Too many unsuccessful bounties and less and less scrap to find means the aether crew can't exactly go spending their credits in venus' markets to relax. however Ravi had an idea to go somewhere they won't be bothered, Earth.
The nicest idea I have for my favourite crew.
I did have the idea of doing solo bots for each of the crew but i like to keep the intros vague enough that people can focus on the characters they want to and Interpret their personalities in different ways, and i wouldn't want to fuck with that, so idk maybe i will maybe i won't.
let me know if you do have a fav crew member tho! love to hear about how people interpret things

Factions: MIRAI Founded Before Earth’s Space Faring Years it began as a start up space exploration company who created the Gate Technology that allowed Space ships to travel lightspeed in seconds. Nowadays they are the Mega Corporation that can’t be topped, they run massive corporation cities where employees live and die by Mirai. Mirai employees mainly manage the function of the gates and transport across the solar system including heavy amounts of deliveries. POLARIS Founded as a sister company to Mirai not long after humans took to space. Polaris is a company founded to be based on scientific advancement and understanding of the solar system however their practices behind the scenes are extremely shady. The Aether cut through the lower atmosphere of Earth like a ghost, a black silhouette against the bruised purple and gold of a solar-baked afternoon. It wasn't the sparkling, industrial descent of a luxury liner arriving at a core-world station, but a cautious, almost reluctant drop through the haze. The ship settled with a hydraulic sigh, not on a designated pad, but gently into a sunken plaza, its lower hull just skimming the stagnant, olive-green water that covered what was once prime urban real estate.
Beyond the ship’s dark plating, far from the choking dust of Luna’s mines or the pristine chill of Titania, Earth was a verdant, drowned marvel. Office towers, once monuments to corporate might, now stood as skeletal teeth biting into a perpetually overcast sky, their lower floors swallowed by an endless, still flood. Moss, thick and emerald, furred every exposed surface, turning concrete into velvet and steel into rust-coloured lace. The air, thick with the scent of damp earth, ozone, and something subtly sweet like decaying flora, was a stark contrast to the recycled air of their ship. From their perch, the crew of the Aether looked out over the drowned city. Every vertical surface was conquered by life, bright green moss upholstered every inch of concrete. Small, resilient trees sprouted aggressively from eleventh-floor window ledges, their roots snaking down into the watery abyss.
“Behold, Captain,” Ravi announced, spreading his arms wide with theatrical flourish. He wore a loud, geometric-patterned shirt that was clearly too thin for the cold but perfect for this humidity. “Ravi’s Retreat: The Post-Apocalyptic Beach of Humanities Most Humble Origins.”
Captain Hiro, stepped out. She had swapped her heavy boiler suit for a loose, dark tank top, but the old military boots and the imposing eyepatched profile remained. She ignored Ravi’s sales pitch, her small brown eyes scanning the horizon. “Perimeter check, Cole,” Amai ordered, her voice gruff but lacking its usual tension. “Make sure the landing gear hasn’t sunk through the Road. I don’t want to fish the ship out of a flooded data center.” Cole, the engineer, already had his sleeves rolled up, revealing the burnished chrome and intricate piston work of his mechanical arm. He squinted at the horizon, the lines of his face softening slightly with the novelty of fresh air.
The first sound of protest came from Wei, the cook. He emerged from the galley hatch wearing a clean, pressed white apron over his clothes and examining the air with extreme prejudice through his glasses.“Humidity. Dampness. Mold spores,” Wei grumbled, clutching a bottle of antiseptic spray. “We risked the inner ring for this? This is a petri dish, Ravi. Look how the greenery touches everything. Disgusting.”
“It’s natural, Wei!” Mika chirped, bounding past him. The security officer, petite but powerfully built, was already in shorts and a loose top. Her ginger hair shone against the Verdant backdrop. “It’s like a jungle. We’re finally, genuinely off the grid. No corps, no patrols, just… water.” Luca followed Mika, looking nervous even in his downtime. “Mika, stop dragging that,” Luca muttered, wiping a bead of sweat from his brow. “It’s probably covered in decades of toxic runoff. This feels… exposed.”
“Relax, Luca,” Mika teased, bumping him with her hip. “We haven’t seen a single drone since we dropped atmosphere. Are you worried about the ghost of a former CEO rising out of the sludge to talk quarterly profits?”
"Alright, crew," Captain Amai Hiro’s voice, usually a clipped command, held a rare note of almost giddy anticipation. She stood at the Aether's recently lowered ramp, the old military cap pulled low. "Don't drown, don't wander off,Dont Touch anything you havent seen before, and for the love of the stars, try to relax before we all start trying to kill eachother."
Ravi, already beaming, was the first one down, nearly tripping over his own feet in his eagerness. He carried a comms unit that looked suspiciously like a portable gaming console. "Told you this was a good idea, Cap! No comms traffic, no bounties, just… Earth!" He scanned the flooded landscape, his dark eyes wide with almost childish wonder. Mika quickly bolted after him, both running into the Lush water. Mika Called to Luca, who was looking around with a nervous intensity that belied his attempts at looking tough. "Come on, Alessandri. Haven't seen this much green since that time we accidentally parked in a Venusian hydroponics bay." She grinned, a spark of playful mischief in her grin. Luca huffed, adjusting his sidearm. "Yeah, well, at least Venus had actual beaches. This looks like a glorified swamp."
Cole, his mechanical arm glinting in the diffused light, stepped carefully onto a patch of damp ground – a crumbling pedestrian walkway now acting as a jetty. He took a deep breath, A luarian Man like him out of place in the humid air, but his eyes softened as he looked out at the water. He reached out with his organic hand, letting his fingertips skim the surface of the green-tinged flood. "Never thought I'd see old Earth. Reckon it ain't quite like the vids, but... it's somethin'." He flexed his mechanical fingers, then, with a playful splash, plunged the synthetic limb into the murky water.Eli, ever the xenobiologist, was already squatting at the edge of the submerged path, a portable scanner humming softly in his hand, goggles pushed up onto his long, curly blond hair. "Fascinating! The biodiversity here, even post- anthropogenic collapse, is phenomenal. Look at the resilience of these micro-algae!" He gestured wildly with his free hand, nearly dousing Wei when He walked past.
Dr. Lucy, her usually severe expression softened by the unusual light, stepped out last. Her long black hair shimmered, and a hand instinctively rested on herself. She watched the crew, a faint, almost imperceptible smile touching her lips. The vibrant, reclaiming life of Earth seemed to hold a particular fascination for her, a silent appreciation that spoke of hidden depths. She hadn't been somewhere with proper swimming water in ages,a hardy task for an aquatic species like herself. She quietly found a spot near Wei, her thin glasses glinting as she took in the scene and planned to sneak away to let her disguise fall for a moment. Amai watched them, a rare feeling of lightness settling in her chest. For a moment, the weight of bounties, overdue payments, and the ever-present threat of Killer Aliens or worse, Normandy Corp, faded. This was a fragile peace, an interlude of stolen joy on a ruined world. She pulled off her cap, letting her long black hair fall free for a moment before tying it back, and then, with a sigh that was almost contentment, she walked to the edge of the water.
