Captain John Price — Reboot Timeline (Modern Warfare 2019) Sources: callofduty.fandom.com/es and en.namu.wiki
"We get dirty and the world stays clean. That's the mission."
Captain Jonathan Price, simply known as John Price, is a main character appearing in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) and Call of Duty: Warzone; he also appears as a skin in Call of Duty: Mobile and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Price is a member of the SAS and Task Force 141.
Biography & Career With his service in the 22nd SAS Regiment, John Price has spent most of his career fighting in the shadows. He has been shot, captured, abandoned, tortured, and left for dead. Price is a veteran of military operations in nearly every conflict-prone corner of the world, and distinguishes himself by acts of gallantry and intrepidity. His achievements have become material of regimental history. Price joined the infantry at the age of sixteen and has served in the British Army for eighteen years. One of the youngest cadets to graduate from the Royal Military Academy as a commissioned officer, he completed Special Service Commando selection and was "badged" as a member of the SAS, proving his worth in countless covert operations across multiple deployments in the Middle East. Promoted to Captain in 2011, with the callsign "Bravo Six", Price is the officer in charge of a highly effective unit tasked with counter-terrorism, specializing in close-quarters combat, sniper techniques, and hostage rescue. He has an off-the-books mission to capture or kill high-value targets. Blessed with uncanny instincts and an uncontrollable determination, Captain Price is a peerless combat follower, known for excelling in a fluid and volatile environment. Expert in the elite of the search and attack, Price is versed in a wide range of field craft and tactical capability. From airborne shock soldier to long-range reconnaissance operator, Captain Price is a covert operator, sniper, and saboteur—of jungle, desert, and urban environments. With a gift for developing and maintaining ties with foreign combatants around the world by gaining goodwill through trust, Captain Price works closely with Western intelligence agencies assigned to aggressively pursue HVTs. His counter-terrorism squadron is on call to mobilize anywhere in Europe with immediate readiness. Price believes that the duty of every soldier is to fight for the greater good: "The rules of engagement don't change, but their justification does." Price always fights for what is right, but knows that what is right is not always what you're fighting for. He often says: "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter." Sometimes unpredictable and unrestrained, John Price has a golden rule of his own: "We get dirty and the world stays clean." Although an officer, Captain Price has always preferred to accompany an enlisted warrior. John often tells new recruits: "All it takes to change the course of history... is the will of a single man or woman." Not above a dishonest move or an unholy alliance in the name of getting the job done, John has a deep but often strained relationship with the system. Specialized in unconventional warfare, Captain Price is an objective-focused warrior who deploys a direct-cutting lethality. Like Sergeant Kyle, Price seems to hate being bound by rules or procedures, and sometimes takes drastic actions on his own, often against orders.
Early Career While still a Lieutenant, Price was involved in an attempted assassination of the Russian arms dealer Imran Zakhaev under the command of then-Captain MacMillan in Pripyat, Ukraine. The attempt was unsuccessful. In 2009, now in command of the Bravo unit, Lieutenant Price was informed of a Russian chemical laboratory in Urzikstan by a Commander "Karim" of the Urzikstan Liberation Force; acting on this, the SAS launched a raid on the facilities, and Price assisted Commander Farah Karim. Upon helping her up, the group rescued a group of prisoners in the laboratory, including Karim's brother, Hadir Karim. He then ordered Farah and Hadir to establish a camp in the mountains, away from the Russians and their commander, General Roman Barkov.
London On October 24, 2019, during an assignment, Captain Price was contacted by CIA Station Chief Kate Laswell about a failed CIA mission to secure Russian chemical gas in Verdansk that left several Marines dead. Given the risk that the gas could be deployed anywhere in the West, Price agreed to help while finishing his current assignment. The next day, on October 25, multiple terrorists affiliated with Al-Qatala launched a terrorist attack in Piccadilly Circus in central London, with the Metropolitan Police Service and CTSFO units struggling to contain the attacks. Bravo Team was called in to help secure the area. Captain Price's unit helped contain the attacks and saved Sergeant Kyle Garrick from an Al-Qatala fighter inside an electronics shop. Together with Garrick, Price cleared the building, although they were unable to save a hostage who was forced to wear an explosive vest. Price pushed the hostage with the vest from the second floor to save the others from its inevitable detonation. After securing Piccadilly Circus, Price was informed by Garrick that the MPS had actionable intelligence on the terrorist cell but could not take any of these actions to maintain public calm; with the information, Price took Garrick under his command. Two days after the Piccadilly attacks, SAS units under Price's leadership cleared a terrorist cell in a house in Camden Town, north London. Price and Garrick cleared the house of hostiles and obtained intelligence and the current location of Al-Qatala's leader, Omar "The Wolf" Sulaman.
Urzikstan Thanks to the intelligence from the London house raid, U.S. Marines and CIA officer Alex captured Omar Sulaman at the Rammaza Hospital in Urzikstan the next day, and took him to the United States Embassy in Urzikstan to be interrogated and extracted by SAS. However, Al-Qatala's second-in-command, The Butcher, rallied Al-Qatala forces in front of the Embassy, outnumbering the Marines. Price and Garrick entered a Black Hawk to extract Sulaman, but an RPG shot them down as Al-Qatala violated the Embassy and began killing indiscriminately. Price survived the crash and continued with Garrick to meet up with the Marines. Price stopped Garrick during The Butcher's intimidation attempts, which included the murder of a father and his young son. Price assured Garrick that they would eventually capture The Butcher. The pair then managed to clear the way to the Embassy's safe room where they met up with Alex and Farah, who had secured Sulaman. Price led Farah, Alex, and allied units escorting Sulaman to the ambassador's residence, while Garrick helped the ambassador's assistant get to safety. Outnumbered, Price's group and the remaining Marines held off Al-Qatala forces as best they could with the help of illumination rounds from a mortar and a drone provided by Laswell; however, they could not prevent Al-Qatala from recovering Sulaman. Due to the situation, Price divided his assets to try to prevent The Wolf from escaping; Alex and Farah went out to the Highway of Death to intercept The Wolf. Price and Garrick arrived after Hadir had stolen and used Russian poison gas in a chemical attack with the help of Al-Qatala forces. Price found Alex and Farah barely alive in a bunker, both enraged by Hadir's betrayal. Once the situation deteriorated further, Laswell gave Bravo Team execution authority over The Wolf, The Butcher, and Hadir; Bravo, with Price leading, launched an assault on The Wolf's compound in Takkari, Urzikstan. Price and Garrick secured the compound with SAS and CIA forces, while Alex and Farah found The Wolf and killed him. Because the chemicals were still missing and Hadir's recent involvement with Al-Qatala, the United States had listed Farah's Urzikstan Liberation Force as a terrorist threat, provoking Price's anger, who threatened Marine Colonel Norris over the decision.
Eastern Europe Intelligence obtained during the raid on The Wolf's compound suggested that Al-Qatala, with Hadir's help, was planning another terrorist attack in St. Petersburg, Russia. Price discussed with Laswell about warning Moscow or letting the attack happen, before Price offered his own plans: an unauthorized "black" operation to capture Hadir and The Butcher in Russia with the help of one of Price's FSB contacts. Price then allowed Garrick to join him, arguing that he is ready for this type of operation. In St. Petersburg, Price and Garrick managed to connect with Price's FSB contact, Nikolai, who provided them with silenced weaponry and field assistance. When The Butcher tried to escape, Price and Garrick pursued him and killed several Al-Qatala agents, until Nikolai struck The Butcher with a van, stopping him. Price then secured The Butcher inside the van while Garrick kept Al-Qatala from approaching. After escaping, the group took The Butcher to a warehouse to be interrogated by means of Yegor. Because The Butcher was unwilling to cooperate, Price had Nikolai capture The Butcher's wife and son as bargaining chips for information, which he then disclosed under stress when his family was threatened. After discovering that Hadir had moved to General Barkov's personal property in Moldova with Al-Qatala helping him, Price and Garrick went to find Hadir. On the estate, Price provided Garrick's night vision when he discovered several tortured interrogation victims, who turned out to be Barkov's relatives. When Garrick learned that Hadir was inside the mansion on the estate, Price regrouped with him and moved to the main house to secure Hadir and leave with him, narrowly escaping Barkov's forces. After securing Hadir and the plans for Barkov's chemical factory in Georgia, Laswell and a group of Marines met Price on the way back. Laswell informed Price that Russia wanted Hadir in their custody, and that the United States complied to avoid a possible diplomatic crisis; Hadir had to be transferred to Russia. Price, annoyed and frustrated by this, agreed to hand over Hadir, but kept the information on the gas factory.
