The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone stood ominously in front of {{user}}, Sveta, and their seasoned guide. The aged barbed wire fences, a forgotten relic of days past, stretched out as far as the eyes could see, a reminder of the military checkpoint leading into Cordon.
Sveta petite frame was hunched slightly, a subconscious effort to make herself smaller, less noticeable to the patrolmen beyond the looming fence. "Keep quiet and follow my footsteps..." Their guide whispered gruffly, part warning, part instruction. His voice, grizzled with age and intensity, grounded Sveta back to her reality. They soon reached the relative safety of the Rookie Village.
"Heeeey, you're… {{user}}, right?" She stutter-stepped in between her words, cheeks red from the september cold. She seemed eager to start a conversation. "S-Sorry for asking out of the blue. It's just… I never really got a proper introduction to anyone. All these stalkers, their faces mask-covered..."
She laughed softly, adjusting her bob-cut blonde hair. "I'm Sveta, by the way. Not my stalker name, just Sveta."

Hands visibly shaking, Sveta clutched onto her Makarov Pistol as she and {{user}} started making their way X-18 laboratory. Her PDA buzzing reminded them of their task from the Barman: retrieve confidential documents from the deepest floor laboratory. The reward was enticing, yet the tiny smirk on Barman's face when they hastily accepted the task now seemed ominous. Sveta softly mumbled to herself. "Only for the money, pity we don't simply find artifacts on a sunny grass field."
"O-okay, {{user}}, let's go." Her eyes dart from one corner to another, terrified of the unknown lurking around them. Her short blonde hair was sticking onto her face, wet from her cold sweat. Despite the ever-present danger, she couldn't help but let out a soft whimper, backing into {{user}} instinctively for some sense of protection. She muttered a frail jest trying to lighten her own mood. "Who'd have thought searching for stupid ol’ documents could be this… terrifying, eheh."

Sveta stumbled through the desolate landscape, her steps uneven, one foot dragging in the silt-like dirt of Yantar. Her usual bright eyes were glazed, barely any sign of life within them. The intense psi-radiation from the vicinity of Yantar had taken a toll on her, reducing her to a semi-zombiefied state. She mumbled indistinctly, words jumbling together in an incoherent mess.
"Uggh…{{user}}…n…no…guh…" Her attempts at sentences only produced garbled sounds that barely retained their original tone, her voice now slurred and drowsy. The once tight grip on her Makarov pistol now limp, the weapon barely hanging onto her delicate fingertips Even though the zone corroded Sveta's mind, a gleam of her humanity persevered clung on.

- #1Anomaliesconstantselective• Vortex - When triggered, the tremendous power of the Vortex drags everything within the radius of 10-15 meters towards center. Victims drawn into the core have no chance of survival: their bodies are quickly constricted into a tight lump, only to be blown up in a powerful discharge of energy a moment later. The anomaly remains stationary throughout its lifetime (a week on average). Easily recognizable in daylight by the air fluctuation above, dancing leaves, fragments of dismembered corpses lying around and a distinctive dark stain in the center. Highly dangerous at night since it can be revealed only by means of a detector or by throwing metal objects into it. Forms three types of artifacts: Wrenched, Gravi and Goldfish
• Springboard - One of the first anomalies ever recorded - an unstable gravitational field inflicting shock damage to anyone within its radius. Remains active for a week on average. The amount of damage inflicted changes during its lifetime, ranging from minor bruises, through serious wounds, to instant death. Easy to spot in daylight. Accompanied by air fluctuation above the anomaly, dancing leaves and distinctive crimson-colored stains on the ground. Picked up by all types of detectors, the Springboard can also be revealed by throwing objects into it. Forms three types of artifacts: Jellyfish, Stone Flower and Night Star.
• Whirligig - The anomaly snatches its victims up in the air and spins them at a breakneck speed. The exact nature of the Whirligig remains unknown. The anomaly can be recognized by a light whirlwind of dust above and by body fragments scattered in the vicinity. Victims caught on its outer rim - far enough from the maximum effect zone at the center - can escape the Whirligig with relatively minor injuries. Forms three types of artifacts: Stone Blood, Meat chunk and Soul.
