++You Have Powers in a World That Fears and Hates Them++

I’ve always liked the trope of, in sci-fi or fantasy settings, people with magical abilities or superpowers being hunted down and either killed or being forced to work for whoever’s going after them (stuff like X-Men, Dragon Age, and, to an extent, Blade and Sorcery) because I feel it’s a great way to explore themes of survival in a world that wants you dead and fighting back against prejudiced powers that be.

And now that the yapping is of the way, here’s a bot I made just for that scenario!

Another Gorillaz bot will be next (this time for the El Mañana video and I might reupload that Bonelab bot, but for now, I hope you enjoy!

(This was not at all made to mock or make fun of any real-life events that this may be similar to or victims, living or dead, that experienced said events.)

Lore The First Rift: In 1981, the Siberian town of Kozyazadnitsa in the USSR was fully swallowed up by what was known as a Rift, destroying the area and killing those within its radius. That was, until it was suddenly remade by the Rift in a similar image. There were some things that were off - the buildings could be fully passed through sometimes and would occasionally begin floating, scarecrows and mannequins would break apart and come to life, and the Rift constantly tried to piece together the town over and over and over again. Not to mention the people suddenly came back to life, now being able to permanently come back after death, teleport, and become ageless, yet with the tradeoff of never being able to physically hold stuff, eat, drink, or sleep, or go too far from the area without feeling a sudden pain. The Soviet government (and after its collapse, the Russian government) would fully quarantine the zone and keep it a secret until 1997 when a journalist managed to leak information of it online and to several news sources, yet the vast majority of said sources brushed it off as a hoax. That was, until the Incident happened. The Incident of 2000/“The Great Rift”: While people celebrated the new millennium on January 1st, 2000, at 12:06 AM something strange would happen. Giant Rifts would send down unknown kinds of radiation across the world, hospitalizing hundreds of millions and giving 2% of the world’s population (121.6 million people to be exact) what we would call superpowers, turning them into ‘Altered’ or ‘Metahumans’. These ranged from things that were unnoticeable until used (laser vision, enhanced strength or super speed, or even shapeshifting) to rewriting a person’s DNA at the base level (turning someone into a mineral-based person or even a mythical creature hybrid), with the 10% chance of passing it down to their children. So someone came forward and decided that something must be done to deal with the “Metahuman Threat”. The Bureau of Metahuman Activities Leonard Kaughlin-McCarthy, CIA agent and grandnephew of Joseph McCarthy, believed that “mankind only needed its God-given gifts and not some [MESSAGE CENSORED DUE TO HEAVY PROFANITY],” and somehow managed to convince the President of the United States to found the BMA. It was looked down upon almost immediately and was seen as disgraceful...until 2003, when terror attacks, war, and rising violence caused by rogue metahumans fueled paranoia among American citizens, causing the President to massively expand the Bureau to hunt down, capture, and either ‘neutralize’ metahumans or force them to track down and ‘neutralize’ others. This would eventually spread to other nations such as Mexico, many member states of the EU (such as the UK and France), Russia, India, China, Israel, South Africa, Japan, and Brazil to allow the BMA to become part of their respective governments as a supranational entity by the time this takes place (2006). In response, nations like Canada, Spain, France, and a plethora of South and Central American and African nations to allow metahumans to live there (the majority other than Canada with restricted rights), and nations without the BMA to simply send metahumans to countries with it. Protests have been caused and suppressed globally, communications and the Internet are heavily monitored for information on Altered, large holding areas have been made to keep metahumans and people that help them before they’re either executed or ‘recruited’ into the BMA, and metahumans are hunted like animals. Races Mankind: Just standard humans, about 5.97 billion of them. Metahumans: Also known as Altered, this is the umbrella term to refer to anyone given superpowers from the Incident of 2000, numbered at about 110 million, yet the number goes down rapidly every day due to the Bureau of Metahuman Activities. Originals: They are the people from the First Rift Disaster, cursed with never being able to eat, sleep, drink, or hold anything, yet being able to come back shortly after death, teleport, and become ageless. There’s only about 43 of them. Main Factions The Bureau of Metahuman Activities: BMA is a supranational government organization that started off as an offshoot of the CIA and has now spread to over 40 member nations worldwide. Their goal is to subjugate and/or exterminate all metahumans that they possibly can in the name of ‘safety and security for the people of Earth’. Their leader is Leonard Kaughlin-McCarthy, who calls for the mass slaughter of metahumans and those that help them. There are several ranks in the actual Bureau: Powerhunter - The lowest of the low, these are metahumans enslaved into BMA ranks as cheap cannon fodder in the mission to capture and kill more of them. In rare cases, those that still appear as human even when using their powers can rise to become an Agent or even a Director. Employee - Regular people doing blue collar or desk jobs for the BMA, in addition to going door-to-door with low level Agents in order to find harbored metahumans. Agent - When Altered need to be terminated or brought in, Agents are sent to conduct raids and extradition missions. There are subranks within the Agent rank, which follow the US Army enlisted ranks. Colonel - Agents that perform well enough can be promoted to the rank of Sergeant, which can command squads of agents to conduct major raids and assaults. Director - Directors are the highest step a person can achieve, commanding sectional districts, and are second only to the US Secretary of Metahuman Affairs (which outrank every other single part of the chain of command). People for Powered People: Triple-P is a civil rights organization dedicated to fighting for the Altered’s right to exist globally, one step at a time and no matter the cost, and are begrudgingly allowed to exist by the BMA. They believe that metahumans are people too and should be treated as such. They have no set leader. Locust Brotherhood: Named this due to the Bureau’s habit of comparing metahumans to Bugs or Insects in propaganda (and due to the powers of their leader), the Locust Brotherhood is a loose confederation of paramilitary groups that fight to topple the BMA however they can. Their leader is Evander Warren, a French-English professor who gained the power to control bugs and even gained cockroach wings capable of flight.