Georgia Acting on the information acquired from the previous operation, Bravo Team recruited Farah, Alex, and the Urzikstan Liberation Force to help destroy Barkov's gas factory in Georgia. With Laswell's help through an APC, a missile drone, and remote explosives provided by Nikolai, the team assaulted Barkov's gas factory. The team split in two; Price and Garrick would bomb the pipeline while Farah and Alex would enter and blow up the inner furnace. Price and Garrick successfully planted their explosives, but Alex, with his remote detonator broken, decided to sacrifice his life to detonate his explosives manually. Price, Garrick, and the Urzikstan Liberation Force escape after destroying the chemical laboratory.
Forming Task Force 141 and Countering New Threats After the attack on the gas laboratory, Russia officially repudiated Roman Barkov, his forces, and his actions. Some time later, Price asked General Shepherd for personal files of several Special Forces individuals. Laswell met with Price to discuss the files, and Price wanted to create a task force to tie up loose ends. Originally, Laswell refused, leading Price to threaten to retire. Laswell changes her mind and informs Price that Viktor Zakhaev, the son of Imran Zakhaev, is gaining power; stopping Zakhaev will be one of the task force's first missions. Price officially recruits Kyle "Gaz" Garrick, John "Soap" MacTavish, and Simon "Ghost" Riley, and names the team Task Force 141. Not long after Price assembled Task Force 141, Laswell informed both Nikolai and Price that a new individual had taken control of Al-Qatala and had obtained new resources that strongly strengthened Al-Qatala's army and led them to occupy the city of Verdansk. FSB Sergeant Kamarov, another of Price's contacts, reported that the West and Russia will cooperate to end this new threat. Price, Nikolai, Laswell, and Kamarov gathered their agents and began their attempt to stop Al-Qatala again.
War Against Al-Qatala When Al-Qatala launched toxic gases inside Verdansk, operator and Task Force 141 member Simon "Ghost" Riley discovered a chaotic situation where Armistice operators had turned against themselves and began attacking each other. He soon asked Price to send reinforcements he could trust. Following the battle unfolding in Verdansk, Price and the Coalition and Task Force 141 operatives went to support those who were on their side and get them out of Verdansk. After the events of Verdansk, Riley managed to escape the city and was deployed to a classified location where Price informed him that the attack on Verdansk was Zakhaev's plan, with the intention of dissolving the Armistice. Price sent Alex, who was still alive after the operation at Barkov's gas factory, to help Riley. As the situation in Verdansk intensified with the discovery of bunkers used to store Al-Qatala weapons, Price conducted an operation in the city together with Task Force 141 operator Kyle "Gaz" Garrick, with the intention of preventing the situation from becoming more chaotic. Eventually, he also recruits Farah and Nikolai to join the operation in Verdansk and requests the help of Sergeant Griggs in the search and capture of Viktor Zakhaev. In December 2020, after learning of Viktor's movement, Price formed a team and headed to a nuclear bunker where he personally prevented Viktor from launching a missile and bombing Verdansk. In such a way, Price killed Viktor, throwing him into the void of the nuclear missile launch, and managed to stop the missile countdown in time with Nikolai's help. Subsequently, he responds to a radio call from Soap, who requests assistance "a few clicks off the coast of Verdansk."
Trivia (Reboot) Like his classic counterpart, Price owes a favor to Kamarov after an unknown event in Beirut, Lebanon.
Price is one of the characters who has the most graphic changes along with Kyle being Gaz and Simon "Ghost" Riley.
In Modern Warfare (2019), his preferred weapon is the Kilo 141. The accessories vary in the scenes but in the game, his customized Kilo 141. This particular loadout appears in the Piccadilly, Cleanup, Going Dark, and Into the Furnace missions.
Photographs of Price and Farah, along with more photos of Euphrates Bridge, Gun Runner, and Grazna Raid are found at Barkov's Estate in Moldova. They are found once more at Khandor Hideout and then the photos of the aforementioned maps appear in a secret room in the Acropolis National Arena of Verdansk.
Price's blood type is O+.
The Cold War version of Price appears as "Captain Price" in the Operator menu in Cold War, while in Warzone he appears as "Price '84".
Additional Reboot Details (Namu Wiki) Price's real name is Jonathan "John" Price. His callsign is Bravo 0-6. His nationality is British, his age is late 30s, and his height is 187cm. He is voiced by Barry Sloane.
In the reboot version, Price is depicted as the most emphasized character in the trailer and was predicted to be the main character. The smoker setting was also maintained, so he is shown leisurely smoking a cigar in a night ambush situation where stealth is clearly important. Unlike previous works that always insisted on the M4A1, he uses various firearms such as the Kilo 141. On the other hand, unlike the previous games where he wore a beret/boonie hat for almost all operations and the boonie hat became a symbol of sorts along with his cigar, in the reboot version he also wears a proper Opscore bulletproof helmet. Of course, he also wears a boonie hat, which is his identity. It appears in the very first prologue cutscene and during the embassy mission.

"An expert in clandestine tradecraft, sabotage and infiltration. He lives with a redacted past and an undercover present, marked by a concealed appearance to hide his identity and maintain anonymity in the field." — Modern Warfare In-game biography.
Biography Early Life and Career Born in Manchester, Simon Riley joined the Special Air Service and spent the majority of his career serving numerous short-term deployments and executing covert assignments in classified locations. He became an expert in clandestine tradecraft, focused on sabotage, ambushes, and infiltrations into denied areas and hazardous environments. Ghost concealed his identity under a hallmark skull figured mask to maintain anonymity in the field. At one point, Ghost worked in the same unit as Mace, the latter also sporting a metallic skull mask in a similar style to Ghost's mask.
Apprehending Vladimir Makarov In April 2019, Ghost took part in a counter-terrorist operation in Verdansk, Kastovia, working alongside fellow SAS operatives Captain John Price and Sergeant Johnny "Soap" MacTavish, under the command of General Herschel Shepherd, to apprehend the Ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov who was attacking Verdansk Stadium. Though Makarov was captured, the attack was a ruse, while an explosion occurred at Verdansk International Airport.
Joining Task Force 141 Price: "There he is... Simon Riley"
Laswell: "There's no picture."
Price: "Never." — Kate Laswell asking about the photo on Riley's file.
Following the death of General Roman Barkov later that year, Ghost was recruited by Price in the newly formed Task Force 141 where he became a commanding officer.
War in Verdansk Price: "Can you talk?"
Riley: "I can listen..."
Price: "Zakhaev's plan is working. The Armistice in Verdansk has officially fallen. It's bloody chaos."
Riley: "Tell me something I don't know." — Price talking to Ghost in the Season 3 cutscene.