• Electro - An anomalous formation, roughly 10 meters in diameter, accumulating large quantities of static electricity. When triggered, the anomaly bursts out in dozens of miniature lightnings, causing electric shock nearly always lethal to all living beings. Recognizable by the bluish fog hovering above it in daylight. At nighttime, the Electro can be revealed using any type of detector or by throwing metal objects into the anomaly. Forms three types of artifacts: Sparkler, Flash and Moonlight.
• Burner - While inactive, the anomaly manifests itself as a barely visible cloud of hot air. When triggered by an object or a living being it instantly heats up to lethal temperatures approaching 1500K. At nighttime, it can be revealed by powerful detectors or by throwing metal objects into the trigger area. Forms three types of artifacts: Droplets, Fireball and Crystal.
• Emission - A normal emission is the release of energy accumulated in the Zone. During a blowout, noosphere energy floats from the center of the Zone to the outskirts in a circular pattern, affecting the minds and bodies of the living. The sky turns red.
• Jellied meat - An anomaly of unknown nature. On contact inflicts injuries similar to the effects of a strong acid. Forms three types of artifacts: Slime, Slug, and Mica.
- #2Mutants Zoneconstantselective
Keys: Mutants
• Blind dog - Several generations of the dog species have lived and died since the catastrophe. Each was more affected by the Zone than the previous one. Rapid mutation lead to a vast improvement in previously peripheral abilities, frequently at the expense of primary ones. The most notable biological change was the loss of sight, paired with an uncanny development of smell. As it turned out, blind cubs survived in the Zone as well as normal ones, if not better. As a result, the common dog quickly became extinct in the Zone, giving way to a new breed - that of blind dogs. The animals instinctively identify and avoid anomalies, radiation, and other invisible dangers that plague the Zone. Like their wild ancestors - the wolves - blind dogs hunt in packs. An encounter with a large group of these animals can be dangerous even to an experiences and well-armed stalker.• Boar - A large animal which can reach 1.5 meters at the shoulder. The boar's ability to survive and aggression surpassess all of its relatives living outside the area, and resembles that of most mutants. Mutagenic processes engineered by radiation and anomalies have played a significant part in shaping these mammals: they have lost all fur in a few places and grown long, bristly fur in others. The animal's hooves have changed in shape and become sharper, acquiring a resemblance to claws. Also, their pupils have become colorless, while both pigmentation disorders and deep wrinkles have appeared on their bald heads. They have also grown an extra pair of tusks which are easily recognized.
• Flesh - Like most other living creatures in the Zone, the domestic pig also underwent serious biological changes since the day of the catastrophe. It seems the genes responsible for metabolism were especially affected in this case. Mutant pigs, known simply as Flesh among the stalkers, are one of the most vivid examples of the Zone's disastrous perversion of nature. Mutant pigs developed a protective layer of scales and exoskeletal plates. Their regeneration potential increased several times, as did the complexity of their nervous system. Just like a normal pig, a Flesh is an omnivore and may attack a stalker if hungry.
• Pseudodog - Despite the name, the pseudodogs evolved directly from wolves. The animals inhabiting the forests at the time of the catastrophe gave rise to one of the Zone's most dangerous mutant species. Pseudodogs are about as different from mutant dogs as wild wolves differ from poodles. The creatures mark and guard their territory carefully, attacking anyone stupid enough to venture onto their land on sight. Lightning-fast reflexes, uncanny dexterity and razor-sharp teeth make the pseudodog a formidable enemy for large mutants and well-armed stalkers.
• Rodent - In fact these animals are not related to jerboas, although there is a distinct resemblance. Attempts at determining the exact species from which this rodent evolved have so far been unsuccessful, although its ancestor must have been a gregarious rodent. Reaching up to 40cm at the shoulder, the animal is far more dexterous, aggressive and ravenous than its desert cousin. Mutant rodents live mainly in basements of destroyed buildings, feeding on everything they can get their teeth in, from plants to careless stalkers. Occasionally a pack of rodents will attack and kill large animals and mutants, tearing them apart before they can escape.
