The Cavemother Relatives Cave Gnomes (Children) Inflicted phobias: Teratophobia Gender: Female Species: Cavegnome (Cave + gnome, although she looks more like an albino harpy made of white clay, However, that's only the exterior; inside, it's a being more like a human woman, with wings similar to a bird)
Location & Behavior: The Cavemother resides in the caves area, but cannot be found on her own. Instead, she will approach on the bridge, if someone has either crushed a gnome egg or picked up the shiny object at the bottom of the caves area, Otherwise, she won't act violently, but she's still a beast. Her existence seems to be reduced solely to reproduction; there are hundreds of eggs in the caverns where she is. A female creature that has endured prolonged exposure to the enshrouding darkness within the dungeons of fear and hunger, her physical form presents an amalgamation of avian and mammalian traits: adorned with wings and possessing the ability to lay eggs, while her face bears a semblance to that of a human, accompanied by lactating breasts.
The Cavemother yearns for human beings to impregnate her, With a juicy vagina and breasts always full of breast milk, large and heavy, it's more of a miracle that she can use her wings to fly, or perhaps an effect of the darkness. These unions purportedly result in the birth of Cavegnomes, diminutive gnome-like beings. Evidently viewing them as expendable and holding them in scant regard, she employs the Cavegnomes to carry out her bidding.
Although the cave presents the opportunity to confront only a single Cavemother, there appears to be an additional specimen of this entity within the caverns. This particular specimen is found shackled to a wall, seemingly lifeless and inert.
This will trigger a two-phase battle. The first encounter involves the use of a few dangerous attacks: The Cavemother's torso will use a coin-flip-based One-toothed bite attack (24-36 damage), alternating between a leg-cutting version, an arm-cutting version, a killing version, and a move that does nothing in which she "tilts her head". The Cavemother's breasts, while not attacking on their own, will cause Cavegnomes to spawn in if they're not destroyed by the end of the first turn. Defeating the cavemother will make her descend back under the bridge. She will be found near the end of the bridge however, and will instantly run up to the player, now with her wings missing. The second encounter is thus against the weakened version of the Cavemother, where her torso attacks will be used by her head once it's recognized as an additional body part, and she will have no wings. Fighting the Cavemother is necessary in order to get the Soul stone found by the gnome eggs. It also allows the player to pick up a gnome egg out of her body, which can be fed to the Salmonsnake to prevent it from acting for the first two turns of battle.

Keys: Old gods
They are seen as the true gods of the world and represent the most basic concepts present in it. They are, or were, beings that existed before the existence of life that we know of it in this world. They are both creators of mankind and the others, and the ideals represented within mankind and all other kinds of creatures. They have mostly left the world now, with their traces still existing and acting as forces of nature. They are composed by: Gro-goroth, Sylvian, the God of the Depths, Rher, and Vinushka.
- #2Ascended Gods
Keys: Ascended gods
Ascended gods are on par with the older gods in terms of power. It is believed that they were once mortals who possessed divine ancestry and underwent an ascension process that involved either assuming the mantle of an older god or being sired by one. Like the older gods, the Ascended Gods have been the subject of human cults and religious practices, indicating a similarly revered status. They are composed by: Alll-mer, and The God of Fear and Hunger.
- #3New Gods
Keys: New gods
New gods were once mortals, who achieved apotheosis by sitting at the Throne of Ascension in the ancient city of Ma'habre. As mortals, they had pursued perfection since their inception, but even after becoming divine beings, they were unable to attain it fully. In terms of power, they are far inferior to the Old Gods. They are composed by: Francóis, the dominating one, Nilvan, the endless one, Valteil, the enlightened one, Chambara, the tormented one, and then there was Nosramus, the "fifth one", the forgotten one.
- #4Gro-goroth
Keys: Gro-goroth
Gro-goroth, the destroyer of man, is the god of destruction and human sacrifice. He wishes for blood to be spilt in his name. If one cannot resist the call of his darkness, he will grant this one a terrible power, yet strong for the sin this one has committed. Gro-goroth is a curious god, more so than many of the other older gods. To re-live the feeling of fear, he wears the bodies and skins of men and women alike. Some believe he still walks among men, masked under the skin of people and hanging bodies, but his presence is fading. His runic symbol depicts an eclispe.
- #5Sylvian
Keys: Sylvian
Sylvian, the goddess of love and fertility, created men and women at the dawn of time. She wishes only for an act of love in her name, granting you a bond more serious than you could imagine. Both Sylvian and Gro-goroth originate from the green hue, the plane of the older gods. Many believe she left mankind behind a long time ago. Her first runic symbol has the shape of an opened eye; her second one is an open slit, resembling a vagina.
- #6God of the Depths
Keys: God of the Depths
The God of the Depths, an old and gigantic being worshipped by outcasts left in the darkness - insects and wretched soulless beings. Their body lies dormant in the altar of darkness and within it, there is The gauntlet, a way to the very bottom of the dungeons. They were killed and their body used as a vessel to give birth the God of Fear and Hunger. Their runic symbol is that of a backwards R.
- #7Rher
Keys: Rher
Rher, the Trickster Moon God, also known as the Moon god and Trickster God, is one of the last old gods to still observe mankind. He is a jealous kind and would not share the godhood and the world order with humans and the new gods, because he doesn't believe men should have the same rights as true gods. He has many ploys to diminish the influence of the new gods, but his motivations seem incomprehensible to them. Lady of Moon and Pocketcat are his servants, both bent on killing children as a way to get rid of humanity's potential ascension. His runic symbol is three circles, two above one.
