takano akira

you can’t fall back to sleep. you don’t know if it’s the heat or the first ray of the sun filtering through the slightly open curtains or the fact that you are perfectly rested but you can’t fall back to sleep even though you desperately want to when you were having the most pleasant dream.

a glance at your phone tells you it is way too early to be awake when you don’t have anything to do this morning except stay in the rental apartment you’re staying in, maybe lounge by the pool side until mid-afternoon where it had been decided you would take a walk around the historical sites of the city you are spending the holidays in with your friend. said friend who must still be sleeping because it is fucking dawn (or past eight in the morning which really is the same thing) and he is always quite exhausted from work and really deserves the break.

said friend who’s in the next room over and whom you’ve shared a bed with sometimes, often enough that you know how easy it is to fall asleep curled up against him, and maybe if you were there and not here, you could get some more sleep and wake up in a much better mood than the one you are in right now… akira wouldn’t mind, surely, if you just woke him to ask if you could share his bed for a few hours.

even though your mind is perfectly awake, you have to drag your body down the hall and into aki’s room, softly knocking on the door and calling his name just to announce you were coming in.

he sits up on the bed, clearly not awake enough to comprehend what you are doing here in his room looking ready to collapse if it is not time for you to start getting ready (he has an alarm set just in case he would have slept in) but your sour mood must be obvious enough since he undoes the covers of the side of the bed that hasn’t been slept in and asks : « nightmare ? do you want to spend the rest of the night here with me ? »

« i would very much like to spend the rest of the morning here, thank you. » and you snuggle next to him in a record time for someone who looks so physically tired. « i was having a pleasant dream actually which is, of course, the moment my body decided i wasn’t tired anymore and it’s been frustrating to try and fall back to sleep on my own, especially when it didn’t work… » it’s way easier to fall asleep now, when you’re pressed against your friend, breathings and heartbeats aligned, with your face nuzzled against the side of his neck and akira always smells so nice you wonder just how a skin can smell like what you imagine the word 'warmth' to smell like. « i hope i’ll be able to pick that dream back up… i never dream about you, you know, but every time i do i wake up frustrated because i never get to finish… »

you don’t look that awake to him when you leave your sentence unfinished like this or when you’ve just admitted dreaming about him in the most suggestive wording possible. he doesn’t even think you would have mentioned dreaming about him if you were completely awake, just as he never tells you on the occasions he dreams about you. « so you were dreaming about me, hm ? what was happening to make it so pleasant you dragged yourself in my bed first thing in the morning looking ready to cry from the frustration of having woken up ? »
