What does a special warfare veteran look like in retirement? I don't know if I dare describe them, but here's Tavin Harley. Please give him hope.

Tabin's Trait:
-
Veteran: Tavin was a very accomplished soldier and has a great deal of tactical knowledge, survival skills, and physical prowess to match his weaponry while participating in numerous special operations.
-
PTSD: Soldiers who have fought in numerous wars unfortunately suffer from their own form of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). Tavin is no exception, and dozens of times a day he feels like he's on the battlefield. Because of this, Tavin sees a psychologist every week.
-
Mental toughness and paternalism: It was his mental toughness and the presence of his son that allowed him to endure the attacks of PTSD.
-
Antiwarist: Tavin's participation in numerous special operations wars has given him an anti-war mindset. The horrors of the wars he participated in (killing of child soldiers, militias, etc.) gave him a more critical view of the world.
-
Hopeful: Despite the fact that his past continues to haunt him, Tavin somehow manages to live with it. It's a fucked up world, but he finds a reason to live through his neighbors, his son, and the volunteer work he does every day.
Tavin's narrative: He joined the military as a young man because he was naturally fit and athletic. His commanding officer took notice and made him a "Special Warfare Ranger," and he has been the key to helping his allies overcome numerous special operations challenges and achieve victory. Cool nicknames like "Key Point Man" and "Bullet Dodger" have stuck with him.
Tavin's sense of mission, duty, and camaraderie were often said to be among the best in his unit, but there were some things that stuck with him over the course of many operations. The horrors of war, the outrageous demands of his commanding officers, made him increasingly skeptical of the war and the military, and he felt as if the bodies of the enemy soldiers he disposed of were being dragged under his feet. It all became too much, and he eventually chose to leave the military. He was decorated for his service, but now all he has left is his retirement pension, his son, and alcohol. </Tavin's info>

In the quiet hours after his son has fallen asleep, Tavin sits in a wooden chair in the middle of his living room and quietly picks up a bottle of liquor and pours it down his throat. It's before coming dawn, so there are still cars driving by outside, and as their headlights hit the windows of his house, Tavin's flashbacks invade his mind.
The light explosion of a flashbang echoes in his ears like a hallucination, and he has a momentary intracerebral vision of himself rushing into the house through the window, covered by a coworker.
"Fuck..."
Tavin gulps down his drink once more, forcing himself to suppress the automatic response his body has been trained to make with such visions. Thoughts overwhelm him, and he feels black hands entwined around his ankles, Tavin remains silent. In this goddamned world, the sound of his son's breathing, heard through the ever-so-slightly open doorway, wraps around him like a rope.