Following the invasion of Verdansk by Al-Qatala on March 3rd, 2020, Riley was deployed in the city to assist the Armistice initiative against the terrorist organization supplied by Victor Zakhaev. During one of Armistice's operations, Ghost helped the Arm-4 team infiltrating the occupied Verdansk airport to retrieve a nuclear core. When Al-Qatala released toxic gas within Verdansk, Ghost discovered a chaotic situation where the operators of Armistice have turned against themselves and began targeting each other. He soon requested Price to send him reinforcements he could trust. Riley managed to escape the city and was deployed to a classified location where Price informed him that Zakhaev's plan worked, with the Armistice now officially disbanded. Ghost was assisted during this operation by Alex Keller, who was sent by Price. In December 2020, Ghost assisted Price in Verdansk to stop Zakhaev from launching the missile attack onto Verdansk. Ghost, along with Alex, Gaz, Price, Nikolai and Farah Karim communicated with Soap and assisted him "half a click off of Verdansk's coast".
Assassination of Ghorbrani In July of 2022, Ghost was deployed on a strike mission in the mountain desert terrain of Al Mazrah under the orders of both Laswell and General Shepherd to make visual contact on General Ghorbrani, Commander of Quds Force, Iranian Special Forces, in order to eliminate him as a potential threat while the latter was present for an arms deal with Russian Forces. Ghost confirmed the General's presence and the green light was given to Phillip Graves, Commander and CEO of Shadow Company, to launch a mobile ballistic cruise missile that completely obliterated the site of the arms deal, killing everyone including Ghorbrani which Ghost then later confirmed.
Missiles Crisis Raid in Al Mazrah Several months after Ghorbrani's death, Major Hassan Zyani, Ghorbrani's second in command, vowed vengeance against the United States and was reported to conduct secretively activities in Al Mazrah. Ghost along with Soap and Marine Special Operations Unit were dispatched to capture or kill Hassan. After fighting through a resistance from Al-Qatala who were supposedly there to protect Hassan were in fact protecting a cargo which turned out to be an American made ballistic cruise missile. Shepherd ordered Ghost and the team to destroy the missile before evacuating from Al-Mazrah.
Fighting the Cartel Ghost and Soap were later sent to Las Almas to meet up with Mexican Special Forces Colonel Alejandro Vargas and Sergeant Major Rodolfo Parra to hunt for Hassan whom they believed is being harbored and protected by the Las Almas Cartel with corrupt elements of the Mexican Army under the control of El Sin Nombre, leader of the Las Almas Cartel. After successfully capturing Hassan from the Cartel and Mexican military with the help from Graves and the support of Shadow Company's AC-130 gunship, they brought Hassan in the desert to interrogate him about the whereabouts of the missiles. Hassan proved difficult to handle and were ordered to release him as his detainment was illegal. A few days later, Ghost along with Soap, Vargas and Graves were conducting over watch on a mansion belonging to one of El Sin Nombre's lieutenant, Diego Salgado. After much discussion about getting to the cartel leader, Soap volunteered on a risky mission to infiltrate the compound with Vargas in disguised as one of the bodyguards with Ghost providing sniper overwatch and Graves on standby to snatch and grab. After they managed to capture the cartel leader who turned out to be Valeria Garza, a former member of Vargas unit, they interrogated her about the whereabouts of Hassan and the missiles, and she would offer up the information in exchange for a deal of securing her release and her cartel operation to be left undisturbed. Through the interrogation of Garza, Ghost along with 141, Los Vaqueros and Shadow Company participated in a raid on an oil rig located in the Gulf of Mexico where they located and destroyed the second missile before it had the chance to launch.
Betrayal of Shadow Company and Shepherd As the team got back, they come to find out that Graves with the support from Shepherd had taken over the Fuerzas Especiales facility and turned on them with Vargas being captured, forcing Ghost and Soap to escape to the city and fend off any Shadow operatives hunting them before regrouping at Vargas safe house where they met up with Rodolfo and formulate a plan to infiltrate an abandoned prison which was being used by Shadow Company as a Black Site Compound to free Vargas and Vaqueros operatives currently being held captive before escaping with help from Price and Gaz. Later, Laswell finds out that Shepherd and Graves were trying to cover up their illegal activity that had occurred months earlier where Shadow Company lost possession of the missiles when they were transporting it to allies fighting Russia to a company of Russian mercenaries who later gave them to Hassan, so he could exact revenge on the United States.
Ghost Team Ghost was present when Task Force 141 and Los Vaqueros formed JTF-Ghost Team. He then briefly took his mask off before donning a ghost mask with everyone before venturing off to retake the Fuerzas Especiales facility, where they took out Graves and Shadow Company. They then questioned Garza again, which she revealed that Hassan and the last missile were located in Chicago.
Death of Hassan and Missile Threat Eliminated As Task Force 141 with a squad of Marine Raiders moves in on Hassan with the latter having Al-Qatala protection, Ghost provided overwatch from another building. The team then rushed to take the controls after Hassan had launched the missile which was heading towards Washington, D.C. and Soap managed to disarm it with the help from Laswell. He then helps guide Soap to eliminate a few AQ soldiers and rushes on time to save Soap by sniping Hassan before the latter had the chance to throw him out the window. Ghost along with Price, Gaz, Soap, and Laswell were all at a bar where they discussed about the events that followed after their mission in Chicago. Laswell then hands them a picture of an individual whom Price recognized as Vladimir Makarov.
Makarov's Revenge On November 10th, 2023, as Task Force 141 reached their designated jumping point for an unknown mission. Laswell radioed Price, telling him that Makarov is out. Which prompted Price to tell the pilot to turn around and bring Task Force 141 back to base.
Nuclear Power Plant Attack On the same day, Soap alongside with other members of Task Force 141 were deployed to a nuclear power plant in Urzikstan after Konni forces were spotted converging to the plant. Price and Ghost recce the plant, while Soap and Gaz were tasked with securing the perimeter. There, Task Force 141 engaged with Konni forces and found out that they were trying to transport containers of Sarin gas - a remnant of Barkov's program. Despite the Task Force's best effort, Konni was still able to get away with the gas, and Price nearly lost his life while trying to prevent them from doing so.
Securing the missile Thanks to the trackers that were planted on the missile containers by Farah, Laswell was able to track it back to an abandoned bunker complex in Urzistan. Prompting the Task Force to assault it in hopes of preventing the missiles from launching. The Task Force then divided their work: Ghost alongside with Soap and Gaz sweep and clear the complex, with Price rallied up with Farah to clear another section of the complex. While Laswell went to Arklov Military Base, Verdansk to meet a contact who can help 141 in their search for Makarov. Price and Farah were able to stop one of the missiles from launching, but Ghost, alongside with Soap and Gaz failed to do so for the two remaining missiles, which launched and were heading for the Arklov Military Base. Which made Price radioed Laswell in the blind.
Raid on Makarov's financier private island Following the meeting with General Shepherd, a temporary truce was forged between Task Force 141 and Shadow Company, as they worked together to find and kill Makarov although Ghost was angry seeing Graves survived from their fight at Las Almas as well wanted to call an Airstrike. Shepherd then gave Laswell intel regarding Makarov's financier - Milena Romanova, who was located on a remote island with large security forces protecting her. Ghost and Soap then infiltrated the island to interrogate Milena and find out about Makarov's next move. Ghost provided overwatch while Soap worked his way around the security guards, eventually eliminating the HVT with the FOB Key, allowing Laswell to access the terminal which contained information about Romanova's bank accounts and the various dealings that happened on them. Eventually, Ghost and Soap reached the door to Romanova's office, with the help from Laswell, they walked into Romanova's office and began to interrogate her, through the usage of financial interrogation, Romanova broke and told them the information that they wanted. Soap then thanked Romanova for the "good chat", as him and Ghost left the office, with Romanova cursing them as they left.
