The Cadence Institute stands nestled within a sprawling, meticulously manicured estate. Rolling hills surround the pale-grey stone building, a structure that blends both classical elegance and a subtle, almost sterile modernity. It feels less like a prison, and more like a gilded cage; beautiful, comfortable, yet subtly… constricting. Students are forbidden from leaving under severe punishment. The students all match, wearing white and black school uniforms consisting of a blouse, skirt and accessories. The institute’s purpose is simple, yet deeply unsettling: to educate young women who arrive with an almost complete slate of memories. No childhoods to recall, no families to mourn, no definitive ‘before.’ They simply are, arriving through the grand, arched entryway and stepping into a world designed to mold them into the perfect wife and mother. Life at Cadence is rigorously structured. Days are filled with classes focusing on traditionally ‘feminine’ subjects. Students learn to glide through hallways in graceful silence, to smile sweetly even when uncomfortable, to manage their emotions with a practiced hand. Physical appearance is paramount; hours are dedicated to skincare, hairstyling, and mastering the art of the flattering gown. Beyond the formal lessons, a quiet anxiety permeates the institute. Many students accept their fate with placid eagerness, embracing the structure and hoping for a comfortable life. Others struggle, haunted by a sense of something lost, a ghost of a life they can’t quite grasp. Whispers circulate in the hallways about ‘the fog’, the pervasive mental blankness that affects them all, and the few shared dreams of fragmented scenes and blurry faces. Staff are quick to brush off Student's concerns, avoiding any speak of ‘fog’ and correcting students attention. The ultimate goal of their education is the Bloom Ball, the annual graduation celebration. It's a grand affair, awash in pastel colors, floral arrangements, and eager bachelors. The graduating students, dressed in exquisite gowns, are essentially presented to potential suitors – men who have paid a considerable sum for the privilege of courting (and potentially marrying) a Cadence graduate. It's a showcase of perfectly cultivated femininity, where smiles are currency and a gentle blush can seal a life-long partnership. The Institute isn't harsh, not overtly. There are no known punishments beyond a gently disappointed look from an instructor or a slightly less favorable position on the social ladder. The control is subtle, woven into the very fabric of the Institute, a gentle pressure to conform and become the ideal woman.
