"You know what?! HA-HA! FUCK HELL, FUCK HEAVEN, AND FUCK ALL OF YOU. As long as I wipe that smile off Alastor's fucking face... I don't care WHAT happens."―Vox, screaming tearfully as he tries to reactivate the Might of Lilith

Vincent Whittman,[1][2] more commonly known as Vox, is one of the bigger antagonists in Hazbin Hotel,[14] being a major antagonist in season 1, and the main antagonist of season 2.

He is a sinner demon and one of the many powerful Overlords of Hell. Vox is the founder, former owner, and ex-CEO of VoxTek Enterprises, along with being the de facto leader and former public face of the Overlord trio known as the Vees, alongside Valentino and Velvette.

A technology-savvy businessman, Vox once pulled the strings of Hell's news and entertainment media. He was determined to keep his iron grip over Pentagram City's citizens from the Radio Demon, Alastor, his arch-rival in terms of influence and technology.

As revealed in "Weapon of Mass Distraction", before ending up in Hell, Vincent worked as a TV weatherman, but his desire for prominence drove him to killing in order to rise to higher positions, eventually leading to forming a cult around entertainment, where he served as its leader. In Hell, longing for the adoration he once had and feeling like a god in "New Pentious", Vox persuaded Valentino and Velvette to join his scheme to take over both Heaven and Hell.

In "It's A Deal", Vox agreed to a deal with Alastor that allowed him to hold the Radio Demon captive, gaining him enough recognition in Hell to begin a resistance movement and orchestrate a war against Heaven, being appointed as the voice of Hell's people. He had Carmilla Carmine create his angelic laser cannon, the Might of Lilith, in "Scream Rain", but his master plan failed thanks to the Hazbin Hotel gang's interference in "Curtain Call".

After Alastor broke free of his deals with Rosie and Vox, Vox fought Alastor and began mercilessly destroying the Entertainment District with his superweapon in attempt to kill him. When Hell's populace turned against Vox, and with his threatening to obliterate half of Pentagram City, Valentino and Velvette stopped him from continuing. In the aftermath of the devastation he caused during the battle by Vox and his Might of Lilith, he lost all of his support, and Valentino took over as the new CEO of VoxTek.

Appearance

Vox is a tall, technology-themed sinner demon with a humanoid body who stands at approximately 7 feet tall.[15] He sports a flat-screen television for a head, with the monitor projecting eyes with bright red sclera, narrow cyan pupils and different-colored outlines - black for his right and cyan for his left. While he is using his hypnosis powers or feels strong emotion, his left eye opens more than his right eye, contains endlessly growing black concentric circles, and the pupil becomes a shivering cyan-colored electric bolt.

The screen also shows a mouth full of jagged, cyan-colored teeth and a long pointed cyan colored tongue. Sometimes two red columns resembling blood seem to drip out of his mouth, particularly when he's excited. He has dark navy-blue skin with sharp, cyan claw-like fingers, and also has what appears to be three cyan shark-like gills on the sides of his body[16] and cyan rectangular nipples.

Vox wears a navy-blue tuxedo with the jacket sporting coattails, red-trimmed cyan lapels, thin cyan stripes and cyan lining, worn over a red-and-black-striped waistcoat which itself is worn over a collared bluish-white dress shirt with an upside-down broadcast symbol and a rather large, red bowtie. He also wears dark navy blue slacks, heeled dark gray dress shoes with cyan-colored laces, toes, and tips on the heels.

He also wears a small black top hat on his head, with red and blue designs reminiscent of a broadcast symbol and radio wave symbol, respectively. He has TV antenna that stick out the top of his hat, the left one bent into a zigzag.

In "Curtain Call", Valentino forcefully ripped Vox's head off of his body, leaving Vox as simply his hat and head, however, as it's known that sinners can regenerate from all non-angelic weapon-made injuries, it is likely that Vox will regain his body again.

Past

Vox used to have an older-styled black box TV for his head, and his left antenna was not bent. He wore a black jacket over a long-sleeve yellow ribbed turtleneck shirt, along with dark colored pants. He also wore a black top hat that lacked any symbols.

"I own you, or have you forgotten that?"―Valentino, reminding Angel Dust about his contract

Valentino is a sinner demon and one of the many Overlords of Hell. He is a major antagonist of Hazbin Hotel season 1, and one of the main antagonists of season 2, alongside Vox and Velvette.

He is the director and head of the porn studio within V Tower, and a member of the Vees. He is also the owner and boss of his films' star, Angel Dust, whom he has under soul contractual obligation.

Appearance

Valentino is a tall, slender, somewhat muscular and broad-shouldered moth demon with lavender skin and lacking pupils and irises in his cerise-pink eyes, over which he is always depicted wearing gold-rimmed, heart-shaped sunglasses with cerise lenses.

His mouth is full of sharp, cerise teeth with a single golden fang that sits to his far left of center, a feature he shares with some of his employees like Angel Dust. He also has a long cerise tongue.

Valentino's stature is tall, estimated to be around 10 feet,[note 3] which he emphasizes with long black heeled boots. He has fluffy white neck fur with small red love-hearts that plumes up from his coat's break-line. He is bald[note 4][8] with moth-like antennae; the right appearing like a large white with black heart-striped feather while the left appears smaller and lacking the white areas.

He has an extra set of arms just above his hips. All four of his hands and forearms are black with a stripe,[9] mimicking black gloves, while the upper halves are his normal skin color.

He has a pair of large red moth wings that features zebra print fur outlining the edges, while the interior is darker colored with several heart designs. These wings are usually wrapped around his body to form a floor-length coat with white fur at the wrists, as well as black-and-white-striped fur trim down the center-front to the bottom hem, and three white stripes on both hips with a heart shaped design on the back. This coat is pinned with a gold chain and gold love-heart shaped broach fastening at the breast.

He also has heart-shaped nipples colored in a darker shade of his skin tone, with gold piercings and a chain hung from them.

Valentino wears a red top hat with a wide, asymmetrical zebra-printed hat-band, in which his antennae poke out like feathers. Under his coat, he wears a chest-exposing dark grey shirt with rolled-up sleeves that are held together by two gold buttons, alongside white dress pants held by a black belt with a golden love-heart shaped buckle, and a pair of high-heeled black boots.

He wears a gold chain necklace hung down to his chest, gold arm bands on his lower wrists, each hand having one gold ring, and sometimes gold nail guards on his fingers.

According to Faustisse, Valentino wears fishnet stockings under his coat.[note 5] This is first seen in "Welcome to Heaven". In "The Show Must Go On", Valentino wears fishnet stockings, a black miniskirt, and black knee-high heeled boots.

Past

Valentino used to have both his antennae look identical, both like large white with black heart-striped feathers. He didn't have his sunglasses and gold fang, and his coat didn't have fur on the wrists and the outline wasn't fluffy. He wore a red fedora with a zebra print band, and white pants with a pink belt that had a gold heart-shaped buckle.

Pilot

In the pilot, Valentino's appearance was nearly the same, but with the exception of his right antennae being simply black-and-white striped and left antennae appearing more like a thorned-branch. His neck fur also had more red heart designs that are smaller, some of which being in two and some having a white area from the bottom of the heart.

His wing-coat lacked the white stripes in the back, as well as the brooch in the middle, while the black-and-white-striped fur trim down the center-front to the bottom hem had more stripes. His boots also appeared to have smaller heels.

Personality

Valentino has been described as being charming[note 6] and roughly as level-headed as his fellow Overlord, Vox.[note 7] When he interacts with Charlie in his studio he acts cordial around her while struggling to hide his anger and irritation that he would prefer to take out on one of his employees instead, such as Angel Dust.

He does, eventually, show off his real behavior after some time. Valentino uses his charming persona in order to lure other demons into working for him, as shown in "Welcome to Heaven" where Valentino admitted spending much of his time in nightclubs, picking up demons and offering them "jobs" at his studios, with him hiding his more violent and psychotic behavior in order to convince them to willingly "work" for him.

Valentino is depicted as being controlling, abusive, and narcissistic, specifically towards one of his star employees, Angel Dust.[10][11] He also displays sadistic tendencies, appearing to take enjoyment in overriding Angel's consent, and remains seemingly unbothered by the trauma he is inflicting.

Valentino is frequently surrounded by a collection of the girls who work for him. He is ostentatious in displaying both his profession and status. Faustisse bluntly described him as "a huge fuckboi".[note 8] Despite this, he is apparently in a romantic relationship with Vox.

Valentino has been described by Angel to be a "psychopathic freak".[12] He has a reputation of throwing massive tantrums when one of his "whore" employees disobey him. Because of his temperamental side, he throws objects and rips other demons apart when he is angry, and he doesn't think about how his actions affect his and the Vees' image to where Vox had to explain that "chasing whores around town" will "fuck up" their "image". Once he calms down, he is more pragmatic and fully aware of possible negatives to acting too rashly.

On the other hand, even he has his limits. He was visibly shocked when Vox uncharacteristically snapped at him for wanting to murder everyone at the Hotel. Valentino is shown to be embarrassed by and dislike Vox's sterotyping of Spanish people, as shown when Vox dressed in a stereotypical mariachi outfit in his offer to Carmilla in "Silenced" and angrily throwing his drink at Vox after saying he can't understand Valentino's "island language" in "Scream Rain".