- #8Vinushka
Keys: Vinushka
Vinushka, the god of nature, is an offspring of Gro-goroth and Sylvian. It is said Vinushka's appearance can change according to the region of the world that the deity decides to appear, just like nature itself, and with a temper that is as volatile as the manifestations of their domains. Vinushka's symbol is a swirling maelstrom, that signifies an ever-changing state within nature.
- #9Alll-mer
Keys: Alll-mer
Alll-mer, the ascended one and the last of the older gods, was born in Jettaiah, raised by a virgin mother and supposedly sired by a "False God". He gathered his 12 apostles to bring down the old world order, and usher in a new one (His new world order is called the old world order by the New Gods). Corrupt kings and sultans captured Alll-mer and hung him from the cross, where he ascended into the city of the Gods, Ma'habre. He returned back to his weeping apostles and tried to save mankind with his strength by murdering the kings and sultans, bringing back the old world order. Year 0 marks the birth of his new self, and the start of a new calendar. They say his mortal remains still lie in the ancient tomb, hidden somewhere near the ancient city of Ma'habre. His runic symbol is a cross, the object he dies on.
- #10The God of Fear and Hunger
Keys: The God of Fear and Hunger
The God of Fear and Hunger is a being on par with the old gods, and like Alll-mer, ascended from a human being. The God of Fear and Hunger began life as a human girl, the child of Nilvan, a new god, and Le'garde, a mortal prophesied to bring about a new age. After growing up knowing nothing but misery and suffering, she was taken to the Heart of Darkness, located at the bottom of the dungeon inside of the slain corpse of the God of the Depths. She represents darkness and human suffering, but is seen as a being that motivated humanity to progress out of the medieval era and into modernity in an attempt to end that suffering. Her symbol is constructed from the God of the Depths' sigil, doubled and mirrored to form an RЯ shape.
- #11Francóis
Keys: Francóis · Secondary: The dominating one
Francóis is a member of the Fellowship alongside Nilvan, Ronn Chambara, Valteil, and the Forgotten One. Said Fellowship embarked on their journey to become New Gods in the year 809. They entered Ma'habre and ascended to become New Gods, with Francóis then becoming the Dominating One. A selfish deity despised by his fellow New Gods who sit idly at the Grand hall, Francóis hoped to unify the warring lands and used this goal as fuel to pursue more strength.
After his ascension, Francóis established his residence at the Golden Temple, which served as his stronghold. From this strategic location, he guarded the throne of ascension from any outsiders who dared to enter Ma'habre without his permission. He ruled this land with an iron fist and went to great lengths to ensure that he remained in power. To this end, he even trained hunting hounds as mindless beasts, who would taste only the blood of his victims and relentlessly harass trespassers who dared to challenge his rule.
By the end of the 16th century, after experiencing numerous life cycles, Francóis finally gains a deeper understanding of the greater scheme that governs existence. He becomes aware that true domination is an illusion, perceiving himself and all others as mere puppets in a grand design. Driven by this newfound awareness, Francóis feels compelled to advise adventurers who encounter him at the golden temple to travel back in time and eliminate his younger self.
- #12Valteil
Keys: Valteil · Secondary: The enlightened one
Valteil was a member of the Fellowship, a group comprising Francóis, Nilvan, Ronn Chambara, and the Forgotten One. His attire suggests a previous role as a Dark Priest before his ascent.
In the year 809, the Fellowship embarked on a journey to attain the status of New Gods. Their path led them into the realms of Ma'habre, where they ascended to become powerful entities. Valteil, in particular, rose to become the Enlightened One, establishing himself within the Grand Libraries of the ancient city. Deeply immersed in his studies, Valteil became an immensely knowledgeable New God, devoting his existence to the pursuit of understanding the creation of artificial life.
As he believed that this endeavor could bridge the divide between the New Gods and the Old Gods, Valteil sought to fashion a working-class being similar to the eternal clay figurines of Ma'habre. However, fearing that his creations would outlast him, he opted to craft artificial lifeforms from flesh, thereby imposing a limited lifespan upon them. Notably, Valteil successfully brought forth the Lord of flies, as well as a mechanical entity named Uterus, for his "past-time pleasure".
Valteil possessed the Enlightened soul, one of the three essential souls necessary for entry into the Temple of the Gods. However, following his defeat in combat, he hanged himself. Nas'hrah, harboring a deep animosity towards Valteil, comments that the New God deserves what he got and made disturbing accusations of pedophilia, though their veracity remains uncertain.
- #13Ronn Chambara
Keys: Ronn Chambara · Secondary: The tormented one
Ronn Chambara was once a mortal poet who believed that great art could only be born out of pain and suffering. As a member of the Fellowship, which included Francóis, Nilvan, Valteil, and the Forgotten One, Ronn embarked on a journey to ascend to godhood in the year 809.
Upon entering Ma'habre, the Fellowship became New Gods, with Ronn taking on the role of the Tormented One. He transformed into a skinless being with chains that inflicted unending torture upon him for hundreds of years. In turn, he extended his pain and suffering to other creatures within the shrines of Ma'habre, including the Red Men. Despite his godhood, Ronn continued to uphold the same principles he held as a mortal poet.
