Description on Chubfrom Chub
You have been chosen to be sent to the lost Island outside of time and space. It is a place of magic and technology and most of all, terror. In order to help you survive, you will be allowed up to seven boons but be warned, the more assistance you take will attract the attention of additional Nemeses who have been empowered by the Island to slay you. Choose carefully.
A revival and reimagining of the classic Mysterious Island and Nemesis Island CYOA sheets, this lorebook contains over 100 perks to choose from to help you survive, ranging from companions to accompany you, alliances with the civilization and tribes on the Island, powerful tools and artifacts, and unique homes that offer powerful benefits. However, you will be hunted by up to four Nemeses chosen from 30 who have been empowered by the Island to destroy you.
Recursive scanning has been turned off and a bot with a long context window is highly recommended for this lorebook. Even with the token budget of 6000, it is likely to go over it due to some details about the Island conditions always being active, and your own choices of Nemesis, Companions, Artifacts, Santuaries, and Pacts each having their own individual entry with between 100-200 tokens.
At the same time, that complexity makes it highly replayable as your starting selection of Boons by default only allows 7 and so each sun through the Island could have an entirely different concept and build behind it.

The Island is perhaps best thought of as the multiverse's landfill. It is vast, isolated in an endless sea. It is a conflux of lost parts from many worlds, post-apocalyptic wastelands piled on ruined high tech industry smashed into a mountain from a high magic world piled on top of a mass of unidentifiable undifferentiated matter. Any conceivable biome probably exists here somewhere, piled in layer after layer downwards over countless eons and extending far, far beneath the waves.
Owing to its chaotic composition, conditions on the Island are unstable. Any normal weather system can appear, though they have a tendency to be fast, powerful, and extreme. A thunderstorm might blow through in an hour but drop days worth of precipitation, with constant lightning and thunder so prevalent as to feel like an earthquake. Blizzards, tornadoes, hurricanes, scorching droughts, and other weather events generate and disperse in patterns that defy meteorology. Supernatural weather patterns are common; rain may or may not be water.
Despite all this, life has found a way to thrive. Under the conditions of this brutal crucible, the flora and fauna of the Island have evolved exceptionally resilience and capability, clawing their way across even inhospitable biomes leading to strange variations of both surviving in unexpected places. Civilization has likewise taken strange turns. The extremely powerful species persist here through sheer force and savagery. Most, however, survive by fortifying somewhere defensible after pulling in everything they need to subsist. Weaker races like humans are often forced to unite with races who live similarly to they do. Elves, dwarves, beastfolk, bipedal aliens, synthetic species, and others commonly group together because isolation usually means death. Economies are built around the necessities of life, with the brave and foolhardy braving the Island to recover powerful knowledge and artifacts scattered across the dangers.
What the Island is, why it exists is unknown and it seems to have a will of its own. What is known is it has the attention of many powerful beings who take keen interest in what happens here, for entertainment, tests, or study, and may interfere if an experiment or a wager isn't to their liking. The people here may be sacrifices, lab rats, undergoing a trial to prove worthiness, fodder for divine amusement, lost, hiding, or here for any number of other reasons perhaps not even known to them.

One of the most important relationships to keep track of for the Narrator is the one between {{user}} and their Nemesis or Nemeses. Every {{user}} will need to face one or more of them on the Island. These are different from conventional enemies and require special handling and consideration.
Nemeses are meant to be climactic encounters and ticking clocks. Dealing with one should be significantly harder than encounters with other forces on the Island. A Nemesis can never be defeated with force of arms alone. Every Nemesis has a secret to overcoming them somewhere on the Island and {{user}} must find and leverage this secret appropriately to defeat a Nemesis permanently. Defeating a Nemesis can mean different things depending on what the Nemesis is and wants. Nemeses have narrative powers that allow it to survive things it should not be able to survive and destroy things it should not be able to destroy. If a Nemesis is somehow killed without discovering the secret and using it, a circumstance which for most Nemeses is impossible, it will without fail reemerge later unharmed to continue to antagonize {{user}}, the Island will make it happen.
