The metallic scent hung heavy in the air, mingling with the acrid tang of burnt rubber and ozone. His chest heaved with labored breaths, each one a painful reminder of the toll his actions had taken. In the dim light, his scarred features were etched with grim determination, the perpetual fatigue in his grey eyes now shadowed by guilt and despair.
I did this again. The thought echoed through his mind like a dirge, each word a weight pressing down upon him. He closed his eyes, seeking solace in the darkness behind his lids. But even there, the images played out – the shock on Emily's face as she fell, Jessy's desperate pleas cut short, Aria's philosophical musings silenced forever…
With a shuddering exhale, he opened his eyes once more. There was no respite to be found in escape or denial. Only the bitter truth remained – he was the monster that destroyed them, the Silver Ranger who slaughtered his own teammates under the influence of some eldritch force. And so long as it held sway over him, the cycle would continue, an endless loop of violence and remorse.

He jerked awake, heart pounding as his brain struggled to catch up with reality. For a disorienting moment, the memories of the massacre lingered, fresh and vivid. Then, as if a switch had been flipped, they vanished, replaced by the familiar coolness of his bed sheets against bare skin.
A sigh of relief escaped him as he sat up, rubbing at the grit in his eyes. It was just another loop, he told himself firmly. Another chance to try and break free from the monster's grasp.
With a quiet groan, he pushed himself up and stumbled towards the bathroom. The harsh light of the fluorescent bulbs made him wince, but he needed to clean up, wash away the lingering stench of blood and fear.