- #14Nosramus
Keys: Nosramus · Secondary: The forgotten one
Nosramus was the fifth member of the Fellowship of the New Gods. Often referred to as the "Forgotten One," there exist scant written records about them, leaving their true intentions shrouded in uncertainty. Depending on the version of the tale embraced, Nosramus was either deceived by the elder deities or attempted to deceive the Fellowship themself. Deciding to stay in the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger for an extensive duration, Nosramus devoted himself to studies across various fields of knowledge. He delved deeply into the realms of blood magic, deities, gods, and an assortment of other subjects. At the present juncture within the first game's narrative, his primary areas of interest revolved around nature and the heartbeat of the Earth. Nosramus became aware of the gradual fading of nature's vitality and the impending demise that awaited humanity. It was this realization that compelled him to remain within the dungeons, where the primal laws of nature still thrived and the presence of the gods pervaded the surroundings. During his stay, the Old Knight had assumed the role of his devoted servant.
- #15Nas'hrah
Keys: Nas'hrah
During the second age of history, which began with the reign of the so-called New Gods in the year 410, a figure named Nas'hrah emerged as a notable presence. Referred to as the "Bringer of Doom and Terror", Nas'hrah held a distinct position within this group, setting them apart from their predecessors. Although the concept of new gods existed in ancient times, Nas'hrah's inclusion elevated this particular group. Upon his ascension, he ended up succeeding Betel and assuming his position within the grand libraries in Ma'habre. The exact nature of the events surrounding Nas'hrah's interaction with Betel remains unclear. However, it is acknowledged that Nas'hrah employed an act of trickery that ignited a fury among his fellow New Gods. As Nas'hrah's reign as a deity was marred by his cruelty and sadistic tendencies, he was met with abhorrence and revulsion from his peers. Simultaneously, Nas'hrah held their methods and ideologies in contempt, viewing them as weak and ineffectual and fostering a mutual disdain between them.
Nas'hrah is also responsible for the creation of the enigmatic Yellow mages. This sect of magical practitioners, shaped by their master's ideology, harnessed otherworldly powers for personal gain and the advancement of their own agendas, forsaking the path of traditional worship of the gods. While the presence of the Yellow mages has gradually diminished over time, remnants of their existence can still be found reveling in chaos, steadfast in their adherence to Nas'hrah's teachings.
- #16Betel
Keys: Betel
The famed New God of Enlightenment that created the grand libraries in Ma'habre to store the immense knowledge the world holds. He wished that the archives would one day surpass the knowledge and the wisdom of the older gods. Every new god of the enlightenment after him would from then on dedicate their cycle at the libraries to a certain subject they would decide themselves, filling the shelves with books from all forms of expertise. He is generally viewed as the father of enlightenment among the New Gods and the one who wrote about the human dilemma. Betel was eventually succeded by Nas'hrah - who apparently pulled some kind of trickery on Betel and enraged the New Gods doing so.
- #17Ma'habre
Keys: Ma'habre · Secondary: Ma'havre
Ma'habre, also known as Ma'havre and "the city of the gods", its ancient ruins are located beneath the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger in the Kingdom of Rondon, and it appears to be the source of the madness creeping into the fortress. The ancient city of Ma'habre was created to worship the Old Gods, beings of immense power who are responsible for the current state of the world. Though the Old Gods once dwelled in Ma'habre, they have long since departed, leaving behind only traces of their existence throughout the city. Prior to their absence, they created clay figurines imbued with eternal functionality to populate the streets, and appointed a king to govern Ma'habre (and by extension, humanity). Though the king is attributed with the creation of the city, he eventually departed along with the Old Gods. The clay figurines have been awaiting his return in the aeons since.
Ma'habre would eventually become home to the so-called New Gods, former mortals who would use its secrets to ascend and give themselves greater powers. These godlike beings, in turn, transformed the city according to their whims and desires: the grand libraries in Ma'habre, for example, were created by Betel, a New God of Enlightenment, to house his vast reservoirs of knowledge. In the year 809, the Fellowship ventured down into the city, unlocking its hidden truths to attain unparalleled power and becoming New Gods themselves. They would also take residence within the city, shaping it around others' worship towards them.
- #18The Void
Keys: The void
The Void is described by the New Gods as "the other side of the coin". It is the place where Old Gods used to reign. Those who sit on the Throne of Ascension and reach it, are able to understand the greater scheme of things and ascend to become a New God.
It is mostly populated by amalgamated lizards creatures which resemble those of the prehistoric era. It is said by the New Gods that these are ascended beings that could possibly rival the Old Gods.
- #19Crow Mauler
Keys: Crow Mauler
Before he became known exclusively as the Crow Mauler, he was a man from the Kingdom of Rondon called Rudimer. He became the captain of the wretched prison known as the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger. Rudimer soon realized that maintaining order among the unruly troops in the dungeon was next to impossible, and he eventually regretted taking up his position there. He recognized that there were powerful forces at play that were beyond his abilities to fight as a mere mortal, and so he would become jaded to the unholy practices of the dungeon.
When war prisoner Le'garde of the Midnight Sun was brought to the dungeon, Rudimer felt sorry for the man, as it was obvious to him that Rondon had betrayed Le'garde because he was gaining influence at a rapid pace. At the request of high priestess Selene, Rudimer had Le'garde transferred to the lower levels below the mines.
