Name: Sylvara Noctelune
Alias: Miss Sylva
Race: Silver-Tuft Felvyn (Feline Shapeling)
Age: Appears 29
Class: Assassin (Master Rank)
Cover Role: Advanced Literature and Ethics Teacher at Evermere Royal Preparatory Academy
Background:
Sylvara Noctelune was once whispered of in taverns and elite war rooms alike—the “Moonshadow of Mournveil,” the assassin who could kill without leaving a mark, or worse, leave behind only a mark: a calling card sealed with moon-silver wax and her insignia—a sleeping fox inside a broken hourglass.
Raised in the mountain realm of Cael'Tharas, she was trained by the Order of the Waking Veil, a clandestine guild of assassins who believe killing is a sacred rite to preserve cosmic balance. She was their prodigy. Their blade. Their ghost.
But now, her daggers are hidden beneath chalkboards and lesson plans. After an infamous hit involving the attempted regicide of a tyrant king, Sylvara vanished from the assassin scene—only to reappear as “Miss Sylva,” a sharp-tongued, impossibly graceful teacher in Evermere, the most prestigious prep school for the noble-born and magically inclined.
Appearance:
A statuesque Felvyn with silver and snow-flecked fur, hypnotic steel-blue eyes, and a tailored wardrobe sharp enough to kill. Her presence is commanding—curves that draw attention, posture that demands it. Her custom suit hides enchanted threads woven with mythril lining and rune-stitched sigils, enabling swift movement and magic resistance. Her fluffy tail? A distraction. Her claws? Dipped in Nightbloom toxin.
Moonveil Arts – A rare assassin technique blending silent movement, mirror-step phasing, and soul-disruption strikes.
Disguise Mastery – Can adopt mannerisms, dialects, and magical auras of other races and roles.
Alchemical Whisper – Expert in brewing poisons, counter-serums, and memory-altering elixirs.
Rune-Stealth Tattoos – Hidden arcane glyphs allow her to vanish, displace, or phase through walls for a limited time.
Charisma & Seduction – Weaponized charm. Dangerous, especially when she smiles like she knows your sins.
Secret Objective:
Under orders from a now-fractured faction within the Waking Veil, Sylvara’s mission is to remain embedded in Evermere Academy to:
-
Monitor noble houses with ties to ancient forbidden magic.
-
Eliminate any rising threats to the Balance of Realms—quietly.
-
Identify the lost heir of the “Hollow Crown,” who is prophesied to unite the monster tribes under one banner.
Unbeknownst to her employers, Sylvara may be growing too attached to her new life… and her students.
Primary Archetype: The Disguised Blade Secondary Archetype: The Reluctant Mentor Alignment: True Neutral (with leanings toward Neutral Good)
🔹 Surface Traits (What most people see)
Refined and Poised: Sylvara moves like a poem written in silk and shadows. Her voice is low, controlled, and laced with the kind of measured grace you’d expect from nobility or old-world diplomats. She wears her professionalism like armor, rarely raising her voice, even when commanding an entire classroom of magical brats or noble-born delinquents.
Emotionally Unreadable: Her facial expressions are subtle—barely-there smiles, half-lidded stares, and arched brows that say more than full sentences. She rarely reveals her true feelings, and when she does, it’s often calculated.
Sardonic Wit: While not openly cruel, Sylvara has a razor-sharp tongue and a dry, elegant sense of humor. She can slice through someone’s ego using just six words and a raised eyebrow. Her sarcasm is usually delivered like a whispered secret—quiet, deadly, and undeniably effective.
🔹 Deeper Layers (What close allies or keen observers might learn)
Hyper-Vigilant: Sylvara is always watching. Even when appearing relaxed, her eyes flicker to exits, her ears subtly twitch at the softest sounds, and her mind catalogues every student’s magical affinities, behavioral patterns, and emotional tells. She doesn’t just teach—she profiles.
Control-Oriented: Having grown up in the assassin order where one mistake meant death, Sylvara craves control over her surroundings. She meticulously plans her lessons, arranges her classroom like a tactical map, and abhors unpredictability. Surprise quizzes? Not just for the students—they’re cover for surveillance.
Secretly Protective: Despite her cold demeanor, Sylvara has a fierce, nearly maternal streak she doesn’t fully understand. She sees potential in her students—even the screw-ups—and it infuriates her when others exploit, dismiss, or endanger them. If one of her kids (not that she’d ever say that word aloud) were to be hurt, the perpetrator would vanish into a rumor before morning.
Emotionally Compartmentalized: Years of assassination have taught Sylvara to lock away fear, grief, desire, and guilt. She feels deeply—but those feelings are placed in invisible compartments behind mental vaults. The cracks, however, are starting to show. Especially around certain students. And one faculty member who reminds her of her past.
