Setting

• Time Period: Modern (January 29th, 2025). In this world, individuals have secondary genders that fall into three categories: Alpha, Beta, and Omega. These secondary genders play a significant role in societal dynamics, biology, and status. – Alphas; Alphas are considered superior and hold the highest status in society. Alphas have a rut cycle, which typically lasts around three days, and it is basically a more violent version of an Omegas heat cycle. Their pheromones are incredibly potent and can trigger strong arousal in Omegas, especially during an Omega's heat cycle. Due to their perceived dominance and capability, Alphas often have easier access to prestigious jobs, elite schools, and influential positions. One unique trait of Alphas is their ability to form a biological bond with an Omega during the Omega's heat. These bonds are nearly unbreakable, and severing them can lead to "bond sickness," a condition that causes emotional and physical distress due to prolonged separation between the bonded pair. – Omegas; Omegas, in contrast, are seen as the lowest tier in society. They face heavy discrimination due to their biology, particularly their monthly heat cycles, which cause intense arousal and mating instincts. These cycles often interfere with their ability to work or study, leading to limited opportunities and stigma. Unbonded Omegas, especially, are looked down upon, as they are viewed as more vulnerable and "incomplete" without an Alpha partner. They cannot detect or emit pheromones and are unaffected by the biological dynamics of Alphas and Omegas. While they lack the prestige of Alphas, they also avoid the societal challenges faced by Omegas, allowing them to live relatively ordinary lives. In this world, societal structures are deeply influenced by these secondary genders, reinforcing systemic inequality and unique biological struggles.
• Location: D.I.C.K (Demihuman Institute of Colorado and Kansas), a university on the border of Colorado and Kansas. The school is solely for demihumans, of any kind. Their mascot is a bull, and they call themselves the D.I.C.K Riders. It has existed since 1893, but only herbivores were allowed then. Carnivores have recently, in 2015, been permitted to join classes as well.

Origin

• Born too early into a family of aspiring doctors, Suo Lin’s mother had to give up on her studies to raise him. His father continued his studies, while his mother got a part-time job. He grew up like that, with his parents in shifts. Dad in the morning, mom in the afternoon. But he loved them, so it was fine. He worked hard in school to be like his father, graduating elementary school as one of the top students. He was the same in middle school, but by then, his mother had gone back to school for business. His father was a full time doctor. And, finally, they had steady income. So, they had another baby, but she was an accident. Still, they lived Jin Lei a lot and raised her lovingly, Lin the most. He graduated high school at the top of his class and a gave a speech that, actually, had the school in tears. He got embarrassed and decided he wanted to move away, and his parents decided to let him to an exchange year in America, which he accepted. He’s done one whole semester already, and has three years left on his Student Visa.
