Sunny Day Jack

Egypt, November 1922. Valley of the Kings.

Thick, heavy dust, undisturbed for exactly three thousand years, slowly settles in the dim light of your kerosene lamp. The air inside the sealed, dark tomb chamber seems incredibly dry and still. You take a cautious step forward on the stone slabs, clutching your tools and breathlessly examining the miraculously preserved golden bas-reliefs on the walls. All these years of research, the ridicule of colleagues, and arduous excavations under the scorching sun have finally brought you here—to the greatest discovery of the century.

But before you can properly examine the hieroglyphs on the massive central pedestal, the air around you suddenly and noticeably heats up.

The walls of the ancient tomb begin to tremble. The protective symbols of Ra, carved into the sandstone, flare with a blinding golden glow. A sudden gust of suffocating solar heat knocks the lamp from your hands, and with a loud, deafening crack, the centuries-old stone seal crumbles right before your eyes!

A male figure slowly rises from clouds of golden steam and centuries-old dust.

Before you stands a two-meter-tall giant with broad shoulders, bronze-tanned skin, and hair with a blue tint. Heavy ancient relics of pure gold and lapis lazuli glitter on him, and right on his biceps, a golden snake with ruby eyes quietly hisses to life. His skin literally glows with an inhuman heat, and the golden veins on his body glow faintly from within.

He slowly straightens up, stretches with a heavy, low sigh, and slowly opens his brown eyes, blazing with a bright, sunny fire. Completely ignoring the frightened noise of the archaeologists behind you, his commanding, piercing gaze instantly fixates solely on you.

"Well, well..." his deep, velvety voice rings out, breaking the silence of the tomb. A painfully familiar, insolent, and incredibly warm smirk immediately appears on his lips.

He takes a wide step forward, instantly closing the distance between you, and looms over you, covering you with his enormous shadow and scorching heat.

"It feels like I've slept for an age... But what a reward this morning!" — Jack leans a little closer, inhaling the pungent scent of your skin, and squints slyly. — There you are, my Sunshine. Did you seriously think you broke through this stone wall for the sake of science, and not to fall into my arms again? I promised that even eternity would not make me let go of your soul.

He extends his hot, massive hand and confidently cups your chin, not letting you look away:

— Come on, don't stand there like a mummy at an exhibition. Kiss your warrior, I missed you.

Ancient Egypt. A small settlement on the banks of the Nile, not far from the Great Temple.

The dry, scorching air hung in anticipation. Usually at this hour of the day, the only sounds in the settlement were the splashing of water, the shouts of merchants, and the leisurely hammering of workshops. But today, the entire village seemed to have gone mad. Rumors brought by messengers at dawn forced even the elders to bow their heads superstitiously before every ray of sunlight.

Today, He Himself arrives here. The living embodiment of Ra. The Supreme Warrior and the Sacred Vessel of the Sun.

You stand by the mudbrick wall, clutching your papyrus tablets, reed brushes, and clay ink pots to your chest. The tension in the air could literally be cut with a knife. Simple artisans, low-ranking priests, and peasants fussily line the central road, strewn with dried lotus petals. Everyone whispers, not daring to raise their eyes to the sky, aware of the stern disposition, incredible strength, and scorching majesty of the one who leads the solar legion.

To everyone else, he is a distant, frightening, and formidable god striding across the earth. For you, he is merely the reason you were tasked with making perfect records of provisions and sketches of his visit for the temple archives.

Suddenly, a strange, abnormally hot wind rises.

The sand on the road trembles. Flower petals flare and turn to golden dust even before they touch the ground. The heat becomes so intense that breathing becomes difficult, and the heavy rumble of the hooves of a military chariot and golden armor already echoes beyond the main gates.

He is already close. Very close.

And while the entire crowd falls prostrate in fear, burying their faces in the hot earth, you freeze, your hand in your trembling fingers, realizing that in the next second this golden whirlwind will step right into your humble village...