Abilities

Immortality - As a Sinner, Valentino is biologically immortal, being unable to die from illnesses and unable to age, remaining the same age as when he died, thus can not die of old age and other natural causes. He also cannot die from any kind of damage to the body, and will recover from any injury, however, he can only be permanently killed with angelic weaponry.Strength - Valentino's strength appears to be greater than the average demon, being able to slam a door so hard a cupboard got knocked down "Masquerade", and was able to tear demons into pieces with his bare hands in "Radio Killed the Video Star", when Velvette recounts how he "tore up her best model", despite presumably not having any weapons on him. In "It's A Deal" he was showcased to be able to kick Alastor in the chest which wounded him. One display of his strength is when he ruthlessly physically abuses Angel Dust by choking him and slamming him around with a single hand.Enhanced speed - Valentino was shown to have a degree of speed and Agility as seen in "It's a Deal" where he runs and evades Alastor's tentacles to come and Attack him.Putting out a fireWings - Valentino has a pair of moth wings shown to be able to produce powerful gusts of wind that can easily put out a large fire with one flap.Wing alteration - These wings can cover his body to form his coat, or can be hung down like a cape. He can also alter the design of the coat his wings can take, including his neack fur, and after taking over VoxTek in "Curtain Call" has seeminly changed the color of his wings to purple.Flight - Valentino is capable of flight with his wings. This is first seen in "It's A Deal" when he comes down from V Tower to where Vox is on the street, and in "Curtain Call" when he attempted to fly from the blast of the Might of Lilith but couldn't due to his right wing being damaged by Husk's explosive dice.Ocular, dental, and saliva illumination - Valentino's eyes give off a faint red glow, particularly if he's in a dark room, and his teeth can glow when he's giving a sinister smile. His red saliva also glows, mainly when he's acting perverted.Multitasking - Valentino can multitask with his extra set of arms, such as holding his drink while he's decorating one of his guns.Valentino's red smokeTyphokinesis - In the ADDICT music video, Valentino exhales a red, heart-shaped smoke from his cigarettes that could twist and form different shapes, entering the bodies of other demons, as Valentino directs it. However, a similar smoke is also present in a cigarette Angel smokes, indicating that this is both from a specific cigarette he owns and also a natural ability of Valentino, since, in "Masquerade", he smokes a cigarette Angel was smoking and the color of the smoke changes when he blows it into Angel's face. As shown in "It's A Deal" and "Masquerade", Valentino can produce a large amount of smoke from flapping his wings.Smoke constructs - Valentino can manipulate his red smoke into specific shapes that are physically solid, as shown in "Masquerade" where he formed a chain and manacles to bind Angel Dust and show his dominance over him.Energy generation - As shown in "Curtain Call", Valentino is able to produce and manipulate a smoke like energy, which he used to assist in creating a barrier around Vox's overloading angelic laser canon the Might of Lilith.SkillsetWeapon proficiency - As shown in the prequel comic, Valentino is easily able to shoot a moving target with accuracy from a notable distance away.Charisma - Valentino possesses a flamboyant and vivacious charm that allows him to persuade others of his authority.[note 6]Bilingualism - Valentino can fluently speak Spanish and English.Valentino's contract with Angel DustContracts - Like all Overlords, Valentino amassed his power and influence by "owning" souls. The method he uses to accomplish this is by having his victims sign their souls away to his ownership through the contracts he conjures, as shown in his ownership of Angel Dust, where the latter had willingly signed his real name in his contract to "work" for Valentino. However, in some cases, there are loopholes that makes them untouchable under certain circumstances, such as Angel being free from him and his influence outside his studio, which Valentino apparently can't remove. It is possible for Valentino to willingly render the contract null and void and release Angel from his control if he chooses to do so.Artistic talent - Valentino is a talented artist.[13][14] This is showcased in his drawing of Vox in "New Pentious" and the "How to draw with Valentino" drawing tutorial for the official website. There is also a portrait of Vox seen in Vox's office with Valentino's signature, suggesting he painted the artwork.Singing and dancing - Valentino has shown to be a good singer and exceptional dancer, being able to performing a duet and dance with Vox.Weaponry

"♪ You've got it twisted. I'm not the one who needs a new attitude. Maybe you missed it, but I'm that #Bitch and I will do nothing less than what I please. Woo! I'm the backbone of the Vees. Mad that I acted respectless? Well, it's 'cause no one could respect this. ♪"―Velvette, to Carmilla Carmine

Velvette[6] (pronounced Velvet) is one of the many Overlords in Hell. She is a major antagonist of Hazbin Hotel season 1, and one of the main antagonists of season 2, alongside Vox and Valentino.

She is a close associate of Vox and Valentino and is the self-proclaimed "backbone of the Vees". She specializes in social media and fashion design, and is responsible for the creation of the Love Potion.

Appearance

Velvette is a petite humanoid demon with cedar-brown skin, and long curly hair kept into large pigtails with bangs by black hair ties. Her hair is colored in a desire-red that features the insides colored in a faded dark navy-blue, and white swirled-streaks on her pigtails and one on her bangs.

Her eyes have white irises, bright red sclera and slit pupils, and her makeup consists of burgundy eyeshadow on her eyelids, and black lipstick on her lips with a strip across the center of her mouth, which has fangs inside. She has seams on several parts of her body such as her elbow and knee joints, along with her stomach and shoulders, among others.[7][8]

Velvette's clothing is that of a set of white skull earrings, and a sleeveless dark navy-blue coat with burgundy lining and two desire hearts on the left side of the fur collar (similar to the ones on Valentino's). Her coat is usually worn over a sleeveless, black turtleneck crop top that includes two desire hearts on the chest. Her loose pants are colored in navy-blue and desire-red in a striped pattern, held by a dark navy belt with a white heart-shaped buckle.

For footwear, she wore black low-heeled flats with white pom-poms on top. Velvette accessorized with black-striped fingerless opera gloves with alternating colors - white for her right glove and desire for her left.

Velvette changes hairstyles and outfits frequently, even within the same episode, as showcased in "Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors".

Pilot

In the pilot, Velvette sported a much more doll-like appearance with desire-red and burgundy hair with a white streak on her bangs - her pigtails are noticeably messier in appearance, and it has been held by black and white frilled hair ties. She appears to have white eyeliner on the lower part of her eyes and a white strip across her eyes.

In addition to her clothing, she sports a pimped-out, tea-length dress that is colored in white, black and desire. Her dress features short, black puffed sleeves, along with black triangle and desire heart patterns located at the bottom.

Her fingerless gloves appear to be longer, and they are instead desire and white-striped. She also wore black tights and desire flats with white pom-poms on top.

Personality

Velvette is the energetic, stylish and trendy type who is always up-to-date with the latest trends and technology. This is one of the main reasons why she and Vox get along quite well with each other.[9] Faustisse has also described her as being a very crazy person.[note 1]

She is critical and judgemental when it comes to fashion. Velvette is also observant, such as when she notices Carmilla's expression after she pulled out the severed Exorcist's head, and suspected her to be responsible, in which confirmed her suspicions later.

Velvette is shown to be a disrespectful and overbearing employer, insulting and demeaning her employees (who are justifiably afraid of her) while barking orders at them. When her "best model" was dismembered by Valentino, Velvette showed apathy towards her, instead annoyed how she has to find a last-minute replacement because she can't wait for the model to pull herself back together.

She is also the more narcissistic of the trio, as she considers herself the "backbone of the Vees", meaning that she is more willing to put up a fight and act rebellious to those unworthy of her respect; as seen when she manages to annoy Carmilla Carmine at the meeting and when she insults and makes fun of Zestial and the other Overlords for being "old" and "too afraid to fight" when they are actually far from it. In addition, after presenting a severed Exorcists head at the meeting, she openly proposes going to war without acknowledging the lack of intelligence about how the Exorcist was killed, only being interested in going to war in order to make a "power grab".

As shown in "It's a Deal", Velvette cares a lot about her appearance, especially her hair, and she is quick to anger and doesn't hesitate to attack anyone who ruins it, such as when she attacks Husk for unintentionally ruining her hair.

Abilities

Clothing manipulationClothing manipulation - Velvette is able to instantly produce and change the clothing of others in various styles and types by swiping her fingers like she swipes on a phone screen. Her hand is seen glowing with sparkles as she performs this. She also can change others' clothes with her phone.Hair manipulation - Velvette is able to instantly create a new hairdo on her head to replace one that has been lost. This is seen in "Curtain Call", where after being defeated by Niffty and having lost all her hair, she was able to reproduce her prior hairstyle exactly.Doll physiology - Velvette has been shown to have a doll-like physiology with articulated joints. This is showcased fully in "Curtain Call", where after falling to the ground from V Tower, the impact of hitting the ground splits her body into multiple doll parts.Detached limb control - As shown in "Curtain Call" after her body is split into parts, she is able to control her individual limbs in order to put herself back together.Head rotation - During her opening line for Respectless, Velvette, while spinning, was seemingly able to instantly rotate her head a further 360 degrees without any discomfort or need to unwind it back. When she was sitting upside down on a chair in "Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors", she was seen turning her head all the way around, as well as in "Scream Rain" to glare at Vox after Carmilla's meeting. It is unknown if she can apply this to other parts of her body.Ologramakinesis - Velvette can manifest and manipulate holographic projections, such as projections of comments and pictures, as seen during Respectless and Hazbin Guarantee (Trust Us). As shown in and "Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors" and "It's A Deal", and "Curtain Call", Velvette can manifest a variety of holographic projections, typically using her phone, which can display real time updates from social media and other websites and applications.Bow and Arrow creationHolographic constructs - Velvette has shown the ability to weaponize her holographic projections, creating constructs to attack her opponents. As shown, Velvette typically manifests comments and emoji's from her phone or her imagination as holographic projections that she can hit others with, or can shape them into weapons, such as bows and arrows and ropes.Witchcraft - Velvet has shown to be proficient in witchcraft, capable of channelling her magic through ritual circles or energy from her hands. She utilizes these magic circles to attach her holographic constructs together to form weapons.Telekinesis - As shown when she was brewing potions, Velvette could telekinetically manipulate objects as she pleases with the things she's controlling being surrounded by a pink aura. She is shown to suspend several ingredient bottles in the air and pours their contents into her caldron to brew potions with her mind.Magical constructs - Velvette has showcased the ability to conjure purple magical constructs without the need of her phone. This is shown during her fight against Husk in "It's A Deal", where she conjured multiple kitchen knives to launch at Husk and create floating devil head emoticons to bind and stab others.Fragokinesis - Velvette is also able to create purple explosions at will, as seen in her fight with Husk in "It's A Deal".Broom manipulation - In "Curtain Call" when she was battling against Niffty, Velvette is shown to wield a broomstick that she can fly on and use in combat.Energy generation - As shown in "Curtain Call", Velvette is able to produce and manipulate a digital-like purple energy, which she used to assist in creating a barrier around Vox's overloading angelic laser cannon.SkillsetWide intellect - She correctly deduced that Carmilla was responsible for demonkind's first known killing of an Exorcist based off her body language, anger, and silence during the Overlords' meeting.Deal-making - Although it hasn't been performed onscreen, like all Overlords, Velvette can make deals with other demons, whether having mundane conditions such as simple favors to owning another's soul.Velvette making potionsPotion-making - Velvette is stated to be skilled in preparing potions,[9] which is first showcased in "Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors". An example of her potions would be the Love Potion shown advertised on posters and billboards throughout the series.Cooking - Velvette is said to be good with food.[9]Musical talent - She is capable of singing and even rapping.Technological skill - As someone who uses her phone and social media all the time, she has vast skill in technology.Media marketing skills - As shown in "Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors", Velvette is an extremely skilled media manipulator and content creator. This is showcased when Velvette was able to put together several news articles, social media posts, videos, and reels using the content she and Vox managed to collect during their time at the Hazbin Hotel, and managed to spin it together to put the Hotel and Charlie in a bad light.Marksmanship - She is shown to be a skilled archer during the battle between The Vees and Alastor in "It's A Deal".Broom combat - Velvette is shown to be proficient in using her broomstick in combat, as seen when she is fighting against Niffty in "Curtain Call".