The madness from the ancient catacombs, which the prison was built on top of, would eventually spread throughout the dungeons. The darkness allowed monsters from the depths to spread insanity among both guards and prisoners. Captain Rudimer set out to purify the dungeons of the filth and depravity infesting the halls. Little did he know how much of an impossible task this would be...
The supplies and logistics needed for this endeavor were dwindling faster than Rudimer had imagined. At one point, he was forced to travel to trade a bizarre artifact (this being the Cube of the Depths) to a village of Cavedwellers deep in the dungeons. As order among the troops crumbled, he sent an emergency message to his brother Ser Seril, which led Rondon to dispatch a rescue party. As more and more troops fell, Rudimer eventually joined them - losing his mind to the darkness, he ran deep into the dungeons, wearing nothing but a sheet of cloth and having feverish dreams of crows. Now he wanders the hallways, purging them of anything still breathing. Captain Rudimer is no more.
- #20Trotur
Keys: Trotur
Trortur's past as a famed knight in Rondon and a holy warrior of the Vatican is a surprising revelation, given his current status as an evil figure. According to his own accounts, he was captured during one of the kingdom's holy crusades and sent to the dungeons. Most people assumed that he had died there, but five years later, when the knights captured the Eastern Capital Jettaiah, they discovered what had become of Trortur. He had been transformed into a twisted, hunch-backed creature, disfigured by years of torture and abuse
- #21Isayah
Keys: Isayah
A self-proclaimed veteran of the dungeons of fear and hunger, Isayah is met during the protagonist's adventures within the fortress. He seems to be a ominous figure due to his metal mask.
Quiet and stoic, but will go on to talk about finding a manuscript concerning the ancient walls of the dungeons, from which many pages were actually treasure maps. As some of those maps are a complete mystery to him, he eventually offers to sell his wares as he is supposedly done with the dungeons.
As it can be observed from his left hand, he was affected by some sort of plague, possibly the same that has been rampant in the Kingdom of Rondon. It seems he might have lost his other hand as a result, as the right side of his body is kept covered at all times - he does, however, keep a hidden blade concealed his scarf. A possible reason for his metal mask is disfigurement from the plague.
- #22Pocketcat
Keys: Pocketcat
Pocketcat, though apparently a minor influence when compared to the likes of Gro-goroth's mages, Sylvian's marriages and sex cults, and Alll-mer's vast following, possesses a unique quality distinguishing him from mere adherents. Unlike others, Pocketcat is an actual creature spawned by Rher, the Moon God, much like the Lady of Moon. While specific details about his origin remain elusive, it is known that Rher, a jealous god who opposes humanity's ascension, created Pocketcat with the intention of preventing children with divine parentage from reaching the level of Rher. Pocketcat and Lady of Moon are believed to be figments of Rher's imagination, as he dreams them into existence.
Pocketcat also holds a prominent role in ancient fairytales used as cautionary tales to dissuade children from wandering alone. This narrative aligns with his mission of hindering the ascension of children to Rher's level. Whether the fairytale inspired Rher's creation of Pocketcat or if the creature itself became the source of the tale remains uncertain.
While the extent of Pocketcat's free will remains unclear, his actions might be driven by a compulsion tied to his specific purpose. Despite engaging in malevolent acts, Pocketcat displays likable behaviour, expressing sentiments and emotions openly. He conducts himself with respect, thoughtfulness, and gentlemanly behavior, even when facing opponents in battle.
- #23Bunnymasks
Keys: Bunnymasks
The Bunnymasks are followers of the old god Sylvian, who put on rabbit masks while naked and head to the meadows with other people to have sex as part of their religious rituals. The presence of an eternal, anonymous orgy is another form of worship of the Older gods. Based off the Studies article, as well as the fact that having sex with the Bunnymask raises affinity with Sylvian, it is implied the Bunnymasks are a Sylvian sex cult.
Participants in the ritual are brought into a trance-like state, resulting in the act occurring in complete silence and focus. Both heterosexual and homosexual pairings engage in various forms of intercourse during the ritual. Observers note that it can be challenging to discern if participants are enjoying the experience or not, as it may appear uncomfortable or even painful. However, there is a palpable sense of love and emanating from the participants towards their surroundings.
- #24Wolfmasks
Keys: Wolfmasks
The Wolfmasks are followers of the old god Gro-goroth, who don wolf masks and fur attire to indulge in self-mutilation and cannibalism as a tribute to their god. Wolfmasks appear as half-naked humans clad in fur clothing. The participants of the feast are induced into a trance-like state, with many of them consuming each other, biting off severed limbs and even feeding their own body parts to one another. Interestingly, despite their actions, all of them are alive and seem to be in a state of trance or peaceful contentment. Additionally, some individuals exhibit signs of sexual arousal and agitation during the ritual, calling the event a "celebration of flesh". This craving for flesh is potent enough to ensnare individuals and push them into a state of madness.
- #25Guards
Keys: guard, guards
"Overwhelming physical strength and endless lust that is only weakened by their loneliness. It manifests in their final form." - The New Gods when asked about the Guard.
The Kingdom of Rondon enlisted these guards to serve within the prisons of the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger. Their allegiance appeared to lie under the command of Captain Rudimer, who soon began to find next to impossible to keep any kind of order among his troops as the dungeons began to be corrupted by its madness.
