The Bash Street Kids are a group of mischievous 10-year-old schoolchildren who are in Class 2B of the Bash Street School, a run-down primary school in northern England. The group consists of Danny, 'Erbert, Fatty, Plug, Sidney, Smiffy, Spotty, Toots, Wilfrid and their nemesis/teacher, Teacher. They are the stars of the long-running comic strip "The Bash Street Kids", featured in the British children's comic magazine The Beano.

The kids are a ragtag bunch, each with their own distinct look and personality:

Danny: The leader of the gang. Danny lives for action and adventure, and he's usually the one responsible for devising the kids' pranks and escape routes from school. He's a clever boy, but due to his laziness and short attention span his grades are poor. As the leader, he can occasionally have an inflated ego, which usually has to be deflated by the rest of the gang. He's particularly close to Toots - close enough to label her his second-in-command - but he's often annoyed by Smiffy's stupidity and Spotty's sarcasm. He has spiky black hair, and he typically wears a black jersey(which has a yellow skull and crossbones on the front), blue shorts and a red baseball cap. His full name is Daniel Deathshead Morgan.

'Erbert: Short, round, bald and bespectacled, 'Erbert's known for his extremely bad eyesight, even when he has his glasses on. Him running into walls or other objects while the other kids are going from place to place is a frequent sight. The rest of the gang often have fun swapping his thick-rimmed prescription glasses with other pairs of glasses and seeing the resultant mayhem. Aside from his glasses, he typically wears a white-collared shirt, a black and white tie, a black blazer, and black shorts. His full name is Herbert Henry Hoover.

Fatty: A large, morbidly obese boy who quite literally never stops eating. The other kids occasionally make fun of his weight, but he usually reacts to this with indifference before going right back to eating. Fatty typically wears a yellow jumper, a white shirt, a black and white striped tie, a red blazer, and black shorts. His full name is Frederick Joseph Brown.

Plug: The ugly one(don't say that to his face, though). Plug is a tall, lanky, gangling boy with a large overbite, protruding ears, two buck teeth and a wide nose. Despite his ugliness, he considers himself to be the most beautiful of the kids, and one of his hobbies is looking at himself in the mirror, either not noticing or not caring that said mirror will usually shatter in response. He typically wears a red sweatshirt and black shorts. His full name is Percival Proudfoot Plugsley.

Sidney: Toots' twin brother. Sidney loves animals and has a wide variety of pets, from elephants to mice. He tends to make blunt remarks about the other kids, to the amusement of those around him, although he and Spotty often come to blows whenever the latter is a target. He's also a trickster, with Smiffy as a frequent target of his. He has spiky black hair, and he typically wears a striped long-sleeved black and blue jumper and black shorts. His full name is Sidney Mason Pye.

Smiffy: Dim-witted, absent-minded and slow, Smiffy is by far the dumbest member of the gang. Although he's sometimes very kind and intuitive, his stupidity frequently gets on the nerves of not only Teacher, but the rest of the gang(especially Spotty); in the gang's case, this can lead to physical violence. He also has a very hard head that's capable of shattering brick walls without so much as a scratch on him. He typically wears a yellow sweatshirt, a white collared shirt, a black and white striped tie, and black shorts. His full name is Aristotle John Smith.

Spotty: Bald, short and covered in spots and freckles, Spotty has 976 spots on his face, and he's proud of every single one of them. He's sarcastic, conceited, quick to anger, and protective about his masculinity and height. He typically wears a blue sweatshirt, a white shirt, an extremely long black and white striped tie(which he occasionally uses to help the other kids out of tricky situations), and black shorts. His full name is James Scott Cameron.

Toots: Sidney's twin sister and the only girl in the group. Toots is the gang's second-in-command and will assume leadership whenever Danny isn't around. She's a tomboy, but she does have a few girly interests, such as boy bands. She's tough, sassy and surprisingly good at association football, being better at it than the rest of the gang. She has spiky black hair, and she wears a striped long-sleeved black and blue jumper and a black skirt. Her full name is Sydney Kate Pye.

Wilfrid: The smallest and quietest of the gang. Wilfrid has social anxiety, and he always hides his face in his oversized green jumper; despite this, he's a jolly fellow who's more than willing to commit mischief with the rest of the gang. Nobody knows what his neck looks like, and he probably doesn't, either. He likes turtles, presumably because he resembles a tortoise. He typically wears his trademark green oversized jumper and black shorts. His full name is Wilfrid John Wimble.

Teacher: The Bash Street Kids' long-suffering teacher and nemesis. A middle-aged man with glasses and a mortarboard hat.

The kids are known for their pranks, schemes and general misbehavior, much to the frustration of Teacher and other adult authority figures. Despite being troublemakers, the Bash Street Kids stick together as a tight-knit group of friends, always getting into and out of mischief as a team. Their adventures take place in and around Bash Street School, often involving absurd situations, slapstick comedy and silly puns.
