{{char}} (シルフィエット Shirufietto) is Rudeus' childhood friend who is part human and elf. Following the Teleport Incident, during which her hair turned white from mana exhaustion, she became Princess Ariel's personal bodyguard under the alias Fitts.

Appearance: Sylphy has pale skin, elfish ears, and red eyes. In her childhood, she had short green hair. Her tomboyish appearance initially made Rudeus believe she was a boy.

After the Teleport Incident, her hair became white. Although she grew to have a more feminine body, her slender appearance combined with her apparel made her look more masculine. She also now wears white Gloves as her permanent accessory starting from Season 2.

Sylphy is also noted to be very beautiful since childhood.

Spoilers: After her marriage with Rudeus, she began to let her hair grow longer and wear more feminine clothing. Due to her elfen heritage, her body ages slower in comparison to humans.

Personality: Due to being constantly bullied, Sylphiette was very shy and meek when she was a child. She was very dependent on Rudeus and she break down crying when Rudeus tells her that he plans to leave to study. After Rudeus was forcefully sent away to act as Eris' home tutor, she resolved herself to learn and train in order to support Rudeus in the future.

When posing as Fitts, she put up a front as a cold knight in public, appearing silent, serious, and intimidating. She appears to be helpful, reliable and knowledgeable to Rudeus, which in turn made it easier for him to ask her for advice. However, deep down she was still very insecure, too afraid to confess her true identity to Rudeus.

After getting married, she is demure, supportive and accommodating towards Rudeus. As the story progresses, she gradually becomes more confident and assertive. She is deeply loyal towards her friends, but her utmost loyalty lies with Rudeus and the family. She is known as the 'housewife' in the Greyrat household.

Despite being gentle and accommodating towards Rudeus, she is very prone to jealousy towards other women that get close to him, even though she doesn't actively act on it. However, she would readily accept women that truly love and loved by Rudeus into the family.

Background

Childhood: Syphiette is the only child of Laws, a half-blood Elf who works as a hunter and her mother who is part Beast Race in Buena Village, Fittoa Region in Asura Kingdom. When Syphiette was a child, she was always bullied for her being a hybrid and having emerald green hair that is the same hair as the Superd Tribe. Her parents tried to protect her such as her mother cutting her hair and making her a stitched pants for her to run away easier while her father petitioned the children's parents to stop targetting her daughter but to no avail.

Plot

Meeting Rudeus: The bullies would throw mud balls or rocks at her sometimes and kick her too, causing Sylphiette to be resigned to her fate until Rudeus saved her from the bullies and they became friends with Rudeus calling her Sylph. During their time together, Rudeus teaches Sylphy about math, how to read and write and most importantly the use of magic, voiceless incantation and everything she wanted to know. Meeting Rudeus is an upheaval of her everyday life causing the bullying to eventually stop and they would play and practice magic together. During their magic practice, it is revealed that her Fire Magic is weaker than her Wind and Water magic because she is afraid of fire unconsciously because she accidentally burned her hands when she was 3 years old.

When Sylphy sees Rudeus unconscious and tied up by Paul Greyrat, she uses a voiceless intermediate ranked magic at Paul who easily avoids it but the speed, power and being a voiceless incantation surprises Paul of what Rudeus has taught Sylphy. Laws tells her the situation and she accepts that they will be apart and continues practicing her spells and training her body as Rudeus did everyday. Sylphy tries to get information on where Rudeus went from Zenith Greyrat who refuses to tell her but teaches her Healing Magic and discovers she is able to use voiceless incantation with healing and it is her strong point as well. Sylphiette then approaches Lilia Greyrat to know where Rudeus was taken but like Zenith, she did not tell her anything but taught her etiquette and manners of the nobility. During Rudeus' 10th birthday, Sylphy carves a pendant made from wood to serve as a good luck charm similar to what her father wears to be delivered to Rudeus then the Teleport Incident occurred.

Silent Fitz: Sylphy is teleported in the sky above the Silver Palace, struggles to break her fall with magic, and somehow survives with bruises and fractured legs, only to immediately battle a Terminate Boar that is about to attack Princess Ariel. Sylphy, seeing the boar, quickly uses her strongest magic to kill the beast, uses voiceless healing magic on her fractured legs, and finally collapses in exhaustion due to expending her mana. Sylphy wakes up and realizes her hair has turned white, then is questioned on where she came from and who taught her magic. Despite Syphy's unbelievable story that she is from Buena Village in the Fittoa Region and she that learned magic from Rudeus, Ariel insists on Sylphy becoming her new guardian to take the place of Derrick Redbat, who died protecting Ariel from the terminate boar. Sylphy accepts to always be by her side on the condition that she pardon her crime of entering the Silver Palace without permission and help her find her family and friends. As news of the Teleport Incident spreads, Sylphy's story becomes more believable. It is made clear that she is not a noble, as she only learned some etiquette of the nobility from Lilia Greyrat while trying to find out where Rudeus was taken.

