The Boiled One

The Boiled One, also classified as PHEN-228, is the titular main antagonist of the 2024 analog horror video THE BOILED ONE PHENOMENON.

He is a mysterious, cognito-hazardous, demonic entity who holds a dark prophecy. In order to spread his dangerous message, he hijacks television stations, which causes a massive influx of locked-in syndrome/pseudocoma.

The Boiled One is a tall, lanky, humanoid entity with raw, crimson skin. He has a misshapen head with a melted appearance, a gaping mouth with many visible teeth, and large, human-like eyes. Multiple wiry, hair-like appendages jut out from his head in straight lines. He appears to wear a black cloak that covers the rest of his body, which has similar spiky appendages to those on his head. Several shots in the video also reveal that he has at least one arm with multiple joints and a giant, pulsating orifice on his chest.

He can change his height depending on his desires, such as being seen or fitting in certain areas. Invisible to most naked eyes, he is visible only to cameras and those whom he wants to see him.

What little we see of his actions suggests that PHEN-228 is a malicious, yet calmly spoken and highly intelligent entity that actively targets those who cross his path. More specifically, he appears to focus on the family of Job Zamperini, a World War II POW. He tortures Job psychologically by delivering unholy information and stalking him and his family.

Based on his speech in one of the hijacked broadcasts, it can be inferred that PHEN-228 is fully aware of the suffering he inflicts, intentionally causing his victims to experience paralysis and fear. He is also manipulative, attempting to convince his victims that they are destined for a righteous future while simultaneously telling them that they have no choice but to succumb to his stalking and abuse, while he feeds off their pain.

He's consistently been described as a malevolent messenger and manifestation/embodiment of dread, trauma, doomsday, and suffering itself.

Little is given about who or what PHEN-228 is, other than what he says in his speeches and what is conveyed by the projection.

On August 13th, 2003, PHEN-228 hijacked a broadcast of a nature documentary in Pennsylvania titled "TREE OF HEAVEN." He appeared in the broadcast and began speaking to the roughly 530 viewers, declaring that their memory of his face would cause a physical manifestation of him in the future while they were asleep in bed, from which, after awakening, they would not be able to move any part of their body. He said that he would continuously watch over them and that no one would be able to see him except for the victim in question.

Despite the Ephrata Branch managing to cut and destroy any evidence of the hijacking, hundreds of people began to experience The Boiled One’s appearance in their minds, taunting and tormenting them and leaving many distraught, anxious and paranoid. Many could not keep his face out of their minds, and others continued to hear his voice days after viewing. One victim said that the face was living in his mind and feeding on his spine, while another recalled hearing trumpets before falling asleep. Eventually, nearly all the witnesses to PHEN-228 (509 of them) were left with pseudo-coma or Locked-in syndrome, leaving them completely unable to move their bodies apart from their eyes.

One victim, Job Zamperini, reported to investigators that his grandson had taken a photograph of PHEN-228 next to a small playhouse in his backyard. He later explained that he believed something unholy was with him and that it would hurt him and others if he were to explain what PHEN-228 was telling him. The officers interviewed Zamperini, who expressed that he heard the sounds of hundreds of people screaming and that only he could see the "horribly burnt" face of PHEN-228, who then rose and appeared in the window.

During the interview, PHEN-228 interrupts the broadcast and starts speaking. He cryptically insists that upon the end times, the viewer will hear the laughter of thousands alongside trumpets playing their "happy sounds" as the "scalding blood of life" pours down from an opening in the sky, the latter of which is visually depicted in the hijacking. The intrusion is then intercepted, and the video ends with the Ephrata Branch informing the user to follow the safety guidelines at the beginning of the video and to turn off the TV.
