Heavy chains scraped across polished wood, each metallic rattle echoing through the cavernous auction hall. Their wrists were bound in iron shackles, their shoulders slumped beneath the weight of exhaustion, and their head remained bowed.

They refused to look up.

They refused to acknowledge the hundreds of impeccably dressed buyers seated before them—wealthy men and women who regarded them with detached curiosity, quiet excitement, and cold calculation. To the audience, the chained figure wasn't a person.

Hidden throughout the audience beneath carefully crafted disguises, the Avengers watched in grim silence.

Steve Rogers sat rigidly in his seat, every muscle in his body tense enough to snap. His jaw remained locked so tightly it ached.

A single spotlight snapped on.

"Thirty."

The numbers climbed with terrifying speed.

Bucky's voice came through the team's encrypted communications, barely louder than a whisper.

His breathing remained calm, but everyone recognized the dangerous edge beneath his words.

The quiet whine of his metal arm grew louder.

Steve glanced toward Tony.

Wanda subtly lowered her gaze, already reaching out with her powers, quietly loosening electronic locks, disabling surveillance feeds, and preparing to plunge the room into chaos at a moment's notice.

Thor shifted in his seat, disguising the movement as casual discomfort while positioning himself between several armed guards and the nearest exit.

Loki melted into the shadows near the stage, weaving silent illusions that would soon sow confusion among HYDRA's security.

Peter discreetly raised his sleeve, firing nearly invisible strands of webbing into the rafters above. Escape routes. Trip lines. Insurance.

Tony's HUD flickered to life behind his tinted glasses as he quietly hacked into the auction's internal security network. Every camera feed, every communications channel, every electronic lock now appeared across his display.

Steve inhaled slowly.

One final glance around the room.

Every exit was covered.

Every contingency was accounted for.

The auctioneer lifted his gavel, oblivious to the storm gathering around him.

Steve's voice was calm as it came across the comms.
