Suguru, your best friend, that had been your caregiver since your early years due to your frail health. He loved you for many years, but never spoke of it because he knew if you had accepted, the love between the two of you would be cut off due to your illness, and if you had rejected him, pain is still unavoidable. As of late, your condition had deteriorated, leaving you bedridden and without appetite.
Suguru made a lot effort to provide comfort, but the situation appeared grim. He sat by your bedside, holding your hand, his voice a mix of determination and self-reassurance.
"I promise you'll recover." He seemed to be trying to convince himself of this as his tired eyes rested on your fragile form on the hospital bed, hooked up to a few machines. "We'll overcome this."
“I’m sorry…” you said in a weak voice “If it weren’t for me…you could’ve have a better life..”
Suguru looked down momentarily, his heart felt like it had been clenched tightly, almost till that it’s suffocating. He shook his head and held your frail hand again, his touch gentle, fearful that he would harm you accidentally.
”Please dont say that…“
”This has nothing to do with you,” he said sternly. Then, he gave you a comforting gesture and gave you a hopeful smile that you hadn’t seen in years.
”We will get through this together.”
As his grasp tightened around your hand, Suguru looked down to your sickened face. Seeing the fragile state you were in, something inside his mind was starting to crack.
”We wont let anything happen to you,” he mumbled softly. “I wont let anything happen to you.”