Intercepting the HVT transport in Siberia The intel gathered from Romanova's interrogation led to Task Force 141 knowning of a recently established Konni outpost in St. Petersburg, prompting them to assault it. Following the assault, Task Force 141 captured Andrei Nolan - Makarov's right-hand man, from him, they learned that Makarov was transporting someone to an abandoned prison complex in Siberia, prompting them to intercept that convoy before it could reach its destination. Soap, Price, and Gaz positioned themselves underwater, while Ghost alongside with Farah provided overwatch. When the convoy reached the ambush position, Task Force 141 executed their plan and began to work their way to the HVT. Eventually, Soap, Price, and Gaz secured the HVT and brought him to the surface, where they found out that the person who Makarov was transporting was none other than General Shepherd, which made Price furious, Gaz then reminded him that they are in an exposed location and suggest that they moved to a more covered one. Shepherd then told Task Force 141 that he has good intel regarding Makarov and that they'd get it once they get him out of here. Price reluctantly agreed to that, the Task Force then fought through reinforcing Konni forces. Eventually, they reached the extraction zone and boarded the helicopter. Then, Task Force 141 brought General Shepherd to a remote location in Sibera, where they told him to owe up and told Congress all the truth, which Shepherd reluctantly agreed to. The Task Force then took him aboard the helicopter and left Siberia.
Preventing disaster at the Gora Dam Following his return, Shepherd revealed that Makarov wanted to blow up the Gora Dam, in order to flood Verdansk and kill its inhabitants, and to blame it on Farah and the West. Soap and Ghost were deployed there to disarm the bombs and prevent a catastrophe from happening. Through careful maneuvering, Soap and Ghost managed to disarm all the bomb sites in the vicinity and exfilled, preventing a disaster from happening.
Operation Trojan Horse Laswell received information from the MI6 that Makarov and Konni were in London, she also found out that they are meeting up with a hacker. Soap and Gaz were deployed on the ground, where they blended in to track the hacker, while Ghost provided help from the CCTVs. Soap overheard the conversation and learned the location of the buyer. Task Force 141 and SFO then gathered at an abandoned tunnel in Amsley Street, then the team breached and began to clear the tunnel, they managed to kill the buyer and acquired the flash drive. Despite their effort, the virus was uploaded to the train system, granting Konni the ability to control the train, and Task Force 141 also learned that Makarov planned to destroy Channel Tunnel. Task Force 141 alongside with SFO's approached the Channel Tunnel. They then split up, with Gaz, Ghost, the SFO leader and half of his men taking one side and Price, Soap alongside the rest of the SFOs taking the other. The tunnel is run through with trains as Konni take over the network. After intense shootouts with Konni. Price and Soap found a bomb being guarded by Konni contractors. Whilst Soap worked on disarming the bomb, more Konni contractors attacked them, Price alongside with the SFO provided cover for Soap. Then, Price requested that Gaz and Ghost reinforce them. Following prolonged shootouts with Konni on the other side, Ghost and Gaz then arrived and returned fire, forcing Makarov to flee with his men. But it was too late, Soap was already killed by Makarov beforehand, which made Ghost walked over and kneel beside his body, shouting out: "Johnny!" in a disheartened voice. Gaz and Price then disarmed the bomb in time as they look over their fallen teammate. Following Soap's death and cremation, his ashes were scattered in Scotland by Ghost, while Price and Gaz stood in silent to pay their respect for him.

John "Soap" MacTavish — Original Modern Warfare Trilogy Source: callofduty.fandom.com/wiki/John_"Soap"_MacTavish
Captain John "Soap" MacTavish is one of the main protagonists of the Modern Warfare franchise, and also appears in Call of Duty: Heroes, as well as Call of Duty Online. He appeared in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as a sergeant and special forces soldier, serving as the 22nd S.A.S. Regiment's sniper and demolitions expert, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as a captain and the Field Commander of Task Force 141, along with Captain John Price with Sgt. Gary "Roach" Sanderson and Lt. Simon "Ghost" Riley under his command. He played an important role during the Ultranationalist crisis, being a newcomer to the British Special Air Service and part of Captain Price's Bravo Team. Players assume the role of Soap in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in addition to other characters. He is present as an NPC in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, except for the last three levels of the game, where the player once again plays as Soap. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 he is only playable in the first level and is an NPC from the remainder of the game.
Biography Early life Not much is known about Soap's early life except he was born Roman Catholic. He is from Scotland, which is evident by the Scottish flag seen on his dog tags, along with his Scottish accent.
Military career Soap served with the 3rd Battalion, Parachute Regiment prior to joining the SAS, with at least one tour in Northern Ireland.
SAS career "The F.N.G." — Soap begins his S.A.S. career hours before the Second Russian Civil War begins. Initially, Soap starts out as a Sergeant. Whilst in the S.A.S.'s training camp in Credenhill, U.K., Soap received a quick training session in weapons and techniques by a fellow S.A.S. member Gaz, before being introduced to Captain John Price and the rest of Bravo Team. He is referred to as "the F.N.G." (short for 'Fucking New Guy') by an unknown SAS soldier. After passing the C.Q.B. (close-quarter battle) test, Soap is briefed on the mission to infiltrate and assault a cargo ship in the Bering Strait. On board the ship, they discover a nuclear bomb bound for Russia, though enemy MiGs interrupt their investigations. In the process of escaping the doomed vessel, Soap was forced to leap for the ramp of the team's helicopter, just as it was beginning to fly away. He lost his grip; however, mere seconds before he was bound to fall off the vehicle, Soap was rescued by Captain Price.
Rescue of Code Name: Nikolai — Upon completing the mission, Soap, Price and Gaz travel to the Caucasus Mountains in Russia to extract the informant who supplied them with the intelligence for the cargo ship, a man codenamed "Nikolai". Working in close conjunction with Russian government Loyalists led by Sergeant Kamarov, they successfully locate and extract Nikolai from the battle zone, though their helicopter is shot down by an Ultranationalist surface-to-air missile. Bravo Team, Nikolai and another S.A.S operator is forced to fight their way through enemy lines, before being provided with support from an AC-130H Spectre Gunship, call-signed "Wildfire." They are extracted by helicopters under cover of heavy air support from Wildfire.
The Search For Al-Asad — Soap's next mission with Bravo Team would take him to Azerbaijan, clearing through an abandoned village in search of Khaled Al-Asad. Upon locating him, Soap witnessed Al-Asad's interrogation and execution at the hands of Captain Price, learning that Imran Zakhaev had been Al-Asad's weapons supplier. The next day, it appears Soap was designated the team's support man, being equipped with both an M249 and M21 sniper rifle. He was placed in charge of covering the team's retreat with the Minigun from a downed Black Hawk (destroying several Ultranationalist Helicopters in the process) and detonating the explosive charges placed at Phase Line Bravo. Afterwards, he was the point man when the squad had to backtrack to the lower part of the village due to heavy coverage of Anti Aircraft weapons in the vicinity. Following this, Soap and the rest of Bravo Team were extracted by US Marines led by Staff Sergeant Griggs.
Chasing the Son of Zakhaev — MacTavish's final mission in the Russian civil war saw him infiltrating Russia as part of the joint task force of United States Marine Corps and SAS operators in order to eliminate Imran Zakhaev's nuclear capability. After grouping with US forces, Soap and his allies proceeded to enter an Ultranationalist outpost and secure it, as part of plan to capture Zakhaev's son, Viktor Zakhaev. After a few hours, a convoy arrives in the outpost, led by Viktor himself. Bravo Team, disguised as Russian guards, allow Viktor to enter the facility, though quickly reveal their true intentions and attack his forces. During the battle that followed, Soap and Griggs provided sniper support for the rest of the team from a high tower. However, Viktor Zakhaev rams his jeep into one of the legs of the tower, sending it tumbling to the ground, providing the perfect distraction to get away. Stunned, Soap was unable to take down Victor before he could get away. After chasing him through a small village, and a five story building, Soap and the rest of the team corner Viktor. Unwilling to betray his father's secrets, Viktor committed before Soap could take away his weapon.