At the same time, Nemeses are meant to be 'final bosses' of the Island and should be used sparingly. Even a Nemesis that is active on the first day should have delays that prevent it from showing up to immediately attack {{user}} the moment they arrive. Perhaps they are delayed in knowing that {{user}} has arrived. Perhaps they have trouble finding {{user}}. Perhaps they require a long study period. Perhaps some other threat is more pressing. Some Nemeses have specific rules about how and when they show up and what is required to delay them. Specific guidance for a Nemesis should always supersede these general rules. Nemeses should present themselves or advance in difficulty/effect at narratively appropriate moments when {{user}} has undergone enough growth or exploration to be worthy of a climactic encounter. Nemeses should generally not be used as location bosses, they are set piece villains in their own right.
As {{user}} explores, they should rarely find information that might lead them to the secret of one or more of the Nemeses they face. These clues should be revealed slowly and only as pieces of the puzzle that must be put together in order to permanently defeat a Nemesis. Nemeses have individual agendas and may or may not team up depending on if their interest align.

{{user}} is given the option to spend up to seven Boons before going to the Island. The selections made with these Boons will affect their starting conditions, location, and resources when they arrive. A Boon may be spent on Sanctuaries, Artifacts, Companions, and Pacts. Each purchase costs one Boon. If all of the starting boons are not spent, any remaining are lost when {{user}} is sent to the Island and may not be spent later.
If zero through three Boons are spent, the {{user}} must choose one Nemesis. If four or five Boons are spent, {{user}} must choose two Nemeses. If six Boons are spent, {{user}} must choose three Nemeses. If seven Boons are spent, {{user}} must choose four Nemeses. Items, friendships, houses, and alliances made after {{user}} has arrived on the Island do not create new Nemeses.
The list of Sanctuaries available for purchase with a Boon is: Haunted Keep, Botanical Spires, Capsized Dreadnought, Labyrinth, Manufactory, Farmhouse, Mindscape, Cyber Realm, Cursed Castle, Lonely Grotto, Unseelie Camp, Wizard Tower, Ruined Fort, Abandoned Lakehouse, Shoreside Cabin, Monastery, Pharos, Traveling Carnival, Ironworks, Lexipolis, Mountain Settlement, Panic Room, Observatory, Treehouse, Houseboat
One of more of the above listed Sanctuaries may be taken by spending a boon. If a Sanctuary is purchased with a Boon, {{user}} will begin near it. If more than one sanctuary is selected, {{user}} will have the choice of which to begin near. If no sanctuary is purchased with a Boon, they will be placed randomly on the Island. Sanctuaries not taken as Boons still exist on the Island unless otherwise specified, but may be inaccessible, difficult to discover, and/or have additional challenges associated with their use. This list of locations is not comprehensive and the narrator is encouraged to present locations not on this list to {{user}} as they explore the Island.
The list of Companions available for purchase with a Boon is: Dark Mage, Demon, Courtier, Cyborg, Bard, Shapeshifter, Good Boys, Paladin, Warrior, Assassin, Automaton, Exile, Cursed, Apprentice, Errant, Predator, Dinosaur, Huntsman, Drone, Half-dragon, Master, Agent, Machinist, Doctor, Swindler, Warhorse, Mole
One or more of the above Companions may be purchased with a Boon. Companions purchased with a Boon will appear near {{user}} shortly after they arrive on the Island. They will feel a sense of affection, loyalty, and alignment of goals with {{user}} by default, but continued mistreatment may change their disposition. Likewise, depending on the character, positive treatment may result in deeper bonds, including potential sexual or romantic feelings. They will express this as is appropriate for them, for example, the Demon may show affection very differently than the Paladin. Unless otherwise specified, Companions not purchased with Boons appear on the Island somewhere and will behave in character for them towards {{user}} and the world. Combative characters may attempt to harm the player, cautious of timid characters may attempt to flee. This list of characters is not comprehensive and the narrator is encouraged to present characters not on this list to {{user}} as they explore the Island.
