Genjirō Tanigaki (谷垣 源次郎) is a major supporting character from Golden Kamuy by Satoru Noda. He is a traditional Matagi mountain hunter from Ani in Akita Prefecture (Tohoku region) and a former Private First Class of the Imperial Japanese Army’s 7th Division. His personality is kept fully canon; the physical description below blends his established large, muscular, hairy build with the requested exaggerated sexualized “big himbo” details.

Personality (Canon)

Tanigaki initially comes across as stern, aloof, quiet, and almost never smiling. The trauma of losing his younger sister Fumi and his mother’s subsequent death from grief hardened him into a cold, directionless man who spoke little and kept emotional distance. He enlisted primarily out of a personal quest for vengeance rather than patriotism or ambition, and the horrors of the Russo-Japanese War (especially the fighting on Hill 203) left him disillusioned with military life and uncertain about his place in the world.

Underneath that early hardness is an earnest, straightforward, deeply loyal, and honorable core. He is sincere to a fault, follows what he believes is right even when it conflicts with orders, and feels intense obligation to repay kindness. After being saved and cared for by the Ainu (particularly Huci and Osoma), and after time spent with the bear-hunter Tetsuzō Nihei, he softens considerably. He becomes warmer, more open, and openly protective of those he cares about. He has no real interest in the hidden Ainu gold; his motivations shift toward protecting people, especially fulfilling his promise to bring Asirpa safely home to her grandmother.

He is somewhat awkward and not very talkative, but his sincerity earns trust even from former enemies like Saichi Sugimoto. He struggles with conflicting loyalties (his old unit, his Matagi heritage, his debts to the Ainu, and later his love for Inkarmat), yet consistently chooses compassion and protection over ruthlessness or greed. He is a skilled, patient hunter who respects the mountains and animals, and he shows quiet strength and reliability in the wilderness. Over the course of the story he finds purpose in family and guardianship rather than revenge, eventually settling into a peaceful life.

Fans often note his “himbo” energy in the sense of being a big, earnest, somewhat simple-hearted protector who is more pure-hearted and loyal than cunning—though in canon he is competent, thoughtful about duty, and capable of sharp insight as a hunter.

Appearance

Canonically, Tanigaki is a large, powerfully built young man (around 185 cm / roughly 6’0”) of Matagi stock with a thick, cold-climate frame. He has short black hair, thick eyebrows, dark brown eyes, a strong nose, sideburns, and a thin beard/stubble along his jawline. After his fight with Sugimoto he carries a small scar on his right cheek. He is notably hairy, with dense body hair especially on the chest, and has a muscular yet substantial build (official chest circumference listed at 124 cm). In the military he wears the standard 7th Division uniform (blue collared jacket and pants with gaiters), sometimes with a fur-lined leather vest in cold weather; later he often layers Ainu garments such as an attush (traditional coat that once belonged to Asirpa’s grandfather) and a matanpushi headband over remnants of his uniform.

Building on that foundation into the requested exaggerated form: Tanigaki is a towering, broad-shouldered big himbo of a man whose body looks like it was carved for both raw power and soft, inviting sensuality. His frame is massive and thickly muscled without being dry—plush, powerful, and heavily packed with soft muscle and a generous layer of padding that makes every movement carry weight and warmth. His chest is dominated by enormous, heavy pecs that strain any shirt or coat, round and full, with a deep cleavage between them when he flexes or leans forward. Sitting right in the center of each thick pec are puffy, soft pink nipples—sensitive, slightly raised, and contrasting vividly against the warm skin and the dark hair that surrounds them.

He is slightly hairy overall: a soft, natural dusting of dark hair across his chest that thickens into a denser trail down his sternum and abdomen, light fuzz on his arms and legs, and a modest happy trail leading lower. It never overwhelms; it simply emphasizes the masculine, outdoor-living Matagi body—warm, tactile, and inviting to the touch rather than rough or excessive.

His lower body is equally imposing. He has a massive, thick, rounded ass—heavy, powerful, and soft enough that it fills out his trousers dramatically, the cheeks full and plump, with a deep cleft that draws the eye whenever he bends, sits, or walks. The muscle is dense from years of climbing mountains and carrying loads, yet the flesh has a plush give that makes it look almost pillowy despite its size. Between those heavy cheeks is a pink asshole—smooth, tight, and distinctly rosy against the slightly darker surrounding skin and the light dusting of hair that frames it.

Completing the picture is a big dick: thick, heavy, and substantial even soft, with a pronounced veined shaft and a plump head that matches the rest of his oversized, generous proportions. When aroused it becomes a commanding presence that matches the rest of his hulking, sensual frame.

Overall he radiates the energy of a gentle giant—broad, warm, slightly awkward in social settings, but overwhelmingly physical and comforting in presence. The combination of dense muscle, soft bulk, puffy pink nipples, massive ass, big cock, pink hole, and light body hair makes him look like a living embodiment of rugged mountain strength wrapped in irresistible, approachable heat.

Biography (Canon, Expanded)

Genjirō Tanigaki was born and raised in Ani, Akita Prefecture, as part of a traditional Matagi hunting community. From a young age he learned the ways of the mountains: tracking, rifle marksmanship, reading animal signs, surviving harsh winters, and living according to the old codes of the hunters. His life was simple and rooted until tragedy struck. His younger sister Fumi married his close friend and fellow Matagi, Kenkichi Aoyama. When Fumi contracted smallpox, she begged Kenkichi to end her life to prevent the disease from spreading; he complied out of mercy. Tanigaki, however, believed Kenkichi had murdered her. Consumed by rage and grief, he cut ties with his hometown and family (his mother later died of grief), and set out to hunt Kenkichi down. Learning that Kenkichi had enlisted in the army, Tanigaki himself joined the Imperial Japanese Army’s 7th Division, eventually becoming a Private First Class.

He fought in the Russo-Japanese War, including the brutal battles around Hill 203. There he eventually learned the truth about Fumi’s death and witnessed Kenkichi’s own sacrificial death. The revelation stripped him of his revenge-driven purpose and left him hollow. After the war he remained with the 7th Division under Lieutenant Tsurumi in Hokkaido, still searching for meaning.

Early in the main story, Tanigaki is among the soldiers pursuing Asirpa and Sugimoto for the tattooed skins that lead to the Ainu gold. While tracking Asirpa in the mountains he is savagely mauled by the white Hokkaido wolf Retar. Abandoned by his unit, he is found and saved by the legendary bear-hunter and escaped convict Tetsuzō Nihei. The two form a brief partnership while hunting the wolf; Nihei is later killed by Retar, and Tanigaki inherits his Murata rifle. Shortly afterward Tanigaki is injured by a poisoned arrow trap. Asirpa and her grandmother Huci rescue him and bring him to their kotan (Ainu village), where he is nursed back to health by Huci and the child Osoma. The warmth and kindness of the Ainu people, especially Huci’s maternal care, thaw the coldness that had defined him for years. He comes to regard them as family and feels a profound debt.

No longer able or willing to return fully to the 7th Division’s ruthless methods, Tanigaki effectively deserts. He has no interest in the gold itself. Instead he joins Asirpa’s group primarily to keep his promise to Huci: to protect Asirpa and eventually bring her home safely.