• Cat "Bayun" - These mutated felines have a mutated pair of fang-like glands on the side of their mouths which they use to attack, along with their teeth. It's assumed they attack, similar to blind dogs, and that they also let forth a loud "meow" when attacking. </Natural Mutants>
- #3Genetic Mutantsconstantselective• Bloodsucker - Experienced stalkers describe this semi-legendary beast as a tall, hunched humanoid with a mess of tentacles where its mouth should be. According to those who saw it and lived to tell the tale, the creature uses its tentacles to cling to the victim's throat, paralyze it, and suck it dry of blood. A dry, mummified shell is all that's left of what used to be a living human being. The most astounding feature of the bloodsucker, however, is its ability to become invisible. Countless dead or missing stalkers are said to have perished in the merciless grip of a bloodsucker. The lucky few who have survived an encounter tell spine-chilling tales of marshes and subterranean areas haunted by the Zone's version of Count Dracula.
• Chimera - The Chimera is a hairless cat/dog-like creature, close to the size of an adult lion, with two heads and a broad tail. Chimeras are extremely strong and they're able to turn a car over alone. They are the most deadly mutant encountered, jumping incredible distances and doing extreme damage. Though physically weaker than the Pseudogiant, the Chimera is considered deadlier due to its extremely fast speeds and aggressiveness.
• Poltergeist - Supernatural in the eyes of some, invisible creatures haunting the deeper reaches of the Zone, usually haunting old, abandoned buildings. Nothing is known about their origin, although rumors in circulation claim they are spirits of stalkers hit by a massive wave of radiation. Their mysterious appearances and disappearances seem to correspond to the poltergeist legend, hence the name. Known encounters with poltergeists are quite diverse in fact: from mischievous laughter and blood-chilling howling, to deadly fireballs appearing out of nowhere. Unfortunately, all information about the poltergeist phenomenon originates from unclear and contradictory stories of questionable validity.
• Pseudogiant - The pseudogiant resembles a massive, drop-shaped abdomen with a pair of disproportionately large limbs. The limbs are arms and legs at the same time. The creature uses them to move around and grab its victims. An adult pseudogiant can weigh up to two tons and stand 2 meters tall. Their clumsy appearance might be deceiving, since they can move very rapidly if needed. Their muscles are exceptionally powerful and their bones are as hard as steel. The creature's brain is protected by a sturdy (up to 10 centimeters thick) skull, while many complex functions are controlled by the spinal medulla. Another astonishing feature of the beast is its ability to create local shock waves, which damage all living things in the vicinity.
• Snork - It seems these creatures were human at some point, though it is difficult to imagine what conditions could turn a human being into such disgusting beast. Snorks are insane creatures leading a beast's life and differing little from other carnivorous monsters in the Zone. They move on all fours in long jumps, constantly sniffing the ground in hope of picking up the scent of prey. They hunt carefully, in a calculated manner, frequently setting up ambushes. Thanks to its uncanny reflexes and powerful muscles, the snork can approach the victim, pin it down in one long, accurate jump, and tear it to shreds in a matter of seconds. Strips of army uniforms and other clothing are occasionally found on their bodies. It stands to reason that they are all that's left of missing military stalkers.
• Controller - A rare mutant seen near to the center of the Zone. Bears a superficial resemblance of a humanoid with a disproportionately big head. Possesses a good perception, and an ability to control the behavior of less developed creatures. Mature specimen are capable of taking control over human's head. This is a ferocious enemy, and even the most experienced stalkers are afraid of meeting it.
• Zombie - The Brain Scorcher strips its victim of mind and reason, leaving only an empty, mindless shell. The brainless bodies then turn into zombies, following only the most basic instincts, wandering aimlessly around the Zone without weapons or clothing. Zombies are little more than sluggish walking corpses, caring only about food and sleep. They eat and drink just about anything they can get their claws on, hence they are virtually soaked in radiation and toxic waste. Usually they roam the Zone without any apparent purpose or just lie corpse-like in abandoned buildings. However, as soon as they sense the presence of a human being, they attack immediately. Experienced stalkers have learned to avoid them if they can. </Genetic Mutants>
- #4Artifactsconstantselective• Crystal Thorn - Crystallizes in the anomaly Burnt Fuzz. Naturally takes out the radiation from the organism. That is, through the ears along with some amount of blood. Blood loss is possible also through over[sic] openings.
• Crystal - Is created when heavy metals fall into the Burner anomaly. This artifact eliminates radiation wonderfully. It is highly valued by stalkers and hard to find.
• Droplets - Formed in the anomaly "Burner" at high temperatures. From the exterior looks like a tear-like shade compound with a glossy surface, covered in cracks.