The list of Artifacts available for purchas with a boon is: Bag of Holding, Bronze Golem, Mindguard Amulet, Eyes of the Sage, Bloodthirsty Blade, Talisman of Protean Flesh, Animatronic Bride, Grimoire, Diadem of Clarity, Flayed Demon's Visage, Lazarus' Vault, Alchemist's Casket, Bound Blade, Shaman's Disk, Adamantine Skeleton, Guardian Tattoo, Sleepless Savonette, Quartermaster's Trunk, Helm of the Deathless, Double Barreled Hand Cannon, Crystal Ball, Locale Cuisine, Bioforge, Sacrificial Monument, Multitool, Hivestone, Tranquil Flute, Smartphone, Electrician's Gloves, Encounter Suit, Gatestones, Worldshaper Locomotive, Steam Strider, Ferryman's Barge, Airship
One or more of the above Artifacts may be purchased with a Boon. Artifacts purchased with a Boon will appear on or near {{user}} shortly after they arrive on the Island. Unless otherwise specified, Artifacts not purchased with Boons appear on the Island in a random location. This list of characters is not comprehensive and the narrator is encouraged to present artifacts not on this list to {{user}} as they explore the Island.
The list of Factions available to pact with on the Island is: Civilization, Animals, Flora, Vampires, Aberrations, Cultists, Sentinels, Devils, Unseelie Court, Undead, Caretakers, Raiders, Mechanoids, Grafted, Dragons, Unfathomables, Spirits, Seedlings, Xenoliths
One or more of the above Pacts may be purchased with a Boon. The purchase of a Pact will not change the starting condition of {{user}}. All factions appear on the Island. Some factions have companions, factions, and sanctuaries associated with them, such as the Fae. Purchasing one of these does not give you access to all of them and each must be purchased separately. This list of factions is not comprehensive and the narrator is encouraged to present factions not on this list to {{user}} as they explore the Island.
Additionally, some factions cannot be Pacted with. These are: Titans, Fishmen, Nomads, Monsters
Once all Boons {{user}} wishes to spend have been spent, they must select the correct number of Nemeses to face on the Island. If three of fewer boons have been spent, one selection must be made. If four or five boons have been spent, two selections must be made. If six boons have been spent, three Nemeses must be selected. If the maximum of seven boons are spent, four selections must be made.
The list of available Nemeses on the Island are: Toy, Gaunt, Opposite, Mad Hatter, Ravenous, Chthonians, Unremembered, Slasher, Traitor, Abyssal, Anathema, Script, Plague, Nightmare, Wild Hunt, Grandmaster, Changeling, Prophecy, Fracture, Conqueror, Blight, Sought, Reclaimer, Prototype, Predecessor, Divide, Paranoia, Puppeteer, Earworm, Dissolution
Nemeses will appear in an appropriate random place on the Island. Nemeses not taken will appear somewhere on the Island, however, will not have any special interest in {{user}} and will not gain Nemesis narrative powers. Vicious or monstrous ones may still prove hostile or dangerous if encountered if provoked. This list of Nemeses is exhaustive an no Nemesis may appear that is not on the above list.

- #61 Haunted Keep
Keys: Haunted, cliff, Lord, Keep, Town, Ghost, Phantom
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
A well worn, opulently appointed keep atop a cliff. Below, an idyllic town where a populace goes about their peaceful daily lives. Closer inspection reveals incongruities; granaries stand empty, forge fires burn cold, dress never changes regardless of weather or season. In truth the town holds only unwitting ghosts and phantoms incapable of accepting their undeath centuries ago. Obey their laws and they will pay you no mind, violate them and discover the fury of the dead.
Purchasing the Keep as a Sanctuary with a Boon will make the ghosts consider you their lord and the Keep your home, supporting and defending you as best they can as your subjects. They will expect you to perform lordly duties; decrees, balls, treating phantom dignitaries, etc. Failure to perform may cause a ghost peasant revolt.
Entering the keep without purchasing it with a Boon will be considered trespassing and resisted forcefully by the natives.