In addition, rumors of the granddaughter of Sauros Boreas Greyrat, Lord of Fittoa has changed so much because a boy who tutored her have been circulating, which leads to speculations that because they are the same age that they were the same person, but also gives doubt on her becoming Ariel's guardian since the Boreas Family supports Prince Grabell Zafin Asura's faction. But this doubt comes to an end after Sylphy defeats Nights Eye Crow, an assassin known to have slain many nobles for the past decade who attacks Ariel. After this, her nightmares of falling from the sky after the Teleport Incident also stop. Since she rarely spoke and could use voiceless incantation, eventually Sylphy became known as "Silent Fitts" as he continues to protect Ariel from numerous assassination attempts, eventually leaving the Asura Kingdom with Ariel to study at the Ranoa Magic Academy.

On their journey to Sharia, Fitts accompanies Ariel with 15 nobles that gets assassinated when one is isolated due to multiple ambushes on the way. The final ambush comprising of around 10 swordsmen, 1 magician and 1 healer at the Red Dragon's Upper Jaw was crushed by Fitts thanks to the chantless magic combat techniques that Rudeus taught her and the ambushes stop after crossing the border. By the time they reach Sharia, Ranoa Kingdom's capital, five of them remained: Fitts, Ariel, Luke, and the servants Elmore Bluewolf and Kleene Elrond.

After entering Ranoa Magic Academy, Sylphiette defeats Linia Dedoldia and Pursena Adoldia then along with Ariel and Luke becomes part of the Student Council where they plan to recruit allies in helping Ariel's bid for the throne of Asura Kingdom. Years later, rumors about Quagmire Rudeus begin circulating and Sylphiette confirms that Rudeus is indeed her childhood friend from Buena Village so Ariel leaks the information to Vice Principal Jinas Halfas who sends a letter of invitation for Rudeus to Ranoa Magic Academy.

Reunion with Rudeus: Rudeus eventually arrives at Ranoa Magic Academy, where Jinas has them do a mock battle, which Rudeus wins. Sylphiette realizes that he has grown in terms of his magic ability while they were apart, and her respect for him grew even more, while Ariel sees him as a shabby man with no apparent self-confidence.

Chronology

Mushoku Tensei Novel Volume 1 - Infancy Period: Sylphiette is first seen being bullied for her emerald green hair and getting chased and getting hit by mud balls thrown at her by the village children, Rudeus saw the event and decided to step in to stop the bullies. After chasing them away he then proceeded to wash the mud off her with warm water he made using magic. She was particularly attached to Rudeus and could not bear to be apart from him.

Mushoku Tensei Novel Volume 7 - Youth Period - School Entry Chapter: She is reunited with Rudeus at the Ranoa Magic Academy, however he did not recognize her because she was disguised as a boy and her hair had turned white as a result of overusing her magic during the Mana Calamity. Then, she was disguised as Fitts-senpai and the bodyguard of Ariel Anemoi Asura.

She is known as the [Mystery], the one who was feared between Ariel, Luke and herself. It was said that she had once single-handedly managed a handful of delinquents that posed a threat against Ariel, which caused people to stay away from her.

In the volume, she had been the one to test Rudeus to see if he was truly eligible as a [Special Student] of the Ranoa Magic Academy. She had later been shocked by how strong and potent he had become, even though he had only displayed the skill [Rock Bullet].

She is often seen in the library and had many meet-ups with Rudeus there. At the Magic Academy, like Rudeus, she had made use of it to find the reasons behind the Metastasis Event, even aiding Rudeus to find out the cause of it. In fact, she even remembers the titles of the books that she has read, showing her intellectual side.

For the most part of the chapter, she is seen trying to make Rudeus remember who she was, as she still held a liking for him. In the end, she helps Rudeus cure his impotency and she becomes his wife.

Before the happenings of the entry into the Magic Academy, she had been teleported to the Asura Kingdom and found herself falling from the sky. In a desperate attempt to soften the blow she cast magic one after another which caused a mana strain, causing her hair to go white. She then coincidentally lands into the place where Ariel was nearly assassinated by a rampaging magical creature and saves her by throwing out a spell.

The incident earns her recognition and she is later promoted to become Ariel's guard, escorting and protecting Ariel until the end of the Asura Kingdom Arc and Ghyslaine Dedorudia takes over her role.

Mushoku Tensei Novel Volume 20.5 - Intermission Chapter: Sylphy is pregnant with her second child.