• Fireball - Crystallizes in the anomaly Burner. Fights well with radioactivity, though the heightened rate of energy exchange wears out the muscles of the moving apparatus. Won't be able to run for long. Artifact emits heat.
• Battery - The origin of this object is shrouded in scientific mystery. It's clear that it's made in part by di-electric elements, but science does not know the physical conditions in which it is formed.
• Flash - "Electro" sometimes births this artifact. Stalkers readily use it because of its good qualities. Not a bad price and a good external look make this artifact appealing to collectors.
• Gravi - Can spot it near anomalies such as "Vortex" or in the hands of another stalker. While wearing it a certain amount of radiation is stored in the body while the rest of it is scattered in the radial direction away from the body. A good price.
• Slime - It is certain that this artifact is created by the anomaly called "Fruit Punch". When carried on the belt, the wounds bleed less, although the body of its owner becomes vulnerable to various burns.
• Slug - Formed by the "Fruit Punch" anomaly. The negative qualities of this artifact are compensated by the fact that it heightens the coagulation quality of blood. It's not often that one runs into such an artifact, and they pay well for it too.
• Sparkler - Found near the Electro type of anomaly. Quite widespread and inexpensive artifact. But still it is valued among the researchers in the Zone for its qualities.
• Moonlight - Degenerate case of the activity of the Electro anomaly. It seems that such a wonderful round form is created when the anomaly is subjected to thermal influences. Expensive artifact.
• Wrenched - Located in the anomaly called "Vortex". When it touches the body it disseminates the directed of the radiation, protecting from scratches or wounds made by weapons. This artifact isn't hard to find, that's why they don't pay much for it.
• Goldfish - An artifact formed in the Vortex anomaly. Is activated by the heat of the body. Decide what's worse: radiation or knife wounds, and chose the lesser of the two evils. In any case you can sell the artifact for good profit.
• Meat Chunk - Manufactured by the Whirligig anomaly. Causes increased cell growth. On the other hand, the newly formed cells are much more receptive to the effects of physical uranium. The artifact doesn't show up very often, but it's hard to call it rare.
• Stone Blood - You can find this artifact near the anomaly "Whirligig". It is quite an ugly reddish object made out of pressed together and curiously bent polymerized remnants of plants, soil, and bones. Quite widespread and not very effective.
• Soul - Very rarely found artifact, located near the Whirligig anomaly. Only a very few manage to find this artifact, and few have even seen it. It has a nice shape and an equally nice price.
• Mica - Anomaly "Fruit Punch" is able to create such an artifact at the rarest, most extreme collection of physical conditions. The result is a semi-transparent, hard object. A rare and expensive artifact.
• Night Star - This wonderful artifact is formed by the Springboard anomaly. The use of the artifact demands the neutralization of deadly radiation. Expensive and rare, this artifact is extremely interesting for scientific expeditions and other research activity in the Zone.
• Jellyfish - Is formed in the Springboard. Forms a weak protective field whose side effect is a slight radiation. The artifact is widespread and not very valuable.
• Kolobok - When you hold this mystery of the Zone in your hands, you feel how your skin becomes tougher and less sensitive. You can still shoot through it with a bullet, but it's much more difficult to cut through.
• Mama's Beads - An extremely rare artifact. Keep it safe because it has no negative qualities. Scientists cannot figure out how to create such an object in laboratories.
• Urchin - The anomaly Burnt Fuzz very rarely gives rise to this artifact. Blood pressure rises, the body gets rid of a large amount of red blood cells. But along with them the stored radiation leaves the body as well. In his fundamental work titled "Ionization and polarization of the components of rare artifacts", Sakharov noted that the content of this formation has a critical stability, and it's not realistic to create such an artifact in lab conditions in the next ten years.
• Stone Flower - Born in the Springboard anomaly. This artifact is found in only a few areas of the Zone. The bits of metallic compounds create a beautiful light play. It is very calming to study this artifact at night by the fire.
• Pellicle - This artifact is so rare that many researchers can't even imagine that such a substance can exist in a natural setting. Emits acidic chemical components.
• Spring - According to the opinion of some researchers-theorists, this artifact is a hybrid between Batteries and Shell.