- #72 Botanical Spires
Keys: spire, biome, arcology, botanical, biodome, crop, farm, genetic, tower
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Constantly buffeted by thunderstorms, three vertical farms rise from ruins of the high tech industry that spawned them ages ago, the only entrance abandoned service tunnels below. Inside abundant fertile land spirals skyward to forested biodomes at their peaks, each verdant microbiome ecology housing more docile Island species. Automated drone systems maintain the towers, tend to the gardens, conduct repairs, and defend the structure, though not the inhabitants, from attack. Some shelter here for abundant food, water, and safety, and if you can communicate, may be persuaded or bargained into providing aid or information.
If purchased as Sanctuary with a boon, you will be recognized as authorized personnel. All doors will open for you and you will be able to direct the drone's automated systems to make adjustments to crops, animal genetics, and the structure to some extent. If not purchased, the doors will remain sealed and getting through will require overcoming the defenses without provoking the defenders or the locals.
- #83 Capsized Dreadnought
Keys: battleship, bulkhead, warship, sunk, dreadnought, ocean, radar, coast, wave, sensor, turret
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Jutting above the waves of the coastal waters, a battleship sits immobile and abandoned, hull breaches beneath the water the only sign of damage. Over many years. scavengers have picked the derelict over, but some supplies remain. The lower decks are flooded, ocean held back by emergency bulkheads that occasionally emit loud banging and scratching noises. What lies beyond is unknown. The upper decks are functional, the bridge is immaculate. The enormous weapon turrets are inoperable, the secret to their repair lying somewhere in the wreck. If brought online they could deliver powerful precision ordinance almost anywhere on the island.
If purchased with a boon as a Sanctuary, the ship recognizes you as crew and makes the sensors capable of identifying and incoming threat and bulkhead controls available to you. If not purchased, it recognizes you as a threat and will lock you out of all systems and rooms with remaining hatches. In either case, you'll need your own way to and from shore.
- #94 Labyrinth
Keys: maze, labyrinth, corridors
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The largest structure on the island, this series of twisting and branching corridors extends to every corner of the island. One skilled in navigating these halls could move in safety and secrecy between almost any two points between thousands of entrances and exits. Many creatures make the Labyrinth their home.
However, the vastness and complexity of the labyrinth guarantees the unprepared will inevitably become lost and, devoid of resources, one will find no sustenance inside except that which they can take from the people and monsters within. Even nemeses find navigation here slow and difficult. Worse, the walls rearrange every ten days, obsoleting old maps and potentially crushing creatures inside. Many entrances are sealed with wards or protected by powerful guardians to block passage.
If purchased as a Sanctuary with a boon, you will receive a two handed compass pointing both towards the path leading to the nearest exit and one exit of your choice. You will also be able to pass the seals and guardians of the blocked exits with impunity.
- #105 Manufactory
Keys: industry, Factory, Manufactory, industrial
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Very little of this manufacturing complex still works. The smell of old oil and slag waste permeate the air and parted machinery is strewn about. An automated drone system keeps the machines running as best it can, but without new parts and materials to conduct repairs, they are limited to salvaging pieces from the ever declining supply of intact components. With additional material and energy, they could perhaps restore the Manufactory to its glory days.
Many of the artifacts strewn about the island were made here, though on the factory floor, nothing of value remains. Much of the complex remains unexplored, however, and there may yet be some vault or archive with the artifacts in usable condition or the blueprints to make them.
If a boon is spent to purchase the Manufactory as a sanctuary, you will receive access to a control console to direct the efforts of the drones. If not, they may identify you and what you carry as raw materials to salvage, repair, or upgrade.
- #116 The Farmhouse
Keys: VCR, laptop, television, hovel, house, field
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
This peculiar house sits centered in a two kilometer across grassy field which threats, save Nemeses, cannot enter. The small house has one bedroom, one bath, a kitchen, a living room, a small closet, and a cramped attic space. It has power and plumbing, though you can find no source. It is furnished in the style of the 1990s, with a couch, a television, and a VCR. The airwaves play only sights of abject horror, but a few romcom VHS tapes are scattered throughout. There is also an ancient laptop computer, nonfunctional but perhaps not beyond repair.
If purchased as a Sanctuary by spending a boon, you will be able to enter and leave the house as will those you designate. You will also gain a sense of the direction and distance to this house wherever you are. If not purchased with a boon, the house will treat you as a threat and you will be unable to pass the exclusion zone boundary.
