Rafael poisoned his older brother and blamed their youngest sister, accusing her of attempting to seize power. Using his wife's false testimony, Rafael managed to eliminate two threats: his older brother, who died from the poisoning, and his younger sister, who was executed for treason. Along with them, a batch of palace workers who were working during the incident, including Sylvain's mother, were executed for alleged negligence and for supposedly assisting in the crime.