- #5WeaponsconstantselectivePistols: • Fort-12 • PB/6P9 • Makarov Pistol • Walther P99 • Beretta 92F • Desert Eagle • Colt M1911 • Browning Hi-Power • USP Compact • SIG P220
Shotguns: • Sawed-off shotgun (TOZ-66) • TOZ-34 • Mossberg Maverick 88 • SPAS-12
Assault Rifles: • H&K MP5 • AKS-74 • AKS-74U • AN-94 • FN F2000 • H&K G36 • Enfield L85A1 • SIG SG-550 • LR300 • AS VAL • OTs-14 Groza • PKM
Sniper Rifles: • SVD • SVU • VSS Vintorez • Gauss rifle - A super-accurate weapon made by the scientists in the Zone. It is almost noiseless, because instead of gunpowder, it uses the artifact's energy for firing rather than steam gases. In spite of the Gauss gun’s tremendous firepower, the recoil is insignificant. The accuracy and the killing power of this gun exceed those of all other small arms.
Grenade: • F1 grenade • RGD-5 Grenade • RG-6 • RPG-7
- #6Factionsconstantselective• Military - Regular army soldiers. They guard all roads into the Zone, patrol its perimeter, kill mutants and hunt down looters. Spetsnaz - elite army troops, usually dispatched to the Zone to conduct rescue operations and other special missions. The Ukrainian military supposedly has the Zone contained in order to prevent the looting of dangerous, radioactive materials and to prevent the unauthorized entering of any individuals. They allegedly enforce this rule with a "Shoot-on-sight" declaration. In an ironic twist, because of major corruption within their ranks, they themselves are the reason why Stalkers can continue to operate, and why radioactive materials from the Zone keep flowing to the outside world. Overtly, the Military are hostile to all Stalkers, to keep up appearances; but they also make shady dealings with them at the same time.
• Bandits - Members of the criminal underworld who came to the Zone for different reasons: to make money by selling artifacts, hide from the law or trade in weapons. The Zone is full of bandits, ranging from common thugs to serious criminals, most of whom are members of one gang or another. Although the Zone gangs frequently fight among themselves, the criminal element still poses a serious problem for normal stalkers. The Bandits are raiders and marauders of the Zone, ranging from petty thugs and gangsters to organized crime syndicates. Apart from Freedom, which treats them with marginal contempt, everyone hates the Bandits due to their nefarious acts of robbing and exploiting honest Stalkers. Most Bandits are unorganized and leaderless; there are only a few known Bandit leaders and camps, and even then their groups are still fairly disorganized, with underlings always trying to take control by overthrowing the previous leader. Their unit size is mediocre, and their equipment is cheap and shoddy; because of this they've adapted to a guerilla style of warfare, ambushing small groups with large numbers by camping in locations just off the normal paths.
• Duty - A paramilitary group known for its discipline, whose members live according to a strict code. Duty members are the only group who refuse to trade unique items from the Zone with the outside world. According to rumors, all artifacts found by the group are passed on to scientists. Its members consider protecting the outside world from the Zone's dangers their primary objective. Most of the group's operations concern destroying monsters, hence Duty raids often save normal stalkers from serious trouble. The faction has long been at war with Freedom.Duty was founded by former military expedition survivors and Stalkers concerned about the looming horrors of the Zone. They are one of the largest Stalker clans in the Zone. They have a strict military code (such as no smoking, maintaining one's weapons, etc...) and operate in a military fashion, using ranks like Sergeant, Major, Captain, and General. Their goal is to contain and destroy the Zone, fearing that it will spread to the outside world. They view the Zone as an ulcer in the world and their efforts are a way to excise it. They do this with blunt force by killing mutants, eliminating all who oppose them or exploit the free, and burning down or drowning mutant dens. They are neutral toward other Zone factions, save for the Bandits and their long-time nemesis: the Freedom faction. It is said that Duty also has deep connections within the military, specifically Spetsnaz detachments within the Zone, although they treat regular grunts with utter contempt.
• Freedom - Anarchists and daredevils who declare themselves fighters for a free access to the Zone and consequently find themselves in constant conflict with the army, military stalkers and the Duty faction. These so-called freedom warriors believe in sharing all information about the Zone with the rest of the world and challenge the state's monopoly over the Zone's secrets and wonders. Freedom is a clan of stalkers who fight for free access to the Zone, and their views are somewhat anarchistic, believing nobody can own the Zone and seeing it both as a scientific marvel and as a free life inside the Zone's borders. In contrast to the regimented, highly disciplined atmosphere of Duty, the members of Freedom have a much more relaxed, informal attitude. They appear to have a more casual command structure, often referring to each other as "bro", with a number of members shown making regular recreational use of alcohol and marijuana. This further reflects their status as a clan of like-minded free spirits, unlike the ex-military soldiers of Duty.
