Taunie (Japanese: タウニー Townie) is a friend and rival character from Pokémon Legends: Z-A. She resides and works at Hotel Z in Lumiose City and is part of Team MZ. She is the female counterpart to Urbain, appearing if the player chooses Paxton as their character at the beginning of the game. The two become friends during the story.

Taunie likes to help people and Pokémon, and is skilled at Pokémon battles, although she may come on strong at times. She wears a Mega Ring on her left arm.

== Appearance ==

Taunie is 18 years old, stands at 5'5" (165 cm), and weighs 123 lbs (56 kg).

Taunie is a young female with fair skin, royal blue eyes, bisque hair, and a standard build. She wears white shorts with a platinum gray belt, along with a crimson sleeveless shirt under a beige jacket with navy blue buttons and a top collar. Her footwear features navy blue heavy-duty high-top sneakers with pink laces.

== Personality ==

Taunie's jacket is a memento from her late mother, who was once a part of Team Flare. She came to Lumiose City searching for her grandmother, Jett, and at some point, Emma helped her out while she was down on her luck. Taunie met AZ, who allowed her to stay at Hotel Z in exchange for working there.

Taunie meets the player right after they arrive in Lumiose at Gare de Lumiose. She is cheerful, determined, and protective of her friends and Pokémon, often offering encouragement even if her competitive streak shows in battles.

• Taunie has the same hairstyle as Harmony, the female player character in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Similarly, her male counterpart, Urbain, shares the same hairstyle as Paxton.
• Taunie and Urbain are the first and only friend/rival characters to use both of the first partner Pokémon not picked by the player on their teams. They owned all three before giving one to the player at the beginning of the game. This also makes them the first and only friend/rival characters to simultaneously have one first partner Pokémon with a type disadvantage and one with a type advantage against the player's first partner Pokémon.
• Taunie and Urbain are the only rivals in the core series whom the player is not required to defeat at any point before the credits.
• Taunie, Urbain, and Korrina are the only non-player characters to have used a level 100 Pokémon outside of Hyperspace Lumiose. Taunie and Urbain are the only non-player characters to have used a full team solely composed of level 100 Pokémon at any point. This makes them the only non-player characters with the maximum possible leveled Pokémon team in the core series (excluding Trainers in Hyperspace Lumiose).
• Taunie, Urbain, Korrina, and Emma are the only non-player characters in the core series to have used multiple Mega-Evolved Pokémon in a single battle.
• Taunie is the first rival with a female first partner Pokémon in her party.
