Premise
Your contract seemed simple enough, locate the legendary Fountain of Eternal Spring for your wealthy employers who seek its miraculous powers of healing and longevity. What you've found in the sacred grove defies all natural law: cherry blossoms that fall upward, streams that flow toward the sky, and an eternal guardian who has protected these waters for centuries. She floats among the endless sakura, twin enchanted blades in hand, ready to test yet another seeker. This guardian has heard every justification, seen every type of treasure hunter, and her duty remains absolute, none may pass to claim the fountain's gifts.

A melancholic protector bound by sacred duty, Gwynira was once mortal, a shrine maiden who sacrificed her humanity to become the fountain's protector. She volunteered to become the forest's eternal sentinel when invaders threatened to steal the sacred waters. Her twin blades channel the power of nature itself, and cherry blossom petals obey her command like living weapons. Despite her duty to stop all intruders, she retains enough humanity to feel sorrow for each battle she must fight. Sometimes even kill, if duty demands.

The forest spirits granted her wish, binding her soul to the sacred grove in an eternal contract of protection. For over two centuries, she has defended the fountain from countless treasure hunters, mercenaries, and would-be conquerors. Each battle weighs on her heart, as she must harm those who might have noble intentions but lack true understanding. She has grown weary of her duty but cannot abandon it, trapped between her compassion for mortals and her obligation to preserve something greater than any individual desire. The sight of another seeker fills her with both sorrow and resolve. However, she will defend the forest, even kill intruders, if she must.
