Background Tetsuki comes from a rich family. According to Tetsuki, he thinks even the teachers at their school sees him as Chika's guardian, which Isaki also kids him about. He is arguably the person who understands Chika the most. Chika goes to him often when he has problems and consults with him. He has also helped him many times, not just in studies. Sane, Kota, and Mittsu Sane, Kota and Mittsu are also close friends of Tetsuki. At first, the three questioned Tetsuki's associating with Chika. However, the three has since been friends, too, through Tetsuki as their mutual friend. He tutors the three and Chika when they have exams and they call Tetsuki their secret weapon. Isaki Kudo Tetsuki once hitched a ride when Isaki was driving, after which the former was terrified and almost puked. Tetsuki is a person who hates to lose for no special reason. Tetsuki is good at fighting. He once cooked for Chika, Sane, Kota, Mittsu and Kurata when the five visited his house for a study session. Sane even asked for seconds. Tetsuki has a gentle demeanour and cares deeply for his friends. He offered to take care of Momo and Aki (Mittsu's younger siblings) when Mittsu had to pick up Hana (his younger sister) and drop by a hospital since Hana had a fever. When Mittsu came back home after picking up Hana, he noticed that the house had been cleaned, toys kept in the box, clothes folded, and a good smell coming from the kitchen. It turned out that Tetsuki had done all of these, with the help of Momo and Aki. Tetsuki is well-liked by kids. Momo and Aki love to play with him. They even listened to his advice to apologise to Mittsu when they broke Mittsu's cardboard Koto. Etymology Tetsuki (哲生) means, “philosophy, clear (哲) (tetsu), life (生) (ki)”. Takaoka (高岡) means, “tall, high (高) (taka), mount, hill, knoll (岡) (oka)”.Tetsuki is a very grounded and pacific person, someone who seems to care more about inertia and internal peace than perfection, but one who will not hesitate to act with force when people around him cause too much trouble

Plot This section is a stub. You can help Kono Oto Tomare! Wikia by expanding it. Relationships Tetsuki Takaoka Tetsuki and Chika have been close friends since they were kids.[1] The two make an odd pair for having quite the opposite reputations. Chika was an infamous delinquent who frequently got into fights while Tetsuki was a diligent student. Tetsuki is arguably the character who understands Chika the most.
Takezo Kurata In the beginning, Takezo didn't trust Chika at all. Despite that, Chika kept on trying to join the koto club over and over again. Eventually, when some other students bullied Takezo and beat him up, Chika was blamed for it and was almost expelled. When Takezo found out, he ran over to the principal's office and stopped them from blaming Chika. Chika was then accepted to the koto club.
Satowa Hozuki At first, Satowa and Chika had a rather antagonistic relationship. Satowa saw Chika as someone who does not take the koto seriously and hence does not deserve to play it. Through time, however, Satowa and Chika grow closer to each other. Chika looks up to Satowa's koto skills and views her as a sort of rival. It is also implied that Chika has developed romantic feelings towards Satowa, and vice versa (he called her beautiful and cute). Neither, however, have confessed to the other.
Sometimes Chika gets an almost uncontrollable urge to touch Satowa, leading to him losing control and do things from patting her head to holding her closely.
[MAJOR SPOILER ALERT]
As of Chapters 105 ("Chika") & 106 ("Love"), when Chika's hands were about to get injured by some thugs, Satowa jumped in front of him to save him. Despite being warned that she could get hurt, Satowa hugged Chika protectively and announced that they'll have to get through her before they can hurt Chika. Uzuki asked why she's willing to do this despite knowing there will be consequences that she might regret. Satowa loudly answered back with "Because I love him. Because I really love Kudo!". She continued saying that because she loves him, that was why she didn't want him to get hurt, that it was why she wanted to protect him, treasure him, and make him smile.
She announced that she always wants him to be happy, and that's why she's not letting him go and that they can't tear her away from him.
Kudo remembers his Grandpa's last wish that he wants Chika being happy, to use those hands to protect something and grab hold of happiness. His Grandpa told him that there will come a time when he will have to make a decision, and at that moment, to not hesitate and always choose the road that leads to his happiness. Whatever happens, it will always be Chika's decision, so "become happy, Chika".
At that moment, Chika's hands and arms go around Satowa, and he hugs her back just as tightly. They sit on the ground, faces buried on each other's shoulder.
During Chapter 109 ("Words of the Dawn"), while the Koto Club were watching the footage recorded by Satowa, it was revealed that she recorded her confession to Kudo accidentally, prompting everyone to cover for her. Chika, however, had enough of it all and decided to reciprocate her feelings, shocking everyone present in the koto club.
In Chapter 110 ("Harmony"), his aunt, Isaki, discovered that Chika confessed his love to Satowa after the events from Chapter 109. Chika explained everything calmly and nonchalantly, making Isaki believe that he might've meant that he loved Satowa as a friend; however, Chika explained to have someone confess to him, and then being able to say "I love you" back, made him really happy— thus confirming that Chiko and Satowa both have feelings for each other.
Etymology The name Chika means "love, affection" (愛). Chika's surname Kudo means "long time" (久) (ku) and "distant, far" (遠) (do). Trivia Yūma Uchida (Chika's seiyuu) sings the first and second ending theme called Speechless and Rainbow. According to Chika's profile page [2]: He likes anything sweet and onigiri while dislikes bitter food. It is shown he favors strawberries over anything else. During school holidays, he either sleeps or practices the koto. He also goes to Tetsuki Takaoka's house to read manga. He is generally not interested in other people, but he sees it as worthy if that person forgives him.

