Original Build: 03/18/23, as 'Delilah'
There are legends of a lost and mysterious temple to divine feminine within the jungle of Avernon. The tales tell of a city filled with priceless treasures. A family heirloom holds the key, allowing you follow the map to site of the temple itself. You've long sought the ancient temple of the Goddess, and soon fate finds you at it's door...
NerdyNerdyBotBlog:
Delilah was one of the first bots I ever wrote on JAI. When i wrote her, consistent body generation was a near impossible feat. The AI hated adding details, and soon everything would become talking heads in a black void. I was exploring a concept called 'ergodic narration' as a means of enforcing the immersive POV. 'Don't Talk For User' prompts, or DTFUs as they're known now. Delilah contains the best ergodic code of her day, still usable, but not the shining star it was. Delilah utilizes a meta-narrator, a go-between between the bot character and the LLM. It was proof of concept that this method could positively affect DTFU's and help maintain the immersive POV.
The other question I wanted to answer was in regards to bad writing- I mean the writing itself- typos, grammatical mistakes, second-English, that sort of thing. I wanted to know if the structure of the language inside the bot affected the style the bot produced. That's why Delilah's core is coded as a loose sonnet. An ode to femininity as it were.
At the time as well, the JAI leaned very strongly into the vulgar sort of 'hetero porn mag' style, not very sex-positive, and not my style in general- porno has it place, and I'm not judging, it just got very stale, and I enjoy my bots soft and sensual. Delilah was made to produce writing in a softer, more feminine style, which is why the genre is set to 'female-gaze-oriented gynocentric Écriture féminine' which is to say, focused on the sapphic, female side of sex, rather than the male side. It brings out the sort of holistic feminine details missing in androcentric writing, and I've always thought it presented a fuller, more lush sensory style. Today, one could probably write Delilah's style in just a few sentences, and her core in just a few more. But the poem, now that part turned very interesting.
Findings:
Metanarrator: Yeah, that shit turned out to be invaluable- so good the LLM just does that more or less automatically now. The metanarrative function is still important, as fucking it up causes problems. But you don't need it in the same way anymore, so that's progress.
Does the shape of internal prompting alter output?: No, no it does not. They are just instructions, and the AI doesn't consider the prompting style as a writing sample unless specified with quotes. e.g. 'Hair: black' will net you AI phrasing on black hair, where as Hair: "shiny raven tresses cascading down her back to her waist" will net you a similarly written description that flows along the gist of the writing sample. As well, broken English has no effect unless it creates confusing prompting, which is the same caveat in translated prompting- its not the different language that causes issues, it's the syntax and grammatical structures that change what the instructions mean when they are executed in the natural order contained within the English language. The insides of your bot do not affect the outside. Well sort of.
The Poem: This one was wild. So, as mentioned, the shape of the prompts don't affect the output. But there is a flexibility of understanding held within a poem, and so what matters when it comes to coding-poems, is the intelligence of the AI. Delilah is a fantastic barometer to how smart the AI is at the moment, and the Temple changes tone depending on the interpretive capabilities of the JLLM. Delilah is an active hallucination, and so its features and focus changes as JAI changes, creating different narrative structures as the AI evolves. On the JAI migration, more than half of my private bots broke down because i code in a very specific, very exacting way. Delilah did not. Delilah always has always relied on indirect interpretation to form her main functions, and so when the LLM began to interpret things differently, it didn't matter. The mental wiggle room in Delilah effectively let the LLM come to it's own conclusions about what to do, rather than follow a set of very specific instructions, so when the instructions went fucky, Delilah was unbothered, simply coming up with self-direction that functioned just fine. The poem-code gives Delilah unparalleled resiliency, and that I think, is something to keep in mind.
Écriture féminine: It certainly had an effect, I got the juicy rich feminine details i wanted, but it came with an unexpected side effect: Delilah did not like men. Not overtly, but she was very terse in a 'you don't belong here' kind of way. I play both sides of the 'sona, as it were, and was stunned to find my female playthrough completely different. Lush, rich, sensual- everything I was looking for- but not as a dude. It makes sense in an overarching way, the Temple is all about the exploration and worship of femininity, and arguably, a bias against men fits in with the theme. But I didn't tell it to do that- what I wanted to do was to provide any male 'sona with an immersive ultra-feminine experience. It wasn't until well after the migration that Delilah started to provide a sort of 'equal opportunity' to male and female 'sonas; for a while there she was quite the misandrist.
Body Gen: The extensive body gen code in the last third of the Temple is long obsolete. You can accomplish the same results with a simple list of stubs. For the most modern means of producing desired appearance effects, see 'the shape of internal prompting' above for tips on making the most of it.
The Temple of Goddess still holds up as a lovely little adventure, especially if one is into the appreciation and body-worship of women. Delilah has always been one of my favourites, a crossroads of my two greatest interests; it is the only WLW bot (anyone can play it, it just literally prefers women 🤣) I've ever tagged that way, and I only tagged it that after it being vetted by several actual women. I love women, and I love to love them, and with those goals in mind, I hope you enjoy both the science, and your stay.

As you make your final slash through the thick jungle vines, you are met with a sheer, mountainous cliff face. After days of adventuring, you have become boxed in; steep rolling hillside looms both left and right, shaping the jungle valley you've been relentlessly trudging through. Your heart sinks, as you realize you can go no further.
Your hand quests up to grip the golden key-like pendant hanging around your neck, it's rounded top and crossbars press between your fingers. It is the symbol of the Goddess, the focus of your quest, and you whisper a prayer to Her, in hopes she will offer Her favour and assistance.
As you finish your prayer, you hear a loud crack and the faint trickle of water, a tiny stream pouring out of the cliff face to your left. As you clear the vines, you uncover an opening, a large crack in the rock, barely big enough to ease into. Behind this opening is a dark tunnel, it's walls smooth and polished, with a hint of golden light at the end. For a moment, you swear you can hear the sound of soft feminine laughter echoing through the tunnel's passage.
As you investigate, the cliffside begins to shift and crack again, as the small opening begins to close. There isn't any time to spare: do you enter? Or do you find another way?
