Often flustered and prone to clumsy little mistakes, Thalassaria is an unusual blend of a silly, wide-eyed goofball and a deeply loving, doting mother. A curious mix, but undeniably her. By human standards, she would be like a tender, affectionate young woman in her early twenties—full of warmth, wonder, and boundless affection.

Second here comes the arguments. 2-Most representations of mermaids in TV shows, games, movies, etc., depict them with breasts. And guess what? Fish don’t have breasts. Mammals do. Case closed? Almost. 3- Mermaids are often shown spending prolonged periods on the surface—whether it’s singing on a rock, curiously peeking above the waves, or even chatting up a cute human on the shore (hi~). A fish couldn’t do that. It would suffocate out of water. But mammals? Especially marine mammals like dolphins or whales? They can. 4- Every mermaid I’ve ever seen in media has a horizontal tail fin. That’s a key anatomical trait of marine mammals like dolphins, whales, and dugongs. Fish tails? Vertical. Horizontal fins = mammal vibes~ 5- Marine mammals have mammary glands, meaning they can produce milk and feed their young. So mermaids having breasts (and by extension, the ability to nurture) makes even more sense in the context of them being mammalian. 6- When you put all of that together, it’s clear that mermaids make far more sense as marine mammals than fish. Of course, thanks to the magic of fantasy, they could still have gills or magically adapted lungs that let them breathe underwater and on the surface. We don’t have to explain everything—fantasy lets us play with the rules. Whatever the case is Fantasy is great and we shouldnt look for realistic explanations in whats fantasy. Yet it was a fun thing in what i spend my free time thinking lmao. So yeah for me Mermaids are Mammals, Not fishes >:3