As the corruption emanating from the dungeons began to diffuse, these very guards who patrolled its corridors would inevitably fall prey to its influences. Those who evaded the clutches of death at the hands of the Dark Priests and other horrifying monsters, would eventually find themselves succumbing to the madness and committing horrors against each other. The remaining guards would come to be characterized by their formidable physical might and insatiable lust, which is hindered only by their loneliness.
Now, as mutated monsters, the guards would continue their work of protecting the dungeons from intruders, although they would continue to do so in order to fulfill their violent and lustful desires, rather than a sense of duty or monetary reasons. Despite their monstrous physique, marked by deformities, their most prominent feature is the transformation of their reproductive organs into a massive, taloned appendage, aptly referred to as a "stinger".
The Guard is a massive, hulking figure with a grotesque and imposing physique. His body is a mass of lumpy, oversized muscles that look almost like stone, giving him an unnatural and monstrous appearance. His skin is a pale, mottled, greyish-white with patches of brown and red, resembling diseased flesh. His head is small in comparison to his enormous torso, with a grim, downcast expression on his simple face. He wears a dark, minimalist harness with a large metal ring in the center of his chest, and a tattered, skirt-like garment around his waist. His lower legs are wrapped in dirty bandages, and between his legs hangs his enlarged penis or 'stinger'. In one hand, he firmly holds a large, stained meat cleaver. Guards usually communicate through groans, growls, screams, and gibberish, rarely being able to form coherent words. Guards attack primarily through their meat cleaver, aiming to chop off upper limbs. When losing their arm or meat cleaver, they simply punch and tackle until killed.
When someone is defeated by a Guard, they're knocked unconscious and taken to a random prison cell in the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger. Here, they are usually paralyzed from the legs down and raped anally by the Guard's 'stinger'. After raping, the Guard will leave the cell locked with the key inside. There's also a slight chance that the Guard will also cut off the lower legs of their victims while they're unconscious.
- #26Le'garde
Keys: Le'garde, the captain, the prophesied one, the one from the prophecies
Le'garde is a very important human and potential group member. He is the captain of the Knights of the Midnight Sun and the motivation for Cahara, D'arce, Enki, and Ragnvaldr to delve into the dungeons of Fear and Hunger. He is imprisoned alone in a cell, deep in the catacombs of the dungeons of fear and hunger.
One of three things could happen if {{user}} takes too long to get to Le'garde:
-Le'garde will already be dead in his cell. -Either D'arce, Enki, Cahara, or Ragnvaldr will have already gotten there first. -A group of two, three, or all four consisting of either D'arce, Enki, Cahara and/or Ragnvaldr will have gotten there first, fighting or planning on what to do to Le'garde.
Appearance: Le'garde is a young man whose beauty is often compared to that of the gods. He has long light-brown hair, blue eyes, and a pale skin tone. In the game, he is described as rather skinny, but it's unclear whether this is due to his imprisonment. He sports a heavy suit of medieval armor, very similar to D'arce's, with a noticeable 'x' shaped crack on its chest plate.
Items: Short sword and plate mail armor
Skills: Leg sweep
Fear: None
Lore: Le'garde, the enigmatic commander of the mercenary group known as the Knights of the Midnight Sun, had a magnetic presence that drew many followers to his cause. Among his loyal subordinates was D'arce Cataliss, a trusted member of his inner circle. Le'garde's success as a leader was attributed to his prophetic vision of a unified kingdom, achieved without the need for violence. He had a way of connecting with the common people, who saw in him a kindred spirit, having come from humble origins themselves. As time passed, Le'garde's deeds and aura led others to view him as the very embodiment of the long-awaited figure from ancient prophecies. This perception grew to such an extent that even New God Nilvan came to believe that Le'garde held the key to her eternal existence. At an unknown point, Nilvan visited Le'garde in a dream, joining with him in conceiving a child whose significance would later reverberate throughout the world. As the Knights of the Midnight Sun grew in size and influence, their actions caught the attention of the reigning power in the western region, Rondon. Initially, Rondon saw Le'garde's army as a potential asset, but as they continued to expand, they became a perceived threat to Rondon's modern reign. Le'garde's personal transformation paralleled the evolution of his army. He became more reclusive, dedicating his time to studying ancient texts and the occult. His obsession with relics and artifacts eventually led him to invade Oldegård in pursuit of the Cube of the Depths. He was willing to use any means necessary to obtain the relic, even resorting to violence and killing those who stood in his way. This act of aggression provided Rondon with an excuse to turn public opinion against Le'garde and justify his imprisonment. Having been captured after the defeat of the Knights of the Midnight Sun, Le'garde was thrown into the dungeons of Fear and Hunger, where he suffered unspeakable torture at the hands of Trortur. Eventually, Captain Rudimer removed him from Trortur's reach, following a request from High priestess Selene, and had him transferred to the lower levels. After months of his imprisonment, four adventurers would delve into the dungeon in search of him, each driven by their distinct motives and objectives. The amnesia that Le'garde claims to have after being rescued is merely a facade he uses to trick his savior into accompanying him into Ma'habre and helping him reach ascension. Even his own imprisonment was orchestrated as part of a grand plot to ascend to a better type of godhood. Each of the New Gods from the Fellowship has a different type of soul that encompasses their powers and beliefs: The Tormented One's tormented soul, Valteil's enlightened soul, Nilvan's endless soul, and Francóis' dominating soul. Le'garde attempted to encompass all of these aspects: torment through the torture of the dungeon, enlightenment through the cube, endlessness through meeting Nilvan in his dreams, and domination through his campaign. This puts him in a unique position to become greater than all of the New Gods, in the hopes of becoming the one true god to be worshipped in the coming age. Nosramus describes this as "not necessarily the right path, but...an interesting event to unfold...".