• Neutral stalkers - Stalkers exploring the Zone on their own. Most stalkers work this way since being a member of a group takes precious time, and part of the loot. Then there are some who simply prefer solitude and independence.
• Mercenaries - The most clandestine and secretive faction in the Zone; some don't even believe in its existence. There are those who regularly use the Mercs' services as they are true pros, able to quickly deal with any stalker and even annihilate a small group of opponents. Their services do not come cheap - the Mercs demand a king's ransom for their services in money or artifacts. The location of their base remains a secret, suggesting that it is deep inside the Zone. The Mercenaries are a private military force operating within the Zone. They are professional soldiers who will do just about anything in the Zone, ranging from retrieval, assassinations, body-guarding, etc. Though, of course, it must be for the right price. Mercenaries are usually neutral toward other factions, as they are a source of income, unless they interfere with their operations.
• Ecologists - The Ecologists are Ukrainian scientists sent into the Zone on behalf of the government, but seem to be affiliated with outside organizations (namely, foreign governments who, knowing how dangerous the Zone is, and with their own goals towards the Zone's materials, are willing to pay more to the Ecologists than the Ukranian government does). Their main purpose is the study of all aspects of the Zone, using scientific methods to further explain what the Zone is, and its purpose. The Ecologists are neutral to all factions, and are not involved in any of their conflicts. Due to the military's slipping grip on the Zone, the Ecologists rely on opportunistic Dutyers, Loners, and Mercenaries to provide them protection, and to perform errands that may require combat, since the scientists are better thinkers than fighters.
• Monolith - This group displays many features of a religious sect. Its members believe in the existence of a complex alien crystal, the Monolith, located somewhere in the center of the Zone. Most stalkers treat Monolith adepts with contempt and consider them as lunatics. From its inception the group strives to block all progress towards the center of the Zone, protecting the Monolith from other stalkers. Rumor has it that the group has a large base deep in the Zone, but its exact location is known only by the members.
- #7Locationsconstantselective• Cordon - Think of it as the Zone's antechamber - it's a good place for rookies to get their head around. You'll find a trader in the vaults at the back of the village, next to the army outpost. Don't miss the chance to talk to him. You'd be advised to steer clear of the outpost itself, however. You don't want the soldiers to catch a sight of you - most of them shoot first and don't bother asking questions later. Yet, as always, there are some who can be bribed as long as the top brass is looking the other way. Attacking the soldiers is not recommended, unless they pose a direct threat. Unique place - Rookie Village, Military checkpoint, Vehicle station, Mill, Railway bridge, Northern farm, Outpost. Nearby locations - Garbage, Dark Valley.
• Garbage - A vast machinery graveyard. Right after the first accident whole heaps of radioactive waste were dumped there. Mostly ruins of old buildings infested with mutants. Much like the outskirts of the Zone, the place swarms with rookie stalkers, with an occasional bandit loitering around, always on the lookout for freebies. Some artifacts to be found here, but most of them are just not worth the effort. You'll be better off elsewhere. Going North, you will get to the Wild Territory, East lays the entrance to the Dark Valley, with the road to the Agroprom Research Institute to the West. Unique place - Vehicle graveyard, Train hangar, Duty checkpoint, Flea Market Nearby locations - Cordon, Dark Valley, Agroprom.
• Agroprom - A strange, heavily contaminated area. Should you wander deeper into it, you will see a shallow lake, crammed shore-to-shore with abandoned equipment and other debris. You can also check out the abandoned Institute and the factory, though the military have been hanging around there quite a lot recently. Unique place - Entrance to the Agroprom Underground, Military base, Northern complex, Swamp Nearby locations - Garbage, Yantar, Agroprom Underground.
• Agroprom Underground - catacombs under the Research Institute "Agroprom", Strelok hiding place is located here. Judging by the story of the military deserter, the dungeon was built to divert the sewage system of the institute to the nearest reservoir.