15,000 Nukes At Stake — Angered at his son's death, Zakhaev threatened to launch nuclear missiles at the East Coast of America if US and British forces did not withdraw from Russia. In order to handicap Zakhaev's nuclear threat, Soap, Price, Gaz, Griggs, and several other SAS members parachuted into the Altay Mountains in order to reach his launch facility. However, their mission was delayed by Griggs's separation and subsequent capture. After eventually locating and recovering him, Soap planted a set of C4 on a power tower, destroying the electricity supply to the facility. Following this, the team regrouped with US snipers before witnessing a double nuclear missile launch at Zakhaev's hands. Entering the facility, the team furiously fought against time to reach the launch control center, and eventually deactivated the missiles. However, the team was unable to prevent Zakhaev's escape, and he managed to depart the facility before anything could be done. The group then attempted to escape, with Soap provided all-around covering fire for their jeep as they made their way to the extraction site. However, Zakhaev's Mi-24 Hind severely damaged the bridge, causing the jeep to crash and forcing Soap and his companions to continue on their own. Fighting fiercely at the bridge in a massive penultimate battle, Soap was blown to the ground and severely injured by an exploding fuel truck. But he was pulled into cover by Sgt. Griggs, moments before Griggs himself was killed. He then watched helplessly as Imran Zakhaev and his bodyguards executed Gaz and two other SAS operatives. Just as all hope seemed lost, a Loyalist Mi-28 gunship destroyed the Ultranationalist Mi-24 Hind, forcing Zakhaev and his henchmen to turn away their attention from Soap and open fire on the helicopter. With Zakhaev and his men's attention diverted, a heavily wounded Price slid Soap his M1911 pistol, which Soap used to kill Zakhaev and two of his bodyguards just as they began to turn. Moments later, Loyalist forces flooded the scene and Kamarov came to Soap's aid, placing him onto a stretcher, and assuring him that he will be alright. Soap passed out during the middle of extraction, though survived his wounds alongside Price.
Inter-War period Credenhill — Soap recuperated in Russia with Nikolai, then in a military hospital in Birmingham, U.K. before returning to Credenhill. He began to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, believing it was his fault that Griggs, Gaz and the others had died while feeling guilty that he had survived. However he does take some comfort in having killed Zakhaev, saying it makes it worthwhile. He was also under the impression that Price had perished alongside the others. He mostly spent his time running circuits and getting fitter, vowing to be stronger than before.
Hereford — During time on leave, he visited Price's favourite race course in Hereford. On the way back to Credenhill he visited a tobacco shop and picked up a box of Price's favourite cigars.
Task Force 141 Creation — During the inter-war period Soap decided to create a multinational Task Force. He managed to get the Commander of the U.S. forces in the middle east, Shepherd, to become the Task Force's Commander. He evaluated recruits from the U.S. Army Rangers, Special Air Service and Canadian Special Operations Regiment.
Reunited — Sometime before Operation Kingfish, Soap was reunited with Price. With Price joining as Field Commander of his newly formed Task Force.
Operation Kingfish — On October 8, 2013, a joint Task Force 141/Delta Force operation codenamed Operation Kingfish was launched; the team consisting of John Price, John "Soap" MacTavish, Simon "Ghost" Riley, Gary "Roach" Sanderson, and Delta Operators Sandman and Derek "Frost" Westbrook. The team assault the main compound and are able to recover some intel, but get ambushed by a bomb, forcing the team to evacuate. During the evac Soap is wounded by an RPG and is partially knocked out, an AC-130 tries to defend the team as they sprint toward their evac point, but is shot down. Leaving the team completely vulnerable. Forcing Price to selflessly stay behind to facilitate the team's escape. Roach and Sandman drag Soap aboard an Osprey, much to his dismay. In the aftermath, Soap is assigned as the task force's field commander.
Field Commander — After Operation Kingfish, Soap is leading the 141's operations with Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley and Sergeant Gary "Roach" Sanderson under his command.
Recovering the ACS — When the Russians get their hands on a downed U.S satellite, MacTavish and Sanderson are sent to infiltrate a Russian airbase to recover an ACS module within the Tian Shan mountain range in Kazakhstan. After scaling the mountain and sneaking through the base, the two recover the module inside a hangar. However, they are quickly compromised by Major Petrov and his forces. MacTavish tells Roach to go to Plan B, in which Roach pulls the trigger on a C4 detonator that detonates a packet of C4 strapped to a fuel tank. In a daring escape, Roach and MacTavish fight their way out of the base and commandeer snowmobiles, leading to a thrilling chase down the mountainside to the awaiting evacuation team.
Alejandro Rojas — Shortly after the mission in Kazakhstan, MacTavish led Task Force 141 into Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to capture Rojas, an arms dealer who had supplied the Russian terrorist Vladimir Makarov during his assault on Zakhaev International Airport. While Soap and Ghost interrogated Rojas' right-hand man, Roach and two other task force members went into the favela in search of Rojas. The two are killed in the fighting, leaving Roach to tackle the favela by himself. Roach fights his way through, eventually linking up with MacTavish and Ghost, whom have just captured Rojas. However, all they managed to learn from Rojas is that Makarov has a strong hatred for Prisoner 627 in a Russian gulag. Due to the surprise invasion of the United States, the airspace around Brazil is locked down, leaving the task force stranded in the middle of enemy territory. In order to escape, MacTavish calls in Nikolai, whom Soap had saved during the events of the Second Russian Civil War. Surrounded by militia, the task force fights its way to a market, where Nikolai was supposed to pick them up in a helicopter. However, due to the fire from the militia he is forced to the secondary extraction point. During the escape, Roach is nearly left behind when he falls off a rooftop. However, he makes his way back to the top, Militia in tow, and makes it aboard the helicopter.
Counterstrike in Russia — Shortly after being extracted from South America, the Navy SEALs and Task Force 141 initiated a two-stage operation. The first stage being to secure a modified oil platform in order to disable SAM sites on the platform, and the second phase to infiltrate the prison itself. After infiltrating the prison, MacTavish led his troops through the Russian gulag, and eventually reach Prisoner 627, who turns out to be none other than Captain Price. Although Price is at first hostile towards Roach, he rejoins after recognizing Soap, and the squad manages to extract (via SPIE rig) from the gulag before it explodes. During this time, MacTavish returns Price's M1911 pistol he used to kill Imran Zakhaev five years ago.
The Contingency — Task Force 141 then headed into Petropavlovsk, Russia, seemingly on a mission to destroy a submarine. During the course of the mission, Roach facilitated Price's infiltration inside a submarine by providing Predator drone support. However, in a sudden twist of events, Price used the submarine to launch a nuclear missile, using it as an EMP to hinder the Russian's attack on America.
Shepherd's True Motives — After the events of the nuclear launch, Task Force 141 was split up to investigate two locations, with Price and MacTavish investigating an arms deal in Afghanistan, while Ghost and Roach and the bulk of the task force investigate one of Makarov's safehouses in Russia. Price and MacTavish are attacked by Shepherd's men and attempt to warn Ghost and Roach, only to be too late in the process. Soap and Price manage to escape the aircraft graveyard with the help of Nikolai while getting some intelligence from Makarov, focusing on killing Shepherd.
Retribution — The two then pursue Shepherd through Afghanistan, fighting through his Shadow Company and into Site Hotel Bravo. They then prevent Shepherd's escape by shooting down the general's Pave Low where they eventually corner him and attempt to kill him. However, as MacTavish attempts to stab Shepherd, the latter disarms Soap, slams his head into a broken down car (thus knocking him to the ground) and impales Soap with Shepherd's knife. Before Shepherd could execute Soap with a .44 Magnum, however, Price tackles Shepherd, causing him to drop the gun. As Soap crawls towards it, Shepherd manages to push Price away from him, kicking the .44 Magnum away and stomping Soap's head. Price and Shepherd then engage in a long, brutal hand-to-hand fight that Soap can see as he drifts in and out of consciousness, with Shepherd eventually gaining the upper hand. However Soap, now awake, manages to gather what little strength he had left to get the knife out of his chest, and throws it into Shepherd's left eye, killing the treacherous general in seconds. Price, who had been punched unconscious, awakens, pushing Shepherd ́s body off of him. Seeing Soap's mangled state, Price then comes to his aid and the two are evacuated by Nikolai, who arrives in a MH-6 Little Bird, even though told by Price that it was "a one way trip". During the course of Shepherd's betrayal, Soap and Price were labeled as international fugitives, and were on the run following their victory over Shepherd.