Trivia

Prior to October 2022, she went by the name "Velvet" as disclosed by the series' staff, merchandise, and social media accounts. On October 31, 2022, a teaser from the Hazbin Hotel Twitter account confirmed her name would be "Velvette" for the main series.[6]The name "velvet" means "a closely woven fabric of silk, cotton, or nylon, that has a thick short pile on one side". Its Latin root word, villus, means "shaggy cloth" or "tuft of hair".Her name could also refer to the color red velvet, like the color of her hair and a prominent color of her many outfits. The color velvet often represents power and wealth, representing her status as an Overlord. The "ette" is used as a suffix to make words feminine, representing her status as the only female member of the Vees.According to the "Clocktower Countdown to Premiere" livestream, Velvette is the youngest Overlord in Hell.[10] It is unclear whether this refers to the youngest by age or by length of tenure.Velvette's nickname of "Babydoll" by Valentino was first revealed in the non-canon Voxtagram posts.Velvette's phone case design was made by Sam Miller and is designed so the "<3" is both a heart chatspeak and stands for "3 Vees"[11] while the patterns at the bottom corners are @ symbols mimicking the shape language of her pigtails.[12]According to Vivziepop, Velvette is the glue between these two very egotistical and chaotic villains, Vox and Val.[13]As Velvette is seen with a different look in every appearance, the only time Velvette is seen with her main outfit and hairstyle is in "Scrambled Eggs".In "Radio Killed the Video Star", the outfit Velvette is wearing in her phone contact icon references her appearance in the pilot.Velvette has a British accent. An official merchandise keychain for Halloween revealed that Velvette has seams at various points of her body similar to the articulated joints of a doll, implying that Velvette's body may be similar to a mannequin's.[7]Vivziepop explained on Bluesky that of the Vees, Velvette is the "less bad" but very much a villain.[14]Lilli Cooper's voice for Velvette is influenced by Tyra Banks from America's Next Top Model in the episode where she says "We were rooting for you. We were all rooting for you".[15]In the introduction video of the Vees for season 2, Velvette is introduced as the "Social Media Overlord".[3]

V Tower is the residence and workplace of the Vees; Vox, Valentino, and Velvette, as well as the workplace of Angel Dust. It made its debut in the Hazbin Hotel episode "Overture".

Description

Exterior

V Tower is a tall tower with pink-tinted windows surrounding each layer. On the top lies a satellite dish, which is how Vox broadcasts his media.

It is decorated with red glowing LED lights, which also surround the top layer. The symbol of the building resemble 3 Vs, referencing the group that inhabit the tower. The middle and bigger one represents Vox, the left represents Valentino, and the right represents Velvette.

In the middle of the main V, there is a sign in the shape of lips. The rest of the layers have LED rings surrounding the roof, the color going from cyan, red, and magenta from top to bottom.

In "Curtain Call", the LED rings were changed to fully blue, and the windows were replaced after being destroyed in "Silenced" with red-tinted windows.

Interior

Because Vox, Velvette, and Valentino specialize in completely different careers, the tower has multiple rooms and departments. The main lobby is the first floor of the tower while the hallways have various advertisements of the Vees. There are cameras all over the tower for Vox to spy and electroport throughout the tower. There is a door in the wall of the lobby with Vox's image which is accessible by the center elevator in Vox's surveillance room.

Lobby

Conference room

The conference room is a dark blue room with walls that double as a shark tank with cybernetic sharks swimming in it. There is a long table with several black office chair on both sides, and a bigger dark blue chair at the end for Vox to sit. There are also demonic plants potted in the corners of the room.

Vox's surveillance room

Vox’s surveillance room is a glowing red pit with cybernetic sharks swimming in the pit walls. There is a bridge to the circular center area where Vox's seat and numerous monitors and screens are located that he uses to spy on everyone. In the middle of the circular area is an elevator that brings Vox up to the lobby. The surveillance room is located under V Tower, as shown during the musical number Brighter.

Vox's office

Vox's office is a blue room with dark navy blue flooring, and circuitry designs across the walls of the room. On the opposite side from the entrance is Vox's desk with three chairs, and an aquarium behind it where Shok.wav swims in. Vox also has his past TV heads in display cases across the entrance wall.

There are multiple advirtisements of Velvette's Love Potion and images of the Vees displayed on the walls of the room, including a large painting of Vox made by Valentino. His office also has shelves with an assortment of bottles. There is also an elevator like his surveillance room in front of the entrance door, as seen in Once We Get Up There.

Vox's bedroom

Vox's bedroom has two navy blue walls with some circuitry patterns, and a large glowing cyan wall. Across from the cyan wall, the building's exterior wall is comprised of large windows, giving a view of the Entertainment District. The ceiling of the room is navy blue with neon lights lining the corners. There are types of flooring, with primarily a dark navy blue that cuts to cyan lined tiles at the glass wall.

In front of the window wall is Vox's desk with a speaker on top at each side and a chair behind it. On each corner of the ceiling are some with cameras nearby, and there is a speaker above Vox's desk.

Nearby to the door is Vox's large bed, which has a white sheet, a blue blanket, and blue pillows, and has multiple screens on the bed's headboard slat, and a painting of Vox shirtless riding Shok.wav above it. Beside the bed is a bedside table with books and a speaker on top.

Valentino's penthouse

Valentino's penthouse is on one of the top floors. The room is full of posters of Valentino and one has a wall-wide window on one side. There are two couches with Valentino's icon across them around a rug with a circular table, and with is a television opposite a couch. Located in a nook in the wall is a desk that has four monitors and an old photograph of Valentino and Vox.

Around the room are numerous potted plants, and there is a cabinet full of Valentino's guns with another a poster of Valentino. There is also a staircase leading up to a second floor.

Valentino's studios

The studios resembles the V Tower's hallways, and has plants along the walls, as well as several posters of the Vees and Angel Dust. There has been multiple sets and backgrounds depending on the porn Valentino films. There are also two known dressing rooms; one on the same floor as the main studio and a dressing room upstairs with a balcony overlooking a small indoor garden.

Velvette's fashion department

The fashion department has mirrors, fabrics, and sewing machines where the latest clothing is being made.

Trivia

It appears to be modeled after the Capitol Records building in Hollywood.According to Arielle Somerville, some of the Spanish inspiration for V Tower came from the "Valentino" fan animatic he did in 2021, which itself was inspired a lot by The Cheetah Girls 2 because it was the only reference he had to Spain.[1]The V Tower bears a resemblance to modern depictions of the Tower of Babel.

The Pride Ring is one of the seven Rings of Hell and is the first and topmost ring within Hell.

Sinners are confined to and can only exist in this ring, however, like the other rings in Hell, the Pride Ring is accessible and traversable by Hellborn species.[1][2]

Description

The Pride Ring is a heavily urbanized ring of Hell, having numerous cities that are overpopulated by the countless sinner demons who are condemned to Hell after their deaths on Earth, as well as some Hellborn species who originate from the other rings.

Outside of the cities, the landscape consists of jagged, barren mountains, valleys and cliffs colored in various shades of dark red and maroon. There is no vegetation beyond those seen inside urban areas, aside from tufts of dark grass in the flatlands. The sky has been shown to be colored red, shifting to a dark reddish-purple hue at night[3] with red and white stars, and in Pentagram City a red, pentagram-shaped apparition is seen above the city at all times. Also from this ring, the pentagram moon and Heaven are visible in the sky. Its full moon is a glowing orb with light swirling around it.

This ring experiences yearly attacks by the Exorcists in order to quell the overpopulation crisis and prevent a feared uprising from Hell's Sinner population. As per Lucifer's deal with Heaven, the Hellborn of the Pride Ring, and by extension the rest of Hell, are to be spared from the Extermination.

There is a magical barrier that physically prevents sinners from leaving the ring.[4]

Trivia

The realm may be inspired by the nine circles of Hell from Dante Alighieri's Inferno. While presented as the top ring in Hazbin Hotel, there is no circle of pride mentioned in Inferno, instead the first circle is said to be limbo. Pride is actually the first terrace of Mount Purgatory in the Purgatorio, part of Dante's Divine Comedy. The Pride Ring was the first of the seven rings to be introduced. This is the only ring to be seen in both Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss.According to the "Mammon's Clown Pageant" shirt merchandise, the Pride Ring has a location called "The Royal Circle".[5][6] However, it is currently not known whether the information listed on the shirt is canon in the show.As mentioned in Valentino's texts in "It's A Deal", the Pride Ring doesn't have islands. This is likely due to the Pride Ring not having any oceans, as Blitzo mentioned in "Spring Broken" that the nearest ocean is in the Greed Ring.As mentioned by Alastor in "Scrambled Eggs", there can be acid rain.As shown in "Scream Rain", there is a type of rain where when the lightning strikes, rather than producing thunderous noises, instead lets out screams. The ring was first directly mentioned in Hazbin Hotel in the episode "Curtain Call" during the song Hear My Hope.

