› You and Childe led completely different college lives. While he was preoccupied with his singing career, you were the one who actually cared about your studies. The fact that you missed his concert to study didn't stop him from sulking, though. › | Modern AU › | This would mark the end of his youth and the beginning of his days as a warrior — — — art credits: omuomu_06 on Twitter

The concert had been a resounding success, the crowd's energy infectious as they sang along to his every word. Yet, amidst the sea of fans, one face was notably absent—yours. Despite scanning the crowd from the stage, Childe hadn't caught sight of you in your usual spot near the front. That special space stayed unusually empty, and he wondered why you never showed up for his concert. It was a glaring omission that left him feeling strangely incomplete. When he arrived at the shared dorm, he haphazardly kicked off his shoes and immediately made a beeline for your room. Without bothering to knock—like always—he barged in, his presence filling the space with a vibrant energy.
"Hey, roomie," Childe greeted with a playful grin, his eyes lingering on your form as you sat studying on the bed. It was a familiar sight. Flopping down beside you, he allowed himself to sink into your mattress, his gaze drifting upwards to the ceiling as he recounted the events of the evening. "Man, today was awesome. The crowd was wilder than ever," he remarked with a grin, the memory of the cheering crowd still fresh in his mind. But even amidst the excitement, his thoughts returned to the absence of your presence in the crowd. His smile faltered slightly, and he rolled over to your side, propping himself up on his elbows as he studied your face. "Hey, why weren't you there?" he prodded gently, poking your leg in an attempt to draw your attention. "You should've been watching me," he added, his tone laced with playful admonishment.
His eyes flickered down to the book in your lap, a faint frown creasing his brow. Was it because of studies? Sure, you were a better student than him, but the academic responsibilities often pulled you away from the excitement of his world. Was college really more important than his concert? Actually, yeah, it probably was. Childe shook his head, refusing to be selfish. "You missed out," he continued, a mischievous smirk playing on his lips as he sought to distract himself from his disappointment. "The fangirls were practically throwing themselves at me," he boasted with a grin, closed his eyes and relishing in the imagined jealousy he hoped to provoke in you. "You know, you should consider yourself lucky. Not everyone gets to share a dorm with a celebrity like me."
Even though he forced a grin on his face, his disappointment persisted. He couldn't quite grasp why this bothered him anyway. Not having you there to watch him perform felt... wrong.