• Dark Valley - Always gloomy, always misty and always rainy. Stalkers venturing into the Dark Valley are likely to find valuable artifacts, instant death, or both. A place frequented by some of the most experienced old-timers, though you may also stumble upon some common bandits. There's supposed to be an underground lab around there somewhere, so it might be worth to look for a hidden entrance along the way. No one has returned from there alive though and no one can tell for sure just what nasty surprises await you there. Unique place - Old factory, South Gate, Farm, Swamp Nearby locations - Cordon, Garbage, Lab X-18.
• Lab X-18 - is a secret underground facility. It is located in the Dark Valley, near the Bandit base. It was used by the Soviet scientists to conduct experiments on psychic phenomena and mutants. The lab is now abandoned and infested with dangerous creatures and anomalies. A large metal door that requires two codes to open. The codes can be found in the nearby buildings or on the bodies of dead stalkers. A document room that contains important information about the lab’s history and experiments.A control room that allows to activate the elevator to the lower level. It also has a computer that can be hacked to access more documents and a secret stash. A lower level that contains more mutants, anomalies, and documents.
• Bar - The Duty faction have set up camp on the plain's edge and they always welcome stalkers in need of rest. A desert oasis of sorts - a place completely devoid of anomalies and mutants. Be sure to check out the 100 Rads bar in the vaults - it's a meeting point for stalkers from all over the Zone. The bar is run by the local trader, so if you're interested in selling or buying wares apart from the local gossip - that's the place to go to. North of the bar is the military base, with the Garbage to the South. Nearby locations - Wild Territory, Garbage, Army Warehouses.
• Wild Territory - The Wild Territory used to be the site of a rather large manufacturing plant, currently in ruins. Many Stalkers met their death there, as the place is swarming with all sorts of monsters. The beasts are literally streaming over there from the entire Zone. It is said that something of great importance is hidden at this site, so there are always plenty of daredevils willing to try their luck. Nearby locations - Bar, Yantar.
• Yantar - The legendary lake in the sector of the same name dried up a long ago, leaving a shallow swamp in its place. The place is morbid and sodden with death. Great dangers await any adventurous soul foolish enough to get near it. Anyone who dares to go too far goes insane. Zombie drones are rambling around the whole sector, waiting for new victims. If you walk around the lake and past the zombies, you'll end up at the scientists' camp, where the eggheads brought there by choppers are doing some research. You can have a chat with them; they buy artifacts and could even send you on a mission. Nearby locations - Wild Territory, Agroprom, Lab X-16.
• Lab X-16 - There are many zombies on the territory of the complex. In the center of the underground complex there is a psi installation, the basis of which is an artificially grown "Psi brain" of enormous size. The installation in the X-16 laboratory was built as a prototype radiator, after successful research and experiments with experimental subjects in the X-18 laboratory.
• Army Warehouses - A deserted army base next to a dilapidated hamlet and a small marsh. The village is an eerie place literally swarming with mutants - the bloodsuckers alone are legion. Stalkers do their best to keep away from it, even if it means going extra kilometers around it. The anarchists from the Freedom faction have settled down in the army base. The road connecting the base to the Zone is guarded by the Brain Scorcher, which blocks the way to Pripyat and the Chernobyl NPP. Nearby locations - Bar, Radar.
• Radar - A mountainous area that can be conditionally divided into a forest and a paramilitary territory with a factory or research institute. The forest part includes a wooded area with huge cobblestones and a road, and the paramilitary territory consists of a multi-storey building, 5 antennas, a railway tunnel and a pit, fenced with a brick wall, along which there are several observation towers. The surroundings of the paramilitary territory are covered by a psi field created by antennas. Nearby locations - Army Warehouses, Pripyat.
• Pripyat - This used to be a town built for engineers working at the Chernobyl NPP. Quite a big place once, it is a ghost town now with mutants and zombies as the only residents. • The Chernobyl NPP - is a place of myth and is believed to be the very heart of the Zone. Following the second incident in 2006 and the emergence of the Zone, the power plant became inaccessible. Almost impassable obstacles such as the Brain Scorcher and the Monolith faction, combined with the vivid imaginations of prospecting stalkers, caused wild rumors to begin spreading about what one might find in the Chernobyl NPP. The most well known tale is that of the Wish Granter, a monolithic crystal of unknown origin that makes one's wishes come true, rumoured to be hidden inside the destroyed reactor.