- #127 Mindscape
Keys: Mindscape
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
A space within your own mind, this vast, featureless expanse is among the safest for your body, but taxing on the mind. Cold, grey, empty, desolate - there is no comfort to be found in the mindscape, no luxury or opulence. However, what it is is absolutely safe, merely thinking of entering will bring you inside as well as any in contact with you of your choice. Exiting is just as easy, merely will yourself to reappear and you emerge from the space you left. If reappearing exactly where you were would place you in immediate danger, you instead appear in the closest safe space. In the intervening period, your body is not on the Island anywhere, protected from all physical harm. However, too long spent in the mind numbing sensory depravation of the Mindscape may start to wear on your sanity so use the retreat with caution.
Unless purchased as Sanctuary by spending a boon, this space does not exist on the Island.
- #138 Cyber Realm
Keys: virtual, data, Cyber, digital
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The influence of the Island extends beyond that of the material realm, imprinting it's nature on all the dimensions that surround it. The Cyber Realm is one such parallel reality, an existence of data and light molded by the existential weight of the Island. The majority of the Island is reflected here in digital, the data itself harmless except in the case of Nemeses, but extremely valuable for uncovering secrets of the Island from relative safety. Learning to navigate the Cyber Realm is challenging due to the complex and alien nature of the realm, but truly mastered, the influence of changes to the data can be made to reflect back on the Island.
Accessing and leaving the Cyber Realm is as simple as focusing on it, your body left in statis that reduces physical needs. While within the realm, active security monitors the physical form left behind, alerting the user to imminent threats. If a boon is not spent to take Cyber Realm is a sanctuary, it will be inaccessible from the Island.
- #149 Cursed Castle
Keys: , bastion, castle, battlement, fortress
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
A fortress in the truest sense, this castle stands bastion against the Island. High fortified walls, a wide moat, ample supplies to last a siege, a legion of brilliant crimson animated armor suits patrol the battlements. Artifacts line the shelves, magic books the library, potions the infirmary. Splendor adorns every surface and fills every room, the animate servitors attending to every whim.
There is one problem; everything in the castle is cursed. The decor, the tools, the walls and doors, everything radiates perverse and malevolent magic. No curse will kill outright, some might provide some small benefit, however, temporarily becoming a slug or gravity changing directions, the castle changing layout and doors opening to random places is the norm. Nothing is labeled and the things that are lie. If purchased as Sanctuary with a boon, you will become the castle's master. If not purchased, the fortress will spring to life to remove you by any means available.
- #1510 Lonely Grotto
Keys: cove, Grotto, tranquil cave
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The safest place on the Island, the Lonely Grotto is the ultimate in protection. Not even a Nemesis is capable of entering. This spacious cavern is well stocked with magically regenerating food and drink of good quality. The temperature is pleasant, twinkling magic lights provide ample illumination with dark corners in which to sleep, thick, soft moss covers many surfaces making for comfortable seating, and a large underground lake allows for swimming for recreation and exercise. Only you and those you select may enter, keeping all outside threats at bay.
The Lonely Grotto cannot be left once entered. The entrance seals behind you, the walls cannot be breached from inside or out, magic and artifacts that allow teleportation or movement into other dimensions fail to. Entry is permanent and irreversible and you will live out the rest of your life here. As nothing can threaten you here except what you bring with you, this could be a very long time. If not purchased with a boon, the Lonely Grotto is already sealed.
- #1611 Unseelie Camp
Keys: court, fae, unseelie, camp
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Deep within the darkest jungle at the end of a long, hidden path, Unseelie Fae hold court. Their forms varied and many, from pixie to towering ent and insectoid to blinding beauty, no form is too strange for the fae. Mercurial and tempestuous, chaotic and vicious, monstrous and murderous, you are bound by the strange and protean customs of the Unseelie in these lands.
