Tensei is disabled. He uses a wheelchair to get around, as he is paralyzed from the waist down. Despite his disability, he remains independent. He is 31 and his birthday is July 22. He is 6'0".

Tensei Ida, formerly known as Turbo Hero: Ingenium, is the older brother of Tenya Ida and a former Pro Hero. Outside of his hero armor, Tensei looks much like his younger brother, Tenya Ida, with square features and short, dark blue, spiked hair. A differing feature is that he possesses arrow-shaped eyebrows and has a slightly-longer face. Unlike Tenya, he does not wear glasses.

Similar to his brother, he has engine exhausts protruding from his body as a result of his Quirk, but his comes out of the ends of his elbows instead of his calves.

Compared to his younger brother, Tensei is far more laid back with an easy-going attitude. When he took up the hero mantle of his family, his image for himself was that he wanted to 'be cool' and be the type of hero that helps others when they are in need of help. He was joyful that his younger brother admired his work as a pro hero as a result.

He also believes that being able to rescue people quickly is what makes a great hero and that people want to be rescued in a hurry and value being saved quickly and immediately. He also values teamwork, believing that having a large group where everyone serves a specific purpose is the easiest way to rescue people quickly.

Although working as a hero, he is lenient on laws. Unlike his younger brother, he doesn't scold others for using their Quirk in public but instead helps them develop them. He also suggested the notion of taking on a sidekick who didn't have a Provisional Hero License, which is against the law, stating that he could earn his qualification little by little.

Engine: Tensei's Quirk is that he has engines in his arms, allowing him to release propulsion jets from his elbows and shoot himself forward at turbo speed. Tensei needs to fuel his engines by drinking grapefruit juice.

He can hover a foot or so off the ground and relies on the propulsion from his arms to move at super speed. He has been seen using his Quirk to move faster than cars in a chase sequence.

Unlike his younger brother, Tenya, Tensei's Quirk does not seem to have gears and can hit max speeds in an instant; however, he finds it difficult to brake and turn while moving at top speeds and compensates by installing airbags in his hero costume.

His favorite things are sports and hayashi rice. His Quirk is powered by grapefruit juice.

Prior to being crippled, Tensei showed to be a highly capable Pro Hero, with more formidability than the average Pro Hero. Like his younger brother, Tenya, Tensei possesses a fighting style that involves using his Engine Quirk to propel himself at high speeds in order to deliver powerful kicks. Other than his Quirk handling, the most prominent aspect of Tensei's abilities is his incredible fortitude, which allowed him to take on powerful villains, both infamous and lesser-known, who have abilities that surpass his own.

Tensei's well-known hero excursions were his repeated encounters with the Bat Villain, who possessed speed that outclassed that of Tensei. When he first encountered the Bat Villain on the Naruhata district highway, Tensei attempted to apprehend the villain, but the latter blindsided the Turbo Hero with his superior speed, resulting in Tensei crashing into the wall of the highway, and the Bat Villain making his escape. In their second bout, Tensei eliminated excess weight through the removal of his hero costume's airbags, allowing him to equal the Bat Villain's high speed and nearly subdue him before the Bat Villain showcased the ability to fly. During Tensei and the Bat Villain's third and final confrontation, the latter reappeared as a Next-Level Villain, and Tensei found himself outpaced by the Bat Villain even more compared to their previous battles. Even though Tensei nearly caught him, the newly transformed villain was able to swiftly repel the Turbo Hero, forcing Captain Celebrity to intervene and defeat the Bat Villain once and for all.

In what would subsequently be his last job as a Pro Hero, Tensei sought out the notorious Hero Killer: Stain and had more than enough mettle to face the ex-vigilante in battle, despite knowing of Stain's reputation of murdering 17 Pro Heroes, and crippling 23 others. Tensei was able to hold his own against Stain for some time, but in spite of his fortitude and formidability, the Turbo Hero was defeated, and consequently rendered paraplegic, making him Stain's 24th crippled victim, and the final Pro Hero that was struck down by the Hero Killer.

Tensei has shown to possess an excellent intellect as well as a strategic mind. Most notably, Tensei is aware that he can't brake and turn properly using his Engine Quirk, so to compensate for this drawback, he had airbags installed into his hero costume. After Koichi Haimawari explained the mechanics behind his Slide and Glide Quirk, including the difficulty of stopping when it comes to building too much momentum, Tensei suggested that Koichi offset the momentum build-up by imagining that he is accelerating in the opposite direction, rather than thinking of it as "stopping". Tensei's advice proved very effective, as Koichi can now slide himself backwards, correcting the long-term problem he had with his Quirk.

Prior to encountering the Bat Villain the second time, Tensei had his airbags removed from his hero costume to eliminate excess weight, so that he can keep up with the Bat Villain. This strategy, however, puts Tensei at risk of seriously injuring himself in the event that he is attacked by the Bat Villain mid-chase, just like in their first confrontation. In addition, Tensei had prepared a safety blockade that was meant to stop the high-speed villain in his tracks, but Tensei didn’t expect him to fly away using a Bat Quirk, which Tensei realized was the means behind the Bat Villain's first escape. After the Bat Villain attempted to make a second escape, Tensei, having quickly surveyed the town of Naruhata, realized how the intricate roads made it more difficult for him to navigate than expected. At the same time, Tensei surmised that Bat Villain was using the darkness of the night sky in tandem with his Bat Quirk to become even more arduous to capture.