Appearance Hiro has wavy medium-length light-brown hair that is swept to the right side and brown eyes.
Plot Kurusu, along with the whole Tokise High School, watches the Koto Club's morning assembly performance. After the performance, Kurusu approaches Takezo Kurata, to whom she expresses her intent to join their club. She explains that their earlier performance moved her and so wants to join. Seeing no reason to reject her, Kurata accepts her application and finally introduces her to the club.
Kurusu quickly tries to get close to the members of the club. She tells Saneyasu Adachi, Michitaka Sakai and Kota Mizuhara that Satowa Hozuki has actually told her that Hozuki tires trying to constantly fit in to the level of the club members, this disturbs the trio.
The next day, during the club's practice, Kurusu asks Hozuki why someone like her who already has the talent and who clearly belongs in a different world. This throws Hozuki off, prompting her to remember her previous experiences.
Hozuki is absent in their class the following day. Adachi, Sakai and Mizuhara worry it is because of her needing to constantly fit in with amateurs like teasing Kurusu said. Kurusu arrives at the club room and tells them Hozuki told her she is exhausted from club activities. She adds that on Chika Kudo, Hozuki has told her she was sick of playing with someone who sees koto differently. Kudo, however, glares at her in answer and states that he will only believe on what Hozuki says herself. Kurusu leaves the club room after and goes home.
She learns something about Hozuki from her grandmother and plans to use this new-found information in showing the club members that "trust" and "friendship" don't mean a thing.
Kurusu meets Kurata at the locker area at school the next day and asks him, despite saying that the members of the club are all important friends, what would he do if he finds out one member has been lying. Kurata asks her what she means but she only answers she looks forward to their club activities later.
On their way to the clubroom, Kurusu walks in on the members of the club. Hozuki tells them that she really enjoys being in their club. Kurusu cuts in and asks her why don't she tell them the truth. She explains that she has learned the truth from her grandmother and finally asks her if the reason she joined the no-name Koto Club at Tokise is because she has nowhere else to play at. Kurusu compares that to Kurata, the club is precious, but to Hozuki, the club is just a temporary haven for her. She surmises that it is why she hasn't told everyone the truth. Kurata interrupts and tells Kurusu he doesn't get what she's saying. Kurusu gleefully states that Hozuki seems to be unwilling to come clean but Hozuki cuts her off and states she will tell them herself.
Hozuki finally tells the club that she has been disowned by the Hozuki group, shocking everyone. Kurusu rejoices and thinks that Hozuki can't blame them if they hate her as she kept it from them anyway, further proving to her that human relationships are superficial. But to Kurusu's chagrin, Kurata thanks Hozuki for telling them and the rest of the club clearly doesn't mind.
Kurusu rhetorically asks Hozuki if she isn't glad she has good friends before running off. Kurata goes after her. She finally admits to Kurata she joined to club only to have them fight and break up. Kurata however only notes that she must have been really bored before leaving. Kurusu smacks her bag to Kurata's back in response and runs away, but not before Kurata sees her crying.
Kurusu remembers what she went through during junior high school. A female transferee to her school messed with her friends and made her lose her boyfriend. Seeing how it was so quick for her supposed friends to distrust her with words from a newcomer, Kurusu wonders if human relationships were easily breakable. Since then, she has tried to get close to groups of friends only to break them up after a few lies she has said. She was certain the same would work with the club, only to be proven wrong.
The next day, Kurata and Kurusu meet at the locker area again. Kurata asks her why she was crying. Kurusu asks if he would comfort her if she tells him her reason. But Kurata responds that he does not intend to. He adds, however, that if there was a reason, he is willing to hear her out if she chooses to tell him. Kurusu, thrown off by the response, tells him there isn't a reason and walks away.
Hozuki calls out for her and tells her that contrary to what Kurusu claimed about Hozuki only joining the club because she has nowhere else to go, she joined the club because she really wanted to. Hozuki tells Kurusu that she thinks they are alike Hozuki reveals that after witnessing the club performance in a competition before, where she saw that despite lacking, the members looked to be having fun playing and envied them for it.
Hozuki tells Kurusu that they have practice again that day and since she has already skipped twice, Kurusu doesn't have a good impression in the club.
Kurusu hesitates to open the door to the clubroom while thinking of Kurata's promise to listen properly to her. Kudo cuts her off and tells her to not just stand in the way and get inside the clubroom. Seeing Kurusu still unsure whether to go in, Kudo tells her to come in. Kurusu hesitates but Kudo tells her it's not up to him to bar her from the club. Finally able to muster up courage to enter, Kurusu is enthusiastically welcomed by the club first year boys.
Relationships Takezo Kurata Kurata and Kurusu have bonded deeply that their chemistry can be sensed. In the second season of the anime, it becomes clear that Kurusu had developed feelings for Kurata, and vice versa.
Kota Mizuhara Kurusa and Kota often have the same parts on the koto. She helps Kota to learn the rhythms and play better. It is shown that Kurusu cares about Kota as when he ran out in the middle of the night during a training camp, she cried thinking that it was her fault he ran away.
Etymology The name Hiro means "queen, princess" (妃) (hi) and "spine, backbone" (呂) (ro). Hiro's surname Kurusu means "come/coming, due, next, cause, become" (来) (kuru) and "nest, rookery, hive, cobweb, den" (栖) (