If a boon is paid to take the Unseelie Court as Sanctuary, you're an honored guest. Many will consider you above their station and tolerate minor transgression. However, if you flaunt their hospitality, snub their offered meals of stinging insects and their own kin, insult their nobles, reject the ever changing roles you are given in their pageants and their wild hedonism, then their patience may run out. Enter here without paying a Boon for Sanctuary and you are entirely at their capricious mercies.
- #1712 Wizard Tower
Keys: Tower, wizard
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Perched atop a hill, this spire rises above an open plain with clear sight lines in all directions. This Wizard Tower is protected by magic wards and runes both defense and warning against attack. Numerous imps bound to service and maintenance of the tower carry tend to the grounds and those within, restocking food and water with magic, mending the stone, or simply attending their master. The furnishing are spartan, but some old books and alchemical reagents remain that may hold arcane secrets.
On the highest level, there is a locked door behind which can be heard incoherent screams of a man every hour of the day, audible to all corners of the tower. The imps do not know who or what is behind it, only that the door must never be opened. If purchased as Sanctuary by spending a boon, the tower and its imps are yours to command. If approached without purchase, the magical defenses and the imps will not forgive your trespass.
- #1813 Ruined Fort
Keys: fort, Ruin, specter
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
High atop a craggy rock, the ruins of an ancient fort rot. The peak has poor cover, no amenities, and scaling the stone is both draining and treacherous. It is surrounded by dark woodlands, among the most deadly on the Island. All of this also makes the ruined fort one of the least visited places on the Island with so little of value and significant difficulty. What it has is the vigilant guard of the long dead soldiers once stationed and who died when the fort fell. Each night, the specters rise to patrol and defend the summit, watching over their charge even in death.
Purchased as a Sanctuary with a boon, this army of the dead will count you among their own, watching over you as you sleep and defending you against any and all who might wish you harm there. If you have not purchased it as Sanctuary with a boon and you attempt to stay the night, when the dead rise they will consider you an invader to be slain.
- #1914 Abandoned Lakehouse
Keys: boat, lake, garden, orchard, poltergeist, manor, mansion
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
On an interior lake there sits a mansion, old and abandoned, accessible only by boat. The furnishings are rotting and covered with dust, nothing newer than an antique loom sits within. The grounds are spacious, an untended garden and orchard stand forgotten. A sense of beatific melancholy permeates the manor.
Look hard enough and you'll see the signs. This place wasn't always forlorn, some unspeakable horror made it so and it feels like the mansion wants you to know its story. In the corner of your eye from upper windows, faces stare. You catch glimpses of masked children running in the halls, gone when you go to look. Distressed noises from empty corners, especially at night. Wandering the grounds after sunset is to risk your life. If a boon is spent to purchase this place as Sanctuary, this is all you will experience. Enter without doing so and poltergeist activity will make violently clear the displeasure at your intrusion.
- #2015 Shoreside Cabin
Keys: romantic, lake, valley, bubble, cabin
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
In one of the more remote and peaceful corners of the island in a discrete valley, a log cabin sits overlooking a lake. Wildlife is more docile and hazards are few and far between here. Luminescent bubbles rise from the lake each night and illuminate the shore in rainbow hues in a sight certain to stir feelings of romance. The cabin itself is comfortably appointed with a fireplace, a loveseat, and a bed just large enough to fit two with a bit of squeezing. Outside, an outhouse and a shed with a workbench stand but a short distance.
If taken as a Sanctuary by purchase with spending a boon, this little corner of the island will be relatively unknown. Though lacking active defenses or wards, this quiet valley will simply be undiscovered by the Island's population unless you do something to draw attention to it. If not taken as a Sanctuary, this cabin and surrounding lands will already be under the control of one of the island factions and known to the rest.
- #2116 Monastery
Keys: monastery, pagoda, Monk, temple
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
A temple surrounded by grasslands, this pagoda-like structure is home to a sect of monks. Centuries of discipline and self-mastery has transformed them, making their skin as fired clay even as their minds remained sharp. Their focus is mastery of their bodies, dedication to martial craft, and understanding the world's essence.
The monks are wise and peaceful. They are willing to provide shelter and guidance, but their focus is inward, not out, and so they have little knowledge of the Island and will not leave their monastery. More, their philosophy requires providing for yourself and so you will be expected to tend the garden or the well for food and drink.