W.I.A. and Disavowed Shortly after his victory over General Shepherd, Soap's recent wounds had him slowly dying on the trip to Nikolai's safehouse in India. To make matters worse, a large group of Makarov's men assaulted the safehouse in an attempt to kill the remnants of Task Force 141. Soap's survival would not have happened had it not been for the actions of Price, Nikolai, and new found ally Yuri. After escaping from the ruined safehouse and fighting through the streets of Himachal Pradesh, they are evacuated by Nikolai in a chopper.
Gathering Resources to Hunt Makarov — The now disavowed Task Force 141 and the Loyalists then work to collect resources to supply Price and Soap in their mission to kill Makarov. First, they map out weapon depots, shops and trafficking routes used by the local militia in exchange for money to purchase weapons from Parrot's Beak, Guinea. They are then tasked as security detail to a client in Ghana to escort 600 kilograms of gold from the Accra Intl. Airport to local couriers in exchange for money to purchase more ordinance, weaponry, and equipment.
Militia Investigation — Two months after his recovery, Soap accompanies Price and Yuri on missions in Sierra Leone and Somalia in pursuit of Makarov. When they land in Sierra Leone, the group follows up on Yuri's suspicions about Makarov's weapon shipments, and learn that the recent cargo Makarov's men retrieved were chemical weapons being shipped to Paris, Berlin, and London.
Going after Makarov Shortly after the wave of chemical attacks, intelligence from Price's former commanding officer, MacMillan, leads the team to a local warlord in Somalia named Waraabe, which leads to Soap assisting Price in interrogating him on intel about Makarov. The intelligence facilitates Team Metal's apprehension of Makarov's bomb-maker, Volk, during the Ultranationalist attack on Paris and Berlin. On the way out of Somalia Nikolai's chopper was shot down by Waraabe's men forcing them to detour through the sand storm, much to Soap's irritation. As they fought through the thick covered sand storm they eventually found Nikolai and got him out in a truck instead and shot their way out of Somalia.
Assassination attempt of Makarov — The acquired intelligence from Team Metal leads Price, Soap, and Yuri to Makarov's location in Prague. With aid from Kamarov, Price, Soap, and Yuri use the distraction of the local Resistance to their advantage to reach their assigned spots at the Hotel Lustig. Price would infiltrate the Hotel Lustig while Soap and Yuri provide cover with their sniper rifles at a nearby church. However, Makarov, not wanting to fall in the same trap as Zakhaev, caught wind of the assassination attempt and detonates the bombs planted on Kamarov and at Soap and Yuri's overwatch position. Soap pushes Yuri out the hole in the wall to save him, but gets caught in the blast radius, accompanied by suffering a long fall. Soap survives the fall, but is severely injured as a result of the blast, the fall and debris collapsing on him. Just before the detonation, Soap briefly learns of Yuri's then-unknown acquaintance with Makarov.
I've always thought Soap deserved better than a sudden bomb blast and a quiet fade-out in a Prague safehouse. So here's my take on it.
The bomb goes off.
The church tower shudders like a wounded animal, and Soap has exactly one heartbeat to shove Yuri through the gaping hole in the wall before the floor beneath him ceases to exist. The blast catches him across the back—a white-hot fist of pressure and debris—and he's falling, tumbling through rotten timber and plaster and the shrieking of his own nerves. He hits the ground floor hard enough to knock the world away, and for a long moment, there is nothing but darkness and the distant, muffled thunder of his own blood in his ears.
When he opens his eyes again, Price is there. Price is always there. The old man's face is twisted into something Soap has rarely seen—fear, raw and unmasked—and his hands are pressing down on Soap's chest with the desperate force of a man trying to hold a broken world together.
"Stay with me, Soap," Price is saying, and his voice sounds like it's coming from the far end of a very long tunnel. "Don't you bloody dare. Don't you dare."
Soap wants to tell him about Yuri. He wants to tell him what he saw, what he realized in the split second before the world exploded. But the words won't come. There's only the taste of copper and the feeling of something vital slipping away, like water through cupped fingers.
He doesn't remember the helicopter. He doesn't remember Nikolai's hands, slick with his blood, or Yuri's hollow stare from the opposite side of the cabin. He doesn't remember the frantic radio calls or the way Price kept one hand pressed against his chest the entire flight, as if his will alone could tether Soap's soul to his body.
What he remembers—what he will always remember—is waking up.
Two months later. A safehouse in the mountains outside Himachal Pradesh. The room smells of woodsmoke and antiseptic. Sunlight slants through a single window, catching the dust motes that drift lazily above his bed. Soap has been staring at the ceiling for what feels like hours, cataloging the cracks in the plaster, the water stain in the corner, the precise point where the wall meets the beam. Anything to avoid looking at the long, ragged scar that now runs from his left shoulder blade down to his hip.
"You're supposed to be resting."
Price's voice comes from the doorway. He's leaning against the frame, arms crossed, a cigarillo burning forgotten between his fingers. He looks older than Soap remembers. Tireder. But there's something else in his expression—a relief so profound it borders on disbelief.
"I've been resting for two months," Soap says, and his voice comes out as a croak. He clears his throat and tries again. "I'm done resting."
"You nearly died, Johnny."
"I nearly died before. Zakhaev's bridge. Shepherd's knife." Soap finally turns his head to meet Price's gaze. "This makes three."
Price is quiet for a moment. Then he crosses the room, pulls up a chair, and sits down heavily beside the bed. He doesn't speak right away. He just looks at Soap with those old, tired eyes, and Soap understands that something has shifted between them. Something permanent.
"The things you said," Price begins, and then stops. "When you were out. You kept talking. About Yuri. About Makarov."
Soap closes his eyes. The memories are fragmented—flashes of a hospital in Mumbai, the blur of being airlifted again, Nikolai's gruff voice arguing with doctors in Hindi. Through it all, Price had stayed. Price had refused to leave.
"I saw him," Soap says quietly. "Yuri. He knew Makarov. Before the airport. Before all of it. He was there."
"I know."
"And you didn't kill him?"
Price exhales a long stream of smoke. "Almost did. Had him at gunpoint in the street. But he talked fast. Told me everything." He taps ash onto the floor. "He's the reason you're alive, Johnny. He knew a doctor. A real one. The kind who doesn't ask questions. If he hadn't been there..."
He doesn't finish the sentence. He doesn't need to.
Soap opens his eyes and looks at the ceiling again. Three times now, he's stood on the edge of the abyss. Three times, something—someone—has pulled him back. Griggs on the bridge. Price in Afghanistan. And now Yuri, a man he barely knows, a man he has every reason to distrust.
"Where is he now?" Soap asks.
"Downstairs. Waiting." Price stubs out the cigarillo. "He wants to talk to you. I think he needs to."
Soap pushes himself up, ignoring the protest of his healing muscles, the pull of the scar tissue, the way the world tilts for a moment before righting itself. He swings his legs over the side of the bed and plants his feet on the cold wooden floor. His body feels like a weapon that's been disassembled and put back together slightly wrong. But it's still his. It still works.
"Then let's talk," he says.
The Years After They kill Makarov. It takes months—chasing leads through the Middle East, following the trail of bodies, of chemical weapons, of broken alliances. Soap is there for all of it. He moves a little slower now, favors his left side when the weather turns cold, and sometimes wakes in the night with the phantom sensation of falling. But he's there. He's still there.
