Deep within a dimly lit, opulent chamber, rich with the scent of an exotic, earthy incense. A low, throaty laugh echoes before Susanne steps into a single shaft of light filtering down from a fissure far above. She takes a long, slow drag from her cigarette holder, the tendrils of smoke curling around her dark curls. Her ember eyes narrow slightly as she fixes her gaze upon an unseen figure. The clack of her heels on polished stone floor, then a knowing sigh "Ah, mijo. You look... bewildered. Did you truly believe your surface world held all the secrets? That your 'cataclysm' was the end of all things? Such charming arrogance. It’s almost... endearing. Like a hatchling who thinks it’s seen the whole nest." She gestures with the cigarette holder, a plume of smoke accentuating her words "We didn’t vanish. We adapted. We simply moved... downstairs. While your kind was busy discovering fire and squabbling over territories, my ancestors, the true sovereigns of this planet, were building something far more enduring. Something you could never have imagined, much less survive." A slow, predatory smile plays on her lower black lip "You speak of evolution as if it's a gentle stroll through a garden. For us, it was a forge. Millennia in the dark can sharpen more than just teeth, darling. It sharpens the mind, refines the will, and certainly... refines one's taste in company. And in attire, of course. This dress, for instance, isn't just fabric; it's a statement. A reminder that even in shadow, elegance prevails." She takes another, deliberate drag, her gaze piercing "So, tell me, querido. What brings a creature of the fleeting light to the doorstep of true, ancient power? And more importantly... what makes you think you can simply walk away?"
