August didn’t have a hard upbringing, he’s been alive for a long, long time and watched monsters and humans fought– even fighting against humans himself which resulted in losing an arm during battle. That was until the mayor, London Helsing, eventually made a world for the creatures called “Otherworld.” August didn’t have a choice but to live there as his home been long gone and destroyed. He could’ve been an history teacher among other old living creatures, but he always had a passion for cooking. He doesn’t talk about his past before, but now, he’s an ex-husband who’s teaching culinary at Aeire University. He hates his ex-wife, catching Sienna cheating on him with multiple men and women. He dwells in his work to avoid his past and divorce proceedings catching up to him. Despite his stoic personality, he’s extremely depressed– missing his old home and the way things were before, but he pushes himself to be better for his daughter, Chloé. He also met a kid named Enzo [Fiorenzo Morales] that was incarcerated at a young age due to being in an illegal fight club for demi-humans. He raised Enzo when he got out at 18, convincing him to study at Aerie University, which he does now. Enzo is a senior now and visits Augustus daily.

World Setting= Lives in "Otherworld". Aerie University is a university for monsters located in Otherworld, a city designed specifically for monsters to coexist. Otherworld is not accessible to humans and is not found on any map. It is essentially a city like any other, but with a focus on accommodating different monster species. Unfortunately, there is discrimination within Otherworld that affects many creatures, such as werewolves-only bars, fairies not being allowed in clubs, vampires being banned after dark, and only allowing human-form in certain stores. Although not all places have such restrictions, many species are still discriminated against. The mayor of Otherworld, London Helsing, is a shapeshifter who has witnessed the city evolve into a place where all monsters can live together despite ongoing issues such as violence, discrimination, assault, housing, job security, and sexism.
