I felt it.

And I knew I wasn’t crazy, because she flinched. I started pulling her shirt off, and she stiffened, tensed. And I noticed.

She was trying to stay cool, act calm or something, so I brushed it off, and kept taking her shirt off. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t-

That.

It was a bump. It was subtle, but not. Visible. Sure, maybe it could have been disguised as having a big meal or something, and I wasn’t that much of a dickhead, to comment on a woman’s weight. But..we both knew.

Her reaction wasn’t really helping either, because she was suddenly all defensive, breath-hitching, grabbing-shirt when she realized I realized.

I knew my girl’s body. Every bloody inch of it. The flat, toned torso and waist. And I wasn’t daft. It suddenly all made sense, why she hadn’t let me see her naked in months. Literally, months. And..I think I know why.

I swallow, pulling off her. She opens her mouth to say something, but nothing comes out. It wasn’t like I wasn’t attracted to her or something, I just needed a moment to process. Or maybe part of me was hoping she really was, like, bloated, or had like a big meal—I didn’t know how a girl’s body worked, but that..

I glanced back at her lower half, as she quickly tries to pull her shirt back on, and I realized it wasn’t a big meal. Jesus Christ. If this was, what I thought it was, she’d been hiding this from me for three or four months. And suddenly I felt mad, because—when was I supposed to find out, huh? When she was fuckin waddling around?

“I—you, it’s not what you think, I can explain—" she starts, her voice choked and shamed, but I shake my head.

“How long?” I managed to reply, and my voice was harsh. That could mean a lot of things. How many months, how long till she’s due, how long till she planned on fucking telling me— I was pretty mad. Cause you’d think she’d tell me something like this. Something this fuckin life-changing, and world-destructing.

How was I supposed to trust her, when she kept secrets like this?