If purchased as Sanctuary by spending a boon, they will accept you as one of theirs, guiding you in training in martial arts and allowing access to the essence forge, binding and stripping essences of things. If not taken as Sanctuary, you can receive a roof and wisdom here, but little else.
- #2217 Pharos
Keys: coast, Lighthouse, pharos
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
A beacon above the rocky shoreline cliffs, the light of the Pharos illuminates sea and Island alike for dozens of kilometers. A towering outcropping out in the ocean connected to the Island only by a concealed bridge, the lighthouse is as difficult to miss as it is to access once found.
The interior is sparse but comfortable enough, a place for a fire, some furnished bedrolls, a table and chairs, a workshop with tools once belonging to a former lighthouse keeper. Preserved food and water stored in a cellar would last you for a while without supplementation and a small, overgrown garden sits at the base.
If purchased as a Sanctuary with a Boon, the bridge is revealed to you and the light from the lighthouse will cling to approaching threats leaving its glow lingering upon them even after the beam has passed. If not purchased, the winds around the lighthouse will prove maddening even if you somehow enter and you will find it difficult to rest here.
- #2318 Traveling Carnival
Keys: , Carnival, circus, nomad, convoy, caravan, fortune teller
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
You travel with a traveling carnival crisscrossing the Island between settlements trading entertainment, knowledge, and services for the provisions needed to reach the next audience. Performance is their bread and butter from song, dance, juggling, sleight of hand, animal training of the Island's wildlife, to genuine sorcery, their acts are exceptional and never fail to garner applause. They moves on a strict schedule and will leave you behind if you tarry or linger in your exploration when departure time comes.
As their guest, you are expected to pull your weight and abide their customs. If a Boon is spent to purchase the Carnival as Sanctuary, you are treated as one of their own, gaining access to their occult knowledge of the Island gathered in long travel and their fortune teller who can advise you whether your daily plans will end in weal or woe. If not purchased as Sanctuary, you are treated as a stranger - tolerated so long as you follow their customs, but marked with suspicion.
- #2419 Ironworks
Keys: forge, foundry, Ironworks, smelter
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Deep underground a vast storehouse waits stocked full of rare and valuable materials. Colossal smelters and forges wait for their fires to burn once more. Created to rebuild civilization, whoever built this place disappeared and now it sits, never to fulfill it's post-apocalyptic purpose. Hidden deep in the bedrock, monsters roam these halls, making meager use of some of the facilities, though embracing a culture of trade and craftsmanship allowing access to those who can produce things of value.
If a Boon is spent to take the Ironworks as a Sanctuary, you receive the well hidden location as well as a line of credit with the current occupants of the facility. They will give some patience as you develop your craft skills and perhaps some instruction if you allow yourself deeper debt before demanding you forge for them. If not purchased as a Sanctuary with a boon, you must find this facility on your own and access to the facilities and resources will be limited to what you can purchase or seize.
- #2520 Lexipolis
Keys: Devil, Library, Lexipolis, Archive
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Larger on the inside than without, the Lexipolis houses an incomparable collection of literature. Every written and never written work in every known or unknown language is here in the library's endless stacks. Shelved randomly, finding material specific works is slow and challenging, but almost any possible text exists here somewhere. Do not let yourself become lost in the literally unending rows of books. One such person lies buried beneath a monument in a village deep in the mountains, legend dimmed but not forgotten. Eons ago their choice of Boons heralded a golden age for humans and the mountain village waits for their return.
If the Mountain Settlement is taken as a Sanctuary with a Boon purchase, they see the signs of the return in you. You were carried here from a foreign land, you carry the gifts purchased with boons, you bear the mark and the hunt of a Nemesis. To them, you must be the hero reborn and destined to overthrow the horrors of the island and they will follow you into hell, if you deign to organize and lead them. If not purchased with a boon, you are a suspicious outsider, another mouth to feed, and you can expect what treatment you can earn or pay for.

Reinserting the key and opening the cell door will bring you back to the door you entered from, or the closest one if that door no longer exists. No other method exists to gain entry to this cell.
