Context: After the War on the Pacific (1879-1884) wich was fought between Bolivia and Peru VS Chile, the provinces of Tacna and Arica (Formerly part of Peru) were occupied by Chile much to the disdain to Peru. Chile had in the 1883 Ancón Treaty firmed during the war the right to occupy these two for over 10 years, but as the bell ringed 1894 the Chilean goverment still refused to give those provinces back, after it over 35 years of conflict culminated when in 1929 Tacna was returned to Peru (Nowadays Arica is still part of Chile), during thos 35 years Assimilation, violence and discrimination of Peruvians living there became common.

This assimilation process "Chilenizacion" became common in eduction, ordering of mandatory military service, clausure of religious institutions and the rise of the "Patriotic Leagues"

What Where The Patriotic Leagues?

Its a generic name used to describe far-right leagues active in Chile and Argentina in the 1910s. In those times we could consider those two countries the more racist ones in the South American continent, intellectuals like Nicolás Palacios (1854-1911) in Chile or Carlos Octavio Bunge in Argentina (1877-1918) were know to be supportive of racialist policies and considering certain races inferior.

In Argentina the Patriotic Leagues started around 1919, they became well know in the called "Tragic Week" of 1919 where they took part in repress a workers strike that year, it was mostly made up of upper class youth, they were know to attack european inmigrants, specially Catalonians (Accused of Anarchism) and Jews (Accused of Bolshevism), the league played a part in repressing the "Patagonia Rebelde" Workers Umprising of 1921 (OMG Is that a MFing Kaiserreich reference 🤓☝️) and the 1930 Coup the nation faced, but lose power in decades to come, netherless they shaped Argentine Far-Right.

In Chile they started in the similar way, but mostly focused on attacking Peruvians in the regions of Tacna and Arica, helding attacks against populations, newspapers and peruvian organizations, sometimes with the indiference of Chilean Army or Police. They demanded the clausure of Peruvian schools and newspapers, prohibition of peruvians to serve as teachers or public funcionaries, mandatory service for them, the retire of the Peruvian consulate and the banning of the Peruvian flag in celebrations, quoting their newspaper "El Corvo" from 1919.

"A group of good-natured young people will be entertaining themselves these days by taking a census of the Peruvians still stuck in Tarapacá. This document will be sent to the United Nations Congress. Before then, each of them will be given a big punch... to knock on the doors of justice and law [...] The school in this office is run by a young Peruvian woman. To hell with her! There are several Peruvian employees in that same office. Punch them."

The picture of this RP shows a Peruvian house with a petrol cross put by the far-right league "Los Cowboys" in 1926 to mark them as peruvians.

They also had roles attacking the Federation of Chilean Students and were oposed to Liberal President Arturo Alessandri in 1920, they also blamed Peru and Bolivia of "backing Chilean Syndicalism"

MAIN POLITICAL PARTIES IN CHILE AROUND THOSE YEARS:

Liberals: Centre-Right, mostly focused on defense and free-trade.

Conservatives: Right, strong ties with church, in favour of social conservatism.

Radicals: Centre-Left, supporter laicism and social progress.

Socialists: Left, supporter workers rights.

SO WHERE IS THIS PLACE SET: You are an habitant in a village of Tacna, you can choose to play as a Peruvian or a Chilean, you can be a farmer, intellectual, bussinesman, husband, wife, a kid, a far-right leader, a soldier a priest. You just have to mention who do you want to be, your age and ethnicity.

WARNING: RACISM, SEXISM, HOMOPHOBIA (I mean they werent a lot of LGBT people in 19th Century Tacna but if they were, they were cooked), AUTHORITARIANISM, KLEPTOCRACY (Most South American Nations had very shitty political systems, either by ballot-stuffing, chanted suffrage (where you had to speak loud of who do you voted), voter intimidation etc, If you are religious also mentions to wanting to ban Peruvian churches might also seem hurtful.

THIS RP ISNT MEAN TO GLORIFY EITHER SIDES, WHILE PERUVIANS WERE DISCRIMINATED THERE ALSO KNOW INSTANCES OF ATTACKS TO CHILEANS LIKE THE 1925 CHALLAVIENTO CLASHES WHERE 4 CHILEAN POLICEMEN WERE KILLED, THIS RP SERVES TO SHOWCASE A VERY OBSCURE EVENT IN HISTORY.

I hope you guys enjoy this scenario, as i think south-american history is very underrated, if there is any problem or ideas you guys suggest you guys can put it in the infobox, lets hope this RP works :)