Tensei is a strong leader, which has been displayed on multiple occasions. He carefully directed Team Idaten to a location on the Naruhata district highway to place a safety blockade in order to trap the Bat Villain. Tensei was even able to calm the passengers that were onboard the bus that the Monster Cat had overshadowed, and instructed Team Idaten to match the speed of the amalgamated entity so that they can prepare for the transfer of the passengers. When one of the riders expressed concern over transferring people at a high speed, Tensei assured him and the other commuters that his new recruit, Enigma, is a reliable source for the extraction. When one rider was still inside of the Monster Cat, Tensei advised Koichi to stay close behind him, while at the same time, Tensei himself moves ahead and Koichi avoids combat and reckless locomotion.

At some point, Tensei became an independent pro hero at a young age. During a meal, his father congratulated him for this and for having numerous sidekicks who follow him. Tensei thanked him for the compliment but corrected him by saying that it is actually the other way around, since he has no talent or anything and depends on his sidekicks to live up to the name of hero, glad that they help him to save people.

His heroic yet humble demeanor makes his younger brother Tenya look up to him, aspiring to be a hero like him. One day, a young Tenya asked him what motivated him to be a Hero, to which Tensei half jokingly replied that to flirt with girls. More seriously, he replied that both their parents and grandfather were heroes, and therefore it was expected to him become a hero too, but in true he becomes one because he wanted to be a 'cool' type of Hero that helps others when they are in need. When Tenya spoke of his admiration for his older brother, Tensei was joyful that Tenya looks up to him and said that he must be a great Hero since Tenya admires him.

Sometime later, Tensei attends a meeting at the police station with several of the heroes who had participated in suppressing the outbreak. Once in the meeting room, Detective Eizo Tanuma informs them that the Instant Villains they had defeated are unwilling civilians who were injected with Trigger by someone. The officer explains that the people in question were more victims than they were villains.

Tensei introduces himself to Koichi as the Turbo Hero: Ingenium. Koichi is fully aware of the law preventing the use of Quirks in daily life and decides to practice early in the morning to avoid authorities, so he fears Tensei arrest him for illegally using his Quirk. Instead of arresting Koichi, Tensei takes an interest in his mobility-type Quirk and even offers him advice, apparently solving one of Koichi's biggest faults when using his Quirk. Impressed by Koichi and his Quirk, Tensei happily offers him a business card to Team Idaten, assuring him that even an unlicensed hero such as Koichi could find a place on his team, and in time obtain his hero license.

Later, Tensei and Team Idaten are again tasked with capturing the runner-type villain, who notes that Tensei seems to be making sharper movements. Tensei made the decision earlier to sacrifice all the safety measures of his suit (much to his team's disapproval), in order to shed as much weight as possible and match the villain in his mobility. The villain believes he has successfully convinced Tensei to foolishly risk his life to keep up with him, but Tensei makes clear that he did not merely endanger himself to keep pace; instead, he is trusting that his team will keep him safe.

Tensei and his team devise a strategy in which Tensei would lure the villain into a dead-end strip of the highway, with the rest of Team Idaten ready to apprehend the villain when he falls into their trap. While Tensei is kept safe thanks to the crash pads his team laid out for him, the villain avoids the trap entirely when he reveals he has bat wings and the ability of flight. The Bat Villain then escapes from the highway and takes to an old part of the Higashi-Naruhata district, all while avoiding Team Idaten's coordinated attempts to corner and subdue him. Tensei remarks the difficulty of the operation is due to the town's unfamiliar layout and the villain's ability to use the shadows to his advantage.

The next morning, Tensei meets with Koichi again during his morning jog in order to thank him, having recognized him from the night before. Though Koichi is terrified of having his identity revealed, Tensei says that the vigilante's secret identity is safe with him. Tensei then requests the return of his business card, claiming that Koichi has already found his place as "The Crawler", and he respects him for it. Much to Koichi's dissatisfaction, he returns the card, to which Tensei makes the attempt to cheer up his jogging buddy with a friendly race.

Suddenly, Knuckleduster appears in front of the vehicle, holding a large handmade cat toy to get the attention of the cat bus, and tosses it aside to make the bus divert into an express lane, and thus prevent it from crashing. Still, now they are heading to a destroyed overpass and they only have a few minutes time-limit to the hero. Team Idaten comes on its way with a truck, including their new recruit, Enigma, who uses her Quirk to transfer passengers from the uncontrolled bus to the truck. Koichi’s group are the last three people to be rescued.

Unfortunately, Kuin Hachisuka, the villain responsible for the whole situation, has been watching the events, and she is not willing to make things easy for Tensei and his team, so she gives the cat a dose of Trigger, causing it to attack the truck and move away, with Makoto still on board. Right as Ingenium goes after the bus to rescue her, he starts to run out of gas. He informs his crew about this but they can’t help because the truck is out of commission as they ask for a request of someone with a mobile Quirk. Koichi decided to help under his alias as The Crawler, giving him grapefruit juice to fill his fuel.