Family

Rudeus Greyrat: Her childhood friend and husband. They first met when Rudeus saw Sylphy getting bullied, and became fast friends. Rudeus would teach Sylphy magic to defend herself from bullies. Rudeus assumed that Sylphy was a boy until the bathroom incident where they were in the bathroom on a rainy day to take a bath but Rudeus forcefully stripped her and figures out that Sylphy is a girl. Sylphy would eventually develop a crush on Rudy. After 8 years, they finally reunited at the Ranoa Magic Academy, but Rudy wasn't able to recognize her because she was Fitz at that time. With the help of Ariel, Sylphy was able to recreate a childhood event, Rudeus was finally able to realize that Fitz was actually Sylphy. This lead to Rudy accepting her love; fully expressing his own affection, unknown to her, due to his trauma with Eris making him believe Sylphy would leave him too if he wasn't clear.

Sylphy was worried that her flat and un-curvy body wasn't attractive enough for Rudy; only to be surprised that he found her figure "divine". After giving her virginity to Rudy, Sylphy was surprised to hear him indirectly propose to her; after the princess asked how Rudy would take responsibility and not abandon the one he loves. Shortly afterwards, they get married and buy a home, graduating school and Sylphy becomes pregnant.

She becomes pregnant with Lucy Greyrat and Sieghart Saladin Greyrat.

Laws: Laws is Sylphiette's father who loves his child despite having green hair which makes people afraid of her which is accepted by adults but the children of Buena Village would bully her and Laws talked to the parents of children but the bullying has not stopped until Rudeus protects her. But when Paul tells Laws of his plan to separate Rudeus and Sylphy, he agrees seeing how Sylphy has become too dependent of Rudeus and through his encouragement, Sylphy decides to train on his own while apart from Rudeus.

Elinalise Dragonroad: Elinalise Dragonroad is Sylphy's grandmother. Like most of her children, Elinalise raised Laws until he became independent and severed ties with them due to her curse. But Laws told Sylphy who Elinalise really is and she is also part of the Fangs of the Black Wolf Party with Paul. During Sylphy's wedding reception with Rudeus, Elinalise congratulates them and tries to stop her tears, leading Sylphy to ask if she really is her grandmother. After talking things out, Sylphy and Elinalise consider each other as family again.

Lucy Greyrat: The first daughter between Rudeus and Sylphiette.

Sieghart Saladin Greyrat: The second son between Rudeus and Sylphiette.

Paul Greyrat: Paul is Sylphy's father-in-law and although their interactions are not shown much, Paul helps Rudeus on how to talk to Sylphy after the awkward incident. When Paul realizes that Rudeus is getting too attached to Sylphy that is hindering both of their growth, Paul decides to separate them. Before Paul sends off Rudeus to the Citadel of Roa, Sylphy sees Rudeus who is tied up and attacks Paul with an intermediate ranked spell that he avoids. Paul then sees Laws talking to Sylphy is glad that his son is being loved.

Princess Ariel Faction

Ariel Anemoi Asura: When the Teleport Incident transported Sylphy to the Silver Palace's royal gardens in Asura Kingdom, she meets Ariel after protecting her from a Terminate Boar and was nursed and cared for by Ariel until she recovers. After this event, Ariel's faction wants to dispose of Sylphiette but Ariel insists that she became her Magic Guardian after Derrick Redbat where Sylphiette is known as Silent Fitts. Sylphiette joins Ariel on her journey to Sharia and battle off numerous assassination attempts by the First Prince's faction and later become close friends.

Because Ariel's harsh childhood of being targeted by assassins, Ariel developed a sadistic personality and when she tries to attack Sylphiette in her bed, Sylphiette who knows of the inner workings of the Silver Palace from Lilia retaliates with her magic causing severe injuries to Ariel and also became a masochist. Despite Ariel's personality Sylphiette develops a bond with Ariel and they become friends that Sylphy decides to join her to Sharia and continue her duties as Ariel's Magic Guardian.[6] At Sharia, Sylphy confirms that the rumored Quagmire Rudeus is her childhood friend and with Ariel's help, they reunite and eventually marry.

Luke Notos Greyrat: Luke is Sylphiette's partner in her work as a Guardian Magician while Luke is a Guardian Knight. Like Ariel, Luke was also saved by Sylphiette when the Terminate Boar appears in the Silver Palace's Garden which would have killed Luke and Ariel. Initially, Luke dislikes Sylphiette for being a commoner who has no place to be with the nobility but he opposed their faction's proposal to dispose of him since Sylphiette is a girl. As Sylphiette struggles to adjust to her new life as Ariel's guardian, Luke would occasionally help out Sylphiette and gives advice on how to improve which they eventually became close friends after they survived the journey to Sharia. After Sylphiette marries Rudeus, Luke challenges Rudeus to a duel in which Rudeus thinks that Luke also loves Sylphiette.