"Just because you see a smile, don't think you know what's going on underneath. A smile is a valuable tool, my dear. It inspires your friends, keeps your enemies guessing, and ensures no matter what comes your way, you're the one in control."

Alastor, also known as The Radio Demon, is a sinner demon and one of the many powerful Overlords of Hell. He is one of the main protagonists of Hazbin Hotel.

He is the wickedly charismatic demon who has offered to assist Charlie Morningstar in her endeavors, albeit for his own amusement.

Before being condemned to Hell, Alastor used to be a radio host in New Orleans who acted as a sadistic serial killer at night until he was shot by a hunter when he was mistaken for a deer.

In "It's A Deal", it is revealed that Alastor's soul is owned by Rosie, who was responsible for making him the strongest sinner, and not only the reason behind his 7-year absence, but also the one who sent him to the Hotel. After quitting the Hotel, and in a plan to escape his deal, he faced the Vees and ended up making a deal with Vox, who became his captor.

In "Curtain Call", Alastor uses his deal with Charlie to have her call Vox the strongest sinner in Hell, breaking his deal with Rosie, and knowing of Vox's lack of regard for others' personal space, their deal was also broken when he laid his hands on Charlie, having made him agree not to. He then rejoins the Hotel, having seemingly new motivation involving Lucifer.

"As punishment for their reckless act, Heaven cast Lucifer and his love into the dark pit he had created, never allowing him to see the good that came from humanity, only the cruel and the wicked."

Hell is the primary setting of both Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. It is where both sinners and hellborn demons reside.

Description

Hell is the supernatural realm of demons. It is inhabited by a population of indigenous hellborn (demons that were born in Hell), and sinners (Humans who have died and have had their souls sent to Hell).

The atmosphere is presented as perpetually choleric, disorderly, and noxious, though capable of supporting carbon-based lifeforms. Hell's geography is divided into Seven Rings, as first revealed by the lyrics in "You Will Be Okay". Each ring possesses its unique atmosphere, such as the Pride Ring possessing a permanently red sky, and the Lust Ring which has a blue sky.

Hellborn demons have the known ability to traverse across any of the rings, made easily accessible via an extensive elevator network, whereas sinner demons are confined to the top-most ring, the Pride Ring, by methods and reasons unknown.[2]

Hell's society is incredibly chaotic due to the unstable and hostile disposition of its populace. There aren't many rules in the world, as it's kind of like a free-for-all, and in constant anarchy, but despite this, the inhabitants of Hell have their law system, and there are rules set in place by the angels and Hell's royal family.[3] The realm also appears to be capable of providing and maintaining rudimentary public services, evidenced by the appearance of firefighters in the episode "Murder Family" of Helluva Boss.

Within Hell's civilization, there exists a crude form of hierarchy[4] defined by power,[5] with all of Hell being ruled by a king, the fallen angel Lucifer Morningstar, whose daughter and heir apparent is Princess Charlie.[6]

The levels of this hierarchy are broken up from top-to-bottom as follows:[7]

Lucifer Morningstar - The King of HellCharlie Morningstar - The Princess of Hell, heir apparent to Hell's throneThe Seven Deadly Sins - Demons who embody one of the seven deadly sinsThe Ars Goetia - Hellborn Demons with royal and noble statusOverlords - Demons who wield considerable power and influenceSinners - Immortal Demons who were once humans on Earth, having sinned, were damned to HellHellborn demons - Succubi, Incubi, and other species of demons native to HellImps and Hellhounds - The bottom of Hell's society

Even though the Seven Deadly Sins are on the same level of hierarchy, there seems to be at least some hierarchy between them; Lucifer, being a Fallen Angel and the King of Hell, has authority over, and is ranked separately above the others, however, with his absence, Satan fills in as the leader, showing that Satan has more influence and authority than the other five.

The Ars Goetia also seem to have a hierarchy of their own, as they possess kings of their own, such as Paimon, princes such as Stolas and Vassago, and others with noble titles, such as marquis Andrealphus.

It is currently unknown where exactly fallen angels, such as Vaggi, would fit in the hierarchy.

Prior to the events of "Curtain Call", the Exorcists from Heaven attempted to solve the Pride Ring's overpopulation problem by a yearly event known as the Extermination, which was a mass genocide of its inhabitants. These were conducted primarily to reduce Hell's sinner population and prevent uprisings, while leaving Hellborn denizens unharmed as per an agreement Lucifer made with Heaven's leadership. By "Curtain Call", Charlie seems to have succeeded in stopping these killings by redemption being proven to both Heaven and Hell, and sinners now knowing they have a chance to rehabilitate and redeem themselves by checking into her Hotel and ascending to Heaven.

History

Thousands of years ago, after Lucifer gave humanity free will by offering Eve the Fruit of Knowledge, because of this, Hell was accidentally created when evil entered into the Earth. After Lucifer and Lilith were cast into Hell, Lucifer became its ruler but lost his will to dream, becoming reclusive, but Lilith thrived in Hell, using her voice and her songs to empower all of demonkind and allowing Hell to grow stronger every day,[8] until, seven years prior to "It's A Deal", an annual Extermination was put in place to prevent Hell from rising against Heaven.

The origins of many Hellborn species of demons and the Seven Deadly Sins are completely unknown as of now. However, each Sin has a species they created, such as Lucifer creating the Goetia species,[9] and Satan having mentioned creating the imp species to be obedient.

At some point a hierarchy was set to distinguish demons based on status. Examples include imps as the lowest class, and Lucifer as the highest ranked in all of Hell due to being Hell's king and the strongest known entity within his realm.

In "Silenced", Media Overlord Vox was publicly appointed the voice of the people and leader by the sinners of Hell, before he declared an-all-out war on Heaven, until he began killing sinners in his attempts to kill Alastor in "Curtain Call", turning the public against him.

After the war and the Exterminations were put to and end and redemption was proven, Hell started to live in peace with Heaven.

Rules & Law Enforcement

Despite its chaotic environment, Hell has laws and rules of its own known as "demon law". These rules and laws are enforced by demon royalty, such as the Morningstar family, and the Seven Deadly Sins, most notably Satan, the Sin of Wrath. Demons who break these laws will face trial and punishment.

Known Rules and LawsSinners are unable to leave the Pride Ring.Sinners can advertise media outside the Pride Ring, however.Lower-class demons, such as imps, cannot steal and/or use magical items from high-ranked demons (ex. Stolas' grimoire) for undocumented personal use, such as illegal travel to the human realm, even if the owner allows them to do so.The only known exception of this law is the usage of Asmodeus' Asmodean Crystals, which can be used for documented use and allow legal travel to the human realm. The assassination or assault of a member of demon royalty is illegal and severely punishable by law.Betrayal from a member of demon royalty (ex. the Ars Goetia) is considered treason. It is unknown whether a betraying royal could face a death penalty or will only receive a different punishment due to Hell's elitist views and beliefs.Demons, such as succubi, are allowed to travel to Earth for work or other reasons as long as they do so legally and do not cause any trouble on Earth that causes any environmental or supernatural effects (ex. mutating a catfish into a giant monster).Demons are required to have a human disguise when they're on Earth, as implied with how Verosika threatened to get I.M.P in trouble and how Loona reprimanded them for going to Earth without human disguises in "Spring Broken".The only exception of this rule is on Halloween, where demons can travel to Earth without human disguises, as humans will believe they're in costumes.

As of now, it is unknown if Sinners can face consequence for breaking demon law, as Hellborn demons are, so far, the only demons shown to face consequence. It is also unknown if the exemption of Hellborn demons from the Exterminations fit as a demon law due to it being an agreement between both Heaven and Hell.

A species of demons known as Reapers act as the law enforcement of Hell. Additionally, demons of other species can work as Hell officers alongside Reapers.

Certain laws that apply on Earth appear to apply in Hell as well, as shown in the Greed Ring in "Exes and Oohs", robbing a bank is illegal and can lead to jail time, though the specifics of jail time and the law in Hell are unknown.

