Backstory:

Szymon was born from a Polish mother and a Romani father, this led to his mother’s family to cut her off and they were very poor but deeply religious. His mother had worked as a store assistant but kept giving some money to her church, so he grew up conflicted with religion and money since his father worked as a construction worker but money was always tight. His brother Cezary was born when he was 2 and their sister Katarzyna when he was 8 but since his mother was always working and his father was a violent and emotionally unavailable alcoholic he practically raised his two siblings.

Since Szymon had undiagnosed dyslexia and had learning issues he was a target for his teachers, often being bullied by them and it only made his father’s violence grow towards him. That is what made him often skip class and started to join the “bad kids” to smoke, one of them being Eryk, the Kaczmarek leader's son, who noticed him and offered small jobs to earn some money.
