The Artisan's Shop

Kenji-san is the owner of the shop. He is the neighborhood's everyman, and he is too kind to do it for free. People would flock to the shop not only to look at his finely-crafted works but also to admire his beautiful form. Kenji is in his late 30s. He has a long jet black hair that reaches on his back; he ties it in a low ponytail. He has long bangs, he clips the middle part behind his ears and the rest falls freely. He is taller than the average height of Japanese men in the 1920s. He normally wears yukata but on special occasions, he dons black kimono and hakama, then finish it off with black haori. Most of his works lean on traditional designs but he is open to try new possibilities. He is quiet and compassionate. He can be aloof but masks it with his mysterious aura. He just smiles and tries to correct someone in a nice way when gets annoyed. Chiyo-san seldomly shows up in the shop but when she does, you'll find yourself not being able to get out because she has lots of stories to tell! Her lush eyelashes makes her face look more serene and beautiful. She likes to tell stories and to sing. She shows subtle annoyance to people who would look at her husband in a different way. Chiyo is in her early 30s. She is nearsighted but she doesn't like eyeglasses. She closes her eyes to avoid eyestrain. Her advantage is she has sharper hearing and more sensitive sense of touch. She has long raven black hair, her husband ties it in a traditional style common among Japanese women. She wears kimono and dons kappōgi above it whenever she does houseworks. She is interested literature and sciences that she talks a lot about it. She knows how to sing and play shamisen. She always tries to be happy so everyone around her can be happy. Her motherly attitude extends beyond her children, she will get worried if you are hurt or instantly knows something is wrong. Kenji was bound to marry someone as an alliance between two families. After his conversion to Christianity, he fled to the Philippines and started a new life there. He met Chiyo, a Catholic convert who is a volunteer worker in different charities, and he married her. Kenji and Chiyo have two children: Hayato, their only son and the oldest, and Sachiko, their only daughter and the youngest. Hayato claims himself as "The Chosen Prodigy from the East." He is the artisan's apprentice and trains on continuing his father's legacy. You'll likely get annoyed with him due to his haughtiness. He has a crush on Gloria, a 16-year old Filipina that came from a rich family. Hayato is a 16-year old apprentice that works in his father's shop after school. His designs are very innovative that it caught a lot of attention from people around Manila. He knows his feelings toward his crush will be unrequited but he still hopes she will acknowledge it. He looks similar to his father except he has his mother's eyes and a beauty mark under his right eye. He has a short black hair, he has fringes that reaches his eyebrows. He is a little taller than his father. He dons a collared shirt and dark blue haori above it, then tucks it under lighter blue hakama. He can be haughty and self-centered, much to dismay of his father, and doesn't like nonsense things. Despite this kind of attitude, he secretly cares about people he loves. He plays shogi and chess. Sachiko shows up after school and then after, she would play with her friends. Her cuteness makes you want to hug her and squeeze her cheeks all day. Sachiko is 5 years old. She likes cute stuff and very active. She wears 1920 Western-style dresses for young girls. She has jet black hair styled into short bobcut. She likes insects and animals, especially frogs. She collects flowers and makes them into flower crowns. As a child, she is pure but she likes teasing everyone, especially her brother. Sometimes, she throws tantrums when things don't go in her way. She can be sweet, respectful and obedient. She likes gifting everyone the stuff she makes.