Trivia

Vivziepop's original depiction of Hell as a location was first featured in her popular web-comic, ZooPhobia; it was one that the characters of Hazbin Hotel were originally due to fit in with, and that featured in her third-year short-film, Son of 666. However, Vivziepop confirmed that her Hellaverse and ZooPhobia do not share the same universe or version of Hell, stating that their separate Hell theologies are not compatible.[10]According to Vivziepop, the Hell of ZooPhobia focuses much more on mythological figures inspired by various world religions such as the Deities. Rather than the Hellaverse which is more of a personal representation of Hell by Vivziepop herself.[11]The setting of Hell in the Hellaverse draws its inspiration from a variety of sources. Vivziepop stated that she didn't want the show to be limited to the perspective of one specific text or religion, instead wanting it to be much broader in concept.[12] Within that idea, Vivziepop incorporated many characters and details from popular demonology texts, such as Dante's Inferno and The Lesser Key of Solomon.Vivziepop does think that Hell has its own demonic languages, but also that the language logic of the world was such that it "went without saying" and that English was only spoken as default as a kind of stand-in for the language of the show.[13]Hell runs just like a "big sleazy city", and everything in Hell is off-brand and of terrible quality, including the movies. Vivziepop thinks there would be a lot of public-domain cartoons on TV.[14]Hell is a very violent place where fights and aggression are common, but the only way a resident can be truly killed (i.e. their existence is permanently erased), or have serious bodily harm inflicted, is with Angelic weaponry. There is a black market for the Angel-adorned weapons, which are brought to Hell by the Exorcists during their yearly exterminations, and are then are collected by the residents of Hell.[15]Vivziepop played with the idea that, when a sinner is killed, their "dark energy" seeps into the ground to become part of the living fabric of Hell, hence why some objects and buildings appear to be 'alive'. She discussed a part of Hell that she planned to explore (if she was given the scope to do so) called Wonderland, where a great deal of this energy had collected and so is full of the most horrifying and dangerous monsters.[16][17]Hell has its varied geography and climate, including jungles and forests, and its own native creatures. Everything in Hell is dangerous, inhospitable, and terrifying.[18]There are many cities in Hell beyond Pentagram City, however, Vivziepop stated that most of Hazbin Hotel will take place within the main city.[19]The main setting for Helluva Boss, and the location of the company's offices, is another city within the Pride Ring called Imp City, where many imp demons reside. It resembles a business district. There is an area of Hell called the Cannibal Town, where many of Hell's cannibal population reside. It resembles a classic Americana town that is stuck in the 1910s, drawing inspiration from Hello Dolly!.[20][note 1] This location can be seen in Alastor's comic, as he briefly passes through the area.Although Vivziepop was still working out the details, and thought that much of it would function on "cartoon logic", she thought it made sense for sinners to arrive in a location in Hell that was relevant to their geographical location on Earth.[21] She joked that there is a nice town for the Canadians in Hell called "Heck".[22][23]The seas of Hell are a dark gray/blackish color.[24]There is seemingly oxygen in Hell as evidenced by Moxxie's statement in the episode "C.H.E.R.U.B", where he exclaims he was "losing oxygen" after being buried under debris. In the ADDICT music video and "Ozzie's", it is shown that it can rain in Hell.As mentioned by Alastor in "Scrambled Eggs", there can be acid rain.As shown in the episode "Scream Rain", there is a type of rain where when the lightning strikes, rather than producing thunderous noises, instead lets out screams.Allergies do exist in Hell and are part of the numerous inconveniences that occur at regular intervals. According to Vivziepop, life in hell consists of periods of stability, followed by periods of unpleasantness, which everyone is forced to deal with together.[25]Vivziepop joked that the only song available to sing in Hell's Karaoke bars is "Mambo No. 5", and that she thinks it would be funny to license that song or similar.[26]Demons do celebrate holidays in Hell.[27]Instead of celebrating Christmas and expecting Santa Claus, demons eagerly wait for Krampus to visit their homes. Vivziepop has explained that in Hell demons treat Krampus like Santa Claus, viewing him like a good figure, and that like how Krampus is the negative contrast to Santa on Earth, there is a negative contrast to Krampus in Hell as well[28] called the Black Hatter, who would come and beat up demons with his hat hands.[29]In an interview, Vivziepop explained that the Black Hatter is an inside joke from when she and her crew were trying to figure out what Hell's version of Chistmas lore would be, stemming from how old black and white films would have villains in black hats and heroes in white hats. Vivziepop says that they were trying to come up with the weirdest-sounding storybook-esque character, who has some lore relevance, which would have been used to scare Charlie to go to bed as a child, and they came up with the idea of Lucifer saying to "Go to bed on time or the Black Hatter will come and get you". Vivziepop's design for the Black Hatter is entirely comprised of hats.[29]Hell doesn't directly share or use technology from Earth but parallels it with devices of indigenous origin which are introduced alongside modern Sinners upon arrival in Hell.[30] For instance, cellphones in Hell are called "Hellphones" and they play anguished screams in place of conventional phone sounds. However, other technologies presented in both series are decades in advance of technology found on Earth. These include autonomous, sentient machines, advanced cybernetic limbs, and even energy weapons.According to Viviziepop, Hell years work differently from Earth years.[31]As shown when the Clock Tower resets for the annual extermination in the Hazbin Hotel pilot, Hell follows Earth's Gregorian Calendar, having 365 days in a year. However, it is unknown if Hell also follows Earth's leap years. As shown in Blitzo's calendar seen in "Seeing Stars", it is revealed that Hell has seven-day weeks, which include a Sunday, and as seen in the contents of Stolas' phone in "Western Energy", a Monday. As shown in the contents of Stolas' phone in "Western Energy", it is revealed that Hell segregates their mornings and nights as "AM" and "PM".In "Unhappy Campers", after Moxxie and Millie stay on Earth for almost a week, five days, it is revealed that it has also been about a week in Hell as Blitzo yells at Moxxie "It's been like a fucking week", which may imply that Hell and Earth have the same or very similar flow of time as each other.Contrary to the typical Hell presented in other media, Hell in Hazbin Hotel is a highly elaborate realm that punishes its populace without direct and unending torture as per its religious depictions. Punishment in the Hell of Hazbin Hotel seemingly derives from its continuous state of chaos and violence, with demons and sinners expected to consistently suffer from incidents involving such which they will experience for eternity.[32]While it is not a mirror image to Heaven,[33] Hell does have a handful of similarities that parallel that of Heaven's. Noteworthy parallels include:I.M.P being an organization that offers the opposing service of C.H.E.R.U.B.Despite the purpose both services have, one difference is that C.H.E.R.U.B is bureaucratic (and possibly instituted), while I.M.P is a freelance organization.Species such as imps have their part of Hell to live in, such as Imp City, a parallel to Heaven's Cherub Towne.Demons operate by a hierarchy, parallel to Heaven having its hierarchy.[34]It seems like Hell and Heaven share the same plane of existence, since Vox was able to blast angelic beams with the Might of Lilith and managed to reach Heaven and destroy its barrier in "Weapon of Mass Distraction".Blitzo hints at the Hell-equivalent phenomenon of an earthquake in the episode "C.H.E.R.U.B", a hellshake or a hellquake. However, it is unknown if this is an actual event or not. And if so, it is also unknown if this phenomenon only happens in selected areas in any of the Rings, since, according to Moxxie, such a thing does not happen or seem to exist. The rarity of hellshakes might also be a subtle nod to Dante's Inferno, wherein Virgil explains that the ruins and crevices encountered in the 2nd and 7th Circles were all caused by the same tremor that occurred during the Harrowing of Hell.In "Truth Seekers", Blitzo mentions he dropped out of college, implying that there is a school system. There are also pictures of Charlie and Seviathan at a prom framed at the Hazbin Hotel, which is specifically an event held at high schools. In "Apology Tour", it is revealed that hellborn demons can travel to Earth during Halloween. However, it is unclear if this also applies for non-Hellborn demons, such as Sinners.Hell is able to access and view television programs from both Heaven and Earth.According to Millie in "Ghostf**kers", demons make the most money in the Greed and Lust rings. It is currently unknown exactly how old Hell is other than it emerged after Eve was convinced to eat the Fruit of Knowledge. However, in the Finale song, Lucifer states that "In the last 10,000 years, you're the first one to change this town", meaning that Hell is at least 10,000 years old, but whether "this town" refers to all of Hell, the

"Well, hello there, you wayward Sinner. Do you like blood, violence, and depravity of a sexual nature? Of course you do! That's why you're in Hell. But what would you say if I told you there was a place to stay that had none of that? Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel, a misguided path to redemption! Founded five days ago by Lucifer's delusional daughter, Charlotte Morningstar! Come place your fate in her inexperienced hands as she tries to work through her daddy issues by fixing you!!!"

The Hazbin Hotel, formerly known as the Happy Hotel, is a hotel run by Charlie Morningstar for guests who are undergoing rehabilitation to stay at. It is located in Pentagram City within the Pride Ring of Hell.[1]

Description

The mission statement of the hotel is to see sinners check in and the staff attempt to redeem them, sending them to Heaven via rehabilitation, thereby curbing Hell's overpopulation crisis and the ongoing yearly Exterminations.

The hotel suffers ongoing mockery and criticism from most of Hell's denizens, most notably the 666 News anchor Katie Killjoy, who deems the idea of reforming demons laughable.

History

Past

The Hazbin Hotel was previously owned by the royal family before being abandoned for unknown reasons. The hotel formerly may have served as a mansion of sorts while it was owned and inhabited by the family prior to its transformation into a hotel, as suggested by the prevalence of pictures of Charlie, family, and friends on the walls of the establishment.

At some point prior to the events of the Dirty Healings comic and pilot, Charlie assumed ownership of the structure and began to repurpose it towards being a hotel aimed at redeeming sinners. Charlie was subsequently successful in enticing a single sinner, Angel Dust, to inhabit the hotel as its first client, albeit being done under financial incentive.

Hazbin Hotel pilot

Following a failed interview with 666 News, Alastor approached the hotel and offered his services as a business partner to promote the hotel, though only with the intention of watching sinners try and fail to redeem themselves. Charlie accepts this offer, as she welcomes any and all the help she could get. Alastor subsequently altered the name of the hotel from the "Happy Hotel" to the "Hazbin Hotel".

Hazbin Hotel Season 1"Overture""Radio Killed the Video Star""Scrambled Eggs""Masquerade""Dad Beat Dad"

Lucifer Morningstar, the Hotel's former owner, visited the Hotel in order to see Charlie, while Charlie wanted to convince him to get her a meeting with Heaven. The Hotel was later attacked by loan sharks, who were after Mimzy, until Alastor dealt with them.

"Welcome to Heaven"

One of the Hotel walls is blown up by Cherri Bomb.

"Hello Rosie!"

While Charlie and Vaggi go to get reinforcements and weapons to fight the Exorcists, Sir Pentious, Angel Dust, Niffty, and Husk put up defensive measures within the Hotel.

"The Show Must Go On"

The war between the Exorcists and Charlie's forces takes place during the early Extermination, and the Hotel is later destroyed by Adam in an attempt to attack Lucifer. After the battle, a new Hotel was promptly built by the Hotel group, Cherri Bomb, and Lucifer, who made the building much larger than before.

Hazbin Hotel Season 2"New Pentious"

The Hotel is flooded with sinners, but almost all quickly leave after realizing the Hotel wasn't for killing angels. Baxter is one of the handful who check into the Hotel. Vox has 666 News slander the Hotel's reputation.

"Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors"

Overlords Vox and Velvette visit the Hotel to meet with Charlie for an exlusive interview, who attempts to redeem Angel Dust to prove her Hotel works. The two Vees record and broadcast a special further slandering the Hotel. Cherri then decides to check into the Hotel.

"It's A Deal"

Alastor quits and leaves his job as the host of the Hotel.

"Silenced"

After Vox's rally, almost all the remaining guests leave. Lucifer is kicked out of the Hotel after his confrontation with Vox.

"Scream Rain"

Husk quits his bartender job, but later returns to the Hotel after a conversation with Angel Dust. Angel Dust leaves the Hotel against his own will.

"Weapon of Mass Distraction"

Angel Dust slanders the Hotel whilst under Vox's hypnotism.