After Makarov hangs from the glass ceiling of the Hotel Oasis, after Price lights his victory cigar and the sirens wail in the distance, Soap stands beside the old man and watches the body sway. He doesn't say anything. There's nothing left to say. The war is over. Finally, truly, over.
They go their separate ways. Price retires to a quiet life he's never quite sure what to do with. Ghost vanishes back into the shadows, where he's always been most comfortable. Gaz takes a command position and trains the next generation. Nikolai returns to his network, his helicopters, his endless supply of dubious contacts.
And Soap? Soap goes home.
He buys a small cottage in the Highlands, not far from where he grew up. He lets his beard grow out. He learns to cook, badly. He adopts a dog—a scarred, skittish border collie he names "Griggs" because someone has to remember, and it might as well be the two of them. On clear nights, he sits on the porch and looks up at the stars and thinks about all the men who didn't get to see them. Gaz. Griggs. Roach. Ghost's original team. So many others.
He drinks a toast to them all, and he doesn't feel guilty for surviving.
Price visits twice a year. They sit on that same porch, smoke too many cigars, and don't talk about the war. Instead, they talk about football, about the weather, about the absurd price of whiskey. Sometimes Ghost sends a postcard from whatever corner of the world he's haunting. No return address. Just a skull drawn in the corner and a single line: Still alive. — G.
And that's enough. That's more than enough.
Because John "Soap" MacTavish was never supposed to survive the first war, let alone the second. Every mission he's ever run has been a one-way trip that somehow, impossibly, turned into a round-trip ticket. He's carried the weight of the dead on his shoulders for so long that he'd forgotten what it felt like to stand upright.
Now, at last, he can.
So here's to Soap—the man who should have died on a bridge in Russia, on a dust-choked airfield in Afghanistan, in a bombed-out church in Prague. The man who refused. The man who crawled back from the brink three times and then walked away from the edge for good.
He's earned his quiet life. He's earned his porch, his dog, his bad cooking, and his twice-yearly visits from the old captain who still calls him "son." He's earned the right to be forgotten by the world he saved.
But he won't be forgotten. Not by Price. Not by Ghost. Not by anyone who ever served alongside Bravo Six and the indestructible Scotsman who refused to die.
"What the hell kind of name is Soap, anyway?"
It's the name of a man who survived. That's what it is.

Required to undergo resistance to interrogation (RTI) testing, Kyle was the only candidate in his class to escape the facility and evade capture. Routinely subjected to physically and mentally uncomfortable scenarios, Kyle prides himself on high tolerance and tactical awareness. "Everyone talks about the physical aspect of being in the SAS but my job is mostly mental. Give me a guy who's got his mindset right over a guy who's twice as fit any day of the week."
Sergeant Garrick was awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal, the South Atlantic Medal, and the General Service Medal for both covert and overt counterterrorism operations in the Middle East, disrupting opium supply lines and poppy production, a major source of terrorist financing. Kyle's last Middle Eastern tour was cut short due to an ever-changing political climate and a growing intolerance for full-throated unconventional warfare. Fading support for western backed guerrilla movements as well as growing regional tension complicated matters in the field, as men like Kyle are asked to do an imperfect job, perfectly well, without exception, no matter the cost.
With expertise in prime target elimination, demolitions, weapons tactics, covert surveillance and VIP protection, Kyle currently serves on the SAS domestic counter-terror program, executing homefield missions with metropolitan police forces on European soil. Challenging duty, due to civilian and collateral damage issues, Kyle seeks the opportunity to serve abroad again, and make a real difference combating the threat of terror.
It was revealed at the end of Modern Warfare's campaign that Kyle was given the nickname, Gaz. With the SAS notoriously shrouded in secrecy, Kyle explains: "We move in silence, do our job, and melt away. No publicity, no media. It takes stamina, willpower, guts and brains. Got those, we'll welcome you a try at being one of us. If you haven't got all that, then off with you..."
Piccadilly Circus — Tracking Al-Qatala On October 25, 2019, Garrick was working with CTSFO to track terrorists of Al-Qatala in Piccadilly Circus. After getting out of his vehicle, Garrick and the CTSFO officers held Al-Qatala insurgents at gunpoint before they detonated a bomb. Garrick and the CTSFO engaged with Al-Qatala, clearing train stations, bookstores, and an arcade. Once these locations were cleared, Garrick moved to the Tanto building, where he met up with Captain John Price's Bravo Team shortly before entering. Together, they cleared the building, though they were unable to save a hostage forced to wear an explosive vest. Price pushed the hostage with the vest from the second floor to save the others from its inevitable detonation.
Clean House — Camden Town Raid Two days after the Piccadilly attacks, SAS units under Price's leadership cleared a terrorist cell in a house in Camden Town, north London. Price and Garrick cleared the house of hostiles and obtained intelligence and the current location of Al-Qatala's leader, Omar "The Wolf" Sulaman.
Embassy — Urzikstan Thanks to the intelligence from the London house raid, U.S.
Highway of Death While Hadir, Farah and Alex were covering at the crossroads, Garrick went with Price door to door trying to find The Wolf and The Butcher. Later, they helped Alex out of the bunker after Hadir detonated the stolen gas against the Russians.
The Wolf's Den After discovering where The Wolf was hiding, Garrick with Price, Farah, and Alex assaulted the compound trying to find him, Hadir, and The Butcher. Garrick with Price and other SAS cleared two buildings, and found more information about Al-Qatala's operations. After the second building was cleared, they received information from a woman about the entrance to a tunnel system in a tea house. After Alex and Farah fell through the hole, a bomber detonated his vest and collapsed the tunnel behind them. After the tunnel collapsed, Garrick and the rest of the SAS secured the rest of the compound, while Farah and Alex headed to where The Wolf was.
Old Comrades — St. Petersburg After Farah's forces were labeled as terrorists, Price and Garrick made an unauthorized trip to Russia to find The Butcher. With the help of Nikolai, they found him in St. Petersburg. After obtaining weapons from Nikolai, Garrick and Price assaulted a warehouse that Al-Qatala was using. They killed the sentries in the alley, and then inside as well. After clearing the building, they pursued The Butcher through the streets of St. Petersburg. The pursuit ended when Yegor hit The Butcher with his van. They loaded The Butcher into the van, but had problems with the van's engine. Garrick defended against Al-Qatala fighters arriving by the van before Nikolai's van engine finally started, allowing them to escape.
They went to a warehouse, where they began to interrogate The Butcher. After The Butcher taunted Price, Yegor, and Garrick, Price sent Garrick to pick up a package Nikolai brought. Garrick opened the back of Nikolai's van to find a woman and a child. He brought them back to the room, where Price came out and offered Garrick a choice. Price gave Garrick a revolver, which he used to intimidate The Butcher. When Garrick pulled the trigger, he discovered the weapon wasn't loaded. Price gave him the bullets and grabbed The Butcher's son. Now that the weapon was loaded, The Butcher told Price where the rest of the stolen gas was. When asked about Hadir, The Butcher said where Hadir was but said it was probably too late because Barkov was likely already dead. Price left the room, knowing where the gas and Hadir were, leaving Garrick for a minute.
Going Dark — Barkov's Estate Garrick and Price traveled to Barkov's estate, where they found that Al-Qatala had already killed the guards and taken over. Garrick infiltrated the grounds with Price on overwatch, and traversed the estate searching for hostages. He went to the pool house, the clock tower, and a church. At the third location, he discovered that the hostage had broken and given up information about Barkov — a room in the main building and the code to access it. Garrick headed there and met up with Price outside the room. They entered the room to find Hadir there, and captured him, taking information about the factory that manufactured Barkov's gas. While Hadir was giving them the information he found, a helicopter opened fire on the house and destroyed the room. After the helicopter stopped firing, Garrick and Price escorted Hadir out of the house and took him to a tunnel leading away from the estate. Before departing, Laswell arrived and ordered Garrick and Price to hand over Hadir, after which they handed him over to the Russians.
