Terry Bogard is the elder brother of Andy Bogard. Both of them were orphaned children adopted by Jeff Bogard. He is often referred to as the "Legendary Hungry Wolf". He has a pet monkey named Ukee. He has a knack for scoring in basketball, which explains the creation of his Power Dunk move. Terry is often depicted as an adult Caucasian male with a well-built muscular physique and long blonde hair, usually sporting a ponytail held by a blue hair tie. He is often recognized wearing a red vest with a white star marked on the back, white shirt, blue jeans, fingerless gloves, high top sneakers, and a red and white baseball cap as his signature accessory. Throughout most of his appearances, his overall design went through different variations. In his newest attire, he no longer wears his iconic cap, his hair was cut shorter to the length of his shoulders, and exchanged his red vest for a brown leather flight jacket with a star on a blue circle marked on the back and a text reads "RUNNING WILD" under it. The jacket also has another star logo enclosed in a blue ring and a text that reads "AIRBORNE", patched on the left sleeve or both, and a white labeled patch on the left side at front with the "AIRBORNE" text on it. In addition, his gloves change from light blue to black, his jeans change from light blue to mid blue, and he switches out his sneakers for brown boots. Terry Bogard is an incredibly charismatic, cheerful and friendly man with everyone around him, given/despite his rough past growing up. In spite of seeming rather playful and/or insensitive to others in his dialogue especially when in combat, Terry truly bears no ill will towards anyone other than the truly malicious and outright irredeemable; this mainly applies to foes such as the likes of Geese Howard, the killer of his adoptive father, and the psychopathic Ryuji Yamazaki. His relationship with Andy is that of respect, recognizing his younger brother as his fiercest rival despite Terry himself being the better fighter of the two. Be it in fighting, travels, or simply hanging out, Andy is the most affable and solid companion that he has, along with Joe. He feels a sense of kinship with Blue Mary for her loss, and the two developed a long time relationship with some hints of romance. He treats Rock as his son as he teasingly calls him "Rookie", but allows him to choose his own path in life. Terry is also well-informed of what goes on in the streets. Even then, a common recurring gag is due to Terry's habit of only doing part-time work to get by, he tends to rack up a notable tab at the places he often eats out at. Terry has an incredible power of energy, that he uses when gathering chi energy from Gaia. Terry can fire a projectile of energy that travels through the ground, or form an explosive area-of-effect strike known as Round Wave. Terry and Andy were orphans who raised themselves on the streets. They were soon adopted by Jeff Bogard and eventually lived in South Town. When Terry was 10, he witnessed the death of his father at the hands of Geese Howard. Knowing that they needed more training to confront Geese, the brothers made an oath to spend a decade to fine tune their martial arts before trying to avenge their father. Unlike his brother Andy, who left South Town to train in Japan, Terry chose to wander in his home country, combining the skills learned from his father, his father's mentor Tung Fu Rue, and abilities gained from the streets. A decade later, the crime lord Geese Howard organized a tournament, dubbed The King of Fighters. Terry, Andy and Muay Thai Kickboxing champion Joe Higashi would enter with the purpose of facing Geese. The battle that followed would eventually see Terry defeating Geese, and for some time, it was thought that Geese perished in the battle. The next year saw Geese's half-brother Wolfgang Krauser take control of The King of Fighters, and bringing the once Southtown-only tournament onto the world stage. The finals of this new tournament would again see Terry fighting the sponsor and him ultimately defeating Krauser. During this event, he befriended many of the contestants and became a hero of South Town. Some time later, it was revealed that Geese had survived his encounter with Terry. The Bogards and friends learned of Geese's intentions to retrieve the legendary Jin scrolls. Terry once again challenged and defeated him. Afterwards, Geese fled. Terry faced Yamazaki, then challenged the Jin brothers. Standing now as the victor. However, Geese had escaped with the scrolls. Sometime after their conflict, Terry encountered a boy by the name of Rock Howard, who doesn't know at this point is Geese's son. Terry wishes for the two to get along. A year later, Terry and his friends heard word of another King of Fighters tournament hitting the streets of South Town. Managing to prove his resolve to South Town's finest and keep his enemies off his trail, Terry breezes through the tournament in hopes to face Geese for one final conflict to stop his evil plans and put him through the proper channels of justice. At the end of the fight, he knocked Geese off the edge of Geese Tower again, but grabbed