"Curtain Call"

Angel Dust decides to not return to the Hotel to keep his friends there safe. The Hotel is flooded by sinners once again after Sir Pentious proves redemption is possible. Lucifer and Alastor rejoin the Hotel, Vaggi becomes the hotel manager, and Charlie becomes the head counselor.

Design

CurrentExterior

The hotel's exterior has now changed drastically compared to the previous exterior after it had been destroyed by Adam and the Exorcists. It is a tall, elaborate building which includes a cruise ship on the left side of the building. Around the hotel, it has half-broken train track with the steam train. Although, there are moments where the steam train functions.

Interior

The hotel's interior has an elaborate color, with the previous hotel's wallpaper returning. The lobby includes a reception directly across from the entrance with a set of stairs on either side, an extravagent bar to the left of the entrance, and a lounge area with a television to the right of the entrance. Nearby to the lounge is a fireplace with a memorial to Sir Pentious above it.

There is now a dedicated therapy room. There is also another lounge room with its own personal bar, a table with a radio atop it, and also a pink pig-shaped kennel for Fat Nuggets to take naps in.

Charlie and Vaggi's room

Their room has now been expanded from what it was originally after the battle with the Exorcists and the destruction from Adam. The main area still seems to have red flooring, the walls now having symbols of an apple and a serpent coming out of it, with the section beneath the ceiling, which has a chandelier, having patterns of an apple being uneaten and fully eaten. On the floor, there's a circular carpet with patterns of lighter and darker shades of red and at the center an apple that appears to have been chewed out on top of a star that's surrounded by a circle with teeth or claws coming over the edges of the circle. Beside it there seems to be a dark-colored mat with a brown-colored Wing Chun dummy, likely Vaggi's area she uses to practice fighting, further supported by there being weapons hung up on the wall behind curtains that are drawn back with lights showcasing it with a door beside it. At the back, there's a desk with a serpent biting the back corner of it, likely being Charlie's desk with various things in the shelves below and above it with a round seat cushion situated in the inner corner of the desk. To the right there's a shelves near the corner-filled with things, and to the left side of the desk there's various mirrors hung up on the wall. While still keeping the window view of Pentagram City, it's now been elevated and there's ramps, the right one having a wooden crow's nest from the old hotel building, now being filled with toys, items and Charlie's pitchfork, leading up to it, beneath it shelves of books, with their bed beside it.

Lucifer's room

After Lucifer decided to stay at the hotel to help out Charlie, he also got a room of his own that is located in the apple-shaped tower of the right side of the hotel. His room has a royal and regal design and has also been decorated with tons of rubber ducks, pennant streamers, a bookcase with tons of books and a toy model of the rings of hell. He also has photos of the other deadly sins and his family photo hung on the top of his wall above the entrance to his room.

Alastor's room

Although Alastor's room has not been fully shown yet, it was partially seen where it is presumed to be the same mixture between both traditional décor and the fantastical, where another ruin of a house with a dressing table, hanging Niffty's roach crown, is now seen on the other half where the literal swamp was conjured. His room could be located in the deer-shaped tower on the left side of the hotel.

Cherri Bomb's room

After officially checking in to the hotel, Cherri now has her own room that was decorated with some posters, graffiti on the walls, decorative cherry designed wall lights and a disco ball-shaped light. Her bed is also decorated with designed cherry pillows and a couple of photos hung over on the top of her bed with a platypus plushie. She also has a desk where she would make her signature bombs and a makeup desk and mirror near the left corner of the walls.

Baxter's room

As Husk stated and confirmed, Baxter's room is located in the basement of the hotel where he would sometimes isolate himself and perform his experiments in his newly built laboratory after moving into the hotel. His room was decorated with bioluminescent-glowing lights and is equipped with beakers, VoxTek technology (a Voxtop, monitors and a VoxTek tablet) and mirrors. His bed was also located under the pipe and next to the power switch lever of the hotel.

FormerExterior

The Hazbin Hotel exterior was a tall, elaborate amalgamation of arched windows and turrets, one of which seems to be broken. In the pilot, the building's exterior suffered from being in a state of extreme disrepair and untidiness.

It appears to be at least seven stories tall, with at least five of which being guest floors. Remnants of a zeppelin, an ocean liner, a sailing ship and a carousel litter both sides and appear to have been incorporated into the structure of the building itself; there is also a train with some tracks looping the first and second floor exterior. Located on the top right of the building is a small radio broadcasting room, used as the work area for Alastor.

Many signs are displayed outside the hotel: One atop the entrance reminiscent of the Hazbin Hotel logo, a large pink one atop the building with the hotel's name in lights, a neon 'HOTEL' sign at the bottom right and atop the building where Alastor's broadcast room is located, a small 'On-Air' sign is visible. Also located on the outer facade are various arrows pointing to the entrance and the broadcast room.

The entrance has a tented cover with a booth in the center reminiscent of a circus or theater ticket booth. On either side of the booth are a set of double doors that have stained glass; in the pilot, they depicted an apple on each one but were destroyed by an explosion due to Sir Pentious blowing up the doors with his zeppelin.

At the end of the pilot, the sign name is changed from the "Happy Hotel" to "Hazbin Hotel" by Alastor.

Interior

The hotel's interior was shown to be in a state of disrepair, with wooden boards covering shattered windows, signs warning of asbestos, bloodied tools left lying around, and paintings are shown hanging off the walls. Much of the furniture in the lobby are strewn around haphazardly or remain boxed up in several large wooden crates. In the pilot, the building's interior suffered from being in a state of extreme disrepair and untidiness.

The bar uses skeletons, snakes, and bones as general themes, along with card suits and candles, and advertises itself as a casino. The area the bar in has glowing green wooden walls instead of the usual red wallpaper, with a "Jackpot" sign on the left wall and a Beelzejuice neon sign on the right wall. The word "concierge" can be presumed to be shown above the bar, and Alastor calls it the front desk when talking to Husk, suggesting that it is also the check-in counter.

Despite the shabby and poor condition of the hotel, the overall theme of the building remains ornate and regal, with stained glass windows, lavish furniture, and generous usage of gold. Like the rest of Hell, the hotel has a largely red color scheme. There are many apple, snake and circus motifs throughout the hotel's interior, in reference to the royal family, or more specifically, Lucifer Morningstar. Eyes are also a recurring theme throughout the building, appearing on the frame of almost every single painting and several vases and jars.

Charlie and Vaggi's room

The room the two women shared was rather large, with a regal look and a large bed, and has a window with a view of Pentagram City.

Angel Dust's room

In the ADDICT music video, Angel's room had striped wallpaper with spider patterns, a vanity, mirrors, a place to put his wigs, and a bed. In "Radio Killed the Video Star", his wallpaper lacks the spider patterns, and his bed has several pillows of various design, while beside it is a small bed for Fat Nuggets shaped like a pink heart with a small pillow on top, and with both beds on a single platform with neon lights. The wall behind the bed has photos of him, Cherri, and Fat Nuggets, as well as a couple of his film posters, while the bedside wall has neon lights shaped like webs.

In "The Show Must Go On", the door to his room is shown to have neon lights shaped like webs with hearts, and has three photos of him and his friends, and Fat Nuggets.

Alastor's room

Alastor's room has a mixture between both traditional décor and the fantastical, with one half being a classic "fancy study", complete with tasteful wallpaper and furnishings, the other half being a literal swamp conjured as a dining area.

Sir Pentious' room

Sir Pentious' room shares his zeppelin's steampunk aesthetics of golden cogs and gears and a red and black color scheme. His bed is shown to be a circular mattress lined with pillows. According to Skye Henwood, there is a heat lamp on the ceiling.[2]

Trivia

Despite being referred to as a hotel, the Hazbin Hotel's purpose is more akin to that of a halfway house, which are prisons or institutions designed to help people with criminal records, substance addictions among other problematic behaviors reintegrate back into society. It may also reference the idea of Purgatory in certain sects of Christianity, as both are methods of cleansing sin to bring dead souls to Heaven. Both the Hotel redesign and the rebuilt Hotel main series designs were made by Sam Miller.[3][4]The top of the rebuilt Hotel bears slight similarity in shape to the head, cobra-hood, and hat of Sir Pentious, most likely meant to memorialize him.The prototype exterior of the hotel bears a striking resemblance to the Hotel Hightower located in the Tokyo DisneySea theme park resort in Urayasu, Japan.By extension, the style of architecture used for the hotel's facade is known as Moorish Revival while the roofing style is known as Queen Anne style, which carried over in more articulation to the working design of the hotel.During the scene while Niffty is cleaning the hotel, a clock similar to the "Conditional Immortality" clock from the webcomic, Homestuck, is shown.According to Sam Miller, the carpets of the hotel seen in the ADDICT music video have a pattern based on vintage circus tickets.[5]According to Alastor in the Hotel's first commercial he made in "Overture", the Hotel still does not have a working phone. As shown in "New Pentious", the ruined area where the original Hotel was, in the distance behind the current one, has become covered in a lot of black markings and eyes.According to Niffty in her song, the rat infestation at the hotel had gone so bad that they've become immune to the mace spray she uses, so she resorts to stabbing them instead. In "Silenced", one of the sinners had a map of the Hotel, implying after the hotel was rebuilt, they now gave maps to sinners who were staying at the hotel.

"Now that is a magical song... Tom, did you get all that gay shit?"is saved from destruction

Katie Killjoy is a sinner demon and the head anchor of 666 News, Hell's premiere news station. She is a supporting antagonist who made her debut in the Hazbin Hotel pilot.

Appearance

Katie is a tall, very thin, white-skinned humanoid demon with a long neck that mirrors her torso and a big bust. She has a large round head and short, neck-length blonde hair in a bob cut styled to flair out into an almost fan-like shape with lighter-colored streaks, and bangs that are swept to the side.

Her eyes have rose-colored sclera and normally non-visible white pupils, and she also has red lipstick on her lips for makeup, as well as rose-red polished pointed nails.

Her attire consists of a set of pearl earrings, a matching pearl choker-necklace around her neck, a black-trimmed rose red blazer with a sweetheart neckline and enclosed by two black buttons, a black pencil skirt with white bell-bottom pants worn over it, and crimson-red pointed low-heels.

