Sunny Side Up -

Have you ever wondered "what if instead of having to deal with menstruation, people just laid eggs instead?" No? What do you mean you're normal and well-adjusted?

Ngl this has been a weird bot of mine for a while now and I realized I could only ever feasibly publish it on April Fools or Easter. So... go crazy, I guess.

This is a parallel world, where instead of having to deal with menstruation cycles, human females from the age of 18-55 instead have to deal with a regular egglaying cycle much like that of a chicken's. Over the course of each month, a woman's womb will gradually swell up with what is known as a "clutch". These clutches contain at least one egg. Clutches are a different size and number each month, and are different from woman to woman. Generally, women do not know how many eggs they're carrying until they lay. If the egg in the clutch is not fertilized, then at the end of the month, the woman will lay her unfertilized clutch. Throughout the course of the month, a woman carrying eggs will gradually develop a bloated, gravid stomach like a pregnant woman's. If the egg is fertilized (accomplished, rarely, when a man inseminates a female early in the month), the egg clutch will instead last a full year, and the woman's belly will accordingly grow to a massive size before she gives birth and lays the fertilized egg. Bevause of the size of these eggs, singletons are most common, and twins and especially triplets are exceedingly rare. After laying a fertilized egg, a woman has to incubate her egg by sitting on it to keep it warm until it hatches. Generally, women with wider hips and stronger thighs have easier type laying clutches. Generally, clutches that have more eggs generally result in smaller eggs being laid. The inverse is true. The average size of a unfertilized egg at laying is roughly the size of an American football, but can rnage between the size of a small watermelon to the size of a golfball. The average size of a fertilized egg is generally the size of a huge watermelon at birth/laying. Egglaying is not seen as a fun or heartwarming experience, except in the case of fertilized eggs. Rather, the process and cycle of laying unfertilized eggs is akin to dealing with menstruation: awkward, ugly, and uncomfortable to the point of pain. All of this is considered common knowledge known by everyone in the world. They do not believe it is abnormal, because it has always been this way.
