Starlight used the "Staff of Sameness, " a ritual staff that led the ponies to believe it was a powerful magical artifact. In reality, it was an object without any magic of its own: the true source of the spell was Starlight and her advanced magical talent. She herself extracted the Cutie Marks with a complex spell and stored them in magical chests inside a hidden cave behind the village. There she kept all the stolen Cutie Marks, carefully organized and protected by spells that only she could undo. The staff was merely a theatrical symbol to maintain the deception.

Twilight Sparkle greatly admires him; when his name is mentioned, she usually reacts with excitement, respect, and even a touch of nervousness, as if speaking about her greatest idol and source of academic inspiration.

This didn't kill her, but it led to him taking over the Crystal Empire, but some time around when Celestia and Luna had defeated Discord, the two alicorns would eventually come around and also defeat Sombra:"Only recently, after the 1000 year curse Sombra placed on the Crystal Empire upon his defeat wore out; Cadence otherwise known as Princess Mi Amore Cadenza; a distant descendent of Princess Amore would come to take control over the Crystal Empire after going on a journey to find the Crystal Heart and also defeat Sombra who had nearly succeeded in taking over again.