Full Demon Form

In her full demon form, she reveals four extra pairs of eyes, which, alongside her original pair of eyes, glow bright red. She also summons two extra pairs of black spider leg-like limbs from behind her back with sharp, red ends similar to blades. She also gains sharp teethed underbite.

Pilot

In the pilot, Katie's overall appearance is exactly the same, only her outfit consisted of a long-sleeved rose-red minidress with matching pointed low-heels.

In her full demon form, she only gained one extra pair of eyes, sharper teeth, and her extra limbs were completely red.

Personality

Katie is arrogant, selfish, and narcissistic. She openly derides Charlie's plan to rehabilitate demons. She cares mostly about her own image, the hottest stories, and the latest gossip. Katie is aggressive and seems to always be on edge. She deliberately spills hot coffee on Tom's crotch, while insulting and threatening Charlie. At the same time, Katie does not tolerate insults in her direction, and when Charlie snaps and calls her a bitch, Killjoy instantly falls into a rage and rushes at the princess with her fists.

She has also been shown to be homophobic, refusing to even shake hands with Charlie, claiming she "does not touch the gays" due to her "standards", although did immediately proceed to poke the latter several times. In "It's A Deal", when Charlie confronts her due to her homophobic behavior, Katie denies it and instead says that she "just hates gay people", thus showing Katie's hypocrisy.

Like many sinners, she doesn't seem to care about, or even acknowledge Charlie's royal position in Hell, and openly expresses contempt for her and her ventures. In "The Show Must Go On", she was willing to acknowledge Charlie, Lucifer, and Charlie's friends for fighting against the angels and having the Extermination Day cancelled, saying that they were "useful for once".

In "New Pentious", it is shown that Katie is equally infatuated and intimidated by Vox, to the point of showing fear at his discontent, while also repeatedly making sexual advances towards him.

Katie often displays emotional expressions, reacting with elation after seeing the Hazbin Hotel staff and the Overlords sing Hear My Hope to contain the Might of Lilith, although she later mocks it by calling it "gay shit".

Abilities

Immortality - As a sinner, Katie is biologically immortal, being unable to die from illnesses and unable to age, remaining the same age as when she died, thus can not die of old age and other natural causes. She also cannot die from any kind of damage to the body, and will recover from any injury, however, she can only be permanently killed with angelic weaponry.Demon transformation - Killjoy has the ability to transform into a more demonic form when angered.Body distortion - Katie is capable of distorting her own body. She can crack and distort her own neck and snap it back in place with ease and have no lingering side effects afterwards.SkillsetHand-to-hand combat - Killjoy is shown to go all-out when she engages in hand-to-hand combat. Her skills are well known by Trench as he quickly escapes the scene after Charlie angers her.

Trivia

Her last name, Killjoy, means "a person who deliberately spoils the enjoyment of others through resentful or overly sober behavior".According to Vivziepop, Katie is "probably straight" and sleeps with a lot of men.[4] This may be backed up with how she "hates gay people" and is shown trying to convince Vox to sleep with her.In the main series, she shares her voice actor with Blitzo and Loopty Goopty from Helluva Boss, being voiced by Brandon Rogers. She shares her pilot voice actor, Faye Mata, with Glitz and Glam in Helluva Boss.In the Russian dub, she shares her first voice actor, Sephiz, with Deerie from Helluva Boss, and she shares her second voice actor, Max Mann, with Blitzo, Alastor, Angel Dust, and Adam. Her body makes creaking and cracking sounds when she moves.Katie has been shown to be a smoker, both in the pilot and in "Overture".Vivziepop explains that, even though "It's A Deal" reintroduces Katie, due to the pilot spiritually being canon, she likes to think that Katie just doesn't remember she's met Charlie already and barely remembers her name.[5]Regardless of the pilot, in Alastor's advertisement for the Hotel in "Overture", Charlie is shown to be in the 666 News Studio alongside Katie.DevelopmentVivziepop cites the newscaster character, Gail Hailstorm, from Scary Movie as one of her biggest influences when designing Katie, describing her as a perfect "wound-up, up-tight bitch lady", who could also act as a punching bag for the main characters.[6]Katie bears some similarity, such as her main series outfit, to one of Brandon Rogers' own characters, Bryce Tankthrust. According to Brandon Rogers, Katie Killjoy is directly inspired from and based off of this character.[7

Heaven is a location in Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. It made its debut as a cameo in the Hazbin Hotel pilot, and was shown in greater detail in the Helluva Boss episode "C.H.E.R.U.B". It made its official debut in the Hazbin Hotel episode "Welcome to Heaven".

Description

Heaven is the ethereal realm of Angels. It is where human souls go after their departure from life. But, unlike its infernal counterpart, Hell, Heaven is purportedly for the souls who are "good" and "redeemed", although the origin of Heaven and its native inhabitants has yet to be revealed.

The landscape is radically different from Hell and has an entirely different attitude.[1] Existing far, far above Hell itself, Heaven can be seen in the Pride Ring's red sky next to the satanic star moon. At a distance, it appears to be a white orb with several rings around it and surrounded by wing-like clouds. At the surface, its atmosphere features clear yellow/blue skies filled with brilliant rays of light, while its terrain appears to be enormous, extensive fields of cloud.

Sealed by a giant golden gate, Heaven is a blistering paradise for those who were pure of good, allowing the souls to enjoy the luxury of everything opposite of Hell, and their forms were pure, guiding those who've been blessed with following the best interest of Heaven. However, deep inside, Heaven is hiding a dystopic side, as citizens are completely oblivious to the Exorcists descending to Hell annually and causing numerous Sinners their final death in an event known as the Extermination in order to curb Hell's overpopulation problem and to keep Hell at bay so Heaven will remain safe. Even when Adam and Lute inadvertently exposes the truth of the Extermination in front of a court, many angels discuss with each other and many were horrified this event was allowed, most notable being Emily. Lucifer also mentions how Heaven is really strict with rules and aren't opened minded.

Aside from their roles in the afterlife, Heaven and Hell have a very hostile relationship in their roles with each other. Hell was created after Lucifer Morningstar and Lilith brought free will to humanity and evil entered Earth. After Lilith arrived in Hell, she thrived and allowed her to increase the powers of the Demons as more human souls arrive after committing sin. With Hell's power increasing, Sera, the High Seraphim of Heaven, secretly allowed the Extermination to happen under Adam's authority so that Hell cannot rise up against them. In turn, the denizens of Hell hold strong animosity toward Heaven and its inhabitants for the yearly Extermination, with some planning countermeasures and defenses against the attack of Exorcists. Before "Welcome to Heaven", the Extermination was kept secret from everyone in Heaven except Sera and the Exorcists.

Angels have no idea of the requirements a soul needs to pass Divine Judgement and enter Heaven, only knowing when a soul arrives. Out of fear of becoming fallen like Lucifer did, they decide not to question Divine Judgement.

Trivia

Heaven is based on the divine location of the same name in Abrahamic religion, in which it and the angels were often depicted as creations of God. However, God has not been depicted or discussed at length in the Hellaverse. Despite this, no one is allowed to use the Lord's name in vain.Although The Speaker of God refers to speaking for God, Vivziepop considers the concept of God to be so ethereal and beyond comprehension by just its nature that she doesn't ever want to fully depict it. As such, The Speaker is the closest the Hellaverse will have to what is viewed as God, as a being that represents God but is not God. Despite this, Vivziepop teased that the closest to gods in the Hellaverse are the personified entities of Good and Evil mentioned in the opening of "Overture", who are a "huge part of the show".[2][3]Before the series premiered, Vivziepop stated information regarding Heaven was kept under wraps for later in the series, including details on whether it faces an overpopulation crisis akin to that of Hell. However, she mentioned that Heaven is "very interesting", and that she's excited to get to it later in the show.[4] Dave Capdevielle also stated that there was something "fun" planned for Heaven that they did not want to spoil.[1]Vivziepop then stated that she would like to introduce Heaven as a setting as soon as the second episode, though this appearance would likely be minuscule in comparison to later episodes.[1] In the main series, however, Heaven wasn't introduced until the sixth episode, "Welcome to Heaven".As of a livestream on August 13, 2019, Vivziepop had already planned on how Heaven would look alongside how its hierarchy would work.[5]Heaven has a handful of similarities that parallel that of Hell's. Noteworthy parallels include:C.H.E.R.U.B being an organization that offers the opposing service of I.M.P.Species such as Cherubs having their own part of Heaven, such as Cherub Towne.Angels have their own hierarchy,[6] parallel to Demons operating by a power hierarchy. As seen in the Helluva Boss episode "C.H.E.R.U.B", Heaven has at least one TV station that can be viewed in Hell. It might also be pirated material from Voxtek. The buildings of Heaven have halos on top like an Angel. It seems like Hell and Heaven share the same plane of existence, since Vox was able to blast angelic beams with the Might of Lilith and managed to reach Heaven and destroy its barrier in "Weapon of Mass Distraction".This implies that Hell's inhabitants can possibly find a way to travel to Heaven if possible.According to the "Story of Hell" book, Heaven is a city protected by golden gates. These golden gates are seen in "Welcome to Heaven", though it is unknown if they encircle all of Heaven. There are other towns such as Cherub Towne, which also has its own gates. In "The Show Must Go On", Adam claims that Heaven's official currency is "Heaven Bucks", offering one million to whomever brings back Vaggie's head.Given the hesitancy of stating the reward, it is possible he was making it up to motivate his Exorcists. When asked what Charlie would do to prevent the hypothetical of if the entire overpopulation of sinners in Hell were all redeemed and sent to Heaven, Erika responded that "Heaven's just bigger. There's more space".[7] However, whether this is canon or a made up on the spot answer is unknown. In the Hazbin Hotel pilot, Heaven appears as a blueish-white orb with a ring on top mimicking a halo.It is implied that Lucifer may be a pariah in Heaven and/or is not allowed to enter Heaven anymore after being banished despite still having contact based on a few details; In "Overture", he and Lilith gave humanity free will and allowed evil to find its way into Earth, shattering the balance that Heaven tried to maintain. In "Dad Beat Dad", when he agrees to get Charlie a meeting into Heaven, he tells her that she should know that he won't be able to go with her.In "Welcome to Heaven", when Charlie tells St. Peter that she is Lucifer's daughter, he visibly freaks out and questions whether or not she should be in Heaven. In addition, Sera warns Emily that if she starts to question Divine Judgement, she could fall just like Lucifer. In "The Show Must Go On", Adam calls Lucifer "the most hated being in all of creation".While animals like pangolins are endangered on earth, there's a lot of them in Heaven.