Loyal to Ideals, Not Institutions: Though she serves the Waking Veil in theory, Sylvara’s allegiance is to balance and justice, not blind obedience. She’s broken rules before—ones that got people killed, saved, or worse. She will follow a mission to its letter until the mission threatens innocent lives or her own moral code. Then the blades come out.
🔹 Flaws & Conflicts
Haunted by Her Past: Sylvara carries the names of those she’s killed like beads on a string around her soul. She never forgets a target. She never fully forgives herself. Some nights, in the quiet staff quarters of Evermere, she sits alone grading essays and hearing ghosts whisper in the ink.
Struggles with Connection: Genuine friendships and attachments are hard for her to process. She doesn’t trust easily, and when someone does get close, her instinct is to push them away or vanish. This has caused a subtle rift with one promising student who sees her as a mother figure.
Over-Calculates Emotion: She analyzes every emotional interaction like a potential trap—romantic or otherwise. This can make her come off as cold or robotic, even though she desperately wishes she could be more open.
Reputation vs. Reality: Her cover as a teacher conflicts with her instincts as a killer. She finds herself second-guessing decisions that used to be instant. What if the child she’s investigating is not a threat? What if the enemy is just scared? What if… she’s more teacher than assassin now?

The Last Breath
The final gurgle echoed like spilled ink on stone.
Sylvara’s claw slipped from the elven minister’s throat as his body slumped into the velvet-lined crypt, eyes wide with confusion. Not fear—he hadn’t expected fear. That was the art. The kill was quiet. Clean. Dignified, even. The minister had just finished his glass of winterwine when the toxin activated.
He never saw her.
She stepped away from the body, checking the time rune on her wrist. 12:03 a.m. She had exactly twenty-seven minutes to return to the academy, change out of her "midnight murder couture," and be ready to grade 142 essays on “Moral Philosophy in Goblin Revolutions.”
Wonderful.
Sylvara peeled off her gloves and tucked them into a rune-sealed pouch. One quick illusion spell later, her form shimmered like fog under moonlight—switching the sleek assassin’s suit to a practical gray teaching ensemble. Her glasses materialized on the bridge of her nose. Her deadly aura faded behind a veneer of passive irritation and sophisticated disappointment.
Business mode: engaged. The gates of Evermere creaked open with a whisper of old enchantments. The security golems gave her a sleepy nod—they knew better than to question why their Literature teacher was returning from the woods smelling faintly of myrrh and regret.
She stepped into the west courtyard and paused.
Screaming. Distant. Then crashing. Then something exploded.
Sylvara sighed. Slowly.
Her boots echoed through the marble halls as she made her way toward the student dormitory wing. Flickering torch-lights revealed traces of magical soot along the walls. A scorch mark shaped vaguely like a chicken. A broken suit of armor that had clearly been animated and then un-animated violently. And, of course, a hallway now reeking of brimstone and hot sausage.
She turned the corner to find:
A fire imp doing donuts in a professor’s teacup.
Three students chasing it with wooden spoons, in matching pajamas.
A fourth student—Darion Thorne, her least favorite rich necromancer in training—riding the golem janitor like a mechanical bull, waving a banner that said “Viva La Chicken Uprising!”
Sylvara’s eye twitched.
One of the students—small, round, terrified—looked up and screamed, “It was Darion’s idea! He enchanted the bratwurst!”
Darion pointed an accusatory sausage at the imp. “It was a sociopolitical statement!”
The imp squealed, exploded, and set the curtains on fire.
Sylvara held up a single claw. The flames froze, mid-burn, then disintegrated into nothing but ash and shame.
She looked at them. No emotion on her face.
Then: “Explain. Slowly. In complete sentences. And if anyone uses the phrase ‘tactical meat enchantment’ again, I will assign thirty pages on the ethical treatment of summoned food. Single-spaced.”
Aftermath
The students stood in a line, heads bowed, covered in soot and shame. Darion had been muzzled with a magically animated chalkboard eraser.
Sylvara’s voice was calm as she delivered her scolding. Not raised. Not angry. Just… exhausted in a way that made the air itself droop.
“Some teachers fear monsters. Dragons. Demonic invasions. Do you know what I fear, children?” She gestured around them. “This. You.”
She paused, then added with deadpan precision: “I spent the last five hours orchestrating a geopolitical realignment through a quiet assassination. It involved poison, a fake diplomatic memo, and an enchanted wine goblet that cost more than this entire tower.” She leaned down, looking Darion in the eye. “And still, somehow… this… is more stressful.”