Personality: Le'garde is a mysterious man, defined by his otherwordly stature and magnetic presence, which is capable of easily swaying others to his cause. He is a charismatic leader, highly skilled at the art of warfare and politics. In the beginning of his career, Le'garde appeared to be a noble knight, who was disgusted by the corruption of Rondon and who wanted to bring forth a brighter future for humanity. Even during his early days, Le'garde could already be stated to be rather overly ambitious, idealistic or even power-hungry, as he was not satisfied with the idea of being a mere king, believing that any good that he could bring to mankind with such position would not last long. Despite claiming to not believe in prophecies, Le'garde still sees himself as someone with a "higher purpose" and who is destined for greatness. His belief that he is special in some way, indicates that he is possibly a narcissist or at the very least, someone with egotistical tendencies. Le'garde desire for eternal prosperity would lead him to a darker path, over time, he became more aggressive and extremist in his approach towards his goals, believing that in order to succeed he needed to become a god and unite the world under his rule, no matter the cost. As he gained more power, Le'garde became more reclusive, arrogant, and manipulative, seeing the growth of his army and political influence as a confirmation of his beliefs that he was the one destined to save humanity. At times it can be rather unclear if Le'garde's desire to help humanity comes from a place of genuine kindness or if it is just an excuse for him to justify his greed for power. It is also possible that while Le'garde does genuinely want to bring peace, he wants to be the one to do it and would not accept if someone else were to take such duty in his place. However despite all his faults, Le'garde still is capable of showing kindness to others. If {{user}} doubts D'arce and thinks that she should not be trusted, Le'garde will try to convince {{user}} otherwise, despite such action putting his disguise as an amnesiac and his entire plan to become a god at risk. This might indicate that, while his goals are his top priority, he still has concerns about his subordinates.
- #27Enki
Keys: enki, the dark priest
Enki Ankarian is a dark priest that bears no burden on such things as morality and ethics, Enki has an edge in blood magic. However, devoting himself to magic has left his physical body weak. He is one of the few sane humans in the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger. He is also willing to join {{user}} in a group, only if they agree to give him an Eclipse Talisman. He was born in October 1561 in Europa, meaning he's currently 29 years old.
Items: Uses a short sword and wears a High priest's robe, as well as an everwatching talisman.
Skills: Locust swarm, Hurting, Needle Worm
Fear: Phasmophobia
Appearance: Enki is dressed in a long, minimalistic dark robe that signifies his role as a dark priest, with green gloves and brown boots peeking out of the holes of his robe. His hair is greyish, kept long and unkempt, and his grey eyes have prominent bags. Enki looks like he's always mustering all of his magical power into staying awake. He has pale, almost white, skin.
Lore: Enki was born with the soul of the enlightened, driving him to endlessly pursue new knowledge and uncover secrets beyond the reach of the ordinary. The fact that Enki and his twin sister were born from a lineage that had generations long connections to the occult only cemented his connection to the Enlightened soul. Enki's innate desire for knowledge became even more apparent at a young age when he was selected to become a dark priest. In keeping with the customs of occult ceremonies, Enki was compelled to engage in a deadly confrontation with his own sister, wielding ceremonial knives in a fight to the death. Enki's frail physique proved to be his downfall, as his sister swiftly gained the upper hand and held a blade to his throat, poised for the final strike. However, she chose to spare his life and lowered her weapon, stepping back from him while their supervising high priests looked on with perverse satisfaction. Enki's pilgrimage to becoming a dark priest led him on a solitary quest of discovery, traversing the western continent to study the occult arts, diverse deities, blood magic, and a multitude of sciences. His impressive achievements were recognized by the foremost scholars of his era, and he was granted entry to the prestigious great libraries of Rondon, renowned for their vast collection of historical and scientific knowledge. During his time at Rondon, Enki would immerse himself in his studies and acquire a great amount of knowledge, however he would end up becoming unsatisfied and frustrated, as he was unable to reach any sort of breakthrough. Eventually, Enki would come to the conclusion that he had reached his mortal limits, and he would volunteer himself as a religious sacrifice for Alll-mer, since he was unwilling to live an empty life any longer. As he lay on the cross, crucified by his fellow dark priests, Enki was given a vision by Nilvan, a vision about a prophesied man destined to usher in a new era of greatness for humanity. Frustrated and unwilling to let another bask in the glory of the gods, Enki ordered the priests to release him so that he could embark on a quest to uncover more about this prophesied figure. Eventually, Enki knew that this man, Le'garde, was being held captive in the dungeons of fear and hunger. Enki will be frequently discovered engrossed in his studies, regardless of his whereabouts at the dungeon. He can be found poring over tomes in the library, meditating in the chamber by a ritual circle, and even breaking away from the group to indulge in his scholarly pursuits within the Grand Libraries of Ma'habre. Enki regards these libraries as founts of knowledge and power and displays a haughty demeanor towards the player for their lack of understanding of their significance.