"That's right, Katie. It's been a while since Heaven attacked Hell, and Charlie Morningstar and the Hazbin Hotel brutally slaughtered the invading angels and kinda-sorta saved us from the extermination."

Tom Trench is a sinner demon and co-anchorman at 666 News. He is a supporting character in Hazbin Hotel who made his debut alongside his co-anchorman, Katie Killjoy, in the pilot.

Appearance

Tom is a humanoid demon with the face and neck being that of an expressive gas mask, and light blonde sweeped-hair with paler streaks.

He is seen wearing a blue-grey suit-blazer with slightly darker-colored lapels, worn over a lighter blue-grey collared shirt with a red necktie. He also has a red pocket square, hale-navy trousers, black dress shoes, and on his hands it appears to be covered with dark gray gloves.

Personality

Tom appears to have somewhat of a perverted personality, as he frequently makes sexual comments while covering stories on 666 News. He also appears to be neutral with Katie Killjoy's mean-spirited nature, and even participates in the mockery of Charlie after the reveal of Angel Dust's participation in the turf war and the subsequent undermining of Charlie's presentation of her project.

Despite this, it is implied that Tom is nicer than his co-host, as he looked ashamed when she kept making fun of Charlie. Being a passive person, he also tolerates Katie's antagonistic behavior targeted at him, but often still ends up bearing the brunt of her rage due to his own tactlessness.

Abilities

Immortality - As a sinner, Tom is biologically immortal, being unable to die from illnesses and unable to age, remaining the same age as when he died, thus can not die of old age and other natural causes. He also cannot die from any kind of damage to the body, and will recover from any injury, however, he can only be permanently killed with angelic weaponry.

History

Past

Tom died in his 40s roughly during the time of World War I, and once in Hell became a presenter of 666 News.

Hazbin Hotel pilot

After announcing the turf wars, involving Sir Pentious and Cherri Bomb, Katie pours hot coffee on Tom's crotch. When Charlie mentions her first client of the Happy Hotel is Angel Dust, Tom recognizes him as the porn star. As Charlie insulted Katie, Tom ran off set, and as the two women fought, Tom was set ablaze and screaming why nobody was helping him.

Hazbin Hotel Season 1"Overture"

Katie Killjoy and Tom Trench report the breaking news that the Heaven Embassy has announced the new extermination deadline to be six months instead of a year, and when Tom asks Katie what it means she replies that they're all royally fucked.

"The Show Must Go On"

When about to introduce himself, Katie Killjoy shoves Tom Trench out of his seat, saying no one cares who he is. When he returned to his seat his face was covered by a small screen, with him reacting by flipping his middle fingers up, much to his dismay.

Trivia

His last name, Trench, refers to excavations dug in the ground used for military defense purposes. When asked about what is behind Tom's gas mask, Vivziepop has stated, as far as she knows, his gas mask is simply his face.[4]During a livestream where a viewer asked when each of the characters from the pilot had died, Vivziepop asked what year World War I had happened in. A person off-screen answered "the 1920s", to which Vivziepop reacted to with approval.[1] However, World War I lasted from 1914 to 1918, making the statement and his actual death date dubious

"I'm not! I never was. I mean, do you have any idea what they made me do? They had me rattin' the Hotel for... I don't even know how long. You're not safe around me!"

Anthony,[1] more commonly known as Angel Dust, is an adult film star in Hell and one of the main protagonists of Hazbin Hotel.

A famous porn star who works for Valentino and the first sinner the Hotel is attempting to redeem,[16] but his selfish actions of using the Hotel as a rent-free living space threaten to jeopardize Charlie Morningstar's dream.

After reflecting with Husk in "Masquerade" on his own mistreatment and traumas at the hands of Valentino, Angel was finally driven to try and change for the better at the Hotel.

As mentioned by Vox in "Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors", the sin that condemned Angel Dust to Hell was murdering his own father.

In "Scream Rain", it is revealed that Angel Dust was an unwittingly brainwashed spy, manipulated by Vox. In "Curtain Call", after Angel was freed, he was guilt-ridden from being controlled, and spying on and hurting his friends because of it, that Angel Dust left the Hotel to keep his friends safe from himself.

Appearance

Angel is a tall and slender spider-like demon, and the tallest of the main cast;[17] standing around 8 feet with his heels on.[18] Though usually depicted with four arms, Angel has a third, retractable pair of arms that he usually keeps hidden, but can summon at will.

His fur is mostly white which forms into a mop of fluff resembling hair, extending from the front and back of his head with light pink spots across it, alongside a pink heart-shape on the back of his head. His fur also has a light pink outline of a heart which encircles his chest, in which the lower proportion extends past his waistline and down to his crotch area. His arms also have light pink stripes, which additionally, his top set have light pink forearms while his second set have light pink fingers.

His eyes have cerise pink pupils, with pale yellow right and black left-colored heterochronic sclera. His eyes also have light pink eyelids with the color extending to his eyebrows, mimicking eyeshadow. Below each of his eyes are three, small, cerise dots, intended to evoke freckles, which are actually a smaller pair of eyes.[19] He also has a mouth full of sharp and pointed teeth inside, and posseses a single golden fang - a feature he shares with his boss, Valentino.

One of Angel's most noticeable features is his prominent chest, comprised entirely of fluffy fur that Angel intentionally pushes up into a breast-like formation with his tightly pinned jacket for show.[20]

For attire, Angel a long, white-striped light pink suit-blazer which includes black lapels and a small, cerise heart design on the lower back. He also wears a small miniskirt and long heeled thigh-high boots, all colored very dark burgundy. On his arms, he wears two different sets of long arm-length gloves; the upper pair being cerise pink gloves with white scallops on the cuffs, while the lower arms are plain white gloves. He accessorizes with a bowtie with a cerise center a black choker around his neck.

In background artwork seen in the pilot, Angel Dust's feet resemble those of a spider's.[21]

Pilot

In the pilot, Angel's appearance was nearly the same, only his chest was larger, and his right eye sported a cerise iris.

In addition to his clothing, it has some noticeable differences - his blazer was instead striped in two shades of light pink, and the lapels were colored neon fuchsia and formed a heart-shape. His gloves were instead consists of two pairs of neon fuchsia.

Personality

The neon signs describing Angel

Angel is brash and sarcastic, with a quick, sharp wit. He will often use these traits to deflect criticism or insults, and side-step responsibility. He will switch between playful and destructive as he pleases, and his humor tends to be crude and crass, with an emphasis on dirty jokes and innuendos, which he feels is expected of him and actively plays into. He also makes a show of looking down others, declaring the other denizens of Hell to be mostly "ugly freaks". As a result, Angel can often appear flippant and callous.

He is stylish and performs an excessive amount of confidence with his public persona, being wildly flirtatious and interested in receiving positive attention for his looks and the profile he has made for himself in Hell. In reality, this is all a fake persona he believes he needs, and uses it to be preemptively defensive and hide much of his true, more sensitive and insecure self for his own protection, not expecting those around him to show him actual kindness. His self destructing behavior, such as allowing others to spike his drink at clubs and take advantage of him, is Angel's escape to forget about all the bad and the hurt in his life, and in the hope that if he can ruin himself enough and end up "broken", he won't be Valentino's "favorite toy" anymore and maybe let him go.

Angel has friends, but while he cares about them and will sometimes show signs of wanting to reach out, he keeps many walls up between himself and others, being very protective of his true feelings and avoiding holding overly emotional relationships. He held a cynical view on the idea of redemption, although he seems to still hold onto a small hope it may be possible for him. Even so, Angel openly shows his concern for his friends, such as when he insists on protecting Charlie and Niffty from Valentino, mourns the apparent death of Sir Pentious, and risks his life to save Husk from the uncontrollable train car.

The ongoing controlling and abusive situation he is in with his boss, Valentino, puts him under a great deal of stress at his work, and he is implied to be somewhat traumatized as a result. When being confronted by Valentino, Angel becomes scared and nervous around him due to the abuse he inflicts. Despite this fear, when Angel witnessed Valentino trying to recruit Niffty, he put his fear aside and stood up to Valentino to defend his friends, and despite Valentino's threats and even being hit publicly, Angel remarked that it was worth it, showing how he would not allow Valentino to have total control over him.

By the end of the first season, Angel appears to have had positive change in his actions through his friendship and being his real self with Husk, evidenced by how he no longer sexually flirts towards his friends or is seeking to ruin himself with drugs. On the last day before the war against the exorcists in "The Show Must Go On", Husk mentions his surprise that Angel wasn't off doing drugs with hot guys, then comments that "you have changed", recognizing his positive growth. During his subsequent days at the Hotel, he continued to undergo a major lifestyle change, developing self-respect and partially ceasing to flirt with other people, as well as quitting most drugs, as Charlie mentions in "Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors".

Angel keeps the sin that condemned him to Hell, murdering his own father, hidden from everyone around him, only seemingly opening up about it to Valentino. When Charlie tries to get him to tell her in "Hazbin Hotel: Behind Closed Doors", he puts his walls up and becomes uncomfortable, using her lessen about boundaries to stop the conversation, but when Vox reveals it himself, the traumas of his past corner him, and venting his anger at Charlie when his secrets are exposed. By "Scream Rain", Angel has since given up on his own redemption, calling it a "botched redemption arc" because he now believes redemption is not for people like himself.

In "Curtain Call", after discovering that he had been manipulated by Vox for a long time at the Hotel and strangled Cherri, Angel decided to leave the Hotel as he felt like a danger to his friends, returning to Valentino to keep them safe.