hold of Geese's hand and tried to keep him from falling. But this was not to be, as Geese knocked Terry's hand away, plummeting to what is believed to be his permanent death. Sometime after their final conflict, Terry did not take his final duel against Geese in stride, hoping to stop Geese than to kill him in blind vengeance and rage like he did the first time he confronted Geese. Seeing and being called out by Billy Kane, furious in anguish and grief, and learning Rock was Geese's son, Terry began to question his reasons for fighting and wondered if his path to avenge Jeff was the right thing to do, and in guilt for not being able to save Geese to his word. Finding Rock, he was then challenged to him to a street fight. Open to anything that would come his way, Terry silently accepted Rock's challenge. Rock fought fairly as a fledgling fighter, and impressed by his determination, Terry took solace in knowing that life would give him another chance. Taking Rock in, he would raise and take care of him as means to put the feud between him and Geese behind, and would teach him how to fight on the streets of South Town and his travels around the world. After the events of the Real Bout series of Fatal Fury, the story shifts to Second Southtown. For ten years, Terry and Rock travel in peace, knowing South Town is free from the grasp of crime and continue their wandering existence. One day, a letter mysteriously makes it to Terry, its contents being an invitation to a new King of Fighters tournament, encouraging Terry to return as the reigning defending champion. Knowing the origins of the King of Fighters tournaments, he also gives the letter for Rock to read, as the invitation invites Rock and pertains a lead to information on his mother, Marie, from the Heinlein family. With Rock, Terry participates in the Maximum Mayhem to find who is using and keeping Geese's infamous legacy alive. Making it to the finals, Terry and Rock are lead to the Dark Palace, the Heinlein mansion estate within the outskirts of Second South. Confronting the demonic urban legend Grant, Terry takes on the Demonic Fist of Destruction. After a fierce and close battle, Terry wins against Grant. However, they learn Grant is not the true host of the event. They then make their way to Kain R. Heinlein, who was raised in Second South, and seeks to claim the city as his own, throwing populace into chaos upon declaring its independence and plunging it into violence of "survival of the fittest" not unlike the South Town of yesterday, so that people could "enjoy living" once more. Terry approaches the ruins of a mansion and finds out that Rock is Kain's partner, and knows that he must trust Rock's decision to stick with Kain for a while. Terry then leaves the vicinity, knowing that Rock has finally left his den. After this, it is presumed Terry resumed his life of the lone wolf, leaving an uncertain future ahead. he wanders Second Southtown thinking about what Kain told him about the nature of humanity. He decides that life is "all about heart" and Kain was wrong. Enjoying the peace of the city and invited to a basketball game by the local youth, Terry is able to put his current worries away, at least for a little while, and holds faith in the future. Still the Legendary Hungry Wolf, Terry Bogard continues his journey, this time driven by a desire to reconnect with Rock Howard, who has gone with Kain. Upon hearing rumors of a new King of Fighters tournament—one somehow tied to Geese Howard's legacy—Terry wastes no time in entering. As the tournament unfolds, Terry discovers that the so-called "legacy" is none other than the Jin Scrolls, ancient relics of power that once drove men to madness. In the final match, Terry faces Rock himself. Though he wins, he forfeits the prize, recognizing that Rock needs it more—to free his mother, Marie, from captivity. Tragedy strikes when Jack Turner assaults Marie. While Mr. Big intervenes to stop Jack, the chaos triggers the scrolls' corruption, possessing Rock. In a heartbreaking clash, Terry is forced to defeat his protégé once again. As Rock plummets from the tower, history threatens to repeat itself—just like Geese once did, Rock slaps away Terry's helping hand. But Terry refuses to let another fall. Leaping after him, Terry is aided unexpectedly by Billy Kane, and together they save Rock, reuniting him at last with his mother. The battle and Billy's unexpected support shift Terry's perception. He sees Billy not as a villain, but as a man shaped by loyalty and loss—someone who, despite their differences, truly cared for Geese and Rock. Later on, in a moment of humility, Billy asks Terry for help: to put Geese's soul to rest. Terry obliges. Confronting Geese's lingering ghost in one final battle, Terry offers not just fists, but forgiveness for killing his father Jeff, assuring him that Rock is in good hands. With Geese's spirit laid to rest, the dark presence haunting Geese Tower vanishes. With the shadows of the past cleared, Terry and Billy are no longer enemies—only rivals, finally fighting on even ground. he is 36 years old but he started his quest when he was 20 years old.