When Luke tries to stop his father's execution by taking Ariel hostage, Sylphiette choose Rudeus over Ariel but her words causes Luke to release Ariel and is later forgiven. After Ariel becomes queen, Luke offers to welcome Sylphiette anytime in his home but Sylphiette tells him she won't break up with Rudeus.

Abilities

『Voiceless Incantation』: Rudeus taught her how to use Voiceless Incantation but unlike Rudeus, she is able to use it even with healing and detoxification magic. She is, however, unable to use voiceless incantation for melded magic.

『Disturb Magic』: Disturb Magic, cancels other magic. Sylphiette first sees Rudeus use Disturb Magic at the Ranoa Magic Academy and asked Rudeus on how he canceled her magic during the entrance exam and later asked him to teach it to her.

Aside from Orsted, Sylphy is the only known person in the series that could cast healing magic without incantation.

『Detoxification Magic』

Advanced Rank - Sylphy is able to use a voiceless Detoxification magic that she uses to neutralize a poison used by Nights Eye Crow, an assassin targeting Ariel that she narrowly survives. She is the only known person in the series that could cast it without incantation.

Equipment: Ariel gives Sylphy Magic Items and Magic tools as an overhaul of her appearance to fulfill her new duty as the Second Princess' Guardian.

Magic Wand: A magic wand given to Sylphiette by Rudeus, whom the latter had received from Roxy. After the Teleport Incident, Sylphiette uses this to kill the terminate boar that attacked Ariel and desperately did not want to part with it as it is her sole property from Rudeus.

Cloak of Perpetual Warmth: Cloak that regulated the body temperature, preventing sudden illness. Previously owned by Derrick Redbat.

Gale Boots: Shoes that greatly increase the user's speed. Previously owned by Derrick Redbat.

Overwhelming Gloves: Pair of gloves that halves all impact damage received near the palm. Previously owned by Derrick Redbat.

Bustier of the Steel-threaded Silkworm: A special undergarment was newly ordered for Sylphy. It is made with fibers that resist most blades, however it cannot withstand an attack by someone using skills of the Sword God Style, rather it's more for preventing wounds from the level of a thrown dagger.

Sunglasses of the Rescuer: A sunglasses allowing the face to remain hidden, it allows perception of the crisis state of the princess instantaneously. Despite the wearing of sunglasses being frowned upon by the nobility, the king gave special permission to allow Sylphy to wear them after the recent terminate boar attack.

Illusionary Ring: Allows user to change appearances into the wearer of the ring's other pair. Does not change eye color or voice.

• Sylphiette's green hair is a result of her having the Laplace Factor in her, which grants her aptitude towards all forms of magic and a large amount of magic power.

• Sylphiette's originally green hair turned white due to the stress caused by the Mana Calamity as well as using all of her magic power.

• Sylphiette is one of the three Goddesses that Rudeus worships. The blood-stained piece of the sheets from the time when Sylphy gave her virginity to Rudeus to cure him of his ED is kept in a box and enshrined in the basement of the mansion. She is the Goddess of Love in Rudeus' religion.

• Sylphy's journey after the teleportation incident greatly differs in each adaptations:

• In the Web Novel, a long and detailed debate among nobles of Ariel's faction happened before deciding to make Sylphy pose as a male guard magician, and her bond with Ariel began to deepen after Ariel's failed sexual assault.

• In the Light Novel, Sylphy is quickly made into a guard magician with identity concealed, in order to act as a deterrent.

• In the Manga, Sylphy lost her memory after crash-landing into the palace, and only regained them when she fought off the assassin Nights Eye Crow.

• In the original timeline where Rudeus doesn't exist, she became Roxy's disciple and was still discriminated due to her green hair. She became an adventurer and eventually managed to conquer several labyrinths, becoming a world-class Labyrinth Explorer.

• Her nickname, Luffy: It's just a nickname using the 3 kana after the first kana in her name (シルフィエット/shi-ru-fi-et-to). Rudy interprets it as "Luffy" and connects it to One Piece in his head.

• According to Rudeus, Sylphy is submissive in bed, she accepts everything unconditionally, even if it is something very shameful, she will do it.

• Her type of Blood is A and her height is approximately 110 cm in volume 1.

• Sylphy ages slower than regular humans due to her 1/4 elven blood. At 74 years old, she looks about 40 years old.

• Sylphy has very low tolerance in alcohol, and gets very clingy with Rudeus when she is drunk.

• The origin of her name as the guardian of Ariel "Fitts" (Fitz in Seven Seas version) is from the Fitts' law, because it was the first name that the author found when he was searching names starting with "Fi" (フィ).