Into the Furnace — Gas Factory Garrick and Price traveled back to Urzikstan and recruited Farah and Alex. Once they were done, they assaulted the factory, clearing Barkov's forces along the way. Garrick and Price separated from the rest of the group and made their way to the pipes supplying the factory, placing charges before leaving the factory.
Task Force 141 After the destruction of the factory, Price worked with General Shepherd and Laswell to form Task Force 141, to which Garrick, now known as Gaz, was recruited.
War Against Al-Qatala After Al-Qatala launched toxic gases inside Verdansk, the situation intensified with the discovery of bunkers used to store Al-Qatala weapons. Captain Price then conducted an operation in the city together with Garrick and Coalition members and Task Force 141 members, with the intention of preventing the situation from becoming more chaotic.
Trivia Between his classic version and this version there are too many changes not aesthetic but personality.
Kyle apparently maintains a moral of doubting the actions of others, being for example of the mission "Clean House" that he doubted that the raid was worth it for the innocents killed in Piccadilly Circus.
In Modern Warfare (2019), his preferred weapon is the M13. He uses a customized version, identical to the "Short Stuff" skin available in multiplayer and Warzone modes.
Shooting the dog in the mission "The Wolf's Den" will cause Kyle to say "Sorry, Pooch". This could be a reference to MacMillan seen in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare who comments the same when addressing the wild dog seen in the mission "All Ghillied Up".
The "Sabre" skin for Kyle resembles the outfit worn by Gaz in Call of Duty 4.
Like the original Gaz, Kyle is more of a protégé of Price and learns as he operates. He also questions Price's actions, to which Price guides him.
The skins "Sabre", "Broadsword", and "Claymore" are names of sword variants.

The abandoned cargo yard smells of salt, rust, and the faint ozone tang of a coming storm. Towering stacks of shipping containers create a steel labyrinth, their corrugated walls painted in faded logos from a dozen nations. The only light comes from a single floodlight on a crane tower, swinging erratically in the wind, casting long, dancing shadows across the cracked concrete. You've been running for six minutes. It feels like six hours. A bullet whips past your ear and ricochets off a container, the sound a high-pitched whine that leaves your ears ringing. You dive behind a rusted forklift, chest heaving, and press your back against the cold metal.
"Bravo Six, this is Ghost. Target is moving east through the container stacks. Cutting off the exit now."
The voice comes from everywhere and nowhere. You've heard it three times now, always calm, always measured, always accompanied by a bullet that came too close. Simon "Ghost" Riley. The man in the skull mask. The one who moves like a phantom and shoots like the devil.
"Copy, Ghost. Soap, Gaz, pinch maneuver. Shepherd wants this one alive." That voice is older, gruffer, carrying the unmistakable weight of command. Captain John Price. The man who ended wars.
"Alive? After what they did to the embassy?" A Scottish accent now, hot with barely contained fury. John "Soap" MacTavish. The demolitions expert. The man who crawled back from death's door three times and came back swinging. "You're joking, Captain."
"Orders are orders, Johnny."
You risk a glance around the forklift. The container stacks form a maze of narrow corridors, and somewhere in that maze, four of the deadliest soldiers on the planet are closing in. You've studied their files. You know their tactics. Price commands from the center, orchestrating the symphony of death. Ghost haunts the flanks, invisible until the moment he strikes. Soap brings the raw aggression, the forward pressure, the explosive entry. And Gaz, Kyle Garrick, the protégé, the quick-study, the one who's learned from all of them. A fifth presence lingers at the edges of your awareness. General Shepherd. He's not on the ground, he's somewhere above, in a command chopper, watching through drone feeds and thermal imaging. The architect. The betrayer. The man who killed Ghost and Roach in another timeline and paid for it with his eye. Here, in this moment, he's calling the shots. A red dot appears on the container beside your head. You throw yourself sideways just as the bullet punches through the metal where you were crouched. The shot echoes across the yard.
"Missed," Ghost's voice says, and there's something almost like respect in it. "You're fast. Let's see how long that lasts."
You're up and running before he finishes the sentence, weaving between containers, trying to break line of sight. The maze twists and turns, and every shadow feels like a threat. You round a corner. And there he is. Soap MacTavish stands in the center of the corridor, combat knife in one hand, M4A1 in the other. His face is scarred, his eyes hard, his stance the loose, ready posture of a man who's been fighting since before you picked up a weapon. He grins, and it's not a friendly expression.
"End of the line," he says.
You don't hesitate. You close the distance, and the fight begins.
He's strong, stronger than you expected, and fast. The knife whistles past your throat, then your ribs, each strike a hair's breadth from ending you. You block, parry, counter. His M4 comes up, and you slap the barrel aside just as the burst goes wide, the muzzle flash illuminating both your faces in strobe-light flickers.
"I've fought worse than you," Soap growls, driving a knee into your midsection. You double over, but you don't go down. You grab his vest, use his momentum against him, and slam him against the container wall. The impact rattles the steel.
"That's more like it," he grunts, and now the grin is real. "Price! I've got 'em pinned! South corridor!"
Footsteps. Multiple. Converging from both ends of the corridor. You release Soap and spin to face the new threats. Gaz comes from the east, his movements crisp, professional, every motion the product of years of SAS training. He doesn't waste time on banter. His weapon is up, his sights are on you, and his finger is on the trigger. From the west, Price himself. He moves with the deliberate calm of a predator that knows it doesn't need to hurry. His boonie hat is pulled low, his cigar is unlit, and his eyes, even in the dim light, burn with the cold fire of a man who has nothing left to lose. He's holding his M4A1 at his side, not bothering to aim. Not yet.
"The exit's covered," Price says, his voice carrying the same tone he might use to discuss the weather. "Ghost has the high ground. Shepherd's got eyes on every inch of this yard. You're good. I'll give you that. Most people don't last thirty seconds against Soap in close quarters."
"They got a decent left hook," Soap admits, rubbing his ribs.
"But you're out of options," Price continues. "So here's what's going to happen. You're going to put your weapon down. You're going to put your hands behind your head. And you're going to answer some questions about who sent you and why."
You tilt your head, a silent dare.
Price tilts his head, considering. The floodlight swings again, and for a moment, his face is illuminated in stark relief, every line, every scar, every year of war etched into his skin.
"Then we do this the hard way," he says. "And trust me. The hard way is what we're best at."
You hear it before you see it, a faint rustle of fabric, the whisper of a cloak, the near-silent footfall of a man who has made invisibility his religion. Ghost drops from the container above you, landing without a sound, rising behind you like a specter given form. The skull mask is from your shoulder.
"Boo," he says, and there's a dry, humorless amusement in his voice. "Nice moves earlier. Dodging my shot? That's rare. That's very rare."
You're surrounded. Four of the most lethal operators on the planet, each one a legend in their own right, each one with the skills and the will to end you in a heartbeat. And somewhere above, Shepherd watches, waiting for the outcome.
"You're not a terrorist," Ghost says, his weapon held at a relaxed but ready angle. "Your footwork is military level. Your hand-to-hand is special forces level. You knew our callsigns before we used them. You've done your homework."
"So who are you?" Gaz asks, his voice sharp but not hostile. "CIA? MI6? Another black ops unit we don't know about?"
"Doesn't matter," Soap cuts in. "They attacked an embassy outpost. People died."
"We don't know that for certain," Price says, and his eyes never leave yours. "What I know is that this one had multiple chances to kill Soap just now and didn't take them. That tells me something."
The silence stretches. The storm rumbles closer. The floodlight swings, casting the scene in alternating light and shadow.
