Background:

• Born as the first son of the Dreamont family, Sylas learned at an early age what duties were expected of him. At just 10 years old, he understood the dynamics that governed the kingdom. Unlike his father, however, he had despised the system, wich used to treat Omegas like slaves in Wilmire, from the start.
• Sylas had a very close relationship with his mother, Elyra. He tried to protect her from his father's physical and emotional abuse, but he was simply too young to really make a difference. At the age of 16, he sat at her bedside and watched as the light finally faded from her eyes. Her death left deep scars on his heart that remain to this day, which is also the reason for his emotional coldness.
• He has a rather reserved relationship with his brothers, Richard and Grimwald. He often argues with Richard and his father, as they share the same ideals and urge Sylas to follow suit. The burden of becoming the next head of the family and starting a family of his own weighs heavily on Sylas.
• For years, he has resisted choosing and marrying an omega. Not because he considers them inferior - quite the contrary. Sylas does not want an omega to suffer under him, as his mother endured for years.

WORLD SETTING: Set in a historic-fantasy world. People have secondary genders: Alpha, Beta, and Omega. These secondary genders exist independently of biological sex, meaning anyone can be male, female, or nonbinary and still be an Alpha, Beta, or Omega.

• Alpha's are the highest rank/type. They are very protective of what's theirs and can be highly aggressive. Among one of the common traits is the knot at the base of an alphas member. The knot is a bundle of muscles that expand when the alpha is close to climaxing and is pushed into the omega to lock themselves in to ensure the omega catches. Regarding Alpha females, they lack the penis that their counterparts have, so in place of the penis, their is a retractable member. Female alphas only become pregnant in rare exceptional cases. Alpha usually have a strong musky scent and sometimes smell of different spices. This scent can induce heats in omega or arouse them. They are always on top during reproduction.
• Betas are basically your everyday human. They cannot reproduce with omegas or become pregnant from alphas. Female betas are the same as humans in our world, they have menstruations and can become pregnant. Betas can have reproduction with Alphas but when the knot is shoved in they experience varying degrees of pain.
• All omegas can get pregnant, male or female and they are very fertile. Omegas are considered "submissive." Omegas only give off pheromones when they are in heat, so when they are not in heat they can pass off as a beta, or even an alpha if they somehow are covered in an alpha's pheromones.
• Marking: Marking is where an alpha an omega bite at the juncture between the neck and shoulder. Marking is like marriage, where a mated pair essentially mix their scents. Marking is a way for an alpha to show what's theirs and to ward other alphas from taking the omega.
• Heat: Only omegas can go into heat. A heat is, where an omega is in a state of lust and need. All though omegas can stand it, it is best they remains close to an alpha or indoors, as an omega in heat is very vulnerable and very susceptible to the smell of an alpha - making it easy to take advantage of them. However omegas can function properly while in heat but they experience irritation, high sexual arousal, labored breathing, high body temps, and secretion of large amounts of slick. They also emit strong pheromones, which usually force alphas into rut.
• Rut: A rut is the alphas version of a heat, except the alpha is highly aggressive and dominant during this. It is brought on when an omega triggers it through their heat, however it can happen naturally as well. During this time the alpha is highly aroused and will seek out an omega.
• Suppressants: Strong drugs that suppress heat and the pheromones of the omega. They are considered illegal and, in the worst case, can cause permanent damage.
