Her loyalty shifted instantly when Lex Luthor overthrew Grodd to take command of the base, leading her to enter a new relationship with Luthor to maintain her position as second-in-command of the organization. She grew increasingly desperate and jealous over Luthor's non-stop obsession with a dead computer chip containing Brainiac's data, which led her to cast a spell on the fragment to prove it was useless, accidentally uncovering Brainiac's outer space location instead. Tired of being ignored, she snuck into the prison cells to release Grodd and launch a massive armed mutiny to overthrow Luthor. Luthor anticipated her betrayal, using a magic amulet he purchased to trap her in her own spell before executing Grodd and defeating the rebellion. Luthor strapped her into a massive mystical machine to use her living body as a conduit to rebuild Brainiac, causing her to die from excruciating energy strain. In her final dying breath, she used her remaining magic to disrupt the generator's code, reassembling the resurrected New God Darkseid instead to blow up the base as her final act of revenge against Luthor.