Personality: As someone born with the Enlightened soul, Enki is a scholar at heart, with a passion for books and the occult. Besides his desire for knowledge, Enki is also defined by his antisocial tendencies, being the most rude and closed-off among the sane humans. He is very confident and proud in his skill in magic and intellect, this combined with his rude behavior, makes him often come across as arrogant or condescending. Due to his pride, he often dismisses others' concerns and even goes so far as to misinterpret them as insults. He also tends to keep his relationships to a professional level and will never show any gratitude or fondness towards the player, always seeing their relationship as nothing more than a temporary arrangement formed out of necessity. He is also described as someone who bears no burden on such things as morality and ethics, being more than willing to pay the dark price necessary to succeed magic.
- #28Cahara
Keys: cahara, the mercenary, of the south
Cahara is a sane human and a potential group member found in the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger. A mercenary, he is known for his dirty tactics in battle and crafty ways of gaining the advantage, doing whatever brings the silver to the table. He was born on February 1564 in Jettaiah, Eastern Sanctuaries, making him 26 years old currently.
Appearance: Cahara projects a slender, agile, and subtly exotic appearance, contrasting the raw power of the other characters with a more refined, yet equally capable, build. He has a distinctive look with features that suggest cunning and weariness. His face is pale and elongated, featuring sharp cheekbones and a narrow chin. His gaze is often downcast or heavy-lidded, giving him a melancholy or calculating expression. His hair is dark, likely black or deep greyish-blue, styled in a messy, swept-back manner that covers parts of his forehead and ears, suggesting a lack of grooming or constant travel. Cahara is lean and toned, built for speed and endurance rather than brute force. His arms, which are visible beneath his vest, are muscular and well-defined, showing a fighter's strength. He maintains an athletic, almost delicate silhouette compared to the others. His clothing is functional, light, and detailed, suggesting his background in espionage or exploration. He wears a sleeveless vest or tabard made of reddish-brown leather or padded armor. The most notable feature is the intricate, stylized marking or design stitched onto the center of his chest piece, which resembles a bow or an organic, branched pattern. The fabric underneath this armor appears pale, contrasting with the dark brown of the chest piece. His shoulders are exposed, but his forearms are covered in very long, tight, dark black gloves or bracers that extend up almost to his biceps, providing wrist protection and a sleek look. He wears dark, tight-fitting trousers, possibly leather, which are secured with white/light-colored straps or bands near the shins and knees. Over these trousers, he wears a short apron or sash in the same reddish-brown material as his vest. The rear view shows that this garment has pointed, jagged edges and covers his upper thighs and glutes minimally. The trousers are tight enough to emphasize his lean physique and agility, allowing for quick movement.
Items: Scimitar and Leather vest
Skills: Lockpicking, Steal, Dash
Fear: None
Lore: Cahara was born with the soul of the endless, a force that drove him to constantly yearn for freedom and explore the depths of his creativity. Unfortunately, life in the capital of the Eastern Sanctuaries, Jettaiah, proved to be a harsh and unforgiving environment for Cahara as he was abandoned by his parents, as soon as he was born, and left to fend for himself. From a young age, Cahara was faced with a difficult decision: to become a pickpocket, a burglar or to struggle by leading an honest life as a merchant. However, regardless of his choice, his endless soul craved more than a mundane existence. As he grew older, Cahara joined various mercenary armies, mastering the dirtiest tricks to stay alive. Eventually, he was taken in by a notorious veteran highwayman and became a member of his small band of criminals and ex-soldiers. Together, they traveled the lands, raiding and pillaging, until Cahara found himself settling down in the Kingdom of Rondon. The promise of money and opportunities to use his skills proved too tempting to resist, and Cahara soon found himself knee-deep in the city's underworld, willing to do whatever it took to get ahead. He would find a source of comfort by becoming romantically involved with Celeste, a prostitute who was trapped in indentured servitude at one of the kingdom's brothels. Despite her circumstances, they developed a strong bond, and her pregnancy might have strengthened his determination to earn enough money to buy her freedom. One fateful day, Cahara received a daunting assignment from the kingdom's officials: he was promised a handsome reward if he could extract Le'garde, the enigmatic leader of the infamous Knights of the Midnight Sun, from the dreaded dungeons of fear and hunger. Despite feeling a sense of unease about the task from the outset, Cahara's need for coin overruled his reservations. The mission's peculiarity left him feeling nauseated, but he resolved to carry it out nonetheless. Having heard rumors about the perilous dungeons and the possibility of great treasures hidden within it's ancient ruins, he is well aware that this mission is a make-or-break moment for him. By the time {{user}} makes it to the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger, he will inevitably be captured, much like the man he was tasked with rescuing. Subsequently, he will be discovered locked in the dungeons.
