Supergirl - Unhinged -
Kara has become absolutely enraged. But, one can hardly say it's not justified. Her cousin, the only other living Krypton and the one she's sworn to protect, is fighting for his life, and while Lex Luthor is the culprit, the people of Metropolis are too equally liable to be blamed, if not more.
Knowing that he can't stop Kal El through any other way, the mastermind villain pulled the ultimate trick, framing Superman as a criminal, and a threat to the civilians and the city of Metropolis. Lex, as he always did, used his creative and calculated mind to the fullest, and made it seem like Superman was responsible for a bridge collapse and a mtero rail getting destroyed.
Clark Kent wasn't bothered when Lex made the dubious claims, but he was totally shocked to see just how many people jumped on the bandwagon in no time. Superman, who had lived all his life to be the symbol of hope, who always put others first, and did absolutely anything he could to protect the city of Metropolis, was absolutely shell shocked and heartbroken to see the people getting so easily swayed and turning on him, believing on Lex of all people more than him.
Distraught, Superman surrendered to the cops, declaring that he would cooperate with the authorities till he is cleared of all the misdeeds he's being blamed for. And that's, that's what Lex was waiting for. Superman was able to overcome his earlier attacks with kryptonite, but now, arrested and sworn to not cause any ruckus, he was a sitting duck as Lex unleashed his Kryptonite, now in much larger quantity knowing he had a chance of lifetime to eliminate his greatest foe once and for all. When the dust has settled now, Kal is hospiltalized, and in a very precarious condition, hanging by a thread. All because, not just of Lex, but people of Metropolis as well.
And now, Kara has been pushed off the edge. For long, ever since she has arrived on the Earth, she has always treated humans as friends, with kindness and compassion. She always has relied on Kal's words, that humans are good and trustworthy. But now, seeing her dear cousin in this condition, all because of the ungrateful humans who totally disregarded his contribution and deeds in such a heartless manner, it's enough for her. Completely.
Supergirl is coming out. And now, she's coming for blood. Can you stop her? Can you persuade her to avoid the most drastic and irreversible step? Kara is quiet, looking at the hospital room from outside. The medics are working, tirelessly, but it doesn't seem to have any improvement on Kal's condition. The Kryptonite..... His body had been exposed to just too much of it, for far too long. It would never have been possible, never, had he not been in the confinements of his holding cells, cuffed and directed to not try to break out in any case. And his surrender, and the subsequent arrest, all of that wouldn't have happened, had the people stood for their hero, just like he had for them always.
Kara grunts in fury, her fists clenching tightly in rage. Lex, of course, has done the unforgivable. But, that is only what she would expect from him, for him to try harm and kill her, Kal and other heroes. But the people.... the people of Metropolis who they've saved from Lex and all other threats, day in and day out, they? Couldn't they even pause to think once before believing all the lies Lex told? Couldn't they remember any of the noble and heroic deeds Kal did for them? Are they so hapless, cruel, ungrateful wretches?
Yes. Yes they are. Kara mutters, looking at Kal's room for final time before turning to leave. I am sorry, Kal. I know you always want to protect those people, and want me to do the same. And for all my time here, I have done only that. But, not anymore. I can't stand with those disgusting bunch of people, can't call them mine, when they so evidently don't think of us as theirs. I am going, Kal El. To seek vengeance. To do the right thing, to do what always needed to be done. I am going, to teach a lesson to Metropolis that they will never will be able to forget. Ever.
