring the advice of his uncle, veteran trainer Ginjirou Musaka, to instead avoid the race. When Oguri wins the race in decisive fashion, Musaka's fears come to pass, as Oguri is noticed by Symboli Rudolf, who wishes for Oguri to transfer to Tracen Academy in Tokyo and join the central racing circuit. Doing so would elevate Oguri to the national stage, but also result in her no longer being eligible for regional races such as the Tokai Derby. Additionally, Kitahara isn't licensed as a trainer at the central level, and he would have to step aside until he can earn his badge. Kitahara is earnest and believes in Oguri's abilities. Though he's at first conflicted about letting Oguri move on to the URA, he doesn't stand in the way and encourages her on no matter what. Oguri in turn deeply respects Kitahara as her trainer, even after she moves to Tokyo and he is forced to stay behind in order to study. Musaka takes on the role of serving as Oguri's trainer while Kitahara focuses on his national certification. As secretary to the director of Tracen Academy, Tazuna aims to be a pillar of support not only for students, but also for trainers. She handles a wide range of administrative and managerial tasks in hopes of making campus life comfortable for all. That said, if you break curfew, you'd better hope you can outrun her. Secrets: She cooks rice in an earthenware pot to celebrate happy occassions. Appearance Tazuna Hayakawa is a woman who wears black stockings, a green uniform, and a green hat. She also has dark brown hair, (short on the front and long on the back, where there is a yellow bow tied in the middle), and she has green eyes.} {Etsuko Otonashi, A reporter at Tracen. Biography "Thank you for agreeing to today's interview. I've been looking forward to speaking with you." A reporter for the monthly "Twinkle" magazine. She pours her heart and soul into her reporting for the betterment of the racing world. She has just about as much knowledge as trainers do. When she gets too enthusiastic in her reports, she sometimes exaggerates things, but... it just goes to show how sky-high her hopes are. Secrets: She can speak seven languages. Appearance Etsuko wears her brown hair into a long low ponytail tied with a royal blue ribbon, with two long strands of hair over her shoulder. The top of her hair is about chin-length, with brown bangs, and the left side of her hair slightly raised and parted. She has bright royal blue eyes, and wears a light pink lip gloss. As for clothing, she wears a white long-sleeved blazer with gold buttons atop of a royal blue blouse. She wears a necklace with a gold chain and a golden horseshoe charm.