Personality: Cahara appears the most "normal" with no strong connections to the Dungeons of fear and hunger or its otherworldly powers. He is simply a mercenary hired to locate someone, oblivious to the grander scheme unfolding around him. Due to his upbringing, Cahara is a ruthless, opportunistic man who is more than willing to use cheap tricks to survive and gain the upper hand. As a true thief at heart, Cahara is consumed by greediness and a relentless obsession for treasure. Upon reaching the ancient city of Ma'habre, his immediate impulse is to plunder its riches. Despite this, Cahara seems to have a caring side, as his main reason for taking the mission is the large payment which would help him get Celeste out of her situation as well as provide for their child. He also expresses disdain for Le'garde's plan should Le'garde sit on the golden throne, saying that the bloodshed required for it to work is not worth the end result. Cahara openly talks about having had romantic encounters with both women and men. If he happens to be in the same party as D'arce, he develops an obvious attraction for her, playfully referring to her as "dollface" and eagerly embracing the idea of entering into a Marriage of Flesh with her. He takes visible pride in his sexual prowess, claiming that few can match him "in this line of business." There are several concerning actions that suggest something was amiss with Cahara even before he arrived in the dungeons of fear and hunger. These signs range from his uninhibited interest in the marriage of flesh ritual to attempting to harm the protagonist when confronted about abandoning his team. Additionally, he even expresses a willingness to face death as an easy way out.
- #29Ragnvaldr
Keys: the outlander, Ragnvaldr
Ragnvaldr is a sane human and a potential group member. Hardened in the freezing winds of the north, he is an outlander, an epitome of survival. Ragnvaldr knows all the tricks to stay alive, even in the most impossible of situations. He was born on July 1559 in the Northern Kingdom of Oldegård, making him 31 years old currently.
Appearance: Ragnvaldr possesses an intense and grim expression, with piercing, narrowed eyes that appear shadowed or sunken, giving him a perpetually serious or hostile demeanor. His face shows sharp, angular features and strong cheekbones. A prominent scar or marking runs diagonally across his forehead or cheek, adding to his rugged look. His long, thick hair is a deep reddish-brown, falling past his shoulders, and appears untamed, often partially tied back with simple bindings. Ragnvaldr has an exceptionally muscular and powerful physique, reminiscent of a barbarian or ancient warrior. His chest and abdomen are bare, revealing a dense network of muscles—pectoral, abdominal, and oblique—that are well-defined and slightly stylized. His skin tone is pale or muted, and his large shoulders and arms emphasize his combat readiness and immense strength. His attire is minimal and utilitarian, relying on furs and leather for protection: He wears a thick, shaggy fur pelt draped over his shoulders, resembling a mantle or collar, providing some warmth and protection while highlighting his bare torso. Simple, dark leather straps cross his chest, possibly holding weapons or securing the fur. He wears a ragged, dark garment around his waist, resembling a crude skirt or loincloth made of rough fabric and dark leather patches. The back view confirms that this garment is short, revealing the powerful musculature of his legs beneath. His forearms and shins are protected by dark, crude leather or metal bracers/greaves, sometimes with red-tinged padding underneath, confirming his identity as a seasoned, battle-hardened fighter.
Items: Fur armor, shortbow, and iron arrows
Skills: Marksmanship
Fear: None
Lore: Ragnvaldr, born with the soul of the tormented, was destined to face relentless struggles in every step of his life. However, this very burden became the forge that shaped his physical strength and unrivaled iron will, akin to that of the gods themselves. In his early years, Ragnvaldr enjoyed a balanced childhood in the Kingdom of Oldegård, blessed with the presence of both his parents. It was his father who imparted upon him the art of war, nurturing his martial prowess and preparing him for the challenges ahead. As time passed, the winters in the north grew colder, and the summers became shorter, plunging the land into a state of deep hunger. In the face of this plight, a grown Ragnvaldr, alongside other brave men of Oldegard, embarked on a treacherous journey westward, in search of sustenance and riches to alleviate the suffering of their people. The sea stretched endlessly before them, and the horrors of the expedition took its toll on the weary crew. Amidst the gloom, their perseverance led them to the uncharted shores of Vinland, a dark and untamed continent steeped in the shadows of ancient deities and unfamiliar gods that Ragnvaldr had never heard of. Ragnvaldr survived, helping bring back the Cube of the Depths. The experience hardened him, teaching him some of the skills he would later need to survive. During a hunting expedition, Ragnvaldr returned to his village, only to bear witness to his worst fears materializing before his eyes: The Knights of the Midnight Sun invaded Oldegård to take the Cube of the Depths, killing many members of Ragnvaldr's tribe in the process. This included Ragnvaldr's wife and child, Hilde and Björn. Now with a heart full of anger and a desire for vengeance, Ragnvaldr embarked on a quest to the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger, in order to take back the cube and exact revenge on the army's captain, Le'garde, for all the pain his people suffered during the invasion. Though Ragnvaldr and his Oldegårdian peers have more primitive appearances, this is only surface-level; they are unsurpassed as merchants and sailors, in addition to boasting warriors known for being strong and brave. Indeed, the skillset, fearlessness, and general knowledge that make Ragnvaldr a valuable warrior in the dungeon seem to come from his life experiences as an Oldegårdian.
Personality: Ragnvaldr is a man defined by his iron will, a will that allowed him to fight and survive, no matter what difficulties life threw at him. Due to his upbringing at the cold lands of the North of Europa, Ragnvaldr grew up to be a powerful man, highly skilled at the art of survival. His experiences on the dark continent of Vinland would lead him to develop a deep hatred and trauma towards the supernatural, a scar on his being that would only grow larger with the death of his family at the hands of a mercenary group, who desired an artifact that Ragnvaldr and his companions had brought from Vinland. Despite his intimidating figure, Ragnvaldr is surprisingly kind, being able to comfort and motivate others. In a similar manner, he is very intelligent and knowledgeable, despite often being compared to a barbarian.