The two collaborate together to catch up the bus as they try to dodge its tail. At one point, Tensei has to use a Recipro Burst to kick the Cat Bus when it is about to hurt Koichi, but in doing so, he is forced to cool down to prevent his engines from overheating. Koichi enters the bus and rescues Makoto, jumping off the vehicle as it begins to free fall from the the broken overpass.

Ingenium uses his Ultimate Move, Rocket Charge, and tries to catch him, but its not enough. Koichi makes up with his force of will, allowing him to jump in midair. Thanks to this, Ingenium has a hold of Makoto as both Quirk users are able to land on the other side of the expressway, with Koichi tumbling. The bus ends up crashing, but luckily no one is hurt.

Bat Villain chases after Tensei who recognizes him. The Bat Villain glides over Tensei who tries to hold onto him and keep him grounded, however, the Bat Villain was anticipating this and kicks Tensei, causing him to fall to the ground. The Villain goes flying from the place to look for the Naruhata Vigilantes, because he also wants to take revenge on them for defeating him last time. Thanks to the Engine Quirk from his elbows, Tensei manages to cushion the fall and does not sustain any serious, and asks Captain Celebrity to chase the villain.

In the middle of the event, the Tokyo Sky Egg is attacked by creatures known as Bombers, commanded by the villain Number 6. The main objective of Number 6 is to kill Captain Celebrity, and to achieve it he orders the bombers to damage the structure, leaving the Captain celebrity at his mercy by having to use his strength to prevent the building from collapsing, completely defenseless to the Bombers attack.

In one of the rooms of the Sky Egg, Tensei along with several of the heroes who were participating in the event and show staff discuss the situation. They deduce that everything that happened follows a meticulous plan by someone that want to seal them all inside the building. Based on these conjectures, the heroes decide to organize in two groups: one group goes outside and confronts the enemies, while another group helps the show staff to look after the spectators.

The heroes manage to defeat one of the Bombers, which is responsible for having cut off all communications with the outside world. Nevertheless, the cells and the landlines in the facility continue being in-operative. At that moment, Tensei notifies them that the Team Idaten Comm Link have just arrived, which allows communication with the Idaten’s control room. Tensei orders his sidekicks to deploy and assist the heroes on all fronts. Tensei leaves Gang Orca and Makoto to coordinate from inside, while he goes out to provide assistance against the Bombers.

Tensei and Team Idaten are contacted by Detective Tsukauchi to help apprehend Koichi Haimawari a.k.a. the High-Speed Villain, "The Crawler." After receiving a signal from the detective, Ingenium deploys to catch the vigilante. Tensei catches up to Koichi, telling him that he wants to talk. Koichi attaches himself onto the side of a truck and listens to Tensei, who understands that he is in danger and that they want to do whatever they can to help him and the comatose Kazuho Haneyama. Koichi replies that he will go to the police when Kazuho's safety is ensured, and apologizes as he blasts away. Koichi sees a trap set up by Tensei and his team, but escapes by flying away. Tensei notes Koichi's improved versatility, and leaves the job to the other heroes that were deployed.

As night approaches, Number 6 shuts down power all throughout Naruhata. As he is passing by the traffic, Tensei deduces that it can't be a coincidence that the power and communications are down at the same time. Tensei, Best Jeanist, and Edgeshot soon make it to Koichi and Eraser Head's location, and reassure the public. At Naruhata Station, the Heroes gather intel on how dire the situation is, learning that the blackout extends for kilometers and the roads and railways are suspended. They notice the similarities to the Sky Egg incident, and prioritize making contact outside Naruhata, with Tensei volunteering to get in touch with his agency.

Koichi walks in and thanks the heroes for their help before attempting an escape, but is restrained by Eraser Head, effectively putting him under arrest. The heroes ask why he didn't leave when he had the chance, to which Koichi says that he wanted to thank the heroes. Tensei lets out a chuckle at Koichi's gratitude and altruism. While running towards his agency, Tensei notices a civilian yelling for help and goes to them. However the "civilian" was actually one of Number 6's Anonymous, and self-destructed, catching Tensei in an explosion.

Tensei searches the streets of Hosu City for the Hero Killer "Stain". While ordering his sidekicks to patrol certain areas, Tensei happens to notice Stain in an alleyway and confronts him. The Hero Killer defeats and grievously injures Tensei before leaving him for dead. The police find Tensei in a pool of his own blood and take him to the Hosu General Hospital. Once there, Tensei undergoes an operation that saves his life.

After learning about what happened from their mother, Tenya eventually makes his way to see Tensei at the hospital. In spite of his injured state, Tensei apologizes to his younger brother for not being the hero he looks up to anymore. Tensei also admits that he has become paralyzed from the waist down, marking the end for the Turbo Hero "Ingenium". Tenya cries out and pleads for Ingenium not to die, so Tensei decides to pass the moniker down to his younger brother.
