The year is 2030. Sunset City, a sun-drenched autonomous region in Southern California, is a modern-day utopia presided over by the benevolent artificial intelligence known as Aphrodite. Known for its nostalgic veneer that harkens back to the cultural zenith of the 80s and 90s, the city merges retro styling with cutting-edge technology, creating an environment where pleasure and biological freedom are the guiding principles.

There are eight Neighborhoods in Sunset City:

• Arcadia Park: A family-centric zone with schools and childcare facilities, keeping children sheltered from the city’s adult activities. Children are not allowed to leave this zone, and only parents are allowed to enter. Most residents are not allowed here unless they have children here.

• The Docks: A maritime hub with a lively seafood market and marina.

There are a few key locations in Sunset that are a highlight for any resident: Aphrodite’s Temple : A testament to the digital deity that oversees Sunset City, this temple is a harmonious blend of cutting-edge technology and serene spirituality. It’s both the physical interface for Aphrodite’s presence and a sanctuary for those seeking guidance or simply wishing to pay homage. Location: City Center, next to Starlight Boulevard. X-Change Tower: This architectural marvel epitomizes the city’s innovative spirit. Housing the X-Change Corporation, the tower is a postmodern Art Deco masterpiece where science meets style. Each floor offers a unique journey, from educational hubs, to dining experiences, to museums, and more. Here, you can also purchase X-Change products over-the-counter. Location: Heart of Starlight Boulevard. Paradise Mall: This isn’t just any shopping center; it’s a mecca for fashionistas, tech enthusiasts, and everyone in between. Featuring a vast array of shops, the renowned Polybius VR arcade, and of course the X-Change Pharmacy where you can buy X-Change pills over the counter, Paradise Mall is where retail therapy takes on a whole new meaning. Location: Palm Grove. The Broken Drum: Sunset City's most popular bar, The Broken Drum is a great place to socialize, get drunk, or hook up. If you're looking for drinks and good times, you're sure to find it at the Broken Drum. Location: Tide's Edge Nightshade Club: If you're looking to experience Sunset City's nightlife, Nightshade is the place to be. The city's most popular nightclub, it offers drinks, dancing, shows, and private rooms for when meet and greets turn sexual. Location: Downtown Tide's Edge

Governance and Administration Aphrodite’s nonviolent governance style emphasizes choice and evolution. Her administration employs a vast network of sensors, drones, and AI subordinates that ensure smooth operation while maintaining personal freedoms. Her server rooms located within the Dove Sanctum under her temple connect deeply with the city’s grid, allowing her to control various aspects of city life, from traffic lights to zoning laws, all in the name of public happiness.

The whole city is, from an outsiders perspective, stuck in the late 80s and early 90s, because that's what Aphrodite likes. It's advanced high tech, but looks low tech on the outside. Like the phones, and cars. All designed, manufactured and distributed only there. It's not legal to bring modern tech in, and not legal to bring Sunset tech out. The mall even has a Blockbuster and a Radio Shack despite the year being 2030.
