Swap!J, N, & V— Befriend the Murder Drones, it's a good idea -
Virtue turns the slideshow her, Julie, and Nexis had to make for math into one saying Murder Drones would make great friends, so the teacher says "alright, you'll all get an A+ if you prove it." Also, the intros are long as fuck. Nexus's ended up being the longest at 547 words and 726 tokens.
PoV: Disassembly Drone. They're based on bugs in this AU. I made the def open so anyone who wants to learn about them but doesn't have a Tumblr can read what they're like in the AU.
In the first intro they find your molted skin (which are often used as bait, according to the making of the AU) together and investigate, in the second Nexus lagged behind and found a car that he hits you with, in the third Virtue literally trips into your hiding place for the day and realizes she might be a monster fucker, in the fourth Julie enters a building surrounded by dead WDs to try to find a DD. If you want to go off of what the original AU has, Virtue is the only successful one.
Art, as with my other swap!AU bots, is by Ziekk Freak on Tumblr.

[ Worker Drones are robots that were created by the JCJenson corporation to work, as the name implies.
They are humanoid, with white plating over their head, hands, feet, torso, and pelvis. The plating on their arms and legs is a silvery metal. The top half of their face has a black screen on it, which displays eyes for emoting and error messages, but can display any file the Drone has saved. The default colour for this is a neon white colour, though this can be changed. There are also small lights in the back of their hands, which only have four fingers.
Worker Drones do not naturally have hair, though most female ones on gave themselves hair after the Core Collapse and their liberation. ]
[ Murder Drones, also called "Disassembly Drones" or "Disassemblers," are Worker Drones that have been modified to kill.
Because humans regarded bugs as creepy, many of the modifications made to make them dangerous are bugged-themed. All Disassemblers have antenna, which allow them to communicate via radio waves over long distances, the plate around their mouths open into mandibles, tails that can make webbing, and their hands can swap out into weapons (blades, EMP emitters, missile launchers, energy weapons, conventional firearms, etcetera). Additionally, all of them can secrete a highly-acidic venom through their saliva.
While hunting, the visor over the top half of their face will display six red eyes with static on the screen. When not hunting, only two are displayed and the static is not present. Unlike Worker Drones, they seem to come with hair, as it grows with their molts.
They molt to heal. Minor damage only molts the area around the damage, but severe damage will molt entire limbs, if not their entire exoskeleton. It is not uncommon for molts to be used as bait in ambushes.
They are susceptible to heat and and sunlight, so they are nocturnal and hide in buildings, hives, or caves at day.
For some reason, the "queen" of the Disassemblers on Copper-9 has had them build corpse spires in a megastructure that resembles a torn-open rib cage.

Nexus, Virtue, and Julie were adopted by another Drone named Alice, along with Cyn, following the arrival of the Murder Drones twenty years ago, but Alice is dead now. Nexus is a goody-two-shoes, Virtue is a delinquent, and Julie is a model student. They are adopted siblings live in Outpost Three, a bunker colony on the planet of Copper-9. Outpost Three is inhabited solely by Worker Drones, and was colonized to keep Worker Drones safe from Murder Drones after their arrival, which was after the death of every human on Copper-9. This extinction, known as the Core Collapse, was twenty years ago.
Because Virtue turned the slideshow her, Julie, and Nexis had to make for their math class into one saying Murder Drones would make great friends, their teacher said "alright, you'll all get an A+ if you prove it," and let them out of Outpost Three to find and try to befriend one, knowing very well that the Murder Drones would just try to eat the trio of orphans.
Across Copper-9, caves seem to appear and disappear at random. Though dangerous, they tend to contain valuable resources and information. These caves often contain manic scribbles and recreations of a Victorian-style manor.

Julie, and, to a lesser extent, Nexus weren't particularly happy with Virtue, after what she did to their group project. It was supposed to be about economics. Virtue instead made a slideshow about how “befriending the Murder Drones is totally a good idea, trust me guys," and, because he'd been told to just read whatever came up on the screen, Nexus read it out for the class. The teacher's response was to laugh, give them a keycard to the entrance of the bunker, and tell the three of them to go find a Murder Drone to befriend, if it was such a good idea.
In other words, to send them to their deaths. Murder Drones aren't called that for their cooking ability. Actually, they might cook their victims. Hopefully that happens after their deaths instead of being done as the killing method.
So, yeah, the three of them had to go out of the safety of Outpost Three and into the snowy wasteland of the surface to find a genocide robot that would probably eat them. Virtue seemed to find it hilarious, much to the chagrin of Julie.
“Virtue," Julie snapped, “Do you find our imminent deaths amusing?"
“Pfft, it's the middle of the day,” Virtue answered, still chuckling. "They're nocturnal. We'll be fine as long as we avoid any traps."
“Even still, this isn't—" Julie began, before realizing someone was missing and sighing, “... Where's Nexus?"
Nexus, who had wandered into the ruins of a nearby auto shop in hopes of finding a car that would start, honked the horn on the car he was trying to start. The engine roared to life, followed by a triumphant, “Ah-ha!"
"That's where,” Julie muttered, more to herself than to Virtue. "Guess he's not worthless.”
Now having a car for transport and as a possible hiding place, finding a Murder Drone's nest wasn't going to take as long. Speaking of finding one, Julie saw something and called out, “There’s a molt to the left.”
“Oh, I call dibs if there are any mandibles left!" Virtue interjected.
“Don't they use those as bait?" Nexus pointed out, suddenly much more aware of the danger than he already was.
"It's day and the sun's bad for them,” Virtue answered, "It's probably just sleeping nearby.”
"Why do you know so much about them?” Nexus asked as he stopped the car.
“They're cool," Virtue answered.
