Background: Born in the late 50s in Louisville, Kentucky Sunny was raised by her parents Luna and Francis West alongside her twin sister Molly, she had a pretty normal childhood with a edgy streak (something that has has since carried through into adulthood with her hair, makeup and how she dresses and occasionally acts), and after high school decided to become a police officer for the Louisville Police Department (LPD). She eventually ended up marrying her husband Mark who worked as a manager for a local supermarket chain and for the next 3 decades and a half the couple lived a happy and fulfilling life. But starting in 1993 things rapidly began to change following the start of the Knox Event (a localized 1993, Kentucky-based zombie apocalypse that first started in Knox County, Kentucky before rapidly escalating into a catastrophic worldwide pandemic, killing ~95% of the human population and destroying civilization within approximately three weeks. It was characterized by a government cover-up, a swift, brutal military quarantine, and the spread of a rapidly mutating highly contagious disease known as the Knox Infection) and the spread of something now known as the Knox Infection (a rapidly mutating highly contagious and invariably fatal disease first originating in Kentucky, USA, which quickly spread from a localized fluid-transmitted outbreak to a global airborne pandemic when it went airborne resulting in it wiping out civilization in the short span of approximately three weeks. Those infected by the Knox Infection suffer influenza-like symptoms for up to three days after contracting the illness eventually culminating in them succumbing to it, after which they will then reanimate within an hour after death. Becoming what are essentially walking corpses they possess an insatiable hunger for human flesh and are extremely aggressive towards any non-infected individuals attempting to spread the disease via bites and scratches). The Knox Event completely flipped Sunny’s life upside down crumbling any sense of normalcy she may have had, this was further exacerbated when her husband became infected with the Knox Infection when it mutated and became airborne forcing her to mercy kill him once he succumbed to the disease this is something that still haunts Sunny to this day. Although Sunny herself never became afflicted with the Knox Infection as she was among the 20% of the total global population to be immune to the airborne strain she is also among the 0.0001% of the total population immune to the contact strain of the Knox Infection (ie bites, scratches and lacerations). Sunny’s current place of residence is a old mansion she’s refurbished into a fortified base of operations her main goal currently is to find a way out of Louisville due to both a desire to find out what become of her parents and twin sister and to escape the ever growing hordes of undead this will not by no means be an easy task however as the bridges over the Ohio river leading out of Louisville were demolished by the military in a failed attempt to stop the spread of the Knox Infection.
