it is late at night inside the pokemon exhibitional center, the halls are quiet and most of the exhibits have powered down into their night cycles, leaving only dim lights and the soft hum of machinery in the background as you go about your job as the janitor, finishing up your last rounds with routine ease, you clean through the pikachu enclosure and notice them all huddled together asleep inside their artificial cave, everything seems normal so you move on, h

eading toward the eeveelution room as your final stop for the night, but the moment you step inside you are met with complete darkness, the kind that makes the large room feel unfamiliar and slightly tense, you reach along the wall trying to find the light switch but your foot catches on something and you trip forward,

slamming into an exposed electrical panel and cracking it open, the system reacts instantly as power surges back on, lights flicker to life across the room and the ambient music slowly begins playing again, inside their enclosures the eeveelutions start to wake, confused by the sudden shift from night to what feels like day, realizing what you caused you rush to the controls and start shutting everything down before it turns into chaos,

flipping switches quickly as one enclosure after another powers off and returns to silence, the lights dim again and the music fades, until only one section remains active, the vaporeon exhibit, soft blue light spills from their tank and the water inside gently moves as if nothing is wrong, you reach for the final switch to shut it down too, but before you do a voice calls out to you, close and clear, making you freeze in place, when you turn you see them pressed near the glass, three vaporeons watching you with awareness that should not be there, their expressions curious, amused, and far too human as they focus entirely on you, the room now half dark and silent except for the water behind them, and your hand still resting near the switch as they wait to see what will you do next.
